(Old) March forth into victory in the MMP!

Happy Friday!

We skipped the park today as Rayleigh is still limping. Not as bad as yesterday, but another day of rest won’t hurt.
Not that he really rests, he is the most active of the three.
I wanted to go today since we are going to have a rainy day or two and then some cold in the 30s mornings with heavy winds.
Just as well though, I woke again at 330 in pain.

I have to find a new cardiologist.
The current one is in the armpit, and I don’t want to make that drive anymore. I used to stop in and visit with my mother, but now I’d drive down for the appointment and drive right back home.
I could stop at a friend’s house who lives just north of Baltimore, but depending on traffic, that could be another miserable drive.
Now that the weather is getting better, I hope she’ll come out here and spend a night or two.

It hit me yesterday that I miss the magnolia in my old backyard. I don’t know if I miss it enough to get one planted out here.
I do need to start looking for somebody to put in a patio and awning for me.
I still haven’t gotten a walk-in tub, but that is because I don’t want to deal with the mess right now. I should have had one put in before I moved in. I know the installers are going to have to take out part of the wall to fit the tub through the bathroom door.
A hot tub might be easier, but that is more work to take care of.

I wish I could bump my back wall out two feet.

Very nice cookbook Red, it is so cool

WOW! Hippie

I hope you feel better JtC

Try boiling it first.

(In all seriousness, I hope your first day goes smoothly. Just remember, “It’s rain, I won’t melt.”)

Worked the phones tonight, mostly.
Gawd, this gets annoying. Paraphrased, but you get the gist. Repeat ad nauseam, for hours, with half the callers either talking into a pillow, using The World’s Crappiest Bluetooth ™ or inebriated.
Or some unholy combination.

Me: “Okay, is that everything for your order?”
Caller: “Yeah, that’s it.”
Me: “Great, that’ll be $30.75, and it’ll be ready in 25 minutes.”
{ sends ticket to kitchen printer }
Caller: “Oh, can you add chicken to that pizza? Wait. No. On just half? And can I get … { muffled background negotiations with three other people } … yeah, no … okay, how much to add a pound of onion rings?”
Me: { (trying to keep up, typing frantically) I hate you so hard right now. }
Kitchen: Dafuq??
Caller: “Make sure it’s crispy.”
Me: { oh, I’ll make sure of something }
Caller: “Never mind on that chicken.”
Me: { head assplodes }
Kitchen: “So, what’re we makin’?”
Me: { stares into the void }

Hope things turn back around again. :people_hugging:

8 miles? That’s a lot of walking. Glad it’s continuing to get better. Is the bump permanent, or is there a chance it’ll go away?

Sounds like Rayleigh wants to be his own dog. I’m definitely learning about Shar Peis from you.

Last weekend I was thinking about mowing. Today’s not too warm, but I think next week there will be mowage around here. Especially if it dries out a bit.

Yay for something positive.

Ungrateful wrench. Hope it’s not too bad.

Have you ever carried it regularly or still do? Switzerland has banned switchblads - actually any knife which can be opened one handled. But everybody carries some sort of Swiss Army Knife.

Waves back. I went through about 2-3 years of ocular migraines, very irregular, but haven’t had a full on one for years. Hope it goes soon and stays gone.

Hope the good omens hold and this will soon be behind you.

Last week I mentioned making chicken pot pie, and then promptly forgot. I think this is a sign I should make chicken pot pie. But next weekend.

The hand-written recipe for noodles reminds me of the recipes from my grandmother. I’ve never had such nice handwriting.

Already? I really wish the US and Europe would coordinate their time changes again. We change the last weekend in March.

I’ve never seen ‘cash back’ in Switzerland, and I sort of forgot about it. But I used it a few times the last time I was in the U.S. Saves the hassle of finding an ATM, especially if I only want $40 or so.

I’m on the opposite end. I hate talking on the phone so much, I make notes for myself before calling anybody. Unfortunately I think I’m a bit out of driving range.

Shoulder’s better than Thursday, but I’ve been rolling it with the foam roller, some gentle stretches, heat pad and ibuprofen, so it seems I’m doing something right.

Today’s weather is gorgeous, but probably need a jacket. Gotta go to about 3-4 different grocery stores to get stuff. That will include dropping off the cans and bottles for recycling. Already have the first load in the washer and I need to go look at my list to see what other ‘fun’ stuff we have planned for today.

Happy Saturday!

Also a good way to avoid fees if you use a regional bank and are unable to find an ATM for yours in your current location. Just make a purchase (preferably something you needed/wanted/can use anyway) and select “cash back”. No “foreign ATM” fees.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is raining, but it is my Firday.

Except Harris Teeter is now charging for cash back.

“It’s Daylight Saving Time, so Spring Forward this weekend. Next weekend is St. Patrick’s Day, and if you imbibe too much, you’ll fall forward.”

< turns off lights, waves back >

I bet.

I’ve never encountered a store that did, but then I’m apparently not in Harris Teeter’s territory (I’m in California).

