(Old) Rainy Days and Mondays in the MMP

Ugh, I am cold ridden. Tested negative for Covid, but clearing out the shop and resulting dust is not helping the nose. I’ve sold most everything, but anyone need a half inch 4x8 of polycarbonate? Gotta say, emptying a shop you’ve had for 10 years sucks.

I can attest to this. I lack enough counter space to properly roll out anything, so on the occasions that I make quiche or pie, pre-rolls (heh!) are what I use.

Makers of very comfy quality office chairs.

And eaters of very much pizza!

Ah, that’s the part that had me curious.

You left out an important bit: WHO WON?!?

Just kidding; I don’t actually care.
But it’s nice that you got a trip back to Ye Olde Country … I mean, Cleveland.

So turns out all I had to do to get my “safe” hamper (can be carried one-handed down steep stairs while holding the rail w/the other) emptied & available again, was to dump it into another half-empty hamper sort many pairs of socks.
(Okay, it was both.)

Therefore, I’d like to breathlessly report that not only did I recently start my current laundry, I rode that “sorting socks” momentum and put away a whole entire other hamper. (Okay, it was mostly a blanket and 2 bath towels. Didn’t take that long.)

But still! Progress has been made, and I have several pairs of clean socks and warm, clean pajama pants work-appropriate trousers ready to go.

Please, please everyone, hold your applause, especially since now you can really see where I haven’t swept the floor in a hot minute.

Whatever, it’s a start, especially considering my physical state 24 hrs ago.

Time to decide if I wanna scramble some eggs, or nuke my last TV dinner (turkey with stuffing, and if the good people at Stouffers ever discontinue that one there will be much wailing & gnashing of teeth).
Oooh, or a cup of insta-beans! I don’t like taking those to work b.c they’re so much better at home doctored up with kielbasa (ha, take THAT “vegan” label!) and green onion, and maybe some sour cream.

Decisions, decisions … ooh, a half-killed joint! That’ll help get me hungry enough to decide.

Finally, I caught Monkey mid-yawn a bit ago. That’s my thigh (in gray, my knee is right by his head) and my beloved papazzan chair (in blue) he was wedged right in between and seemed quite comfy, although he looks far more demonic than his - usually - sweet personality.

You can kinda see some of his many extra toe-beans:

You sound like you’re doing better and that makes me happy.
Cleveland won. They played the Wisconsin Herd.
Had they ( the Herd) not missed the shots they did, they would’ve won.
I almost started rooting for them.

My favorite things in thread were christening gowns. I mostly made them for gifts, although I did sell one. I also did tablecloths and doilies and tablerunners. Now I am mostly doing granny square afghans, as I have tons of partial skeins in different colors. I have directions for Christmas stockings done with granny squares, and I do those in team colors. Purple and white, red and yellow, red and blue, or whatever someone wants.

One of the women in my needlework group is involved with a prison needlework group, and I saw pictures of work by one woman who is incarcerated. Her talent is extraordinary, but I don’t know what happens to her work because she can sell it or exchange it for any benefits. Perhaps she could give them away but I’m told it still has to remain anonymous. So sad.

Green lentils it is (with kielbasa, garlic, chicken broth, and a bit of chili crisp) plus to start, a coupla frozen pierogi quick-fried with the obligatory bacon and onion.
Mustn’t be too healthy…

First real, solid meal I’ve had (and kept down) in a coupla days, so I’m sure there will be a high-quality fartfest to follow.

The trumpeting of the dawn!

Speaking of solid meals, we got stuck with two whole pounds of French fries the other night. The manager (not S.M. another one, but she also knows about the ratties & takes great delight in saving paper towel tubes for them) was about to toss them, made eye contact with me, was like, “Well… ?” and all I could think was, “They’re not gonna know what hit them!”

Her response: “Feeding your snakes potato-stuffed rats now that’s gourmet!”

They’re getting them right now, and y’all, if you think feeder critters live a bad life, you ask these mofos right now how unhappy they are.

I even dumped them in, paper bag, carboard “boat” and all, so they’d have something to shred all night.

Sounds like a rodent version of Mardis Gras in there.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 67 and partly N.O.S. Not much doin’ today. The Food Kitteh has Poopsie products on sale so we shall venture out for that. RDOS inactivities will take up the rest of the day. shoe has inspired sup as y’all can read below.

Coppertone glad you had a good time at the game. I’m not big on bball, but if it involved stuffin’ my face I would have a good time as well.

shoe go you for gettin’ stuff done! Also for givin’ the ratties a good time. I like how you un-veganed the beans. You inspired me to take some kielbasa outta da freezer. I wasn’t sure what to do food wise today. Now I envision kielbasa, scrambled aigs, cheesey grits and whomp bizkits (don’t judge!) for sup.

