(Old) Pet pics in the MMP

That’s more than we won… and I bought one set of numbers for three drawings.

I have just a few minutes before I have to leave to rescue Ms. Dog. Evil workers are fixing something in the crawlspace, and Ms. Dog is confused and panicked because their voices are coming through the floors and vents. She must have seen Poltergeist. I had projects planned for today, but they’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Duty (and probably doody) calls.

Oopsie, I’ll get the birthday crowd warmed up before you take the stage. That was so good of you to let your ex come to say goodbye to sweet Bailey. I hope your day doesn’t involve another massive cleanup.

Taters, good luck on the hunt for birthday presents!

Mine, too! I accrued quite a few this past week, what with Project Pompeii and all.

Get out. Get out of the house now.

Forgot to say, Boo, that that’s the most beautiful Siamese kitty I’ve ever seen. Wowsers.

Maybe they drunk-dialed you. “Yeah. Wanna pizza. You got any, uh–What’s that slicey stuff called? Prepperonly. Yeah, well gimme some that, an’ what are you wearing?” Oh, sorry, that’s shoe’s nightmare.

Swampy, hope you conquered Wally World.

Coppertone, congrats on the job. I hope this one is long-term. You must be sick and tired of applying and interviewing.

flyboy, nice skellies!

Glad you mentioned applesauce. I was thinking about getting something after my blue cheese and crackers, and I had forgotten I have applesauce in the fridge.

@Misnomer Scritches for Bailey. Hope today’s better.

Yay? Definitely a mixed bag, but it does seem to be progress.

My grandma’s house had avocado green sculptured carpet, just a bit darker than the picture. Don’t see that kind of carpet very often.

Okay, I’ve read everything, but I’m trying to stick with that settling down early, and going to bed thing, so hugs, high-fives and waves, as appropriate.

Took 2 bus’s to onboarding. Done! She even let me pick my hours.
On the 2nd bus home, I stood and twistwd around a pole to get to the lower level of bus and my legs gave way.
Guy lifted me up. I walked down the street home.
Got horribly worried it was a stroke so went to urgent care.
They said no way to tell without scans. I am on bus home now.
Bp was 135/80.

I hope the message offends the Right people.

I actually figured it out before she got here, so I ran a trial cycle with nothing in it. Now, I have done a load of towels and they’re in the dryer. Sis and I have planned for several years to get into trouble in retirement.

Well, my towels are drying on the shower rod, door knobs, etc. I started the dryer and it made the cabinet sway to the point that I didn’t trust it. It wasn’t violent swaying, but I texted BIL and he’ll be over on one of his days off for a design adjustment and possibly a reconfiguration. At least they’re washed.

Now to play in the studio.

A quick drive by on the pet theme: Unaliving Wonderdog

My ‘right-click’ on my Trackpad isn’t working. I think it’s a ‘haptic’ thing, rather than a physical thing. I tried restarting, but that didn’t work. I guess I’ll have to get my MacBook into the shop, and use an external mouse until I can do that. (I have my 13-inch MacBook that is my ‘work computer’. I can use that while the 15-inch is being fixed.)

Howdy Y’all! My day started off not good. We made a plan that OYKW would go to the Pubic Sto’ for provisions and I would go to  Wally*World . I got in my vehicle and it wouldn’t crank. So we got me jumped off and I went there to get a new battery figurin’ I would be there for a while. Got all set up in the automotive department and went into the main part of the store to get stuff. I was almost through gatherin’ all the stuff when I got a text that the battery had been installed. I hightailed it back with a buggy half full of stuff and was able to pay for it all along with the battery. All totatled I was in and out with a new battery in half an hour. Spent way more than I intended but what you gonna do, right?

In other news the vestry elected me to be one of the church’s delegates to diocesan convention in November. I get to spend two days and nights in Statesboro, Jawja. Envy me! I had offered my name for nomination so this is no surprise.

Wednesday night doin’s was good. We had lasagna, sallit, rolls and a choice of strawberry or turtle cheesecake. YUM!

Nuts :: tacklehug :: good to hear from ya!

red all I can say is Wonder Dog must have deserved it.

I’ll bet that poor woman is going to be exhausted. It’s so good that she has you to come home to.

I used to volunteer with a rescue group and was the youngest one in the group. That means I did most of the puppy picking up. As you know that meant I got peed on a lot. I had puppy shoes that I only wore to rescue because they weren’t worthy of wearing anywhere else.

I’ll bet that’s because it feels so slimy. I get squicked out then too.

Huge progress, Go Miffen!

Jolene bites. She doesn’t bite me because I don’t allow it and my hands are not toys. Hubs uses his hands as toys and gets bit constantly. GG gets bit all the time as well but often doesn’t notice. At least Hubs is starting to dump her when she bites, but she won’t change her ways until everyone is onboard.

You shall not pass!

I once had a neighbor who’s husband took the back stairs down because he wanted to replace them. He told her what he was doing and that he was deadbolting the door so nobody would forget and fall out the door. He wanted to put a piece of duct tape over the locks, but she thought he was just being silly and didn’t allow it.

