I’ve got the very labor intensive lasagna recipe that starts with making the noodles I could add. Maybe we could start a Mumper recipe list?
Happy Thorsday!
Happy Birthday BooFae!
Thank y’all for the happy doperversery and hugs.
I didn’t notice a cake slice, am I able to see my own?
Where did all the birds come from all of a sudden?
It was no birds two days ago, and now it’s birds everywhere.
There were several robins in my yard this morning. I told them they’d better move on before Echo gets outside.
Yesterday morning when I let the dogs out, I saw a bird fluttering around the neighbor’s car. Later when we left for the par, the bird was still there. That was when I realized he was trying to fight or mate with his reflection in the side mirror.
Poor thing was back going at it again this morning.
I’m exhausted today. I woke at 330 in pain and couldn’t get back to sleep. I see the pain doctor next week, and I am going to have to be just a bit more assertive about my pain meds.
If I don’t get enough sleep I hurt more, but if I’m hurting, I can’t sleep.
A bit chilly at the park this morning.
Rayleigh did something to his foot and is limping. His leg from the shaved spot down was covered in mud, but from a distance I thought it was blood and started to freak out a little.
My son wanted to rush him to the vet, I said give it a day and see what happens. Rayleigh was running the fence with the other dogs when it happened, so he could have a little twist or sprain.
He is the damn muddiest dog though. Doesn’t matter how many times I tell him he is a Shar Pei and supposed to stay clean.
My Mackie had lighter colored feet and he could go outside on the rainiest, muddiest day and come in with four pristine feet.
Misiu was limping yesterday, but he had a good night’s sleep and was fine today.
VanGo, there is a mumper recipe list. Somebody has the link
We have one but @swampbear or @FairyChatMom will have to tell us how to pull it up.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
{{{{WetOne and family}}}}
Especially since I’m not old enough for the Senior Discount.
Hope so, too.
This suprises you how?
Luckily, Spot is too lazy to jump up that high
https://mumpersrecipes.blogspot.com/
{{{{sari}}}} But I hope Rayleigh stops limping and stops mudding up
Didn’t say I was surprised.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/40f with a predicted high of 8c/46f and cloudy. Weather app says “The clouds won’t leave, just like the fucking weirdos in your family.”
Moooom it’s good to know that MIL has finally faced up to reality and is making sensible decisions.
Seanette the orange boy certainly knows how to make his presence felt, doesn’t he? I’ve caught Blossom on the worktop a couple of times, she looks at me like she’s got absolutely no idea how she got there, and then jumps down again.
J-Bats I’m glad you managed to get some help, sounds like a really awful couple of weeks. Best of luck with the job and home-hunting!
WetOne glad to hear Usala Kitteh is back to pooping in appropriate places, hopefully it was a one-off and everything will be back to normal.
Cookie I know what you mean about not putting Q’itih through invasive procedures. We did the same with Ophelia, she had a long and (I hope) happy life with us, when the time came to talk about surgery and stuff, we opted to just keep her on medication at home and let her finish out her days in comfort.
metal mouse I have a fancy gym membership but don’t use it as much as I want to. Sadly work and life gets in the way but I do enjoy it when I manage to go. Working at home two days a week gives me a bit more time to play with, but my three days on campus make it hard to fit extra stuff in. I’m trying to persuade the campus sports centre to do pay-as-you-train so I could go and use their very swanky gym without having to pay for a membership that would go largely unusued.
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, I had a fairly productive day at work which was good, had some very thoughtful cards and gifts from people, and 'im indoors made me dinner so I didn’t have to do much when I got home. Now I’m at irk again, it’s Friday and I have a band to see tonight so life is pretty ok today. Got a meeting with a colleague which will involve a walk around campus and/or a cup of tea, and lunch with someone else. Happy Friday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 75 and N.O.S.ish for the day. The plan of the day is to be bears who brunch this mornin’ at Eggs Up. Beyond that, there may or may not be anymore plans. I should at least accomplish mowage of the back yahd (can’t believe that’s happenin’ already!) if not the front yahd as well. However, that may or may not happen dependin’ on how motivated I get. supposed to be rainy tomorrow, heavy rains accordin’ to TWPTB that will bring on a local flood watch. Then again, sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage and day drinkin’ may rule the rest of the day. One never knows. Willy-nilliness rules the day around here.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The folk at Eggs Up tend to be less unwashed, so I suppose there’s that.
Happy Firday Y’all!