Glad I got this posting thing figured out. Back later and I’ll try to repeat what I just said that didn’t show up.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a dark and stormy day! It’s 68 Amurrkin out with a tstorm and heavy rain with a predicted high of 74 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted all day. Definitely a good day to be inside and dry. It will be a day of high sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’. However, we shall have a sup of roast beast (in the slow cooker) butterbeans with okra, rice 'n gravy, and rolls. Maybe I’ll make a peach cobbler since we do have good 'niller ice cream to go with.

Coppertone hope all goes well today.

Dicey hope the shoulder is feelin’ better soonest.

shoe ain’t drunk/duh customers the best!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Up, dressed and fed.
Today will be mostly watching instructional videos.
Hopefully I wont always go in so early. I don’t want to prep, I wanna make customers happy.
Its raining.

I had a terrible time falling asleep last night and I’m not sure why. We watched the last 2 episodes of season 7 of Shetland but that’s not what kept my head buzzing. My legs were itchy, and even lotion didn’t seem to help. It was definitely after midnight before I dropped off because I made FCD come to bed then - he was in his recliner watching random videos on his laptop. All this business with his mom is really weighing on him, especially since he was literally beside his dad when he died last year.

The day is starting dreary and rain is moving in. We’re supposed to get it all day and into the night, but next week shows sun and warmth. I will get out every day and work in my yard! Starting Moanday, I think. Certainly not today.

I’m going to do my best to get MIL’s room freed of my stuff so we can move her in rather than treat this like a visit. We’re taking her to visit with BIL, so while there, we’ll start gathering her belongings. I want to get her two Alexa speakers and the plugs so we can automate a few more things here. It’s amazing how one gets used to having a “smart” home. Yeah, we mostly just use it to turn lights on and off or set reminders, but it’s very handy.

So I see a busy day ahead.

Happy Saturday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/50f with a predicted high of 11c/52f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cloudy and still not a fucking good day to blast out unsolicited dick pics to random fuckwads.” OK, that’s fine 'cos I am not equipped to do that kind of thing

Dicey hope your shoulder is getting better now, you must be doing all the right things there.

metal mouse congrats on successfully using your debit card! I use mine a lot although I like to use good old cash for some things. We get cash back on ours, I could do that at the supermarket but usually forget about it and just stop at the very convenient ATM that sits between the railway station and the bus stop.

Pilot the financial untangling has started well then? Hopefully you can reach an easy resolution that suits you both with Her Ladyship kicking off.

hippie sounds like you had an interesting early life, glad to hear you’re still around and managed to make some good decisions along the way.

Moooom good to hear that MIL has a better walker and she can move around a bit easier with it. My mum had a couple of them, one was quite “substantial” and a real pain to pack into the back of the car. She got a lighter one as well, which was much more use for getting around her flat.

shoe don’t you just love the incomprehensible, indecisive and the plain drunk? I avoid most of that in my job, we just get the idiots. We had an email from a student who didn’t understand why he’d been emailed a location for a Latin class test when he’d deferred his exam to August. Had to explain in words of very few syllables that he’d deferred the exam, not the class tests. Also told him we’d defer everything to August for him, then the twit turned up at the class test venue and complained when he was told he couldn’t take the test until August. (In fairness, he is allowed extra time and we didn’t have a venue/invigilator for him as we’d cancelled that arrangement because…err…deferral!)

My weekend is going well so far - the Travel Gods actually smiled on me for once on a Friday afternoon and I got home with a minimum of bother. Had dinner, got myself tidied up and headed out to see a fab rock/blues band in our local hostelry. Made it home safely and was in bed by 2am. Alarm set for 9am to do feline bums and tums, drink copious amounts of tea and then visit the hairdresser. I’m all frou-frou’d now, and have made all my hair appointments up to the end of the year. How organised is that?

Back home slurping tea, off to town for lunch at the Good Chinese Place, then errands, then off to the Big Supermarket for a nose around. No plans for tonight apart from sofa time and a film or two. Post-erranding sloth!

Morning all. Up early (it seems when I sleep on the right side of the bed I get up earlier than when I sleep on the left side…weird). The rain has departed the area but it is still very overcast and cooler than yesterday, so probably a day of sloth is likely. May make it to the gym to make up for skipping it Thorsday, but not a big thing, so we’ll see how it goes.

shoe, sounds like staring into the void might not help, the drunk still is talking…

Coppertone, hope day 1 works out.

Wheelie, enjoy your Portland day. If you like reading try Powell’s Books, it’s several stories worth of browsing.

J-Bats, glad you’re doing better.

Sari, no house is perfect, hope the changes can be done to your satisfaction.

Sounds like a plan…

FCM, hope the move-in goes smoothly. Is BIL doing better on his own? And I don’t have Alexa but I look forward to your reports.

boofae, planning a year ahead is great; I’m maybe 3 days ahead if I’m lucky. Enjoy the well-earned sloth .

Time to break my fast and scrounge up something edible. Have a good Sattiday all.

I have always carried a pocket knife. I carried that knife for my juvenile delinquent days and then replaced it with a ]Buck Folding Hunter that I wore on my belt. I replaced that with a Leatherman Surge to wear at work.

