(Old) Motion To Vacat(ion)- An Off Work MMP

goodness, what a monday morning.

i am at work today, i have tuesday off for a readcation. donna andrews’ new book will arrive in my kindle early tuesday morning, and i will leisurely read it. the reading will kick off at a restaurant for breakfast, followed by snacks back at the flat. i’m sure lager will join with snuggles and purrs.

i got some new fun desk things at the office. i have a new computer mouse that looks like a hamster, little cat hooks for the monitors, cat face binder clips, and 2 new desk toys.

we also have 2 new jigsaw puzzles for the office. one person read an article that stated if you get puzzles from the same manufacturer the pieces are all cut the same. we will try that out. we have 2 puzzles that have 300 pieces from the same company. this should be fun.

i do hope everyone’s day improves soon.

She is going in tomorrow morning (0800). I’m really hoping she just didn’t get spayed, that would be the easiest thing to fix.

Your hike sounds lovely. How long do you think it will be before you can take the pups with you?

Back home. The damage was down the whole left side, including this:

FCD has sore ribs and his left ear was temporarily deaf, but it’s coming back. Lucky for him, a state trooper was right there and he had a recording of the accident - it was the other driver’s fault. Witnesses said FCD ran the red, but he didn’t. So WHEW! Thank goodness the trooper was there.

I expect he’ll be really sore in the morning, but I put a lidocaine patch on his side where he said it hurt the worst. It turns out both vehicles are insured by GEICO, which should make the claim process easier. FCD thinks they might total the car. I dunno - we shall see. Lucky for us we have another vehicle, since I don’t carry car rental coverage.

Our pellets will be delivered tomorrow, so I need to clear space in the garage. That will be my afternoon. Onward!

FCM Yikes! FCD is very lucky, both in that he’s not hurt worse and that the trooper was there.

JtC Hope it all goes well for Bella.

I’m just biding my time until I go to the doc tomorrow. I really hope they can do something about this. Numb feet and left hand is getting annoying.

Yeah, I guess if one has to be in a car accident, it is better to have a recording. Better still if he hadn’t been hit, I hope he isn’t too sore tomorrow.

I didn’t know it was affecting your hand too, this really sucks. I hope the doctor can do something to help your recovery.

Went to doc.
Bp 126/80. Great.
Everything seemed fine to her.
She thinks it was a hypoglycemic episode.
Just cake no protein.
I was in a hurry.
She told me to eat eggs before I go out.

Cake has eggs. But glad there’s nothing else wrong.

Ouch, FCM! glad there’s a recording.

Not as bad here, thankfully…

He drove it home (a mile from where the collision occurred), but the wheel is wobbly and there’s a scratch or scuff mark on it from impact and we’re not going to drive it 20-30 miles to an approved body shop. So all the calls have been made, towing today and rental tomorrow.

Well, despite a crappy weekend for the cat, she’s doing better this morning. Finished her nighttime food and polished off a scrambled egg this morning. So now we’re holding off taking her to the vet. No sense having the trauma if it’s not needed.

On the other hand, she managed to get herself stuck behind a bi-fold closet door, between the door and a large filing cabinet. With her now-limited flexibility, she couldn’t turn around to get out. Without going into the total fucking disaster that has been my wife’s computer room for the past two years, we had one bitch of a time getting her out of there, as her leg was stuck under the door. I was afraid we were going to have to get building maintenance up here. Additional fun: I damn near fell over her this morning.

The rain and cooler air arrived as advertised, so we’ve had the windows open to air out the funk.

Well, the Body Shop industry has two new customers…just very glad no one was hurt too bad (although I suspect both gentlemen will be achy tonight or tomorrow as the adrenaline settles out of their system).

Shopping and sammich are both complete and will probably head out to do my swimming early, that way I can break it up into 3 sets instead of two (with readin’ in the whirlpool between sets) and still get out in time to be ready for soccer.

Cookie, glad to hear your feline is doing better health-wise and doing cat things (getting stuck). And NO FALLING allowed!! We have enough crisis for one day!

Coppertone, glad it wasn’t anything serious. Take care of yourself now.

VanGo, have started crossing appendages for a good Dr. report.

FCM, glad to hear about the trooper being there.

Taters, happy vacationing and hope you can find that peaceful trail.

Rocky, sounds like your workplace is rather ‘laid-back’, I suspects it would be fun to work there. Enjoy the day’s reading, I have about 3 days worth of NY Times to go through, need to do a full read-day myself.

And onward into a eventful Moanday on the MMP.

That’s the biggest piece of luck, since the witnesses were wrong.

Update: the tow truck driver thinks they’ll probably total it - he took it to a salvage yard to be evaluated. The other driver was minimally insured, so GEICO said they’d waive our deductible. And thankfully when FCD bought the car, he got the gap insurance, so we shouldn’t be out of pocket. Unfortunately, we don’t have a vehicle to trade in so a replacement will likely cost us more than this one did - dammit. We shall have to see. I may have to fight FCD about getting less than the top-of-the-line model. We’ll have to see how that goes.

Sticky - you too?? Welcome to the club!

My other morning bit of bitching involves MIL - she was asleep when I went to get FCD, but she got up and decided to make her own toast. She made a piece of the raisin toast she’s been eating for months and decided she didn’t like it today, so she threw it away and toasted some rye. She couldn’t see to put cinnamon on her toasts, and when I came home, there was cinnamon all over the counter and in the butter.

I took her with me when I ran to the credit union and the pharmacy just so she could get out for a bit. When we got home, she was going to make herself a grilled cheese sandwich. Even tho she doesn’t know where I keep the frying pans or the spatula and she can’t seen the controls on the stove. Needless to say, I made the sandwich.

