(Old) On this day in history in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! We are currently havin’ a deluge and are under a tstorm watch until the wee hours of Moanday. Storms can come up in these parts just like that. Not complainin’ cause good sleep weather!

In other news, got a text from the guy who gets all the stuff (N.O.T.s, sallit, and frozen bizkits (don’t judge!) for men’s night. The text was to check that we would be there for setup (of course) and he texted, “all the studs are in the kitchen” with a follow up text of “stuff, not studs!” Of course, I could not let that little Freudian slip go by and texted back, “all the studs will be in the kitchen tomorrow night.” It will also, of course, get shared with everybody else tomorrow. YP may start to wander just what he has gotten himself into!

MG glad you’re over the plague.

Sensei yikes! Hope you get sprung from the horsepistol soonest. Also, great news re senson and his sport.

JtC glad y’all had a great time at the family reunion. Who knows, maybe the cousin will drink the mead and sing its praises at the next gatherin’.

ETA: Lucky I did reread The Great Gatsby in my adultery. IMO it was still not all that.

FCM May I recommend some Edward Abbey? The Fool’s Progress My absolute favorite book ever. I occasionally will open it and read some out loud to myself, the prose is almost poetry. But I’m a little weird. Or perhaps The Monkey Wrench Gang.

Early to bed for me. Still tired all the time. See y’all in the next MMP,

Be Fruit fly, and multiple - God
A sudden explosion of the little buggers today. I’ll have to stop at Ace tomorrow after heaving. Watching Preseason handegg, and having poke loin, potato with cheddar and country ham, and a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Yay!

Boo. Get better quick!

< Justin Wilson intensifies >

No, just fruit.

I’m glad you’re glad.

Happy Sunday!

No park today as it was supposed to rain so I turned off the alarms. No rain at all.
Tomorrow, they go to daycare, so they’ll not be bored.

I’m sure Trevor loves visiting with you FCM.

My son had to read To Kill a Mockingbird in HS. He really liked it.
We had to read East of Eden, Catcher in the Rye, Tale of Two Cities, Animal Farm, 1984, Don Quixote, The Outsiders, and thankfully, only one chapter of Dante’s Inferno.
I thought CITR sucked, and TO is for teenagers. D’sI is for headaches.
I know I read Summer of 42, but I don’t remember if it was required.
My favorite author was Agatha Christie, but Shirley Jackson ran a close second.
I doubt you’d like Jackson’s books though.

Thanks for posting the pics Ooopsie. It actually looks better in real life than it does in the pic.
I got it from da jungle, where it was $40.
I don’t know what one I’ll get for him next.
He likes to do
Crystal 3D
but they fall apart too easily.
I’ll need to get a display case soon.

Bailey looks adorable.

Shoe, sometimes the fix is something stupid or simple, so no need to get a professional in right away. I forget what all he tried.
He had an audience though. The donkeys across the street cantered up to the fence and watched my son the whole time he was working on the mower. They are so cute.

I hope your son recovers quickly, Taters

Head doctor came by and said it’s possibly a urinary infection from the catheter they had in place for the surgery and they will adjust the meds. He had no idea how long they intend to hold me hostage.

Antibody levels are higher than expected for this kind of surgery and they didn’t even give me an award for over performance. Cheapskates.

Failed the Covid test ( not positive) so at least it’s not that.

Oh, getting hospitalized in a foreign country is a wonderful opportunity for learning new vocabulary. I’d rather not be in a situation where I need to know them, but thems the breaks.

I had anticipated an easy stay so I brought along a few easy reading books but the fever has me feeling apathetic.

Anyone wondering how hospital food is in Japan, just as bland as the Stated.

Nurses are nice. Some gush over my speaking ability. Wife convinced me to get a private room and I’m happy for the quiet.

Years ago when my folks took their first trip to Europe they took a traveler’s German class. They already knew a little German but wanted to bone up. And since my dad had had a heart attack they wrote up a vocab list for things like heart, pain, chest, back ache and so on, as well as packing a list of the names of his meds. They knew a lot of professional medical people would have some English but didn’t want to rely on it totally.

If I may be permitted a gentle correction to a common error, we are Bernese Mountain Dogs, proudly Swiss, not Asian, originally raised for both beauty and hardworking strength in the majestic Bernese Alps just outside the Swiss capital of the same name, in the canton of Bern.

Thank you. We are beautiful and we know it. Also gentle, good-natured, and highly intelligent. The stories I could tell of all the times I outwitted my so-called “master” and his house guests! :dog:

Someone on the Dope recommended reading Moby Dick as if your friend Ishmael wrote a blog about crazy guys he hung out with, whales, knots, and his weird boss. I did, and found it quite delightful.

Maybe she was thinking of Bernese Pythons, the ones that have the little red cross pattern in their scales.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Here be the new MMP!
