(Old) Motion To Vacat(ion)- An Off Work MMP

Oops wrong impression. I’m not much of a nature type either. For me, roughing it means walking all the way across the RV to adjust the thermostat. We just drove several miles down the beach to find an isolated spot to fish.

Not sure I like those two sentences together. :grimacing:

I tried to be a complete RDOS today, but had to run an errand (we were out of beer). Am back and contemplating starting the grill to avoid cooking inside (it’s 105F now).

Meatloaf was YUM!!

Depending on which site you believe, it may or not start raining before 11 tonight. I guess we’ll see. The next two days are supposed to be quite rainy.

We went to the Hyundai dealer to look at vehicles. The one FCD liked was almost $50K before taxes, tags, and registration. That ain’t gonna happen. To replace his with the same vehicle will still cost over $40K since we don’t have a trade. I don’t know what we’re going to do.

This sucketh.

The Spousal Unit is still having ‘tummy trouble’, so she’s been living on fruit-and-Ensure smoothies, plain white rice, and sourdough toast. She allows herself to eat ‘real food’ on Fridays. So I eat whatever. I had taco salads Monday and Tuesday. Today I got some catfish out of the freezer, and am thawing it. I’ll make Cajun catfish, and then make a fiet-o-fish sandwich on multi-grain bread with tartar sauce, American cheese, and lettuce.

As for FCM’s mention of meatloaf… I still have one in the freezer.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. It wasn’t so stinkin’ hot out this afternoon and it feels like it may rain. I hope so.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

OH NO!!! :scream:

We didn’t leave the yard, we just tortured our kittah. She is such a little thing and my fingers are so big that I can’t get the pills down her throat so I’ve resorted to putting a cc of distilled water in the syringe and squirting the pills down her throat. I really don’t want her to get hand shy, but I do want her to get well so it will continue to happen for the whole course of the meds.

On the good news side, our new oven and cook top are here. They are super purty and I can’t hardly wait for them to be installed.

I’m so happy that I will have an oven before the family get-together, I was actually thinking about renting a suite at the Best Western down the road so I could cook brownies or date bars with one of their ovens.

Yes I do know that they would have understood if we had just stopped at a deli and bought some potato salad, but I refuse to go empty handed to the first get-together I’ve been to since getting a home or our own instead of staying with family.

With the perp’s long history of violence and prison time, I am thinking 18 months is not long enough.
Like the judge said, were it not for her son, she’d have been killed.
He even rolled his eyes and backtalked the judge, who, took his glasses off a few times and told him he liked to be in control of others, he refused drug counseling; totally told him off.
We, the 4 friends with her, restrained ourselves from applauding.

On a different topic, I lifted the heavy dishwash liquid to pour some in my small container, and now I am in pain.
My low right groin started up this morn, spread at times towards my butt, now my right leg.
1000 of OTC pain med didn’t help.
Reclining on my right side helped.
I wish I had a muscle relaxer.
I have bothered my dr. Too much, I have seen her probably 5 times this year ( they see you same day if you call).

Good evening all. Swimming was swum and soccer was helped with, and Cheeburger and Chips are assimilating, so just finishing some applesauce for dessert and that should hold me until tomorrow. Put the garbage can out to the curb and also emptied the indoor collection of recyclables into the Big Blue Bin (pickup isn’t until next week). so internettin’ and readin’ will take care of the next 2-3 hours.

red, doesn’t look like rain is in our near future. Clouds are nice in keeping the sunburn down, however.

Indeed you do.

That is not an errand, it is a necessity!

FCM, on my Sunday dining-out schedule I’m due for Meatloaf at the Metro Diner this Sunday, but now you have me thinking about it… And are there any 1-2 year old cars on the lot you can look at? Have to be cheaper and still serve your needs.

JtC, glad the cooker has arrived, and good on ya for wanting to make a good impression on the family. Maybe add a little extra to those brownies for a real good party…

Coppertone, 18 months is time enough for her to establish a new life and maybe get some distance away from him. Sounds like a real horse’s ass. And hope you get control of the pain, it’s no fun to be hurting.

And that’s all he wrote for tonight; catch all y’all tomorrow.