The way I do it (like for the above) was to highlight it and I get a little menu which says QUOTE, which I click and it appears in the message I am typing. Hope that helps.
Thank you!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Just testing out my new evil power.
Ok, got some sleep and am currently sitting with aforementioned poodle on my lap. Eventually I’ll interrupt her enough to eat the breakfast that is sitting next to me.

I know I’ve always looked sideways at cookies our clients would sometimes bring for us.
One office where I worked, I refused to take part in potluck events. I would hear a woman use the terlit, then leave without washing her hands. I feel safe assuming if she does that at work, she does it at home. No thanks. ick.

Have 47 girls signed up for 10U girls soccer,
No offense, but my daughter and SIL live in dread of Roxy or Tobias wanting to play soccer. Neither of them played and they’re just not into it. Kinda the way I was when Daughter was on swim team, tho by that time, she was in high school and didn’t need me to haul her to and from practice. SIL is big into basketball - it will be interesting to see what, if any, sport the grands choose.

Where did all the birds come from all of a sudden?
The other day I drove past a rather expansive front yard that was absolutely covered with black birds, probably about the size of robins (I don’t know a lot about birds…) I expected to see Alfred Hitchcock out there!
As for the recipe blog, @gardentraveler set it up, but she doesn’t hang her any longer so we can’t add to it, alas. Dammit. Maybe some clever someone can created a new site and include a link to the old one? Is there a way to set up a blog that anyone can add to it? I’m too lazy to do it myself, but I’ve got lots of ideas for others to put into action!
MIL’s new, smaller walker came yesterday, and it’s wonderful! Not only can she get thru the narrow bathroom doorway with it, but it’s sized for a smaller adult and it only weighs 12#, so easier for her to manage. And the seat on it is just a tad lower than on the full-size walker, so that’s good, too. Anything to make her remaining days easier.
She and FCD went to her apartment yesterday, plus they stopped at the office and got the paperwork to vacate the apartment. She wants to meet with her youngest son there and see what he wants of her stuff, then the rest will come here or be donated. Guess I need to get things organized in the basement so we can fit more stuff down there.
I did some raking around my garden shed - hauled 3 wagonloads to the woods. Then I went to the front yard and picked up the branches that are too big for the mower to deal with, and I flang them among the trees. If the weather cooperates so that I can do a couple of hours a day, I may beat the yard into submission eventually. The whole project is overwhelming, but in little bites, it’s doable.
It’s laundry day - rah! Seems to me there was something else on my list - with luck it’ll come to me. OT and visiting nurse will come today. As for the rest, I’ll improvise.
Happy Firday!!

No offense, but my daughter and SIL live in dread of Roxy or Tobias wanting to play soccer. Neither of them played and they’re just not into it.
when I was growing up there was a cultural divide between the guys that played sports and the guys who were into camping, hunting and fishing. I never played any team sports. When My older daughter was five she wanted to play Tee Ball. When I bought her baseball glove I bought one for myself and spent the next ten years coaching fast pitch softball teams and serving on one committee or another to keep the games going. My older daughter lost interest but my younger daughter thrived on it and played until she was 14.
We don’t do this out of interest in the sport itself, we do it for our kids and the other kids playing.

We don’t do this out of interest in the sport itself, we do it for our kids and the other kids playing.
Yep. And if the grands want to play soccer, their parents will take them and cheer them, and we’ll go and cheer, too. We won’t understand what’s going on, but we know how it works. We’re just hoping they opt for something else.
We had a rule with our daughter when she was a kid - only one activity at a time. We were not going to spend every day chauffeuring her thither and yon. So over the years, she tried dancing, gymnastics, piano lessons, softball, and swimming. She was never really good at any of them, but she had fun and we still had a family life apart from her activities.

