I’d like to post a pic of Ziva, but she’s hiding under the bed, as usual. Maybe I can catch her tonight when she takes her evening mosey. We’ll see.
Nurse is here.

Bbboo, so cute!!!
Amen to that! Drives me batty.
Hi Ralphie!
I see you, too, Ursala!
And FCM, you just reminded me that I have FOUR pie crusts waiting to be used. We will have at least one pumpkin pie, but due to an error of miscommunication, we have extra crusts! Not sure yet what I’m going to do with them.
I’m sitting waiting for my mom to be ready to go to the doctor. Then there’s a few little odds and ends errands to do as well. I’m still waiting for the art store at the mall to tell me that my price tags are ready so that I can take my stuff there. I may go ahead and throw it in the car in case I get that email while I’m already out.
I have a really good recipe for a Peach Streusel Pie if you’re interested. I thought it was among the Mumper’s Recipes, but it’s not. Also a buttermilk pie that delicious but teeth-curling sweet.
Dang, now I want to make the peach streusel pie - like I’ve got nothing better to do. Dammit.
FCM, she didn’t go to the bathroom for 36 hours?!
Nope. Nor did she eat or drink.
I’m on my ‘work Mac’, and was able to connect to VPN and to reach my office PC via Microsoft Desktop Connect. Good news: I can irk. Weird news: The desktop icon for Word has disappeared and I don’t know how to get it back. But I’m expecting a call from IT today to help me sort out the new StinkPad. I can’t connect it to my home network, it’s also missing the Word icon, and Easytrieve isn’t working on it.
I’m going to have hard-boiled eggs for breakfast.
Well, it’s that week again, so THANK YOU! Don’t give me that “for what”, it doesn’t matter. You deserve it! You’re the teeming unthanked millions.
Hey, it’s a cloudy 51 degrees here in Elk I took a break from Spelling Bee to come in here and say hello. My PC says 55 degrees, but I haven’t yet convinced the device that we don’t live in Anderson anymore. Ah, machines! I’m not going to wrestle with the danged thing over such a trivial matter as geography.
Mrs. L.A. got a text with a receipt from Applebee’s. We don’t go to Applebee’s. She clicked on the attachment and her phone asked her if she wanted to install something. She either clicked No, or she shut it down. I hope she didn’t infect her phone.
On the advice of my allergy doc several years ago, I put out a resume to get him a new job. I have pix of him in here somewhere, but Damfino where.
Sadie on her perch, looking right at home.
With Thanksgiving barreling toward us, I have to get the turkey breast out of the freezer, get it thawed and roasted, and the wife has to get her cranberry sauce ready to go.
Talked with my daughter last evening about her ongoing tax disaster. She got another letter from the IRS, which means her case has not been addressed by Optima yet. She tried to call them, but had no luck with getting her supposed agent on the phone. Why she didn’t go with a local tax lawyer is beyond me. I’ve advised her to call the IRS directly and explain what is going on. She is otherwise facing some really onerous actions on their part, from freezing her bank account to garnisheeing her wages. She’s really in a bad spot, and for once I can’t really help her out.
So there were a whole bunch of bulk orders from various businesses that needed data entry. Looks like everybody is stocking up on their Chinese goods before January 20th. Between that, the 0300 earlier start, and a bunch of clean up made some hours today.
Spot, taking a between chaoses nap.
Awwwwww.
Cool, but I’m not showing it to Spot. I don’t want to inflate his feelings of godhood.
Hi Ralphie!
We have no cats at the moment (sob), so here’s J-cat enjoying his Christmas treat a few years ago.
Count us among those making purchases now to avoid potential tariffs or opportunistic price-jacking. Replaced a basic CD player and a garage freezer, but mercifully the Cuisinart is still chugging away. New tires for my car and a brake appointment in a few weeks. I wish we could replace the ailing dishwasher and inadequate washer, but we can’t afford that right now.
We did our morning walk and stopped by our favorite fabric store. She is in the finishing stage of a quilt and needed some more fabric for the border. We drove out to the shopping mall. We stopped for tacos and then she had a new screen protector put on her phone. As for me…
I got two new happy face ear studs.
Walked down the street. Quick interview. I told her I worked at another store in a different location and I have open availability.
They had told me back in March no other store would hire me but maybe a miracle will happen. No more bus money so appendages crossed.
very happy with all the wonderful cat pictures. so fun.
That one was Felix (RB), the first cat DH and I had after our marriage in 1995. We lost him to old age in 2011, with Allie (one of our current cats) joining us shortly after. The bird in that photo is Ava (RB), who showed up injured on our doorstep one cold night in 2002 and did not leave until age claimed her in 2019.
I’m like that about cats, too. “You are a kitty, therefore I love you” is something I’ve said quite a few times to a range of cats, from my own household members to cats I’m just meeting and trying to make friends with.
QFT. This is one of many reasons I don’t bother with recipe videos. I do not need to listen to someone in love with their own voice rambling on and on for at least several minutes before they condescend to provide the actual content I was seeking.
@LSLGuy, Ralphie obviously needs to have the cute little pink nose booped.
ALL the kitties need cuddles and treats.
My own day’s pretty free-form. Got a blood pressure check in a couple of hours, planning some grocery shopping (hoping to stay away from stores altogether from Wednesday to at least Sunday).
Leaf-suckage is done till next time. The tube was packed full of leaves for some reason, but once I cleared them, it was all good. Well, except for the part where I forgot to activate the mower blades, but once I figured that out, all went well.
We have an appointment on Dec 14 to get the gutters cleaned, and after that, we’ll do one last pass thru the yards. Plus between now and then, we’ll either rake or use the blower to get leaves out of the garden beds in on to the grass so they can be mulched and sucked up. But that’s an adventure for another day.
I’ve put rub on a hunk of poke loin that will go in the rotisserie for supper. Not sure what else I’ll make - maybe rice and some green beans? I’ll figure it out. I seriously doubt that MIL will eat. She’s a mess today.
She totally forgot that the nurse and Jessica both came today. She told her sister that FCD hasn’t talked to her lately, and she thought my tablet was making some kind of noise while she was on the phone. (For the record, I keep the sound on the tablet off - the music on the games that I play is annoying at best, stabby at worst, so silence is the setting.) She barely ate 3 bites of toast, tho she did drink some water and some juice. And the weight loss continues - barely over 90# today. I’m wondering what I’ll do if she dies Weds or Thurs. I’ve got the grandspawn on Weds morning. I guess we’ll deal with whatever happens.
For now, I’ve got some time to chill before the poke must be rotissed.
Heh. My family calls me “cat slut” because I am like that. Happily, my son inherited the cat gene from me (his dad is apparently not a carrier) and also loves every cat he sees.
