(Old) Really? I'm starting the MMP?

I’ve contacted them twice and all I got was put on their mailing list. Not impressed.

In fall and spring, our landfill does HazMat amnesty day - you can take all your nasties, and leftover paint, and they don’t charge you. I know they recycle the paint, but I don’t know about the rest. You have to look for the date, tho - it’s not widely advertised.

Hot dogs in whomp biscuits? Scrambled eggs with baloney? Spaghetti-o’s?

OK, leaf-choppage is done, and the doggone trees are dropping more on my formerly clear lawn. Stoopit trees. I’ve got to good-ice maker running. And once I’m done posting, it’ll be Crochet City, BAAAYBEEE!!!

Or maybe a nap. Or TV. Dunno.

Spaghetti with hot dogs cut up into it?

Shit on a sh-- I mean, creamed chipped beef on toast?

Same here. Yesterday one of those on-line order carts rammed into me because they are so friggin’ huge that they can’t see where they’re going, they just plough ahead like a coal-rolling dually pickup truck. And of course they stop and dally where they damn please.

No, meee, meeeee! Realistically though, Nebraska has no chance-the :pizza::pizza::pizza: isn’t neatly as good near me as in Michigan. Sigh…

I saw that online this morning, and I’ll be curious to see photos to compare with the usual Highway 101 slides in Oregon. I’d’ve alerted you but figured you weren’t commuting on a Sunday. I’ll bet you know, but you can cut off I-5 and head toward downtown Bham on Northwest, then take State to Fairhaven and get back on the freeway. I’m sure there are more elegant detours, but that is functional.

My lovely wife has an allergist appointment so she’s eating the foods that wreck her for several days (gluten, dairy, eggs, beans, carrots…) in order to have the issue show up on testing. Yeah, iatrogenic gut problems are so fun.

I hope she’s at least enjoying the flavors (if not the after-effects) of her “cheat” diet.

Yes, she’s having fun and we’re sleeping separately

It’s weird not to be preping parallel foods, and to have her able to taste mine. She says she won’t eat cheese because she’s grown accustomed to the substitutes and thinks cheese would be the hardest category to have to give up again, but we’ll see if she succumbs to a pizza.

I just got a link to that dachshund illustration a couple of days ago. It was called Escherhound.

My heart just broke on her behalf.

JtC look away. Just, look away.

Well, after years of avoiding it, including working in a hospital, I just tested positive for Covid. How does a RDOS who goes to the barn get exposed??? I talked to the triage nurse at urgent care and she said I did not need to come in unless I got really bad. Self monitor, isolate and once my fever has been gone for 24 hours I can resume activity. Of course I don’t know if I have a fever because my thermometer is not working. Tomorrow I may go to CVS with a mask on and get a new thermometer.

Deheathenated this morning. It was Reformation Sunday so of course we sang “A Mighty Fortress” After church during coffee the youth group had an auction of decorated pumpkins. I’d seen them on the website and was determined to get the one that had been painted like a strawberry. Got it! Folks were generous, because after all we weren’t buying pumpkins really but donating to the youth group. It was actually pretty large so one of the young people carried it to the car for me.

I’m going to treat myself later by getting dinner from a favorite food truck of mine. It serves up African style food. I wish I knew the seasonings used in the one bean dish, it isn’t quite like anything I’d had before but is really tasty.

Also later I’m going to make a last ditch attempt at mixing up a sour dough starter. I have consulted with Chefguy about it as well. If this one doesn’t work I will try a commercial starter. And if any of you have done it and have pointers please let me know!

It’s been a gorgeous fall day.

[Email] ‘I’m going to have to telecommute today. There was a landslide on the freeway.’

(I’m only commuting one day a month now.)

Howdy Y’all! Deheathenization went well and my two new acolytes did good. I was a proud bear. After ‘‘twas back to da cave for a sammich followed by nappage followed by day drinkin’. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Now ‘tis time for Netflix, chill, and popcorn with the possibility of cookies as well.

doggio you know I only wear the red crushed velvet cassock at Christmas and for weddin’s.

