(Old) On this day in history in the MMP

Mornin’ all.

It’s 63F and partly cloudy, along with some low-hanging fog and 98% humidity. It’s expected to be cloudy to partly cloudy all day, with a high temperature of 79F.

Yesterday was a day! It turns out that my son’s stomach problem was a hot appendix. He is in surgery right now, and I’ll be leaving soon to go down there. We spent a good several hours at urgent care, then ER, and finally the CDU. My poor boy was in a lot of pain, but they finally got it under control.

The ride home was filled with colossal lightning strikes, torrential rain, and strong winds.

Buster just got done throwing up, but I told my husband to keep an eye on him and take him to the vet if things don’t improve. He threw up at 2:30 this morning too. I have to get down to the hospital in Lacey/Olympia to pick my son up and take him home.

Oh, and tomorrow is my first day back at work, but I’ll be working from my son’s apartment to make sure he’s okay.

Alrighty, I need to hit the road. Take care.

All good thought for your son! Stay attentive to the crazy drivers around JBLM!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I am cleaning and attempting to make my bed around a small tuxedo-ed chaos storm.

I’ve driven 40 from Nashville to Wilmington, and 95 from the tip of Florida to NYC.

DON’T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND!”- Dad

Hmmm. that sounds like a good brunch for today. :pizza:

He gives me attitude about it. Actually he gives me a lot of attitude for a being with no huevos and that can be picked up one handed.

But if he kidnapped Ulmo and Tulkas, would that be considered stolen Valar?

One time mine locked itself in the bathroom and started banging its head against the toilet.

Glad they caught it.

Yeah, character names can be a tad over the top. On one series, one family’s surname was Trewlove. Cute, huh?

MIL wanted to get up at 7 because she hated that she slept the day away. We didn’t wake her and she got up at 9:45. She had toast and chocolate, then proceeded to fall back to sleep. It’s 12:30 - she’s still asleep. She won’t accept that she sleeps because her body needs sleep.

Speaking of Costco - my order was delivered, but I’m being constantly deluged with emails about all their good deals. I’ve tried 3 times to unsubscribe. I’m about to put them on my blocked list. Stoopit Costco - yet another reason to hates them!

If I was imprisoned by beings that removed my huevos and hauled me around one-handed, I’d probably have a bit of a 'tude as well.

{ cue Monkey zoomies, including eyeballing the curtain he used to climb when I first got him as a wee skinny 'teen }

Dammit. Now I gotta be all sympathetic, and I gave him the last can of Friskies in the house last night and have no more bribery available.

I had the same WTF?

Those are beautiful!

… and very different from my childhood recollection of Lego, which was “here’s a bunch of rectangles in different colors, go nutz.”

I would not have been able to resist giving scritches. Probably would’ve woken the hounds of hell sleeping cutie, but dang, those ears!

It will seek out, find, and eat anything that looks like a string. All electrical cords are fair game; woe be unto shoelaces.

But yeah, kinda like the trope of having to clean/pick up before the maid arrives, I found robot vacs actually make YOU do a lot of advance cleanup, before that blessed moment when you sit back, relax, and watch your robot do the cleani-- OH SHIT NOT THERE I FORGOT THAT CABLE FUCKITY ACK!

SWMBO said, ‘Let’s not go [to church] today. Let’s stay home and have a lazy day.’

Thank God!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, OYKW came back to da cave, and I stayed for the big meetin’. It lasted about twenty minutes, so not too bad. I expect to here some grumblin’ about change from a few folk, but they will get over it and used to it in time. It’s really all more about gettin’ back to the usual order of things that we got a bit slack on whilst Priestless. I texted OYKW when I was leavin’ and he went to Cook Out and got us burgers and fries for N.O.L. that was followed by nappage, and day drinkin’. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. OK, beer is always chillin’ in the beerator. Plus, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. 'Tis way hawt out so glad to be inside in the a/c. Netflix, chill, and popcorn soon.

shoe look at it this way, future shoe will love the extra ka*ching. Smart move on the plannin’ ahead for foodstuffs for the week.

