Good morning all. Have had the morning apple and will shorty follow that with First Breakfast, then we’ll see what the day brings. I’m supposed to have my first practice with my 9-year old soccer team this afternoon, but there is a 40% chance of tunder-boomers so it is a we’ll see proposition. Swimming will also be accomplished and maybe some early grocery shopping (need my weekend banana fix). Otherwise just another hot (getting to 96F) day in N. Ali-bama.
boo fae, thanks again for the definition, having been reminded twice it may stick for…minutes… As for Colonials, I’m half Irish so I come by my rebellious nature naturally and my Mom’s German family came over after the 1848 uprisings, so I guess I do fit the description…
FCM, JtC, never tried pot, I refused to smoke cigarettes because my mom did her whole life and I grew to hate the smell of them and when I was a youth getting the weed was pretty much only by smoking (and brownies, I guess). To late to start any new bad habits now, just have to manage with the bad ones I already have. Moooommm, enjoy what sounds like an impromptu family reunion.
Nut, congrats on the living quarters and the new niece.
OK, off to get the pancakes and bacon ready for consumption. Have a good Firday now.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash and fixing to do KP / houseirk. After, I’ll errand. Such excitement!
Heaving went OK for a change. Spot is running around like a madman. He has either eaten a coffee bean, or The Invisible Mole People have breached the perimeter. But I have a load of clothes in the washer.
Howdy Y’all! Been a day of high RDOS inactivities, as promised. We had quality cee-mint pond time, followed by shower, sammich, and nappage. Then we day drank. We scarfed down leftovers and threw out a couple of questionable things. All in all not a bad day. Netflix and chill with popcorn soon.
Well, the rain that looked like would happen this morning didn’t happen. When I took Nelson out first thing, it was windy and overcast and I thought for sure that I wouldn’t have to water the herbs tonight.
House is cleaneded, laundry done, groceries bought, bills paid and I’ll sit down to prep the monthly greeting cards to send tomorrow. Not much ese shakin’ here at CasaRoja.
Home at last!! OMG the traffic, both going and coming home! But the kids had fun till Tobias pooped in the pool and everyone had to get out. Luckily it was after 3 by that time, so I, at least, was ready to leave.
I have to figure out tomorrow - what time we pick up the kids and all that. But for now, I need to sit in the quiet for a while.
Well dang. Do they do tours? I love watching things being made.
Thanks, I really felt kinda silly while it was happening. Thank goodness I only stomped my feet in my head. Its not like we wouldn’t have any dinner without it and we do have a Food Lion a couple of miles down the road but that was just the last straw. I’m all over it now. I think.
Which is another reason I don’t have one, LOL!!!
Thanks for the good wishes, her blood work says she still has a UTI and more antibiotics were sent home with her. It is an hour drive to the vet, so we do need to find another one closer to home. Now that we are self paying, we don’t need to take her that far again.
I still think she’s in heat again. She got better for a week and now she’s being a slut again. Poor GG is starting to get annoyed again.
We got a very nice twenty minute rain but that was all. I hoped that the wind would blow more in, but no joy. the forest is looking very stressed and hubs is talking about watering the lawn.
I thought I should start working on getting my med prescriptions refilled and Food Lion has a drive through window for their pharmacy. There is a Walgreens across the road, but I like to support the little guys. The FL pharmacy doesn’t take Humana, so off to Walgreens I went. After we discussed everything, the person helping me said it would be a couple of hours because they would need to call the AZ pharmacy. After I left, I realized that she hadn’t taken my phone number, so I’ll probably go back tomorrow.
The family get-together is on Sunday and while I’ve checked our woefully inadequate pantry, I’m sure I’ll find that I need something when I fire up the oven. No meltdowns will happen, I’ve already gotten that over with.
Not a factory tour (they’re an old school foundry), but they do have a museum and company store. They are a prime contributor to South Pittsburg’s Cornbread Festival. I’ve bought several items from their store.
Turnip greens. Greens, a hunk-o-pig and a pan to cook them in for long enough to marry the flavors. Or, given the season, find a roadside produce stand and get some snap beans. Cook them (with some small potatoes is a plus), drain and add some bacon, along with some of the grease. Now, I’m hungry.
Wheee, doggie! Anniversary Dinner has been dined. We started with escargots with puff pastry and Hollandaise, then had Caesar salads with shaved parmesan. The Spousal Unit had Schnitzel Champignon, and I had Wiener Schnitzel. (Unfortunately, pork; you can’t find veal up here.) I asked the server if they made their Caesar salad dressing in-house, and she said yes. I asked her if they used anchovies. She said yes. I asked her if they had any anchovy filets lying about. She said yes. So I asked her for some to put on top of my Schnitzel. I had to scrape off the cranberry compote, but I still got anchovies on top like I had in Germany. Sides were sweet red cabbage, zucchini, and fried potatoes. Mrs. L.A. ordered a ‘Man-mosa’, and then found out she couldn’t drink it because it was bubbly. I had a ‘Vesper’, but the menu didn’t mention vodka; so it was just gin and Lillet Blanc. Still good, though.
We each have a cutlet leftover, and there are the sides. I’m thinking the potatoes might be good for breakfast, with over-easy eggs on top. (With bacon, of course.)
Evening all. Got my swimming done early, managed to do 1,900 yards in 61 minutes, then took a break and did another 750 yards to get my mile and a half done. Then the Parks Department ticked me off, we had a rain and thunder shower about 3pm but by 4pm it was long gone and the fields showed as open, so I could practice, right? Turned out no I couldn’t, they have some new device that warns of possible lightning strikes and it would not clear us to use the field, although it was obviously safe (I DO NOT mess around with lightning, but there was zero chance here). So after 30 minutes of ditzing around with the kids, I sent them home and returned grumpy. Big Bowl of Salad improved my mood a bit, and I signed up to referee 3 Under-10 soccer games tomorrow (my teams don’t start until next Saturday, so heading 10-12 miles up the road to ref at some other places). So fairly early to bed, games start at 9am.
JtC, you ever decide to go to that factory in Tennessee let me know, I’m only 90 minutes from there and it’s only 30 minutes down the road to Scottsboro and the Unclaimed Baggage Superstore…https://www.unclaimedbaggage.com/
Don’t have migranes, I used to get the occasional (like once a year) headaches that were so bad I literally had to throw up to get rid of them. Haven’t had one in decades, so guess I am doing something right.
FCM, poop and run is always a good plan…
Flyboy, I figure after than feast she has forgiven you your lapse in memory.
Alright, need to get heading for bed, chasing 9 year olds for 3 hours in 90F heat is not as much fun as it will be 2 months from now, but the kids will appreciate it. Take care now.
