OK, on to my post…
A bit of a creepy wake-up - I thought I heard MIL calling me. But I looked in her room and she was asleep. However, after that I couldn’t fall back to sleep, and it was after 6 anyway, so I just got up.
I forgot to dump pellets in the stove last night and I heard the furnace kick on several times. That has been remedied - I scraped crud out of the burner tray and re-pelleted the hopper, and it’s burning away behind me. This part of the house got down to 69° overnight - it’s usually around 72°. It’ll be warm again soon. Meanwhile it’s 35° outside which means I won’t be doing any leaf-suckage for a bit - not till it hits at least the low 50s. It has to be done, but it doesn’t have to be done stoopit early! Just gotta finish before the rain moves in, which isn’t forecast till around this time tomorrow, so I’ll be set.
Speaking of MIL, she hasn’t gotten out of bed since around 8PM on Saturday. We’ll see what the nurse says when she comes today…
Daughter asked me to mind her spawn on Wednesday. They’re off school and both she and SIL have to work. I can entertain them by letting them help me prep a few things for Thursday’s dinner. Plus they’ve got a basement full of toys and a TV where they can run amok, so there’s that.
And speaking of Thursday, I think I’ll pass on the sweet potato casserole - I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who likes it. Instead, I’ll just bake them for myself for various suppers. Or slice and cook them in the air fryer. Whateves. I’ll review my menu - I may drop some other stuff. No sense in overdoing it just because it’s Thanksgiving.
And speaking of menus and food and cooking stuff, why must every recipe you find on line have to start with a long, convoluted story about the origin of that dish or whatever? No need to share how GreatGreatGrandma invented this in her covered wagon while crossing the plains. (I don’t know for sure - I don’t read them.) Thank goodness for the “Jump to Recipe” button.
I think tomorrow, I’ll make one last dash to the grocery store. The kids will want strawberries - especially Tobias - and I’ve got in the back of my mind that I need something else. I’m sure it’ll come to me after I’ve been to the store and returned home. Because my brain betrays me regularly.
Till then, well, on with it.
Happy Moanday!!