MetalMouse have fun herdin’ younguns today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The things I will do for cheap Poopsie!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Up for bio-break, four hours later, right on cue. It is so very pleasant to wake up non-blurfy.

You are welcome, my friend!

Thanks.
Next up: clearing out the fridge. That stew was delishush but what’s left of it is gonna start waving back at me soon.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/42f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Shove those fucking clouds up your ass.” Err…no, thank you, I don’t think I will.

Yesterday evening the Travel Gods decided that for the second day in a row, my connecting train from Big City Station would be cancelled. I caught a later one and then a different bus towards home as I needed to call into the vets to pick up some medication for Shadow. I had ordered his thyroid meds so that I’d got enough to last over the hexmas break but they would only let me have them if I absolutely guaranteed that I would bring him in for his blood test on the 23rd. Naturally, I said yes - he’s having his thyroid check, his arthritis shot, and a mani-pedi so I can’t possibly miss that.

Today I was up early for feline tums and bums, then went to the gym for an hour on the elliptical trainer (which told me I burned 620 cals). I didn’t book any classes and didn’t do any weight exercises because my neck and shoulder is hurting and I don’t want to aggravate that.

Then I drove home, stopped off long enough to put some clean clothes on, and went to get my hair cut. Now I’m slurping a lovely cup of tea and contemplating lunch before I go off to the pet store to do a couple of hours with the fundraisers for Little Paws. Apparently the store manager’s wife has made lots of yummy cakes for us to sell so it should be a good day for us.

My turn for dinner tonight so it will be chilli because that’s quick and easy. I’ll probably be at the pet store again tomorrow too - we have to be there for a minimum number of hours during the six weeks of their Santa Paws promotion so that we qualify for a bunch of money from them in January.

Off to get forage for lunch next!

Sure, if it’s 300 yards swimming, 1 mile cycling, and 100 yards running I’m all over that…

Ah, I should have guessed…

Glad you made it through the night, shoe. And the rodents are singing (gnawing) your praises right now…heck, offer me 2 lbs of fries and…

Morning all. Up about 6:30am and am now breaking fast before dressing for indoor soccer day. Will work with the U8’s from 8-10am and the 10U’s from 10am-12pm, take a break for 2nd breakfast, and then back to coach/referee the 12U’s from 1-3pm, so that should keep me busy for the balance of the day. 46F now heading to 57F, but rain is due tonight and tomorrow.

Have a good weekend all.

I’ve seen those kinds of stockings. Depending on the scraps I have left, I may give that a shot. But mainly I’m planning to daisy-chain all the scraps together and make a random-colored blanket.

This made me laugh more than it should have - soooooo juvenile!

I hope next week it’s Coke products - my stash is running low.

The gutters and roof are being de-leafed as I write this. The guy is using a leaf-blower and when he waves it across the shingles, it sounds really weird! I don’t care - it keeps FCD off the roof, keeps our gutters from clogging up and is $150 well-spent. Support local business and all that. But the poor guy has to go pressure-wash a dump truck next. It’s 28° at the moment. I hope he has waterproof overalls!

The guest room carpet is dry, so today’s big chore will be cleaning out the closet in there sorting what I’d crammed on the upper shelves, and organizing it. I’ll also take a bunch of crap out of the closet in FCD’s office and consolidating it all in the guest room closet.

Today’s also the day that we’ll sit down and sort out the money to be distributed to TX SIL and the two grands (MIL’s grands, not mine) as well as what’s going into trust for BIL and then our share. When we meet with our money guy on Tuesday, we’ll have a plan, tho his suggestions are always welcome, especially with regards to BIL’s share.

Speaking of kielbasa, I just wrote to my mom and asked her to get me 3 rings of fresh Polish sausage and bring it on Christmas. I’m down to my last ring in the freezer and I can’t buy it around here. So I have that to look forward to.

OK, time to get in gear. I guess. Adulting won’t wait.

Happy Saturday!!

I previously posted that we were running low on TP and hoping Kroger would put our brand, Charmin Ultra Strong, on sale in the not too distant future. Well Kroger came through this week, $3 off a 12 pack so I bought 3 meaning we are now set for awhile with fresh 36 rolls.

Just looked at the weather forecast. Today it might possibly break through the freezing point up to 34. Tomorrow will get up to the low 40’s but it’s supposed to rain all day. Ugh. I’m set to lector at the 10am mass tomorrow then we’re going to daughter’s new abode for brunch. :slightly_smiling_face:

any Kroger out your way? They have 12 packs for $4.99 with digital coupon this week.

shoe has motivated me to go get the upstairs hamper and start a load of laundry. Then I’ll work on addressing Christmas cards (was only able to address 4 yesterday due to need to WFH on completing budget entry into the Finance software to meet deadline), wash dishes, etc.