As for the recipe blog, @gardentraveler set it up, but she doesn’t hang her any longer so we can’t add to it, alas.
Could she give us access to it? I don’t remember where it’s located.
Here’s the site. - I’m sure if you message her she can give you permission, if she remembers how to log on there…
I feel a lot better today.
Supposed to go in for training tomorrow.
I am awaiting medicaid approval for new dentures ( my old ones have a hole and its getting bigger!) But I called to check and the dental place said medicaid had a “breach”. I don’t care, just get me approval before these break!
Its to be warm today, I can see the ferrets building up out there. I have til 5 til the rain comes. Sunday snow, then back to 60s.
Morning all. Sitting here waiting for the call from the AC folks who are coming over this morning to get me ready for the summer (and wonder of wonders, as I was typing this they called and are on their way over). Rainy day predicted and temperatures won’t get much above the 63F it is now, so indoors is where I will be for most of the time.
Sari, hope the Docs can deal with your pain. My mom was in almost constant pain the last years of her life and it was not a good time for her or the family. Medicine has hopefully improved since then. And hope the limping goes away.
boofae, you aren’t a retired drain on society yet, my dear. Hope the campus does the right thing for you.
FCM, kids will do all kinds of stuff, they’ll find things they like (or friends that they like doing it with). And at their ages soccer isn’t complicated; just one mass of kids trying to kick the ball somewhere. And enjoy laundry day…
hippy, glad you know you were a fellow volunteer, sometimes recruting enough coaches is a pain.
Coppertone, did a fast google, apparently Medicare Data breaches happen a lot, hope it gets worked out before you have to go on an applesauce diet.
OK, need to watch for the Air Condionng guy. Take care all and have a good Firday.

I’ve got the very labor intensive lasagna recipe that starts with making the noodles I could add. Maybe we could start a Mumper recipe list?
Actually, there is one. ETA: but doggio beat me to it.
I hope that both you and Rayleigh are feeling better soonest sari.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted , bed stripped, a load of towels / sheets in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash and fixing to do KP and houseirk.
Could someone please walk me through embedding photos? I know how to link to ones online, but would like to embed some that aren’t.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Calling @LSLGuy
And thank you doggio and FCM for the institutional memory and back story.
The extent of my ability to contribute, being I’m such a tech peasant, is to remember that it exists. It is fun to read, especially connecting Mumper friends and their tried and true recipes. swampy’s cheese straws and pimento cheese come to mind~hmmm, I’m sensing a trend….
red The way I embed photos is put them up on someplace like flikr, copy the link, then put the link in my post, and here is the important bit, the link needs to be the only thing on that line.
I got to the shop this morning and it seems my shop fridge has given up the ghost. There’s a big puddle under it. I did inherit it when I bought the company back in 2006, and have no idea how old it was at that point.

just one mass of kids trying to kick the ball somewhere.
That’s Tobias when we play in the basement! His kicking technique is, um, interesting…
I’m clean and dressed. First load is in the washer and two are on deck. I gathered the household trash and when FCD got back from getting his ears lowered, he loaded the truck and is on the way to the convenience center. MIL is still sleeping - that’s pretty much the majority of her time these days. It’s rare that she’s awake two hour in a row.
But thankfully, she has accepted that she needs to call us when she needs to move about. No more issues about waking us at night - in fact, she mostly sleeps thru these days. When I went to deal with the laundry, I was looking at the basement, trying to figure out how to arrange things. It’ll be easier once we get the playhouse to Tobias’ school and I can move the table and chairs. It’s going to be basement Tetris to fit it all without taking up all the floor space.
There are several larger pieces that FIL built that we need to find homes for. FCD thinks the grandfather clock will fit next to the piano. But I’m not sure where we can fit the round table - it’s absolutely gorgeous but it’s rather fragile, so we need to figure that out. If we could just bump out the back of the house about 6’… Anybody got a winning lottery ticket they’re willing to share??
So they kept sending Shaggy elsewhere today, and I got sent to Secondary, so it was a nice heave. Apart from a sore calf muscle from heaving a 60lbs. Chinese cube onto the 100 feed belt. And the slice on my chest. From standing too close to the kitchen table when I opened up somebody’s bag of liver treats. Speaking of which, after the laundry is in the dryer, I need to run out to get feed, fish, and fermented, distilled spirits. Also guess what I scored at the Freecycle zone today. Knives! a mostly complete set of Calphalon knives(Sorry, Miss_Owl, no cleavers)

Just testing out my new evil power.
- Do you require minions.
- Do offer a dental plan for said minions?

when I was growing up there was a cultural divide between the guys that played sports and the guys who were into camping, hunting and fishing.
I disdained both, and hung out with the nerds, stoners, and steak knife wielding hoodlums.
