(Old) Really? I'm starting the MMP?

My 3 yo grandson likes it when we mix a spoon of everything seasoning into plain Greek yogurt for him to use as a dip for raw vegetables or chips.

My grands are fond of Reese’s peanut butter cups, gummy worms, starbursts and M & M’s.

I’m just sorry our hippie might still have been at his fishing cabin in the Ozarks and not able to see our Huskers bringing it all. I can’t remember ever smiling so much after losing a game.

That Badger fake punt in the first quarter was a thing of beauty!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’.*YAWN * ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization wherein I have Verger duty. It’s Reformation Sunday which is not a big Whiskypalian thing, but we do it for our Luterun sisters and brothers. Thus red (N.O.R.) must be worn. Then it will be back to da cave. Any need to feed today will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Cleaning, then afternoon sloth and handegg. It is currently dark, rainy, and 53 degrees ferret height.

The crushed red velvet cassock?

Woke around 4 to the sound of disgusting cat noises, so I got up, cleaned it up, then tried to go back to sleep - HAH! It’s now creeping up on 8 and I’ve just finished breakfast as caffeination continues. MIL is up, even tho they’re not leaving for church for 2 hours. I’ve got her meds ready for after she’s done dressing. Thus beginneth my day.

Leaf choppage will happen today. Probably other stuff, too. Bean soup for supper - I decided that yesterday. Beyond that, no plans.

Happy Last Sunday in October!

I can’t believe I’ve missed out on cornmeal pancakes for most of my life. They’re practically orgasmic.

Morning all. Up early and headed out to Krispy Kreme for some fresh, hot donuts. Have now consumed said donuts and belly is a happy place. Not much else planned until I this afternoon when I coach soccer and the boys get to paint my beard. After that we’ll see how it goes. 57F now but due to get to 78F so another nice day in N. Ali-bama.

And I have read all but it’s too early to absorb anything, plus I am coming down from my sugar high, so have a good Sunday all.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 10c/51f with a predicted high of 11c/53f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Imagine if you were riding a horse and all that horse wanted to do was eat fucking grass. That’s like this weather. Fucking boring.” Except it’s bright and sunny out there today, Weather App!

She’s not been well and there was a storm, she definitely needed you.

Taters I hope everyone else gets their act together and stops making your life so difficult!

It’s a shame you didn’t get to hand it over, but it’s always good to know you’ve been able to make someone’s evening!

Wordy keeping fingers and toes crossed for Overlygirl!

Oopsie happy Gotcha day to Bailey - she looks gorgeous.

That is a beautiful view!

Scudsucker good for you and the other person for helping out. I would have expected better from the police too.

Throwing stuff out is therapeutic

That does look like a beautiful setting though, shame they’ve priced themselves out of the running this time.

Don’t feel bad about it, your manager needs an honest evaluation of the situation so she knows what happens if she’s not there. Being honest is what she needs, things can’t get better if everyone hides the truth.

I missed catching up with the MMP yesterday, life got in the way and I ran out of time. I was up early to tend to the cats and have a banana with my cup of tea before the gym, then went straight to the hairdressers to get my hair cut, then I’d planned to stop off back at home briefly before heading out to do a couple of hours fundraising for Little Paws.

Somewhere between home and the hairdressers, I managed to get a nail embedded in Keith’s front tyre. I could hear the noise as I was driving but couldn’t work out what it was and the tyre didn’t look flat plus the pressure warning light wasn’t on. I was late getting out of the salon so headed straight off in the direction of the pet store where we do our fundraising. After a short bit of driving, I really wasn’t happy with things so I pulled off the main road into a side street to have another look. That’s when I was able to see the nail in the tyre which explained the noise. And fortunately, there was a little garage across the road!

I pulled up outside, and the guy said he was just about to close up for the day but he looked at the tyre and said he’d fix it for me. That only delayed me by about half an hour, and I made the time up at the pet store. We never raise much actual cash there but we took a little of £100 in donations, plus we get some back through their loyalty card scheme as we’re their partner charity. After I’d done 3hrs there, I headed back home for a much-needed cuppa, then made a very quick dinner before we went out for the night.