A while later, she made lunch and unlocked the back door and stepped out to call him. That was back in the day of those horrible plaster casts, she did suffer that summer.

Late night emails often involve mood altering substances. I do hope you don’t have one of those sort of parents.

While I do agree with your NO Basset Hound stance, I adore Corgis. I’ve never once met a mean or snappy one.

I used to live close to someone who had some rescue greyhounds. They were super sweet couch potatoes, but weren’t very smart. They are on the large size though, I do hope you get a dog you can easily pick up and put in the car if needed.

While I love our fuzzy jerkface, I kinda regret getting such a big cat. He needs a big carrier and his thinking brain cat just to go to the vet. That’s 50 lbs right there and we aren’t getting any younger.

It sounds like your serious discussion was about important things, I hope their garage studio works out quickly for everyone.

Can you get a Wi-Fi extender? At our last place, we had a thingy in our living room that extended the interwebs to the back porch so I could play games out there. Not VR, though, just games like Diablo or Second Life. That sort of game is also a bandwidth hog, so it might work for you.

It warmed up here as well, it was almost 80F and it started to warm up inside. The temp is down to 64F now and is forecast to be in the high 40s tonight.

I’m starting to worry about bringing my plants in for the winter. I’ve got the lemon tree and the Boston fern sorted, the catnip is a problem. I’m thinking about getting a used fish tank, putting my plant pots in and then covering the bottom few inches with buckshot. I should also order some plastic canvas so I can do decorative brick covers because I know I’ll need at least two holding the lid down.

GG does lurve his fresh catnip.

You inspire me to always remember sunscreen on my hands. Nothing else is ever exposed to the sun because I’m too much of a weenie to get pieces cut off on a regular basis.

This is such a great time to be a pothead

Welcome back, I was wondering how you were doing. Hurray for a nice chair, they always make sulking more comfy.

I would be all confused as well. You are a very good dog sitter to rescue her from the evil hidden peoples.

Which sounds like a great way to destress!

You have a very fierce lil doggy, I could see the rat killing instincts firing

Whooo, Dude. I’m clutching my pearls just imagining the debauchery happening in that big town.

Dang about the battery, hurray about getting out of there fast.

So this was another day of verifying my RDOS card. Some stitching happened, some playing silly arcade games happened. GG got brushed several times, he’s turned into quite the demanding diva.

I have seen two hummingbirds today. I’m going to take one of the feeders down tomorrow, but I’ve been told to leave one up for a while longer.

Harry is going to help me start a Dead Hedge against our back fence. It will give him a place to put his forest trash and I’ll get to enjoy watching the birds nesting in it.

Hubs has to get a new back tire on his Harley so will be leaving around 8 in the morning. The shop is an hour away and I briefly considered following in my car and taking him out for breakfast while the shop has his bike, but that’s earlier than I like to get up so he’s on his own.

You may need to put the two of them on wheels when you need to take them somewhere.

Welcome back nut!

I’m thinking that with his breed mix (chi, yorkie, rat terrier and corgi) he would have made a great little farm dog back in the day. Kill the vermin and round up the goats.

I’ve just put several people in another thread on Ignore. It’s that, or take a few months off.

This is why I think that cats weren’t “domesticated” because they killed the rats in the grain. Cats are stealth hunters, one cat won’t kill enough rats to make a difference. They kill more when they are well fed, if they aren’t fed, they hunt all over, not just where you want them.

Plus, we have only had one cat in our lives that actually knew how to kill and eat things. When rodents/sniks/birds broke into the catios, the cats would bring them inside and let them go and most of them were rescued strays or feral kittens (1st generation).

People had rat terriers to clean out the grain barns long before cats moved in.

:people_hugging:

Its always jarring to learn that someone you respected isn’t the person you thought they were. Please just hang out here, we all love you.

I must have summoned you - really. I was thinking about you the other day. I promise I’ll just use my power for good. Oh, yeah, and welcome back!!

My sister had 2 in succession. Max was uber-chill, Otto a bit less so, but neither one was what one would call active. She brought Otto here once, and he ran around the yard twice, then came in and flopped on the floor.

As for an easy-to-lift dog, unless FCD has a major change of heart, that won’t happen. He wants a big dog. But he also wants a dog that will go on the boat with us. I’m not sure a greyhound will be a sailor. Still, he’s also researching other breeds.

The rescues around here are chock full of pittie mixes. Unfortunately, homeowners insurance folk have decided that anything even remotely resembling a pit bull can be reason to nullify the pet-bite section of a policy. And frankly, I’d be leery of such a rescue - it’s one thing if you have one from birth, it’s another not knowing if the dog belonged to some pseudo-macho butthead.

Anyway, the conversation continues.

We’ll be going to the marina first thing tomorrow, then we may ride north to Chesapeake Beach just because, and maybe even have lunch there. We’re supposed to have some sun tomorrow and I think there’s a little boardwalk there. We need a little outing.

But now, I need sleepy-bye time.

I napped. I had a martini and chicken with egg noodles and cheese sauce. Otherwise an utterly mundane evening.

