(Old) March forth into victory in the MMP!

:people_hugging:

Well, I spent my day dealing with a tow truck, the dealership, Allstate and Enterprise. The estimate to fix the car was ~$3K and it will take a couple of days, so I am now driving a blue Nissan Kick with 900 miles on it. Apparently, that pothole bent an axle, damaged the transmission, damaged the bumper and knocked it way the hell out of alignment. My agent knocked $200 off my deductible because a damage claim can be filed with the state of Tennessee, I’m guessing for that amount. The dealership said that they’re getting about three of these a day. Oy!

I mentioned your post to my husband, and he expressed curiosity as to what car you normally drive.

Here in Sacramento, the potholes aren’t QUITE that bad, but they’re pretty bad. The state keeps demanding more taxes on fuel ostensibly for road repair, but we see zero evidence that what they’re already getting is being used for its intended purpose, so I’m quite reluctant to be further scammed on that front.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and put away where it stays until it gets dirty again. It never ends does it! Sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up. I slothed. I napped. I read. I day drank. OYKW slothed, napped, and day drank. It’s been rainy off and on all day. Looks like more on the way soonish and through the early hours of tomorrow. Good to be inside and dry.

{{{MOOOOOOM, FCD, and MIL}}} not really much to say at a time like this. If hospice is the way chosen, just know that it is a wonderful service. They really will do all they can for all of you.

red what a sucky way to spend a vacation! At least you have a rental to use.

Two of my aunts had an argument sometime near the end of World War II. No one knows what the argument was about. The lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same church and shopped at he same stores but they never spoke to one another for the rest of their lives. I guess Aunt Mary went to Aunt Agnes’s funeral with a smile on her face, and died about a year later in 1980.

Did not actually do the laundry. I went to the library to pick up a book that had come in.
Feeling un useful, counting the days til Saturday, when I can earn money. If I don’t work this Saturday, I be going out with a large can begging.
I enjoy hearing about all your lives, ups and downs.
We’re a cool little group of Mumps! Monday has actually always been my favorite day.

My partner had the same thing happen about a month or so ago. He said the pot hole he hit was deep enough that, when a cone was put in it to warm people, the cone barely could be seen over the top. The state has been paying out a lot for these.

They’d been bad here before we got all that snow. Now they’re downright dangerous to life, limb and axel.

She really was one of a kind.

He suggested a few people in his practice and I kind of threw a dart and chose one. This will be the first female gyn I’ve had in decades. I just hope she is on with my polyamory and is effects on my girly bits. Otherwise, it’s back to the drawing board. red, if Vandy doesn’t give me any love, I’ll keep an eye on your guy. Thanks!

I’ve been doing similar, though for different reasons. I’m living on Bolthouse and yogurt. While I don’t feel your pain, I do get your situation.

That’s where I first met her face to face as well. I think NYC was her favorite Fest location. There were so many of us that she loved that went to it.

If that’s the case, then I’m full of grace… though there are far too many times I almost lost my grace thanks to the frustration they cause!

When I first saw this in my email, I was wondering how you got less of me. Then I remembered I’m fishy now instead of TP.

{{{FairyChats}}}

Safe journey home!

{{{dicey}}}

I understand that fully. May you get quality sleep soon.

A fast better way to spend the day, IMHO. What are you reading (asks the nosy bibliophile)?

Today was a somewhat decent day. GYN appointment went well, found out I’ve lost about 10 pounds since I was in the hospital, and took care of paying some bills. I tried to buy CtE’s senior pictures but the website was giving me problems. I’m going to try again tomorrow. The Meta crash had me frustrated since the way I communicate with most people is messenger, but I worked around it until it came back. Oh, and both kids were home today because school was closed for election day. So they were happy.

Tomorrow, I’m going to spend time with my partner, give him his birthday gifts and just enjoy the peace. When I get home, I’m going to color, I think. OT tells me it’s the best therapy for my hands right now. Any excuse to put crayon to paper is good for me!

Have a great night, all!

Oh my, what am I NOT reading? I was going to post it all in the Khadaji thread.
I am also a bibliophile, theres at least 3 books on the table at once. I am reading a book by Kat Timpf about how there shouldn’t be things you can’t joke about. The Way of the Weasel by Scott Adams.
Bad Habits by Jenny McCarthy.
Rise Up by Al Sharpton.
I am awaiting a book I know I’ll enjoy called The Trap by one David Icke.
I must be off to bed soon, probably to wake right after midnight to try Wordle.