We went to one of our favourite local venues to see Y&T on their 50th anniversary tour. I’d seen the stage times and we wanted to be there for the support act too so I had to get us out of the house pretty quickly! It was a very good night - the band were on stage for 2hrs, and played at least one song from every one of their studio albums so we knew it was going to be a great night. As usual, ran into friends and also as usual, there was beer and hugging.

Afterwards, we walked back into town thinking we might pop into the Giffard but there were quite a few people waiting to get in and the door staff were only allowing them in as people left. They were having a Hallowe’en party night and were open until 7am so we knew it would be busy. Instead, we wandered further up into town and went into the Posada instead, met a couple of gig friends there and had a pleasant end to the evening. Home with a cup of tea and some toast by 3am!

Today is a day of sloth for the most part although I have already tended to the cats, stripped the bed, put the sheets in the wash, and I’ve had a bath. It’s lunchtime now, so I should be able to spend the afternoon on the sofa with plenty of tea and a good book. Maybe even a cat might come to visit.

I got them because I remember how DELICIOUS the pomegranate Diet 7up was. This is not the same, but it’s growing on me.

It is an open marketplace that has some stores in it. We have stayed there at least twice that I can remember when going to see Depeche Mode and Howard Jones in concert. Because of my knee, I’m not much for walking around especially now that my other knee has started hurting when I’m wearing my shoes with braces and orthotics. This both frustrates and scares me.

We are talking about buying a twin sized bed for me to sleep in on the first floor when MusicMan is not home. I’m not thrilled by this suggestion, but I do suppose that it’s better than the pain of walking up the stairs. Also, thankfully, (I think I mentioned this before) the ramp project will get here soon to build a ramp to get into the house. This is one of the most tricky maneuvers because there isn’t anything to hold onto once you get to the top step,

Awesome!

Shoe, glad that you were able to discuss what you needed to.

Well, there’s a poodle sitting next to me who needs a bit more attention, so I’d better scram.

Way back when I was still working, my boss would pull me into his office (we both were there before anyone else) and ask me about the climate among my coworkers. I was the oldest one there by far - even older than he was - and he told me he trusted my input. It felt good to have his trust. Best Boss Evah!

I spared all of you more whining about MIL, except to say I’m tired of hearing about her Wedgwood china. She used to have service for 12, but now she could only serve 7, what with all the broken pieces. I dream of the day when I can rehome it all - maybe a foo-foo tea shop around here would want it?

OK, off to Food Lion for a few items. Then mowage. Then chillage.

Oh to have been a bug on the wall when she heard you and Steve had eloped and you weren’t registered for a china pattern! The consternation! The gnashing of teeth! The crumpling of tear-soaked hankies in her dainty little lady-like fist!

I woke up to find this in my Facebook feed:

TrafficAlert. I5 at MP254 (Bham) is currently fully blocked due to a landslide. The Southbound side of Interstate 5 is ALSO partially blocked due to this incident. Detours are being set in place, expect delays if you’re going through the area. -WSP

I turned to the morning news just in time to hear the weather women and the (anchor?) woman talking about a traffic problem in Bellingham, and the weather woman said Bellingham got over two inches of rain. Didn’t hear it up here (20+ miles north)! Did hear some wind blowing the shades just before I got up.

Anyway, Exit 254 is Iowa Street. The freeway is elevated there. I’m wondering where the land slid.

IME, the sixth clock in of the week.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP / Sunday chores. Not a whole lot shaking otherwise.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Heh - what she heard was after the fact. To quote FCD when he spoke to his folks the day after we eloped: “Guess what we did yesterday!” We were the only ones who knew we were getting married.

Back from Food Lion. Ever since COVID, it appears stores no longer restock at night. They block the aisles while we’re trying to shop. Add to that the employees filling on-line orders leaving their carts thither and yon - it’s a veritable obstacle course when you add in shoppers who block what remains of the aisles. So that was fun.

