Well that was a waste of time. I went to the free clinic again for my feets, they had a chiropractor see me.
Um, I don’t think he can crack the Lyme out of you.
The interview went well.
He is not The hiring person but I told him my available hours and my experience so I shall see.
My other interview is Thurs and its much closer.
Costco run today. I compared the price for Kirkland bacon ($16/4lbs) with the package I got at a local grocery last week ($9/12oz or $12/lb). Basically a third of the price. Gouge much? Farmer’s market this afternoon for our weekly haul. Corn is at peak right now and is so wonderfully sweet.
Nice, mild sunny day after yesterday’s deluge.
Q’tih seems no worse today and gobbled up her scrambled egg this morning. We’re having to clean her face after eating, as the arthritis hampers her movement.
Rode up in the elevator with a woman in a wheelchair who reeked of sour urine. I know people end up like that and I’m sure it’s not pleasant for her, either. I told my wife to please kill me if I get to that stage. She thinks I’m joking.
Afternoon all. Shopping was successful, both soccer balls and jeans were on sale and the Gift Card worked, so instead of spending ~$300 like I expected, the charges were under $200. Have lunched and will go to the gym shortly prior to the 5:30pm soccer time with the 8-year olds. Have offered to teach my “Goalkeeping 101” to the kids, since this will be their first season with a larger goal and goalkeepers (through U8 they play on a small field with little portable goals). We’ll see if it is needed. Up to 91F again, no rain to be seen, it’s all on the Atlantic coast.
doggio, well-played, sir.
FCM, so the pellets on the pallets are in the garage that is large… Glad to hear FCD doesn’t have anything broken.
Taters, guess I’m not very neighborly either, I talk to the folks who have been living next door to me for the last 20 years and wave at the other neighbors, but that is about it. Hope the over starts behaving.
VanGO, guess that’s why it’s a free clinic; hope you get some professional help there soon.
Coppertone, fingers crossed through Thorsday.
Whoops. I went to Trader Joe’s to get my Cobb salad for lunch (I’m in the orifice today), some Joe-Joes (TJ’s version of Oreos… or maybe Hydrox) for The Missus, and more avocados. I picked up a case of cheap plonk (‘Four Buck Chuck’ Cabernet Sauvignon). I went to put the case o’ wine into the back of the Prius, only to find that there was a case of wine already back there. I’d picked it up last week and forgot to take it into the house.
Anyway, I’m eating my Cobb salad.
Well, damn it.
Unplugging it and then plugging the oven back in didn’t work either. It took forever to get to 415F, and it just stopped there. It could be the element, something with the electronics, or a fuse. It could just be a POS. When researching the oven, I discovered it was part of a class action lawsuit because of the so-called Aqua Clean technology. It doesn’t have a proper self-clean function; it only uses steam to clean it, and I’ve never felt like my oven was clean using this stupid technology. I wanted both steam and self-clean functions. The salesman sold us a bill of goods, but more importantly, I should have looked a little more closely.
Anyway, I have someone coming out on Friday to diagnose it. In the meantime, I was completely grossed out when I pulled out the oven—it’s apparently been a minute since I’ve pulled it out.
: I was kind of grossed out. There was even a little Polar fur under there. But, the floor has been swept and scrubbed under the oven. The cupboard walls flanking the oven, as well as the sides of the oven have also received a proper scrub down. It’s amazing how much ick builds up there. I need to get those crack covers. I could have sworn I had pulled it out around Christmas time, but I guess not.
Anyway, coming up on the hair appointment, and then I’ll swing by Home Depot.
FCD is napping - they gave him a muscle relaxer and told him to take it easy. We’ll see how that goes. I took a load to the thrift store, so that’s some more crap out of the garage. Tomorrow I’ll try to do the convenience center.
We’ve been looking at replacement vehicles on line - our dealer has 2 Santa Cruzes in black - one with black interior and one with gray. FCD was looking at the Santa Fe, but it’s about $10K more so I don’t think that will happen. I’m hoping we hear today from GEICO so we can get moving.
We got a refund check from Merrylande from our 2022 return - a whopping $17!!! Not quite enough to replace the car.
Supper tonight will probably be weenies or leftover Chinese. And grape 'maters. Boy howdy do I have grape 'maters!! Plus I harvested two big beefeaters, so that was nice. And I lost another melon, and that suxxxxx!! Stoopit bugs. I’m doing something wrong - must research.
And so it goes.
Our poor lil kittah is a very sick little girl. She has a very bad UTI and the infection has spread to her kidneys. She was acting like she was in heat because the infection also made her vulva swell up so much that she thought she was in heat. (or so they say, she was quieting down yesterday and actually slept most of the night so it is possible she does have ORS as well, but they didn’t check for it after they got the other blood work back)
We both feel horrible, but then, how could we have known? We usually know when one of ours is sick because they are acting different, somethings just not quite right. Bella came to us sick so we didn’t notice anything different until she started really acting weird.
We were expecting to pay for this because she is our cat now but the vet told us that the rescue would pay for everything because they gave us a sick cat. Of course we will make a donation to the rescue, but isn’t expected or required.
So, off we go to pick her up. Poor GG has missed her, I hope he recognizes her when she comes home smelling like the vet. Or poop.
Both times she’s been in the car, she’s pooped in the carrier. The first time I had the towel folded nice and neat and she couldn’t “dig” it up to bury it so she got poop on her feet. This time I had kinda fluffed the towel but left lots of edges she could grab if needed so she was able to “bury” it and stay clean. If we come home with a poopy towel again, we will have to get some pee pads for her yearly vet check-up.