MetalMouse I have been known to almost do a uturn when the “Hot Now” sign is on at KK.

BooFae glad you were able to get the tire fixed so quickly.

WetOne hope you’re over the plague soonest.

I hope that your case is mild.

Does your CVS have a drive thru? or delivery?

Sunday chores are done and Sunday dinner et. I’ve done some card assembly today from what I’d cut out the last couple of days. I’ll finish up in a bit, but first things first, a small reddish dog is demanding cuddles. <3

I found some pretty intense photos of the slide!

As for me, I super-heathenated by worshipping nature, or at least collecting oak leaves to compost surreptitiously and cutting back the viburnum.

Then I had a conversation with our newish neighbor about what language his family speaks and how it’s appropriate to greet the older people when they relax on their front porch (Punjabi, but “namaste” is just fine).

Since my lovely wife needs gluten to destroy her functioning, I’m thinking Trader Joe’s miso-ginger soup with TJ’s cilantro-chicken wontons for dinner.

I mentioned my friend from high school, whose wife of 39 years died a few months ago. In the '90s he was doing pretty well, working IT at Boeing. He even got a patent for something there. Then he was hit in his car and suffered TBI. We hadn’t communicated until the last decade (maybe) when we hoked up on Facebook. Since he was alone, all of their cats have been re-homed and he’s been moved from their house in the Valley to a memory care facility in San Diego. I guess one of his sisters visits occasionally, but he doesn’t have any other visitors. His late wife handled his FB page, so he doesn’t even have access to that.

Anyway, I got the number of the care facility right before we went on vacation. I just gave him a call. He has plans to build a full-scale TARDIS. I don’t think he understands that the facility isn’t likely to let him. He’d like us to visit, but I had to explain to him that he’s near the Mexican border and we’re four miles from Canada. I hope I cheered him up, and told him he hasn’t been forgotten.

Afternoon all. The beard was successfully painted and it must have worked for the boys because we won the game 4-0, so we will be playing in the Semifinals (and hopefully the finals) next week. Will get a picture up in the Book of Faces (in fact I just did: Redirecting... ). Then stuck around to help referee the next game and am now home and have no plans to wander anymore today.

boo fae, sometimes I get tired just reading your Saturday schedule. Sounds like you’ve earned your day of rest. And good on the guy for sticking around and doing the tire fix.

Sticky Buns, I concur with Music Man, a twin bed without having to stress your knee all the time seems like a good deal to me. And reading further, shoe said it better than I did.

Flyboy, just glad you weren’t on that road when the slide decided to happen. Just googled it and it apparently ate a semi-trailer. And good on letting what is probably a lonely man that people haven’t forgotten him.

Enjoy(ed) your lunch out, Oopsie.

Dicey, will keep my fingers crossed for an open Krispy Kreme.

FCM, when I bought this place in 1997 they planted 4 trees in the yard; about 2 years later I got rid of them and have never regretted it.

lily, when you and flyboy use ‘Bham’, I immediately think ‘Birmingham’ instead of ‘Bellingham’. All a matter of geography, I reckon. Hope wife unit doesn;t suffer too much for the cause of science and medicine.

Get well soon, wet one.

Cupcakes, hope the food truck meal was good.

A true man of the people, you are.

And that’s all I wrote. Take care all.

I finished up a set of beachy-type cards, including an experimental shadow box card. The other two are standard A2.

Attractive!

You are a good, good person.

Maybe there is a Lego Tardis set you could send him. Or a jigsaw puzzle of a Tardis. I’m sure Mumper building experts like oopsie or paintcharge would have some good ideas.

Sending him things occasionally will directly do him a world of good but also inform the assisted living home staff that he has friends who care about him, who are staying in touch with him and are watching out for him. You’d be amazed at how that can improve the quality of care he’ll receive.

Again, you are a good hoo-man.

I cleaned, did 3 loads of laundry, took out the trash and recycling, and changed the liiter. Plus handegg and F1. Spot did signficantly less. Now I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.

Shared custody?

[People’s Front of Judea]SPLITTER![/PFoJ]

You did a halibut good job!

Awww. Feel better!
