(Old) Pet pics in the MMP

Thank you. As it turned out, I only had 4 by the end of the month. The other three are right after the first of next month. However, since I’ve already scheduled them, I’m back to having 7. Oops.

I will. But then maybe someone can tell me why she was FURIOUS with me because I paid half the cost of getting the new screen door installed and ramp painted. I mean FURIOUS. She then proceeded to write me a check for what I paid and strongly suggested that I cash it.

Speaking of the ramp. This guy will not let anyone out to take a picture of it yet because it still needs to dry a bit.

That’s great! Ok, not all great, but mostly great.

Well, MusicMan is off to work and I’m having breakfast the first while Annie sulks because I’m not going to share. In about an hour I’ll take out the work computer and start on IEP stuff and try to figure out the cryptic email that I got last night from a parent.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 62 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 84 and sun. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and I will suck it up and go to
:astonished_face:Wally*World  to get what we need from there. Nappage will be needed after all that. The Wednesday night doin’s resume over to the church house this evenin’, so that takes care of sup.

BooFae yay for Muffin progress! Maybe one day she won’t decide to have a chomp when you pet her. Or maybe not, cause she is a cat.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

When I opened my work computer, I found that a parent had called me at 11:16 p.m. :face_with_spiral_eyes: If I was going to do that, I would have at least left a message…

What is wrong with some people?? It’s like the ones you read about on Not Always Right who are amazed that clerks have homes and families and they don’t live in the store. It’s mind-boggling!

BBBoo - I must tell you I have serious kitteh-envy! Such a regal-looking feline! Many years ago, we communicated with a Siamese rescue group but gave up on them. I can understand that they want to place the cats in good homes, but this group barely stopped short of asking for our personal medical records. We ended up going to an Abyssinian rescue where all they needed was a personal visit to their facility and the name and number of our vet.

Speaking of vets, I was delighted to find out that our favorite practice hired 4 more vets and they’re no longer going towards just farm animal clients. We’d been told they were phasing out pets, but not any more, so YAY!!

Weather guessers say it’ll be mostly overcast and in the 60s. I was thinking about pulling some more weeds, and it sounds like good weather for that. But this time, I’ll pop the ibuprofen first. Anyway, that’s today’s big plan.

Yesterday, dog talk returned to bassets and I told FCD flat out that I do not like them. In fact, I’m not a fan of long, low-to-the-ground dogs, corgis being at the top of the bottom list. Last search he was doing was for greyhound rescue. My sister had a couple and they were really neat dogs. One was terrified of men - I hate to think what he was rescued from. I’ve voiced all my concerns and objections and for now, it’s wait and see.

Last night, I finished the 5th lap robe and started the 6th. I’m not really thrilled with the colors I bought and I’ve contemplated getting some others, but I never intended to make dozens of blankets, so I’m wavering. Meanwhile, I’ll do the best I can with what I have. It keeps my fingers busy while we re-re-rewatch Shetland.

Not much else on the agenda. We shall see how the day progresses.

Happy Wednesday!

Sorry everyone. I’m just swamped and can’t keep up with things.

SenWife and I had a really serious discussion this week.

We had to decide on the direction on the house project. I want to do some of the work myself, but that adds time to the project, of course.

One of the reasons for the house is that she and SenBoy can’t practice music in our apartment. If the project goes on too long, then she will miss out on practicing.

The house is torn apart now and it’s going to take a long time, but I figured out that I can renovate the back room in the garage quicker. It’s small, and shouldn’t take that long.

Apology rejected. We’re here whenever you need us, but your stuff is your priority!

dreary day in philly. got really chilly last night, going to have to break out some sweaters.

two condo meetings last night. one regarding our shuttle, one the green committee. lager was not amused.

i won 8 dollars in the big powerball thing. over a million people joined me in that big win.

wow! way to go muffin! that is big progress, that is.

To set the scene, our bedroom floor is covered with sculptured carpet, except in shades of gray, so not as hideous as the link. When I was getting dressed this morning, I noticed within the texture and colors on the floor there appeared a small likeness of a certain president who shall not be named. And just that quickly, it was a carpet again. How creepy is that??

It’s raining - guess that means no weeding, at least for a while. I’ll take the opportunity to clean the kitchen floor, especially since someone knocked a nearly full cup of diet coke across the counter and over the floor in front of the dishwasher. A towel can only clean up so much… I‘m also going to launder a bunch of towels/rags that have been accumulating on the boat and in the basement and in the shop. Hot water and bleach should do it.

The excitement never ends in FairyChatLand!!

Happy Wednesday!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After, I shall shevel and mess around with the washer until Sis gets here.