Windsong quilt month number five is another four blocks:
once they were done there was some assembly. This is the nine blocks that make up the center of the quilt:
I am having a real good time making this. It is a nice challenge.
JtC Poor Bella! Hope she’s feeling better soonest.
hippie That stitchery work is gorgeous. Do you eventually make quilts out of them?
I now have an appointment with a real doctor in a couple days. Hoping they will have more cure ideas for Lyme than a chiropractor. Yay, the joys of US healthcare if’n you don’t have insurance.
Or even if you do have insurance… My husband and I have excellent insurance but we are constantly finding that either it takes three months to find a doctor to see or the one you see leaves out a bunch of things you need to know about your problem and then tells them to you one at a time over several weeks or months, Right now husband is waiting for results of an x-ray to find out if he has gotten rid of the pneumonia he had (have you heard of Community-Acquired Pneumonia?) or if he needs to undergo another round of the antibiotics that made him be sick as a dog every day for a week and lose 6 pounds. So far nothing. He has asked to know the results and been told the doctor will let you know when he has the results. And has been told the doctor has the results but has not read them. For over a week. I think the doctor is on vacation.
Sorry Paintcharge, didn’t mean to go on a rant. I hope you get a non-chiropractor who understands Lyme soon.
Actually, it turned out that all they wanted was a ballpark count of the devices in our location.
Dairy manure is nothing compared to the chicken and hog operations south of the town where I grew up. When the wind came from the south, the whole town smelled terrible.
Me too.
Lovely!
Poor Bella and GG. Hope she’s feeling better soonest.
Irked, got the baseline count done (the upkeep should be easy-peasy), came home, got met at my car by my neighbor’s grandpuppy, Blue (shih tzu mix and cute as a button), got barked at by Lupio and Petey across the fence and about the time I took Nelson out, met up with Sugar and Sully next door. I’m awash in doggies!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and put where it lives until it gets dirty again. It never ends. I got twuck back today, YAY! We had some quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and day drinkin’. It’s less stoopid hawt right now, so ‘twas nice out. Then we had a late N.O.L./early sup. Next up is Netflix, chill and popcorn. We’re goin’ to watch Sordid Lives.
MOOOOOOM glad it’s nuttin’ worse than bruises.
doggio my vehicle has been known to automatically turn into the KK parkin’ lot when the “Hot Now” sign is on.
Taters hope the oven is an easy fix.
JtC sorry Bella is sick, but yay for the rescue footin’ the bill. Hope she’s all better soonest. I am sure GG will be happy to have his little sister back.
Hippie tres chic quilt!
awww poor kitty i think this rescue has a few questions to answer tho …but as someone who had a misgendered cat from petsmart adoption day it doesn’t surprise me
Tornado siren went off at 4.30.
Huge rain, not a lot of lightning.
Lights flickered.
Tree parts down.
South of us got it much worse.
It is beautiful and I also like patterns that challenge me. It makes my brain feel good when I get it right
Two pills daily for a week and a twice daily squirt of liquid meds down her throat. She doesn’t like squeezy crack. This is going to be so much fun.
GG followed the carrier in and greeted Bella with a nose bump as soon as the top was opened. She got a good sniffing up, then we fed them and pills got shoved down her throat while GG got her Churu. Now they are cuddled up on the bed.
She still acts like she’s in heat, though.
That looks like a good movie.
Happy Toosday!
Nice cool morning at the park, but it didn’t stay cool for long.
Misiu seems to be better. He hit the park running this morning.
Echo is behaving herself with the new doodles. She ignores them, but she does like their mom.
We are supposed to get rain all this week, starting today, but I haven’t seen any yet.
I’m not getting much done around here, not like I want to.
My lack of motivation is frustrating.
Good evening all. Managed to help keep about 30 8-year olds busy with soccer for 75 minutes (of which they paid attention too about 16-17 of them). Came home to the usual 2sDay Mac-n-Cheese with some applesauce to top it off, so should be fed until tomorrow. Rest of the evening will be internettin’ and readin’, more or less in that order.
Sari, glad Misiu is doing better. And motivation isn’t something to order about; it’ll come to you in due course (IMHO as always).
Flyboy, now let me get this straight; you bought a case of wine when you already had a case of wine you had forgotten? Exactly how much of that wine had you drank??
Taters, sorry to hear about the oven issues. Hope it’s fixable with only a few $$$.
FCM, looked at those cars out of curiousity, was rather taken by the Santa Fe, they have it in hybrid and the price isn’t too bad…will have to consider that next year. And don’t go spending that refund check wildly now!!
JtC, some soft hugs to Bella; at least you got her to the right place and got it taken care of now, so don’t feel bad, anyone would have reacted the same as you. Glad she is home and I’m sure she will respond well to treatment (and stop confusing GG).
hippy, lovely work.
red, lots of dogs in your neighborhood; I’m a little jealous. As for smells, I still remember living near Akron, Ohio when I was little and when it was still “The Rubber Capital of the World”. The smell of rubber in production is…unique, and not in a good way.
swampy, glad twuck is back where it belongs.
Coppertone, stay safe, sounds like a bad storm but looks like it’s moving southeast of you now.
Alrighty, after 8pm so need to finish the evening You-Tubing and head off to do my reading. Take care all.