Instead of Musical Chairs, you’re playing Musical Stuff.

Oh, that sounds cool!

Well, there ya go. Cake for lunch!

Overachiever.

Thank you for the reminder! I’d noticed the other day I’m down to four (4) rolls, but by the time I’d wandered back to wherever my phone was, naturally, I’d forgotten.

It’s on my list now, with two exclamation marks behind it to indicate that no, shoe, you can’t skip it this time.

First time in a long time I’ve actually wanted breakfast. Thinking either a thingie of yogurt, or - don’t judge! - nuking a frozen pretzel.

Then, back to bed, perchance to dream …

Nope. Our local groceries are Food Lion, Weis (yuck), Giant ($$$), Harris Teeter ($$$$), and Aldi ( ) Oh, yeah, and the Mart of Wal. Plus I prefer the 6-packs of bottles to the cans. That way if by some strange chance I don’t drink the whole thing, I can cap it and stick it back in the fridge. WHO am I kidding?? One bottle fills one of my favorite glasses, and that’s part of a good breakfast!

Sales of Coke and Pepsi alternate here, so I’ll assume that Coke is up next.

Gutter cleaner is almost done. His check is written. Then on to chores.

I’m so sorry. I do hope this all works out for you and that you start feeling better soon.

Go you! I’m glad you are feeling better. I’m also entertained by the idea of you giving your ratties a happy meal

When I was spending my Saturdays at the pet store, we made a bunch of money during the holidays. I hope it works that way for you as well.

Our local pet rescue group had their X-mas wish-list on FB and hubs ordered a lot of their wishes for them. Everything finally arrived Thursday so yesterday we took it to them. They seemed more impressed with the case of their chosen cleaning supplies than the fuzzy blankets, LOL!

I have also decided to change the sheets and do all of the laundry this weekend. I’m sure that everything will go well on Monday, but I haven’t washed the throws or kitty beds for at least a month. I’ll probably bake some stress cookies later.

Off to strip the bed then. It won’t get started if I keep messing around here.

I want the recipe for stress cookies.:cookie:

Well, good morning, Mumpers!

It’s 50 degrees and drizzling outside. We’ve reached the expected high temperature, and the day will consist of rain showers.

shoe, I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and yay for progress with household chores and happy critters.

VanGo, I’m so sorry about your shop. I hope your cold passes soon.

JtC, I hope the AZ unemployment issues are settled soonest. They should be able to state what they paid you monthly, and you can send copies of bank statements showing those payments in those amounts were never deposited.

So yesterday morning, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a new TV. It’s supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. The one we have is quite old and has some peculiar dark spots that have been growing, making it difficult to see what’s on the screen when the scenes are dark or nighttime. And, of course, because I finally allowed myself to spend on a want, a need broke down. I was two-thirds of the way through with steam cleaning my carpet when my steam cleaner decided it would no longer dispense water or cleaning solution. :unamused: I took it apart and cleaned everything out, but it’s still a no-go. So, either the pump or the hose dispenses the solution. I dunno. It’s all very annoying. So, today I need to rent a cleaner or, say, eff it and buy a new one because I’m sick of trying to fix things.

Also, my furnace service didn’t happen because the staff called out sick. So, now that’s been rescheduled for Tuesday, I just realized I have a hair appointment on the same day. My husband will be home, but I tend to deal with the service calls and deliveries. I guess he’ll have to do it.

I guess I better get going. I will google that stupid cleaner one more time to see if I can break it down to get to the hose to clean it out.

Today I go to the library ( its usually the day for the new People mag) and am signed up for a Tea Party.
Tea, snacks, maybe a trivia game.
Libraries are my favorite place.

Couldn’t you just put her under a heat lamp or something? :open_mouth: :d&r:

Glad you’re feeling somewhat human again.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, done KP and broken down the overflowing box collection I seem to have acquired. I’ll take them to the dumpster when I go out in a bit.

I need to go to Tar-jay for a new kitchen trash can today. The one I’ve had for years is having issues with the latch staying closed. I also need to swing by the dollar store for a gift bag for the dirty Santa game at the holiday tea next weekend. This evening, I’ll tart some Godiva bars as snowfolk with paper for each person there

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Very windy here in almost Canada. I haven’t looked at the bay yet, but I’ll bet it’s wild. We heard a thump. I said, ‘I’ll bet that was the wood stack cover.’ I went out into the catio and I said, ‘That was the wood stack cover.’ SWMBO made me move it away from the house, so as to prevent moisture from collecting between it and the house. I put it in the middle of the deck, wondering if SWMBO would ask me why I put it there. She never did, but now she knows. When it blew over, it missed the house by inches. I really should put some wood in it to weigh it down.