We’re going to go thrifting, then to the grocery store. After, if I haven’t gotten the washer figured out, she’ll help me with that.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Rags are in the washer on a heavy-duty cycle. The kitchen floor has been rollsucked and mopped. Nothing to do till it dries - time for some RDOS non-activities.

Good morning.

It’s 58°F and mostly cloudy at the moment. The afternoon is projected to be partly to mostly sunny with an expected high of 76°F.

Hugs to Bailey and Oopsie. The messes are never a good thing to deal with, but we do it with love in our hearts because we know our sweet pups couldn’t help it.

J-Bats, poor pup! I’m sure she was just mortified on top of being stressed. It’s good she had someone like you to help her out.

FCM, I hope that whatever breed you both settle on brings both of you some joy and peace. Yep, they are such work, but those quiet cuddle moments are awesome.

BooFae, yay for Muffin progress!

I spent yesterday looking at new desks for the den downstairs. I have two old behemoths in there now that are just a pain in the but when it comes to accessing wires and cords. I want a mid-century modern writing desk style with a set of shelves between the desks, where we can store the router/modem, and speakers. However, the problem is space. The two desks we have now are the typical 59-inch desks, and as it now stands, both fill up the wall space with mere inches left to open the door to the den and between the desks. I have a closet behind one of the desks and an upright piano behind the other desk. There wouldn’t be enough space for a desk where the piano resides because the French doors open up there, too. It’s a conundrum, and I can’t convince the husband to move out of the den because there is only Wi-Fi upstairs, which becomes problematic for his VR games at times. I should mention that the current desks are hutch-style, and I’m trying to get away from all the mess, mainly because of the cords. First world problem…

I loved all the additional pet pics, by the way.

Alrighty, time to get on with the day. I’m not sure what that entails, yet. I do need to get cracking on finding a gift for my husband’s birthday. He turns 62 on the 16th. My grandson’s birthday is the last week of the month, so I need to get cracking on his gifts, too. So, maybe I’ll do some gift shopping, and then I’ll do something else.

Take care, everyone.

Good morning all. Slept in until nearly 7am (with a 3am pit stop) so feel pretty good. Temperature is still about 72F so windows are open and it’s nice inside, but heading to 86F later. Soccer is to be coached and kitchen needs cleaning, so those will be my major goals for the day.

lily, hope lovely wife got back safe and sound.

boo fae, hang in there. Been going to bed about 11pm but since I don’t have duties as you do I can stay in bed as long as I want (or as long as my bladder cooperates..). And good news about Muffin, even with the biting instinct still present.

Sticky Buns, only thing I could think of seeing your picture is “You Shall Not Pass.” And Parents be weird, even your own…

FCM, greyhounds can be great dogs but might need some socialization. And some space to run, of course. But I tend to agree, bassets are nice but strong-willed and almost impossible to move once they plop down somewhere. And I occasionally have moments of pareidolia too, usually at the tiles in my bathroom when I am performing, umm, ahh, functions there…

Sensei, y’all just work on draining that swamp (not our swampy) and let us kow how it’s going now and then.

rocky, you did better at the Powerball than I did. Glad someone won it and got the B-as-in-Billion prize off the news so I’m not tempted to make a Tennessee border dash.

red, sounds as if having sister close at hand is working out well for the both of you.

Taters, good luck on the gift shopping.

And that’s all for the report. Have a good Hump day all.

We have 2 fenced acres, so I don’t think that’s a problem. But at the moment, it’s just in the consideration phase.

I put in 2 queries about replacing our kitchen cabinets without destroying the granite counters. The first callback was from a company where they obviously didn’t read what I wrote. However, they’re having their granite guy call me to let me know if what I want is possible.

And I just remembered the company we used to install the counters - I should give them a call, too. I hate that we have to have it done - 20 years ago, we installed it all ourselves. Not this time, tho. Nope.

Boat work is delayed again. They were using the travelift to take a 50-some foot trawler out of the water, and one of the wheels of the lift ended up in a hole as it rolled off the two rails. No damage to the boat or anyone around, but until they get a repair done, we’re in standby. Our boat is to be moved into a slip next to the travelift, but they’ll need access to do whatever they have to do. Always something.

Time to check on the load of rags…

It’s a good thing I left the office a little early yesterday: not only was there an accident on I-495 that resulted in my commute taking an extra ~25 min, but when I got home I discovered a doggy superfund site almost identical to the one I’d found after work on Monday. Sigh. Another 1-hour cleanup job, and another trip to the shower for Bailey (and to the washing machine for her dog bed covers). While I was finishing up I got a text from my ex that he was on the way – early  – but by the time he arrived everything was good. His visit lasted just over an hour, and went well. He hadn’t seen Bailey in at least 10 years: her entirely grey face was more of a shock to him than her weight. Heh. I did feel the need to make sure he wasn’t mad about me deciding that it’s time, but he agreed that not eating + her other health issues + being 17 years old is pretty compelling. We’re both glad he was able to see her one last time; I’ll let him know when she’s gone.