MOOOOOOM woe on the cookies! Five second cookies get eaten here, but we have no critters. I bet you are now Trevor’s BFF. Watchin’ the decline of MIL sucks, especially, I’m sure, for FCD. Happy undies shoppin’. If you have not read it, I highly recommend To Kill A Mockingbird. One of my all time favorites. The sequel, Go Set A Watchman was OK, but kind of a let down for me.

BooFae glad you had a good time at the castle concert.

Oopsie the pic of Bailey on her bed is just too kee-yooote!

Taters YIKES! Glad son got taken care of. I am sure he’ll be glad to have mommy around for a bit.

And she most certainly is!

I hope that he recuperates quickly and well.

Sunday chores are done, Sunday dinner is being et and Nelson’s been walked, so sloth is the order for the rest of the day.

I seem to have recovered from Covid, so that’s good.

The Spousal Unit is heating up her last Schnitzel. I think I’ll have a cube steak sandwich for dinner… but not for an hour or two.

I hope everyone is doing well. Excuse my absence for such a long time.

My son and I were in Europe for a world championship in his sport. He did OK.

I’m in the hospital for what was supposed to be a routine procedure, but I’ve got a fever that won’t go down, and they don’t want to discharge me until they get a better handle on what’s up.

Repair for my inguinal hernia should have been straight forward but the stupid fever is making things miserable.

Because of the Covid restrictions, which are still around, only family members who are high school and older can come out only for 15 minutes a day. So, my daughter and wife can come but not my son.

FCM, congratulations on your daughter’ dragon boat race.

I don’t know if I’ve shared this but I was on a dragon boat team in Taiwan. It’s a big deal there and the day of the races is one of the three biggest holidays of the year.

The province I lived in had a big race every year and there were many dedicated dragon ball teams which were many years old.

We worked out on the water three mornings a week, and worked out in the gym twice a week. Our goal was to finish in the top three, and they did that shortly after I moved to Japan.

I was in lots better shape while I was doing that.

J.D. Robb
Janet Evanovich
And there’s a third fav that I can’t remember ATM.

I used to listen to audio books when I was working in the warehouse and wanted stories I didn’t have to pay attention to.

Sounds like a great night, here’s hoping the cats forgave you.

Did you name paint yellow flowers on it and name it Buttercup?

You were right! Thanks for sharing.

It was a day indeed. I hope his recovery is fast and easy.

Yeah? The store is smaller than the Kroger or the Walgreens and I thought they were just internet unicorns until we got here cause I’d never seen one before.

A bear after my own heart

That is very good. Now keep up with your jabs and hopefully you won’t get it again. I have heard it is pretty ick.

Oh dear. I hope you feel better soon. Everyone recovers faster at home. Thanks for checking in!

If you’d like a change of pace that’s really a hoot, I recommend Deborah Adams’ Jesus Creek mysteries. They are a scream. Your MIL may even enjoy them on audio.

I hope that you are feeling better soonest sensai!

Don’t feel bad. Excluding ethnic markets, FL is the smallest supermarket in my town too.

Too late to edit I’m sure. Mom’s purse called me so of course I called her back and we chatted for a couple minutes. I’m hearing “remind me about that again?” more and more often. This time she forgot GG. She stayed with us for a few months when her was a little shit and has gotten regular updates and pics since. Sigh.

Today was the family reunion and much gabbing happened while food was being eaten. @wolfpup One of our kin breeds and shows Burmese Mountain Dogs Her last Westminster Champion went to the Bridge a couple of months ago but she brought one of her adult pups and another adult from a different couple.

They were show dogs through and through. They knew they were fabulous and that we were only there to adore them. Their fur glowed with health and they strutted and pranced. After everyone had a chance to adore them, they were told to lay right in front of their owner so she could be sure that nobody snuck them any people food. Some people are so untrusting, LOL!!!

The kids were cute, one family brought their guitars and regaled us with churchy sounding music. Once couple owns a coffee shop in Charleston and brought a couple of those big pump coffee dispensers and someone brought a big jug of lemonaid.