Maggie Wonderbeagle was a former serial killer. Stuffies got de-eyed, then lobotomized, then eviscerated.

If you have to give a speech, remember to end your speech with Carthago delenda est.

Welcome back, Nut!

That’s the problem. the county shelter is all pitties or “no cats” dogs. :frowning:

And a good evening all. Some gym time, some soccer coaching time, a little more gym time, some grilled ham-n-cheese time, a short trash to the curb time, and some internettin’ time pretty well sums up the balance of my day. Probably be near or just past 10pm when I finish this, so a late-night final it will be. Temperature is down to 69F heading to 61F so the AC is off and the windows are open.

Moving into scroll mode in 3…2…1…

FCM, my suggestion is next time, buy a canoe…

Oopsie, glad the ex- could pay his respects to Bailey and I expect you’ll have 1-2 more cleaning days in your near future.

lily, glad to hear your beloved is home.

shoe, glad to be of assistance. I knew it started with par- and ended with -lia so I let the word finder figure the rest of it out. Hope the work doesn’t inconvenience you (or Monkey) seriously.

Pilot, you need to come up with a good story for the bandage, ala John McClain..

Nut, nice to see you around the MMP. And rant away, I think all of us at one time or another have done the ‘sit around for hours awiating delivery’ tango, but at least you have a comfy chair…

Dicey, I buy these little applesauce snack pods (6 to a package) and about 50 calories each, so eating two at a time tastes good and doesn’t overdo my calorie count.

Coppertone, hopefully you just got twisted around wrong, I have a knee that gives me a short burst of pain if I move it in certain way, but otherwise there is hardly a twinge. Take care of yourself.

So you aim to misbehave…

red, nice little video there. Nelson looks good.

swampy, shopping and a new battery; Give the Mart of Wal credit, you can multi-task there like nobody’s business… And congrats on your election and incipient travel to the big city…

JtC, the Dead Hedge fence sounds like a good idea, both for you to enjoy and to keep Harry busy.

And it’s 10:15pm local and time for me to sign off and do the pre-sleepage things prior to departure to Slumberland. Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

Or you and G.G. can do like every other being and, yanno, hunker down for winter and wait will spring.

It’s just several weeks, and he can make do with fresh-dried in the meantime.

You … have been hanging some upside down to dry for him for the winter months, riiiiiight?

I’m convinced any domestication with cats only happened because they puurrrrrrr.

Plenty of other critters are, as you pointed out, far better at keeping down the vermin population in grain holdings.

But cats have a “stroll in - this is my home now” attitude, and goddamn that purr is spellbinding to many of us nekkid monkeys.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I got distracted by Spot and smacked my right foot into the bathroom door, so this will be a fun day.

As long as they have brown coats.

Sounds like a Druid punk band

It’s more “who domesticated who”

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/60f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s not that fucking cold outside. It would be a lot colder if we were on a fucking whale-watching trip.” Maybe, but also possibly much more exciting too.

I’m glad that he didn’t cause problems, and I hope Bailey was happy to see him too.

My friends have a pair of rescue greyhounds (they also volunteer for a local rescue, and do some additional dog-walking), they are the softest and daftest dogs, absolutely adorable.

Welcome back! It’s always good to have a comfy sulk, hopefully with a nice cup of tea and some cake.

Definitely a “yay!” for Muffin, it’s the first time she’s come anywhere near close to me when we’ve been in the same room so that was a good start. We’re back to normal today though, she was in the bookcase first thing, then came out for food and allowed a bit of fuss. I’ll win her over in the end, even if it kills me.

Conga-rats on the nomination, but how will OYKW cope for two nights without you? He barely managed one night this time round!

Yesterday involved a somewhat frustrating journey home but I got there in the end. Went to the pub with my usual friends, plus an extra couple (brother and SIL, not mine). It is the last time I’ll see them for a long time as they’re emigrating to Cyprus on Monday and will be living with brother’s stepdad until they work out residency and get a place of their own.

As expected, it was a late night so by the time I’d got home and given the cats their bedtime treats, it was close to midnight before I got to bed. The alarm was most unwelcome at 6am, but I made it to work in fairly good time due to some delayed trains and a bus that appeared mysteriously at a time it wasn’t scheduled.

It’s our Board of Examiners meetings today so I have morning and afternoon stuff to do. I wrote most of the minutes yesterday as I had produced all the reports and things are pretty straightforward for my two depts. Into the fray!

Early early mornin’ all! Wow I was tired yesterday. Tuesday night I went to go see The Doobie Brothers in concert at the Summerfest Amphitheatre! It was super well-done, and Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band was even there to play before them! It was all super spectacular, and for my first real concert was a treat to behold (yes, I hadn’t been to a real concert before this point, I wasn’t particularily interested before haha). Michael McDonald was there as well, and I’m such a fangirl for him and his voice, so overall it was an amazing night.

Unfortunately, the following day I had work at 7am, so I didn’t get much sleep and was super tired. Luckily the shift went about as good as it could have, and when I got home I was gifted some Popeye’s lunch. I fell asleep at around 6:30pm last night and woke up around 4:30am.