I need to do mowage. I don’t want to. I’m debating. Mowage is losing. What a surprise!!!

dogbutler: < attempts to strip bed >
Fitted sheet: < becomes aggressive >
dogbutler: “Spot!”
Spot: “Brrt!”
But I’m 3/4 of the way through the cleaning. Next up dusting and vacuuming!

Good, because nothing spoils Sunday sloth than a 6.0 on the Richter Scale.

OK, it’s near Iowa Street. The freeway is lower than the surrounding terrain at that point.

It was 40°F when I woke up and took Bailey out this morning: right now it’s 47 and mostly sunny, with a forecasted high of only 60. Some proper fall weather. This week will be a bit insane, though, including a forecasted high of 82 on Halloween!!

I just learned that a Kindle that displays color is being released this week! It’s called the Colorsoft. I’m super intrigued, but I don’t actually want one because there are no page-turn buttons: if I can’t use it with one hand, I’m not interested. I read quickly but need a large-ish font, and I can’t stand having to reach out to tap a screen every few seconds. Part of me is glad, because the Colorsoft is pricey but if it had buttons I know that eventually I’d have to get one! :joy: (No Kindle models have buttons anymore; I hope mine lasts for a really long time!)

I wound up not going to my BFFs’ for dinner/pumpkin carving last night. Wife BFF had confirmed with me yesterday morning, but didn’t respond to a few afternoon texts and then cancelled at 5pm. Turns out she’d slept all afternoon, and wasn’t feeling up to it. She has some chronic health conditions so it’s often difficult to predict how she’ll feel day-to-day, but she’d never had to change/cancel plans on the same day like that. Of course, I completely understood; I know it’s super frustrating for her. It would have been nice to spend some time with them and their son (my “nephew”), but que sera. I’ll see my nephew when we go to the Lego “bricks & brews” thing in a few weeks, and – as long as Wife BFF is up for it – I’ll see them all at Thanksgiving.

Today I’m looking forward to going out to lunch with a friend. She’s a former co-worker: we met when she was one of my panel interviewers 23 years ago, and we were tech writers on the same team for 5 years. (I’m still in touch with several people from that company; it was a special place/time.) We’re Facebook friends, but we also make sure to get together once or twice a year. I actually just saw her two months ago, when she joined another former co-worker and me for lunch, but today will be just the two of us; it’ll be nice to catch up one-on-one. The place we’re going to is next to one of my favorite bakeries, and I’d been looking forward to bringing home a bunch of their scones, but I just checked their website and reminded myself that they’re closed on Sundays. My waistline says it’s probably just as well.

I hope so, too! I’ve been in this place for 10 years, and will stay for as long as I have Bailey: it’s my home, and I don’t mind spending money every now and then on things like landscaping or a new storm door if it means getting what I want and feeling good about where I live. The fence was an anomaly: I bought that using some of the money I got after my mom died. It’s absolutely been worth it, but I can’t imagine ever spending that much on a rental again (or even having that much again…LOL!). I do as much as I can on my own/hardly ever ask my property manager for anything, but when when I do request a repair or something it takes forever to get a decent response/any action. I like to think that his appreciation is reflected in the fact that my rent has only increased 34% since 2014; other rents in this area have gone up much more.

And now she’s shrinking again! LOL!

She weighed a little under 9 pounds at adoption (3 months old): at her healthiest, she was 50-51 pounds. As she’s gotten older, though, she’s stopped eating as much as her activity has decreased, and at her annual exam earlier this month (16 years old) she weighed just 35 pounds. The vet said she’s actually underweight at this point. :frowning: We’re taking steps to help her get closer to 40 pounds.

What a great idea!!

Part of my brain is aware that November starts on Friday and the election is just over a week away, but this still caught me off guard! Sigh.

I guess the Replacements site didn’t work out, then…?

IIRC, Mauser’s a Dachshund. Hubby just showed me this:

Love that stuff. If I go to the store close enough to closing, they have stuff (including salads, sandwiches, etc.) marked 50% off. Very useful for evening meals, and sometimes breakfast.