We brought date and walnut bars and three bottles of mead. We brought home half of the date bars and two bottles of mead. No mead was drank or even tasted, the bottle went home with his favorite cousin who probably did it to make him fell better. I’m sure it will never get opened.

We got a little rain both ways (three hour drive from one side of the state to the other is still blink worthy) and got home three minutes before kitty dinner time. Of course Hubs tossed me under the bus by loudly telling them that we would have been home on time if only I hadn’t made him stop so I could pee. They paid him all the attention he was due.

So, all in all it was a good day and I enjoyed watching Hubs smile and laugh with people he’s loved all of his life.

I’m glad we are here.

Was going to type good afternoon but looked at the clock and it’s 6:30pm already, so good evening all. Olive Garden was good as always, managed to show great restraint and only had two breadsticks with my meal, then came home for a bit and then a couple hours of gym time to balance out the pasta. Will have a little more to eat this evening and see what the scale says tomorrow.

Got more soccer information, the schedules are out and I need to get them to my parents, games start next Saturday so we are well and truly underway with the Fall season. U9 boys will practice tomorrow, then the U10’s on Tuesday. So far it looks like a dry week, so hopefully will get a lot of work in with the boys.

FCM, while pedaling the bike in the gym, I’ve been reading a lot of my old science fiction short story collections from the 50’s-80’s, many still hang together well, but a lot of them have people smoking cigarettes, which really does date the story. Maybe my favorite is an old one called “Allamagoosa” by Eric Frank Russell, and…well, it’s online so if you’d like to read it (it’s short)… - Chapter 3

Coppertone, presume you took your umbrella.

boo fae, you have the bestest weekends…

Sticky Buns, so you get your carpets vacuumed and add some aerobic exercise to the mix…sounds like a plan. And Bailey just looks so…slothful…I must try to emulate him more. And great pillow sentiment.

Taters, Wow! Glad they caught son’s appendix before it burst.

I think my longest 1-day Interstate drive was St. Louis to Denver, about 800 miles and 2.5 states. Have also completed the Pennsylvania and Ohio Turnpikes (but not together).

Food Lion isn’t found around me, nearest is in Tennessee. Kroger, Publix, and Wal-Mart have pretty much cornered the market, so to speak…

MG, Good News!!

Sensei, good to see you around the place again. Glad son got to expand his horizons and complete at the highest level, hope you get out of the hospital soon.

JtC, I love Burmese Mountain Dogs, they are beautiful canines. Glad you had a good day, even if the mead wasn’t a hit.

OK, nearing 7pm so need to take on a little more sustenance before the night sets in. Take care and I’ll catch all y’all on the next MMP.

I changed my mind. Cajun catfish tonight.

It was a downpour last night. We had a flash flood warning.
Downstairs looks dirty from shoe prints and hopefully maintainence cleans it tomorrow…no rain predicted for the upcoming week.
I go in tomorrow to fill out paperwork for job, never been a server before but at this point I would clean toilets.
Church was awesome as always.
Tomorrow is a new MMP.
Time flies.

You have a treat coming. I wish I had TKAM to read for the first time all over again. In my opinion, it’s one of the top five American novels ever written.

A few years ago, I checked The Gutenberg Project, and discovered I had never read Moby Dick. I thought I had, but it turns out I had only seen the Gregory Peck movie. So I sat down and read it and I thought it was awesome. Had I tried to read it as a teenager, I would have hated it. I did read The Great Gatsby in high school and hated that. I wonder if I tried it again I’d change my opinion?

Since I have a buttload of homemade jam on my hands, I made a big batch of thumbprint cookies filled with apricot jam yesterday. The recipe made 18 cookies, and there are three left. What can I say, it’s a great recipe!

As an adult, I read Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby. Time to catch up on others I missed.

From across the room: “Which is the best car - Mercedes or, aaah, what’s the other one? Never mind.” I have no idea what that was about. She falls asleep listening to the audio books and I can’t always tell when she’s talking in her sleep.

We didn’t go for underwear today, for whatever reason.

I’ve been in mega-sloth mode today. So much for accomplishing anything.