I know she wants to be independent. I get that. But she should know by now that she can’t. When she tries to do stuff, she makes a mess. I’m approaching the end of my rope.

As we left CVS she said “I wonder what would happen if I stopped taking my meds?” I said “You’d probably die in your sleep.” and she said “That wouldn’t be too bad.” What do I do with that???

Today sucketh mightily.

I’m extremely careful about knowing where she is at all times. She tends to follow us around and then lurks behind you. She’s not agile enough now to get out of the way. My balance has always been extremely good. My wife’s has always been utter shit, so I’m more worried about her taking a spill in that situation.

whoa nelly!

i’m glad fcd is okay.

both my mother and aunt would talk about passing at home during the night. it is a bit disconcerting.

wow! i’m glad he’s okay. must have been tough driving that with the wheel and hood.

Anybody else read this as shoe is also getting fixed?

Sorry to read about the car accidents and resulting damage.

At least the cats are doing a bit better.

Went to work today after 2 weeks off. Most of the office is empty, but that has nothing to do with other people having vacation. It’s just what it is.

We’re having a heat wave and so sleeping may be difficult. At least we have a fun.

Moanday does see to be the right description for today. Hope tomorrow’s better.

i’m “back of the house” in the mail/supply/file room. i do have an easier time than the areas that may be seen by the very few clients that stop by.

In non-accident news, I just finished clearing the back of the garage for the pellet delivery tomorrow. I hope they can maneuver the pallet beside the ramp so I don’t have to take it out. The other two won’t be a problem. Photo on FB.

I got a call from the towing company about releasing the Santa Cruz to the salvage company. I’m hoping FCD can get over there this afternoon to retrieve his personal stuff - otherwise it’ll go to Waldorf and he’ll have farther to drive, assuming they total it. We shall see how it goes.

I just got done sitting and waiting for 35 minutes for my therapist to show up at my online appointment. Not like her to not at least send up a smoke signal. Hope she’s ok.

Our car has been :frog:. I have pacified the household as much as possible. I’m thinking it’s about nap time.

OK, having read this morning’s posts, I’m now officially even more nervous as hell about venturing forth into traffic than I normally am, and my “normal” can be pretty bad, as DH can attest. Careful hugs to all who need or want them, and I’d recommend that those involved in crashes get some precautionary ibuprofen or such (some anti-inflammatory, anyway) on board ASAP. That’s advice I got from a doctor after a crash myself, and it’ll make tomorrow a bit less painful.

Buddy’s pretty much in full-on brat mode, and showed interest in going outside for the first time in at least a month. He did get some supervised patio time, but I’m still not sure I trust him to come back in in a timely manner if he goes over the fence. Allie’s solidly in grumpy old lady mode. Normal feline service has been resumed (except that neither is sleeping on the bed with the humans. Grump).

Just general household stuff. Got some stuff out of the fridge that had overstayed, and I think I got there before civilizations developed. My Amazon driver is going to hate me today, since I’ve got multiple packages, at least one of which is going to be heavy. At least my FedYecchs package that disappeared from tracking for several days is now in Sacramento and tagged as out for delivery.

That’s two too many wrecks for my taste! {{{{{FCM, FCD, Sticky_Buns, and MusicMan}}}}} I’m glad no one was badly hurt, and I must say, based on way too many encounters with wrecks and insurance adjusters, that those are both photos of totalled cars. Once a wheel is involved, things start getting really expensive really fast.

Cookie, it’s good to hear that Q’itih is doing a bit better and is back to the serious cat business of trying to murder her humans. I often think Mr. L and I should just start using walkers just so the cats can’t take us off our feet!

BooFae, congratulations on a successful fundraiser! My hat is off to you - the thought of organizing something like that makes my head spin.

shoe, I do hope your Big Bosses pull the stick out and get your equipment repaired or replaced! I don’t suppose a quick call to the health inspectors would get their attention?

Coppertone, I’m glad to hear it wasn’t anything serious. Low blood sugar while trying to catch a bus in August heat is a tough combination. I also often eat just carbs for breakfast and then wonder why I’m so shaky, so I’ve taken to keeping a few hardboiled eggs in the fridge so I’ll have a quick source of protein to balance it out. It’s also good to hear you were able to reschedule your appointment!

JtC, I’m glad to know they can see Bella so soon, if only for GG’s sake. Am I a bad person for finding the image of him carrying her around just to shut her up hysterically funny?

VanGo, I hope you can get some relief for the nerve problems.

rocky, it sounds like you have the perfect tiny vacation planned, although it also sounds fun at the office. Someday, I’m going to clear off enough of a flat surface to do a jigsaw puzzle!

Taters, your vacation plans sound lovely. Here’s hoping you can get away from the loud, littery people. I always wonder why they even bother getting outdoors, since they obviously don’t appreciate it.

doggio, I hope you greatly enjoy your time off. You’ve sure earned it!

I’m with you, MetalMouse, I hope everyone stays safe out there!

I’m always on vacation now, of course, but we’re planning a trip to see Older Daughter in October for the baby shower, which is scheduled her birthday. Her best friend from high school contacted me to let me know she’ll be going and taking her one-year-old along, so we’re going to book the same flights and travel in tandem. I haven’t seen her baby yet (she’s been very cautious about Covid), so I’m looking forward to getting some baby time.

Mr. L’s PET scan is Wednesday, and I’m simultaneously anxious to get it done and fearful of what it will show. I just hope his oncologist looks at it promptly and interprets it for us, since I know if the results got the health portal before the doctor’s reading, Mr. L will obsess over it with the help of Dr. Google.