That make’s a lot more sense. Still wouldn’t wear it, though.

Yesterday we bought day passes for next Saturday, so we can ride around on the trains in Switzerland. We’re planning a stop at 5 guys and are hoping that the Krispy Kreme shop is open. Probably too much to ask for fresh ones, but I hope we can take some home. According to their website they have Ghostbuster donuts now. But Saturday will be after Halloween.

Yesterday we finally got rid of a bunch of chemical waste (pesticides, paint, etc.). It’s been sitting in the shed for many, many years. So nice to dispose of it with the proper authorities, and I didn’t have to pay!

Yesterday was fall fog, and we didn’t do much, except waste disposal and grocery shopping at three different stores.

As today is the last Sunday in October, we got the privilege of starting winter time. I think the US changes next weekend, so we have one week of being a bit confused about what time it is over there.

Did get a walk in and made blueberry breakfast cake, which I still need to slice up. First I’ll go do some strenthening exercises. I need to find my list of shoulder exercises - my neck is telling me I spend way too much time on the computer.

If you’d like to clean in Ohio, come on up!

It’s baking day! I made what we call around these parts “CDTs” aka Cinnamon Dessert Thingys aka Cream cheese crescent roll squares.

Soon it will be time for ‘mandatory fun.’

I would totally make the trashiest crap meal (like, spray cheez on crackers type of thing, or whatever counts as “lazy food” in your household) and set it out on the fine china.

Might as well get some use out of it!

Bonus points for adding those curly parsley sprigs nobody actually eats.

Go big or go home.

I’m usually the one who does, so I don’t mind sharing the opportunities for a tiny moment of joy.
She’s the one who’s worked there 20 years and knows aaalllll the regulars, anyway.

I know but it still felt traitorous.

And cathartic.

Jeebus, and I complain about my Long Night shifts.

Helluvan opening shift, though, for the morning staff. (“Are those drunks still here?!?”)

Dooooooo ittttttt.

All that pain is damage. Reducing further damage should be a goal here, and eliminating the need to climb stairs just to sleep seems like a straightforward (if $$) step - HA!! - in the right direction.

So the only difference is, shoppers in uniform vs. shoppers in grubby PJs.

The housing situation in this lovely country really has gone off the rails, hasn’t it?

{ elbows Sticky outta the way } Nuh-uh, lady. Michigan’s got dibs.

Alright, well, I’ve been up for hours after bio-break … sometimes my day off = “OMGZ I can finally sleeeeeep” and sometimes it’s more glorying in the hedonism that is sitting around derping on my phone, so … I think I may bestir myself into an actual, real, big (for me) meal. Hopefully followed by a nap.

Meanwhile, I just opened the side door for Monks (who had better be a good boy! and come back when called) so he can work off some zoomies.

Oh, I got him a new toy! I’m excited to give it to him, next time he’s got zoomies in the middle of the night when I sure as shit am not gonna let him out.
It’s a tiny stuffed mousie inside a wire spiral sphere … it should bounce and roll when tossed, and hopefully he can enjoy attacking & having some kitteh-time fun with it, at least until he inevitably yeets it down the basement stairs.

I have a Bunch O’Crap ™ tucked under the stairs and I’m pretty sure at this point if I cleaned everything out I could open a bodega selling nothing but the secondhand cat toys lurking among the boxes.

Oh, and it seems somebody forgot she already bought kitteh treats earlier & got another bag last grocery run, so now he has TWO bags of 'em waiting unopened until he’s done chasing around the ones from the open bags, plus fresh 'nip, all stashed on top of the armoire in the only spot in the house he can’t get to.

I would like to state for the record that I absolutely do not spoil any creature under my care in any way, shape, or form.

That’s my story & I’m stickin’ to it.

Out for a post-breakfast walk of a mile+. Some of my favorite things: walking through piles of leaves; a blast of wind that sends leaves scurrying down the street like mad things. “I gotta be over there!!!” And fireplace aroma. The last three blocks was a slog. Hip pain just never goes away, I guess.
