I’ve heard a few booms already, before 6pm on a hot day. Tonight is not going to be fun.
The booms have started. Spot is unimpressed with the puny human ordnance.
The big booms here were last night, but the kids across the fence have set a few off already. We hit triple digits today, so, typical fourth of July.
They started here yesterday. Tonight’s going to be crazy.
Happy Thorsday!
So much for thinking I would get some sleep last night.
Somebody was setting off fireworks.
Thanks for the wishes Boo Fae and MetalMOuse
I was worried about the dogs, who kept running outside to see what was going on.
I didn’t need to worry; they were just being nosy.
We had a short thunderboomer earlier.
Now the fireworks are going off, and the dogs are outside to see what is going on. I’m glad they aren’t upset.
If I had on something other than a bathrobe, I’d walk out to see what’s going on.
I’m too tired to get dressed.
Same here. This is why I’m nocturnal for a few days. Neighbors aren’t going to allow sleeping at night anyway.
The booms started about an hour and a half ago and continue on. Nothing really that is both close and loud, hopefully they will subside by bedtime. Garbage has been compiled and taken to the curb, so that much has been accomplished.
Coppertone, best of luck.
And I think I’ll call it a day. Take care all.
I’m so happy your pups are good with noise. Your neighbors sound horrible and I hope your house doesn’t burn down this year. Mom lives in Boise and her neighborhood always sounds like a war zone. A few years ago, a roofer found a couple of spent bottle rockets on her 30 year old asphalt tiled roof while it was being replaced.
I refuse to shop on major holidays. Stores wouldn’t be open if nobody shopped or went to movies and stuff on holidays so the employees could be home with their families instead of selling me milk because I didn’t plan ahead.
It has been full dark for almost an hour and nobody has blown anything up. Fireworks were scheduled downtown, but it has been raining for most of the day so I expect they were cancelled.
The BBQ was good. While us womenfolk brought side dishes, the menfolks showed off their mad BBQ and smoking skillz. Eating and drinking happened and after a couple of hours, everyone started getting nappy, so leftovers were shared and we all went home for a snooze.
I was able to make a couple of stitching friends. One knits and one quilts but we were able to spend some time doing our thing while chatting about when and where to manage to get more time without needing to get up and do things.
I always admire how creative you are, I couldn’t have come up with something like that fer a million bucks!
They were all very nice, and seemed to like me even more after I started pouring Prickly Pear Margaritas. I haven’t found our blender yet so I used our Good Ice crusher and made enough for everyone to enjoy. I also made a jug of virgin ones which sat untouched. I’m going to have to ask TC friend to send more syrup, it went over very well.
Bastid. Do you still know where he is? I would be willing to go to his house and do a drive by silly string attack. Maybe I’d even let the air out of all the car tires I could get close to.
AT people? That’s an attack with a deadly weapon, the cops certainly should take it seriously!
I agree, that is seriously cool. I love the construction.
Can you save the instructions and then in a few years take everything apart just for the fun of putting it together?
I do that with super fun needlework patterns (except I don’t take the finished product apart, I go and spend money for more threads and fabric and beads because it was just so much fun the first time. I also re-read books after a cooling down period (usually several years) so I can enjoy them again.)
I learned that the main reason to “watch” something on TV while hobbying is because we need to shift our eyes from close work to looking away to avoid eye strain. Most folks don’t realize what they are doing but their brains do.
Steve, the Best Cat in The World was so happy to be an inside cat after all those years that he would sit on the floor and purr.
So we’ve managed to get more stuff moved and unpacked. The full bed we had been sleeping on has been taken apart and moved into my room. The sellers left some free standing shelves and a wardrobe in that room which hubs wants to use, so we pulled them away from the walls and swept and moped the floor.
Hubs ordered a some-assembly-required desk that is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, so he can build it in place.
I’ve got more kitchen unpacked but still haven’t found our blender. I’m not sure we really need to, we never used it for anything but making foo-foo drinks and we have a Good Ice crusher now.
I haven’t found our plates yet which is super annoying. We currently have two plates because I didn’t think to ask Hubs to be sure he brought plates and cutlery. I have found two boxes of random kitchen gadgets, our air fryer and our InstanPot, but plates are still missing.
I’ve had to take Nelson out before dark yesterday and today instead of right before bed. Poor baby is pretty much stuck like glue to me right now.
I did, quietly, later.
They couldn’t have cut me outta there faster.
I’m pretty sure walking in with, “Look, I’m sorry about last night … but I’m not in any better mood” PLUS being sent over to our sister franchise when they didn’t have what I was sent for and ALSO my 'hood is starting to sound like a goddamn war zone … maybe wasn’t the best start to my day.
Yeah. I need a hug.
I overhead S.M. call over before she sent me, and also overhead the other whazzarface manager call back … while I’m standing there feeling like the world’s most useless errand girl.
Eh, got to sit on my carcass and listen to my own damn music, so, not a complete waste of gas my time.
ETA: JFC are those actual live mortar rounds above my damn head?!?
Your idiot neighbors must be using the same vendor as my idiot neighbors, judging by decibel level, and it’s not even dark yet! This is going to be a rough night.
Allegedly, Sacramento’s clamping down on illegal fireworks. Suuuure, guys. Never saw any evidence that anyone got off their butts and did anything about the pyros in years past when you were trumpeting to the media how tough you were going to be.

People are generally pretty good at maintaining the 24:00 curfew/ceasefire. Generally.
A few small pops here, but nothing worrisome.
Not here. I can think of at least two years where they ran all damn night.
I had a tin of anchovies.
Goo is licking my plate.
I hope it’s not too much salt for her. She’s still fine with the increasing explosions. Abbey’s still hiding under the bed.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. At least the heat index is only 85.
Good luck!!

Annie has been drugged for about a month now since her last seizure. So, fortunately, she wasn’t phased by what was going on in our neighborhood. I’m up and getting ready to start working. Annie is currently on my lap. I’ve been researching the cyst and I’m going to religiously follow everything it says to do to make it feel better. I hope they’ll get me into PT soon.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 80 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 93 with rain showers predicted mid to late afternoon. We shall see. I shall take care of candle and other duties over to the church house this mornin’. We will also take the box full of skool supplies we bought to the church house as well. The church is collectin’ various skool supplies along with clear backpacks as local skool systems now require all backpacks to be clear. After that we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up and then go by the Food Kitty (it’s next to Eggs Up) for a few provisions we need. Then ‘twill be back to da cave for high sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’, the usual RDOS activities. No quality cee-mint pond time today, as we were out there for several hours yestiddy, so are takin’ it easy today.
Sticky_Buns I am pleased to report that hoardes of the great unwashed did not show up today. Hope you can get sump’n done about the cyst soonest.
Coppertone appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the interviews. Hope they go well.
JtC glad the gatherin’ went well. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Glad you made some stitchin’ friends. Hope you find your plates soonest.
I hope everyone’s fur babies survived all the kabooms last night. Looks like some of 'em couldn’t be bothered which is good, I suppose.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I do suffer for my public!
Happy Firday Y’all!
How do you cross inappropriate appendages?
Never mind
