Until you look at the loan rates for used cars - the payments are close enough that it doesn’t make sense - in some cases, 3-4% higher rates. Plus around here, finding a low-mileage used vehicle is nigh on to impossible. We’ve looked many times.
When we were kids, my grandmother always had cans of ravioli on hand, just in case. It was a huge treat for us! Altho some years later, I got some for nostalgia’s sake, and it just wasn’t the same. Either the recipe changed or my palate was more refined. These days I find I prefer frozen or refrigerated ravioli or tortellini with my homemade sauce. Yes, I cook the ravioli - I don’t serve it cold. (note added for the resident smarty-pantses)
We bought that car in November - less than a year ago. I’m pretty sure we’re still upside down on the loan, but we’ll see. Partly because someone bought the service contract… Until the adjuster gets back to us, we won’t know.
I’m hoping FCD will decide to replace what was lost with the same vehicle rather than the bigger one. I was thinking about our options last night and I have a proposal to suggest to him.
BTW, $50K is more than I spent on each of my first 2 houses back in the early 80s - times have changed…
I am confused about the difficulty several of you are having in finding jobs, or maybe not. All around this county, there are signs saying “We’re hiring!!!” But I’m guessing that’s for minimum wage crap jobs? I know my daughter was looking for 3 months before she landed where she is, out of the education world in a job that doesn’t follow her home every night, and one that has decent pay. So maybe I’m not confused. Ignore me.
Did I mention my tire with the slow leak? Turns out I had a nail that somehow got into the sidewall, so the tire had to be replaced. There’s another $180-something that wasn’t budgeted. Dammit. Plus I had to leave it since they won’t get the replacement tire till today. Hoping I get it back this morning because I have some errands to run. The crap sammich keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Not to mention the little twinge I got in my back yesterday when I was pouring gas from a big can to a smaller one. I shouldn’t have been leaning the way I was - I’ve been taking acetaminophen since then. Not one of my smarter moments. I don’t think I did serious damage, but it’s still achy. I shall be more cautious.
On the plus side, we’ve gotten some rain, and so far it’s a nice shower and no ridiculous winds. On the other hand, Debby is still pretty far away and won’t be crossing Merrylande till tomorrow. Plus it looks like the eye will be passing over sari, who’s a good distance from me and in the area where the drought has been severe. We should get some outer bands.
Good sleep last night, so I’m feeling almost human today. We shall see what befalls us. Or not befall us. I think we’ve had plenty to deal with.
Happy Thursday!