Napped, had a Manhattan. Spot had some of my Redneck Stirfry.

{{{{FairyChats}}}}

Oy, indeed!

Happy Toosday!

Rainy morning, so no park today. The GR have been lazy all day anyway.

I had a dream my alarm was going off and I couldn’t turn it off. I had taken my phone apart trying to shut the damn thing up, apologizing to everybody around me for the noise.
That was the alarm I slept through.

It was a tiresome day today. Ordered and picked up groceries, but I didn’t have much get up and go.

MetalMouse, you would for sure win the bet about CVS. There are times when the morning at the park becomes a bitch fest about them. Petey dad hates them but he is stuck with them for now because none of the other pharmacies will take new customers who take narcotics. Some of my scripts aren’t covered by insurance and CVS is the cheapest.

JtC, good to know that the government check will probably be good. My truck doesn’t have a gas cap. Just a door.

Red, that sucks about your car. I hate driving rentals.

FCM, that vet bill does sound high. I got both boys neutered, and had additional tests done and it was under $1000.00 Then I added in heart worm and flea pills and brought it up. We were lucky yesterday; Rayleigh threw up outside.
Hospice was very helpful with my mother. I hope it gives you a bit of a break.

Pilot, your tales of travels make me feel lazy. They sound like a lot of fun though.

glad you are feeling better, Rocky

I hope you continue to recover well Fishy

It’a almost 11, I should have been in bed an hour ago.

I’m going to hell for laughing so hard.

That seriously sucks.

I’m glad you thought to call your insurance company, I would have done it backwards and gotten frustrated.

Laundry is kinda meh to me. The machines do all the work, I just move things around when the buzzers go off. Now…laundry is VBC’s favorite chore because she knows that we always leave some warm laundry for her to cuddle into. She just lurves towel washing day, she spends her afternoon happily burrowing around under a pile of towels and washcloths.

Pushing asphalt is hard work. If the state isn’t able to raise wages for the grunts, the grunts will move on to housing developments where they get more money.

Grins. My mother is a saint. Not only did she not kill me, she raised 3 more daughters who also survived puberty while all five of us women cycled in sync. Dad pretty much lived in the garage a week out of every month.

Hubs got notified that our new stove will be delivered tomorrow between 11 and 3. He has no plans and my only plans are dealing with our surplus produce box so someone will be home and awake at all times. (Hubs likes to nap three times a day now.)

We got in touch with the local scrap guy who asks that we do not have our old stove taken to the road, just text him and he’ll be over to get it. We will just push it out onto the front porch and he can back his trailer to the base of our ramp.

I’m still mad at the toilet paper roll makers - bastids - so moved on to a small project that Mom had given me. Americana by Sandie Cormaci-Boles.

I do not recommend. She did the instructions with that cursive script that was so popular in back in 2003 AND small type because new designers didn’t want to waste paper. The colors look like the finished piece is going to be kinda muddy…but Mom must have seen the finished work if she bought it. Or she wanted to support a new designer, she would buy things she didn’t really like if she thought the designer showed promise.

When I called Mom today, she didn’t remember the piece but said she had some more to send to me. An hour later, she called me asking for my mailing address.

I had NO idea that this was an issue. Holy cow. Is this because of the “War on Drugs” or is it because the pharmacies don’t want the risk of people breaking in to steal the narcotics?

Despite being a pothead, I am pretty clueless about drugs, but that just seems very punitive.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Today’s outlook:

War on Drugs, a shortage of stuff for new pts(Thanks Oxy people!), and it a mess to deal with Schedule II stuff, especially when Corporate understaffs you, and expects you to do 50-100 calls a day to get people on 90 day refills/auto refills.

This warmed my entire soul.

It’s a franchise. There’s several locations … one of which is actually locally notorious for being the “bad” one.

Like, I can’t tell you how many people tell me that they go out of their way to come to ours, instead of the crappy one. Apparently, theirs is super greasy, somehow.

The crappy one is north Muskegon. Different owner.

Anyway, the different spellings may reflect the different locations.

There was an ambulance in front of the Walgreens when I left work. Drove off with no lights and no apparent loading drama.

Maybe they ran outta Band-Aids?

Cops were up in our Kool-aid tonight. At one point, three cars were in our lot. No lights, just … noodling.
One drove off, and the other two had an extended conference while blocking our side exit.