I want to try to head off a third consecutive +60-minute cleanup, so I’m going to leave work early again today: this time, at 2pm (or as soon as my 1pm training ends). I have to stop on the way home for gas and groceries, but then will get back online and keep working remotely for a while. I’ll work from home all day tomorrow, and I’ll play Friday by ear: the appointment to talk to the vet about letting Bailey go is first thing that morning.

:joy:

I find that their stuff runs a little on the small side, but most of the stores have decent plus-size sections (if needed); and, the store brands (Sonoma, Apt. 9, TekGear) are pretty affordable.

It is!

(And now I remember this from last year!!)

Facilities would never come over for something like “I’ve been a little sniffly for a week.” It has to more clearly not be my issue. If the effect persists, though, I’ll put in a ticket.

My lovely wife had two delayed flights, but the airtime was decreased so she landed only 15 minutes off schedule. She’s still asleep (usually the light would have her up by now). We’re both happy she’s home.

I like rescue greyhounds. They’re like big, awkward cats that are just glad to be alive and asleep in your living room. Low fur shedding. They need big beds because they’re gangly and not well-padded. You feed them a mix of kibble, green beans, and olive oil because they have a short digestive tract. Not a big deal; we would buy a few flats at CostCo. Very sweet dogs, so long as you get one that hasn’t been too traumatized. They like a good run, but don’t run far, and ours were contented with their walks most of the time.

I scanned too quickly and misread this as an oh-so-casual “I won 8 million dollars in the Powerball”

I forget the word for it, but there’s a known quirk in humans, that our brains & visual systems will try to organize random images into patterns.

That’s the word!!

They’re doing massive pipe replacement work on my street, and there’s currently a hole in my front yard significantly deeper thanI am tall!! :open_mouth: The whole house occasionally rumble-shakes, and I swear it feels like that scene in “Jurassic Park” with the water cup trembling.

The noise is incredible.

They’re gonna shut my water off in a bit, so Monkey is safely stowed in the bathroom, after I rather hurriedly, uh, made use of the water still being on so I could flush.

Then there’s paradoilia where everywhere you look you see doilies.

Survived my minor surgery. Have about 1-1/2" square gauze thingy above my right eyebrow. Oughta start aching around dinnertime then be fine by sunrise.

I was on 100 Middle green again. However, Dispatch decided to shuffle half the package cars around for…reasons. Management didn’t have the placards for the packages cars until 15 minutes into the loading, and it was 45min before they had the load charts. The drivers were suprised.
Me, starting damages:
< picks up 6" long box with missing end flap >
< looks at label on other end > : 72" vertical blinds
:grimacing: (it was the obligatory Home Depot damage for the day)
Also one of the damages was a half box of THC infused lemonade. Add some gin and sparkling water and you could make a Chong Collins.
< waves at shoe and JtC >

Well, Spot still bites me so…

No apologies needed.

FCD spending too much time with Ziva?

So you’re gonna spend the afternoon watching some dudes laying pipe? :face_savoring_food:

Lemme guess, the other half “disappeared.”

Pretty much, yup! Hell, a couple of them are in my basement at the moment …

Then there’s paradoilia where everywhere you look you see doilies.

Okay, that was pretty good.

Afternoon Mumpers! Hugs, trouts etc as required. Been reading a little, but this is the first week off I’ve had in ages- not had enough spare brainpower to post lately.

I’m being a bit grumpy today, as I was expecting a parcel - actually connected to this MMP, cos I don’t currently have any pets, but I’ve decided to bite the bullet and acquire some pet ratties, which will then bite everything else. The parcel is the nice big cage I’d ordered, as I decided my week off would be a good time to get this sorted.

I did just rant about it in the mini-rants, because what sort of a delivery company gives a 10 hour window for delivery, but I’ve been sitting in allllll day waiting, but the update is that they’ve now cancelled it for today and it will now be at some mystery time tomorrow. I am more than a little peeved. They don’t have any option to collect from the depot- which is only 30 minutes away- I checked. They won’t deliver to anyone else except the immediate neighbours, which probably isn’t an option. They claim it must be delivered to a person, and there is no way to get it other than sit around and wait.

I mean I’m sure I can find things to do in the house (which is still a renovation project), in fact I have a biiiig list, but I wanted to go out for the day…

On the plus side, I just picked up a nice armchair really cheap from some lovely people (who have been waiting all day for me to be free), and I got it into the house just before the torrential rain started. At least I have something comfy to sit on while I sulk.