My current EDC knife is a Kershaw Launch 11

Nice. Mine is a Kershaw Scallion. It gets frequent use and I feel naked without it. People always seem to get nervous when I open it for some reason. It’s only a 2-1/2" blade, so it’s not like I’m going to go on a killing spree with it. I gave all my other knives, folding and sheath, to one of my grandsons who is into hunting and fishing.

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s currently 40 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly cloudy. The expected high is 52F, with light rain or showers starting later today.

We’re supposed to take the pups to my son’s place today and hike to the beach. Not sure the weather will cooperate, but we’ll give it the ol’ college try.

I tried to read and keep up, but the pups demanded too much time yesterday while I was attempting to keep up. So, I’m sure I’ve missed some important stuff, but I send my yays, hugs, commiserations, and boos as appropriate.

FCM, I hope the MiL move-in goes smoothly. As sad as this is, I’m glad she accepted reality. I hope her passing is peaceful for all.

shoe, people are annoying. Way back in the mists of time, I worked at Pizza Hut (when it was still a sit-down restaurant with a salad bar. I remember those drunk calls.

Nellie, That’s lots of walking! I remember being proud of myself while doing 10 or more miles a day a couple/three years ago. I started with walking and had just transitioned to running, most of it when my knee said, “Nope!” and I hit the ground. After some recovery time, I managed to damage the other knee. I really need to get back to it!

Even though yesterday was my day off, I had to put in some time to keep on top of the project. Not much; it was only a couple of hours, but I charged for it.

metal mouse, I rarely use cash anymore. I carry some around in my wallet, but it takes a long time to spend it. It’s easier to just use the debit card. I write a check once a year, for my HOA dues, otherwise everything is via card or electronic.

j-bats, I’m glad you’re back on the road to recovery.

wheelie, I hope you enjoy(ed)your free time in Portland.

Yesterday was filled with puppy care, chores, and running errands. I had to go to two different stores to find a furnace filter for my furnace. I located one at Home Depot. While in Home Depot, I browsed the garden center, the flooring and tiling sections, the power tool section, and the paint section. I like browsing. I was proud of myself for not spending anything besides money on the filter. After that, I had to go to PetSmart and pick up some items for the pups, and then I had to pick up lunch and bring it home. As a special surprise to my husband, I braved Chik-filet. I’m not a fan of the place, and the one where I live is always stupidly crowded. I don’t really like their food, but I figured it was only fair that my husband gets something he wants, too.

dicey, I’m glad the shoulder has improved.

Well, the pups are busily scarfing breakfast down. I need to be ready to let them out for post-breakfast potty time.

Mornin’ all. About 8:30 as I start yappin’ here and I’ve been Dopin’ and caffinatin’ for a couple hours now. Sunny outside, 78/26 here about 2 hours post-dawn, and should hit 87/30 this afternoon. I achieved just about my limit radiation dose yesterday, so despite the ideal conditions outdoors, today will be a 95% indoor long pants long sleeves gooped-up face day. Ugh.

Dinner & dancing last night was great. Hung out with some fun random people then drove home with the top down and tunes cranked. In keeping with the MMP drink-o-the-day, a G&T was had to ward off both scurvy and malaria. So far so good on the medicinal front.

Yaay Adventure!! That makes all the counting and tracking & pencil work worthwhile.

Yaay! Feeling normal is the best revenge.

Shoe: you might consider never sending the order to the kitchen until after the phone is hung up. The 30 seconds you save sending it early doesn’t pay for the many last-moment changes and indecision by the idjit customers.

I can offer a few guesses. Even if you’re not actively stewing about MIL and all the attendant disruptions, your subconscious sure is. {{Hugs}}.

A perfect Firday night then. Congrats!

Wrap-up:
Mah tummy is rumblin’ that feedin’ need be soon. Might take myself out to better-than-Denny’s or maybe the crepe place. But that would involve shevelment; Decisions, decisions.

Happy weekend to those on conventional schedules!
Cheers all!!

Well, he has regular interactions with a social worker and he’s actually been going to a doctor, so maybe???

This is me. Apart from my Aldi quarters, if I have $20 in cash on me, it’s a lot. Unless we’re on the road - then I like to have a bit more cash, even tho everyone seems to take VISA.

I’m showered and dressed and waiting for FCD to come back from McD’s, tho I suspect he went to Lowe’s to get boxes because it doesn’t take that long even when McD’s is busy. When he gets home, we’ll plan our attack.

Okay. I had worked for the place before, different store. Now they have to merge my accounts. So I only got to stay an hour and a half, and not sure if I’ll even be able to get the pay next friday!
Its always something!

I inherited my mom’s recipe file when she passed. Most of the recipes in it were in the handwriting of her or whoever gave it to her. Me, I can write legibly when I try, but I’m a much better typist.

Beware though, some cash back from a POS also involve a fee. Usually, it’s in stores that working class and poor folks shop.

Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Other than that, slothage.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

@Chefguy

I have a scallion also. It is my go to knife for fly fishing. The point and edge are perfect for line trimming