So I went to The Mixx for a beer tasting from Booneshine. That was fun. Apparently it’s a good brewery to visit, because there were 4 couples there where the wife remebered going, but the husband did not. But now I’m safe at home with some chicken and egg noodles, a martini, and Spot.

“WHO ORDERED THE LARGE LONG PIG WITH EXTRA CHEESE?”

I just wonder was that “max sentence withing the guidelines” or “I owe his dad a favor”?

If you are in pain, there is no “bothered your doctor too much.” Call, and get relief.

He was to get 3 to 5 if he took it to trial. He pled guilty.
I am headed to bed. I will see how I feel in morning.
Another interview tomorrow.

Wait… What?

It was his sentencing.
The loser got pissy and the judge took him down a notch.
Because he can.

Happy Hump Day!

We finally got some rain, with thunderboomers. According to my phone, it is supposed to rain for the next two days. The yard is green again, my son will have to mow before vacation ends.
The temps have dropped into the 70s.

No park this morning. I overslept, but it was raining anyway.

Meatloaf sounds good.
I have been craving stuffed peppers. I bought some frozen ones, Stouffers I think, and they were awful.

Shoe, I thought I was the only one who keeps Chef Boyardee around for a quick meal. I like mini raviolis better than SpaghettiOs. I keep a couple cans of Dinty Moore Beef Stew, and some Vienna Sausages around too.
The stuff is not good, but sometimes I get a craving for it.

Nice work on the quilt, Hippie

What fun to be an extra BooFae
I’m glad Bruce Dickinson can still sing after having throat cancer.

I think most dogs have great fun on the beach, Yankers. I’m glad Lucy did.
I had a few who were afraid of the ocean, I think the noise was too much for them.

I thought I had finally blocked all the emails coming to my mother, but now a whole new batch have been coming. I don’t know why they aren’t going to the spam folder. It’s annoying as my inbox fills up so quickly and if I don’t keep on top of it I’ll soon have hundreds of emails.

I missed what was going on.

Jerk was sentenced.
I showed up especially as he had committed a crime against me 3 years ago.
I had warned her, but she said, “He’s changed!”.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/58f with a predicted high of 19c/66f, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a totally fucking dreich day outside. Enjoy!” It’s not that bad, it’s overcast but there’s a nice breeze so I’m happy.

JtC I’m glad Bella is taking her pills, even if it is a tough job getting them into her. As she starts to feel better, she might associate you and the pills with her recovery and she won’t be scared of either in future.

Looking at the strength of those beers, I’m not surprised!

Did she get to see the doctor about it? I remember you posting that she was going to, don’t think I saw anything further on that.

Yikes! Even if you don’t have a vehicle to trade, will you get a cash payment for his car being totalled?

That’s not an errand, that’s an emergency mission!

I had a very pleasant evening at the Great Western despite dire warnings about proposed rioting and whatnot. Someone posted on our local WhatsApp group that there was a rumour about planned EDL marches and protests in the town centre and a couple of other areas - I didn’t believe any of it because last time EDL tried to have a demonstration in town, about half a dozen toothless knuckledraggers showed up and were outnumbered by police.

Anyway, we went out, had a very entertaining time, and saw absolutely no signs of any trouble anywhere. Hopefully all this nonsense will be over now and we can get back to our usual game of baiting Nigel FartRage.

Nothing exciting in my day either, I’ve got a meeting this morning and then I’m having lunch with a friend, other than that I plan to drink tea and faff about.

JtC, I have to put a 1/4 of a pill down Annie’s throat every morning and it doesn’t seem to phase her after the 30 seconds or so of torture is over. Then again, she’s a teenager.

We are also looking for a 2nd car here now that funds have appeared. This task is less than fun.

Today I have a zoom interview with a company that is not related to the field of education but that I have been acquainted with throughout my over times in my life. Who knows?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and N.O.S. with a heat advisory. It’s Summer. Of course there is a heat advisory! I shall deal with various duties over to the church house this mornin’ and then we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. That’s enough for one day. RDOS inactivities shall comprise the rest of the day.

Coppertone hope you’re feelin’ better this mornin’. If you are still in pain, please get in touch with your doc.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe is me!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Until you look at the loan rates for used cars - the payments are close enough that it doesn’t make sense - in some cases, 3-4% higher rates. Plus around here, finding a low-mileage used vehicle is nigh on to impossible. We’ve looked many times.

