(Old) PJD strikes again in the MMP

Evening all. Helped out for several hours with the 8 and 9 year olds this afternoon (we had 28 for the first session and 24 for the second) and everyone behaved (including the parents) so was a good day. Came home and watched some tackleball and had a couple sammiches to contribute to my caloric imbalance for the day, and am now ensconced at my computer with the room heater at level 2 (of 3) and nothing much to do except browse the internet. Temperature is 41F and there is a good chance of rain after 9-10pm, so we’ll see what next week will bring.

And ready for a 21-scroll salute…

Lilly, I have heard of quince but I don’t think I’ve ever eaten it. Hope it works good for your palate.

red, glad you and Nelson had time together. Keep getting better.

Nettie, so glad the felines are getting along so well.

I don’t fix meatloaf at home (not much of a cook and too much stuff I wouldn’t use otherwise) but do enjoy it at Logan’s Roadhouse and Metro Diner when they come up on my Sunday dinner list. Mom used to use some combination of pork and beef and who knows what else, all I know is that it was great–but Mom’s cooking usually is…

And that’s all for now, we’ll see if I can get back for the late night final.

Glad to hear things are improving. Keep getting better!

I’ve eaten quince and thought it was kinda bland. I’ve also eaten Turkish delight and thought it was not something I would put in my mouth again. I have the cilantro tastes like soap gene, so you can’t really go by my food recommendations.

My mom used to put three whole hard boiled eggs in the meat loaf, lined up in the middle. She never told me how it worked, probably because I was out in the garage with dad when she was making it. One day she asked 12 year old me to make dinner and that there was meat thawed in the fridge. Then she went off to her class or meeting.

My scalloped potatoes were amazing, the crust was perfect. That was a good thing because I just washed fresh eggs and put them in the meat loaf because I assumed that the oven was magic and the shells would just go away or something.

So tomorrow we will be going to Huntington for a VA visit for hubs. It is supposed to snow and he thinks I should stay home in case we get stuck somewhere. Sigh. It won’t snow that hard. If it does, the highways and freeways will be clear. If they aren’t, we will just get a motel somewhere and call our cat sitter. I’ll pack an overnight bag just in case but that’s mostly for practice.

Harry was just over to tell us that a bear was seen down by the river tonight and to put our trash can in the shed. He also asked if I would make cookies to donate to his church’s first annual free xmas dinner. James has been hinting about cookies too, so I will be baking on Wednesday.

While I was trying to recreate my original chocolate crinkle cookies, I tossed some chocolate chips into the last batch and they were pretty good. Now that I have my beloved OG recipe back thanks to Dicey, I’m going to see how they are with chocolate chips as well.

I’m so happy I met those guys, I enjoy baking and I love getting compliments on my baking so its good to have willing participants because Hubs always complains about the carbs.

Mrs. L.A. had her leftover tamale, beans, and rice for sinner. There was ⅓ pound of ground beef in the fridge. I got it from the BIBIR bin, and it’s been in the meat locker for several days. I figured I’d better eat it. I mixed it up with minced (fresh) onion, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

Positive developments with Findus, which I’ll post in The Kitty Report.

As promised a couple hours ago, I have browsed the internet (well, not quite all of it…) and am ready to watch a little more tackleball and head off to bed.

JtC, your being practical, but be careful anyway. And one of these days I’ll head your way just to sample those cookies…

And that’s all he wrote…catch all y’all tomorrow on the next MMP.