I found an excuse  to step outside and gave my best cheerful innocent, “Everything okay, officers?” They assured me that it was … and promptly set up a speed trap across the street.

I started just telling everyone who came through to drive verrrrrry carefully, that the cops were out & about. A couple of them even told me, “Oh, yeah, I seen 'em!”

I haz a very unhappy about my fridge/freezer. I’ll be trying out that “melted ice cream” trick sooner than I though, it seems.
Brought most of my “best” frozen stuff up to work, to stash in the walk-in there. Hope to hell my crew doesn’t eat it tomorrow when I’m off.

Gonna call the appliance folks tomorrow morning. They’ve been out here a coupla times before - it’s a known issue with this brand - and I just about lost it at work over all this new stress.

I just got over being sick as shit; I’m already terrified of this year’s tax stuff, and now this. :upside_down_face:

Up from stupid dream, feel gunky. When will I be back to 100%?
You all stay sheveled for now.
:zzz::sleeping_bed:

Oh, yeah, one more funny for y’all. Or maybe it was just funny to me.

Was sent to Gordon’s on a produce run. Came back laughing, “Gordon’s needs to go on a produce run themselves!”

My list included 4-5 zucchini.

I got the last two in the store, and if there isn’t a dick joke in there somewhere …

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/37f with a predicted high of 9c/49f, and mostly cloudy. Those of you on the book of farces will be able to see the pic from my walk into work this morning. That’s a lot of cloud!! Weather app agrees, and says “Of all the fucking cloudy days, this one is a complete wankface. At least it’s not that fucking cold outside.”

{{{{{FairyChats}}}}}

Sari happy Doperversary! I see you have the tell-tale slice of cake by your name

JtC I’m happy to report that there was minimal fuss and drama over the recycling this week. The idiots on one side still put out every bin they’ve got, and the ones the other side have managed to decipher the details of their orange tag. I suspect they’ve put household rubbish in the recycling, so now they’ve had to take that out and dump it elsewhere as their normal bin is always full to overflowing. 'im indoors tells me that NextDoor is rife with complaints about the tagging system, and full of people claiming their bin hasn’t been emptied because they left it on the street and some passing schoolie put a sweet wrapper in it! That’s usually followed by a declaration that they’re never bothering to recycle anything again.

shoe isn’t it great knowing how much you and your pizza skills are loved? I realised I’ll be across the lake from you for a couple of days (we’re spending a bit of time in Milwaukee later this month). I’ll be able to wave to you!

red sorry to hear about the expensive repairs too. My car had an unexpected suspension repair too, caused by potholes too. I may have to try suing the council instead.

Busy day today, I have meetings and the final bits of staff reviews to complete. I did most of the work at home over the last couple of days but I need to squeeze a few other little bits in there too. Strong cup of tea required first!

pretty much my thoughts

They were wonderful last year when FIL was dying, and we expect no less this time around.

That’s the way I see it, minus the buzzers. I create a reminder on Alexa because I can’t hear the tinkly little chimes all the way downstairs - even when I am downstairs! I don’t even mind folding the clean stuff - generally I’ll take the basket directly to our bedroom and put away as I fold.

Of course, there’s more to it when I can hang everything on the lines, but that hasn’t happened since last summer - the weather has been horrid!!

I imagine CVS issues have a lot to do with management. Ours is aces! Even when MIL was in Indy and had to get refills out there, then after she came back, it was virtually seamless. I guess we’ve got a good crew here in Leonardtown.

Poor FCD about had a coronary yesterday. He went by the boatyard to check on some testing we need to have done on our boat - it’s got a funky electrical issue. The yard manager started listing off all kinds of things they’d found, and then he mentioned the trim tabs. Our boat doesn’t have trim tabs, or an offset stern thruster.

The manager got owners/boats confused (WHEW!!) - they haven’t run the tests on ours yet. But I hope they do it soon - we want to be back in the water and back to our slip in early April, and after the testing and the fix, we need to have the bottom painted, as part of the problem caused areas of paint around metal items to literally blow away. It’s weird - there are big circles where the last few coats of paint are completely gone! But the tech at the boatyard is supposedly an expert on this particular issue, so there’s that.

MIL is going back to her apartment today to gather more of her belongings to bring here and to give her other son whatever he can use before we bring the rest to our basement. At dinner last night, she kept asking me if I wanted this or that, and I hated to be so negative, but I have everything I need, and I definitely don’t need 3 dozen more placemats or two sets of flatware or any of her pots and pans.