When we were kids, my grandmother always had cans of ravioli on hand, just in case. It was a huge treat for us! Altho some years later, I got some for nostalgia’s sake, and it just wasn’t the same. Either the recipe changed or my palate was more refined. These days I find I prefer frozen or refrigerated ravioli or tortellini with my homemade sauce. Yes, I cook the ravioli - I don’t serve it cold. (note added for the resident smarty-pantses) :stuck_out_tongue:

We bought that car in November - less than a year ago. I’m pretty sure we’re still upside down on the loan, but we’ll see. Partly because someone bought the service contract… Until the adjuster gets back to us, we won’t know.

I’m hoping FCD will decide to replace what was lost with the same vehicle rather than the bigger one. I was thinking about our options last night and I have a proposal to suggest to him.

BTW, $50K is more than I spent on each of my first 2 houses back in the early 80s - times have changed…

I am confused about the difficulty several of you are having in finding jobs, or maybe not. All around this county, there are signs saying “We’re hiring!!!” But I’m guessing that’s for minimum wage crap jobs? I know my daughter was looking for 3 months before she landed where she is, out of the education world in a job that doesn’t follow her home every night, and one that has decent pay. So maybe I’m not confused. Ignore me.

Did I mention my tire with the slow leak? Turns out I had a nail that somehow got into the sidewall, so the tire had to be replaced. There’s another $180-something that wasn’t budgeted. Dammit. Plus I had to leave it since they won’t get the replacement tire till today. Hoping I get it back this morning because I have some errands to run. The crap sammich keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Not to mention the little twinge I got in my back yesterday when I was pouring gas from a big can to a smaller one. I shouldn’t have been leaning the way I was - I’ve been taking acetaminophen since then. Not one of my smarter moments. I don’t think I did serious damage, but it’s still achy. I shall be more cautious.

On the plus side, we’ve gotten some rain, and so far it’s a nice shower and no ridiculous winds. On the other hand, Debby is still pretty far away and won’t be crossing Merrylande till tomorrow. Plus it looks like the eye will be passing over sari, who’s a good distance from me and in the area where the drought has been severe. We should get some outer bands.

Good sleep last night, so I’m feeling almost human today. We shall see what befalls us. Or not befall us. I think we’ve had plenty to deal with.

Happy Thursday!

MusicMan came home with a new car yesterday for me to look at and it made no sense whatsoever. It was a cool car, but they wanted $10K down for a 3 year lease that was going to be $400/month. Um, NOPE. I realize I have challenges to getting financed right now, but that is completely ridiculous. I don’t think there are any car deals that are logical. He is taking it back this morning and tonight we’re going up to the dealer where I used to work because they are one of those places who don’t pay their people on commission. I hope we can find something remotely close to reasonable there.

In other news, the above is all subject to standby because my mom who never feels good is feeling worse this morning and told me she is close to having me take her to the ER. I said, ok let’s go and she said, no, let’s see how she feels after sitting up for awhile. In the meantime we’d just have to call an ambulance anyway or hope that my neighbor could give us a lift because :drumroll: we only have one car and it’s at work - no, actually, it’s at the dealership waiting for theirs to be returned to them - with MusicMan.

And, that’s the ER where I was at recently who has the stupid setup for a metal detector* which is also the place where they treated MusicMan horribly in the past and it is definitely a trigger for him. So, if he were here to take us, he’d need to drop us off and leave which I don’t mind at all. It’s just that the whole situation is dumb.

*It is apparently just for show. They let me through walking with my cane which made it go off. But then he just shrugged and said I was ok to go through without checking me with the handheld thingy. First of all, I could have made it through without my cane or I could have had a weapon hidden on me somewhere in addition to it. Also, the metal detector is only by the ER entrance. You can saunter in through the front door anytime that it is open carrying whatever you choose and no one will stop you.

I think I’m done ranting for now….

Solidarity with you, FCM.

We made the mistake of getting a lease once, many many years age. Never again. It makes no sense to me to pay all that money for something you won’t own unless you pay even more money. Plus we’d have to pay a fortune in excess mileage charges. Nope. Never again.