Well, maybe we’ll be able to use some stuff on the boat - I don’t recall what I have on board. We will take our microwave back to the boat, and she has some stainless mixing bowls that I know I can use. I’m glad we’re not having to fight her on this - after her several falls, she recognizes that she can’t possibly live alone. She’s even getting used to me making and bringing her lunch - there’s no way she can function in the kitchen. So now we just need to get used to our new normal. And find room for a lot of stuff that we will get rid of after she dies.

I plan to make a big batch of sloppy joes today. Which means I’ll need to buy some buns - you can’t eat sloppy joes on bread - the very idea!!! Or if I get ambitions, I could make some with the bread maker… hmmmmm…

Which reminds me - Daughter asked me to make her a couple of batches of pizza dough so she and Roxy can make pizza together. Hope I can find the recipe I used for her last time.

Yep, kitchen day ahead. Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 74 and mostly cloudy. This mornin’ we shall procure provisions. Not a lot needed so will be a quick trip, hopefully. Sloth, general over uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ will then ensue. This evenin’ is Lenten book study over to the church house, so sup will be soup 'n sammich. Thus shall it be today in swampland.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Woe!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Thank you, Coppertone. It’s hit or miss as to what might fix BMS and so far it’s been a miss. Today in addition to burning, my sense of taste is off. The worst thing about BMS, though, is the tongue biopsy that I had done. It’s like, the good news is that I do not have oral cancer. The bad news is that having a tongue biopsy was the single most painful experience in my entire life. And there was no offering of pain meds afterwards.

Anyways, on to today. I won’t go into detail, but things are kind of stressful around here and I’m going to face it with less than optimal sleep because I was worried about my mom last night and ended up attempting to sleep on the couch (because her bedroom is on the first floor). So now I’m sitting here caffeinating and trying to psych myself up for an exciting rainy day. Blah.

ETA: As a weird, overweight person I found it particularly funny this morning to learn that March 4 was both Weird Pride Day and World Obesity Day. Obviously, the two must be combined!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 27 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly clear outside. The grass is crunchy, well, what little remains of the grass in the back. We’ll have a mixture of clouds and sun throughout the day, with an expected high of 45 degrees Fahrenheit. At least it’s not raining!

I have read but not retained all. It’s been a very, very busy couple of days.

FCM, I’m sending continued hugs to you and the family. It looks like MiL has accepted things, and all anyone can do is hang on.

fishy, glad the recovery continues to go well.

red, I’m sorry about the car, the expense, and the pothole.

nellie, I’m glad the tummy is better.

boofae, I saw the picture in the book of faces. Yep, it’s definitely pea soupy there!

I called out on Monday. Woke up with both a horrible headache and dizziness, and I knew what was next. After getting things out of my system, I slept intermittently until 2:00 p.m. I woke up still fighting a headache, but the pain eventually let up. After I could move around a bit, I tidied things up and then looked at my work computer to get a jump on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, I headed to the office, was in the building, and logged in by 5:10. The day was filled with all kinds of must-dos, including following the MPA to drop off our GSA truck at a shop for the installation of running boards and a tonneau cover. I left the office around 2:30, stopped for fuel, then came home and logged in for an additional three hours of work.

I’m a little irritated at one of the programs’ lack of progress and action on a project, so I need to figure out how to address this. One of the staff members from the program stopped by to complain about the notifications from the SharePoint I set up for this project and wanted to turn them off. I told her, again, that those notifications meant she had documents to pull, print, and load into NARA boxes for shipment. I told her the instructional email I sent to her and the entire team and explained all that, and she said she didn’t get it. I pulled it up, showed her, and sent it to her again. She said no one, but she was there, and they didn’t plan to have more staff there until Thursday. With this lackadaisical attitude, I will never make the deadline, and I will not let this project fail. I can’t. I need to talk to that program director again.

Bitch and moan, bitch and moan. Sorry.

Friday is my day off, and I’m not working extra. I will work late today and tomorrow, but other than certifying my timesheet, I will not work.

I need to buckle down and call roofing companies for bids to get the roof replaced. I just let the time slide by last year, and I really can’t do it this year. Once I know what I’m facing, I will figure out how I’m going to finance it. It won’t be cheap; I have a large two-story house with many pitches and angles. I’m sure I need new sheathing as well.

Okay, time to face the day. Need to run the dishwasher, feed the pups, and start my workday.
