(Old) Silly Songs In The MMP

And a good later afternoon to all. Did a little walking and a lot of stationary biking so was out of the house for most of the day, it got to 68F but very little sunshine, next week looks about the same, highs around 70F and rain Tuesday and Friday. Need to send an e-mail to all the U10 Girls soccer parents welcoming them and trolling for coaches, will knock that off later tonight. Otherwise just need to feed my face in a little bit and read the newspaper tonight.

doggio, haven’t been to Dune 2 yet, but that popcorn topper is…disturbing. Think I’ll pass on that if given the option.

IL, I’ve been pretty lucky, no bad news from the dentist in quite some time, hopefully I can keep that record going.

Oopsie, glad it wasn’t anything serious and those Lego’s look interestin.

Cookie, glad you could hear your grand-daughter, as a singer I was…loud.

VanGo, fingers crossed for good news in the near future for you.

red, conga-rats on the album, I’m sure the buyers will be impressed and pay immediately with a nice tip included.

OK, need to forage for the evening sustenance and do the night-time You-Tubing, so take care all and if I don;t get back tonight, I’ll catch y’all on the next MMP.

W00t! Smoke and then sleep well.

I wonder if Bast is thinking of sending you another feline overlord.

She’s one of my favorites, she is so good with textures and colors.

They make some very realistic LED candles nowadays, I was really surprised when I looked at the huge selection available.

Hurray for ice cream, give her more!!!

My thought when shoe mentioned it was that it would soften the skin nicely.

I not quite fondly remember those days.

They were different and they were doing things!!!

The bats are the reason we don’t leave our porch lights on. We are a block away from the desert with all of those night blooming plants. I know that they often visit our feeders, I can tell by the syrup level but they usually come later at night.

Thank you for your sweet words and memories, but that is not a quilt. It is a needlepoint sampler

@longhair is the one who does the amazing quilts

Neat! Those look like so much fun and the piano is just so you!

Sometimes the stars do align

Put me on your list. We will be in Dallas, so you don’t need to bother with the finger lakes. I’ll pick a stain tomorrow. (I have the perfect spot on a display shelf for it.)

You are a good kittah slave!

Spot: I’ve been an inside cat and I’ve been an outside cat. I’m not risking being an outside cat again!

The Best Cat in the World would run away from opened doors, he refused to take the chance of ending up on the other side of it again.

All of this.

D’oh! Another issue with using only my phone and not a laptop (also, I see that I didn’t actually delete the original long post that I tried to edit) is that pictures are reeeeeally teensy and it’s hard to see details. It’s a really gorgeous needlepoint sampler, though! Mr. L’s aunt, my late MIL’s sister, is the needlepoint artist of his family.

My mom taught me bookkeeping and sarcasm, and I only really mastered the latter.

I would love to have bats visit! When my kids were little, we made a bat box and put it out on the fence, but we apparently don’t have enough open airspace for them because of the power lines behind our house.

We have one cat who will dash outside at the drop of a hat. The other went out on the porch exactly once and decided that outdoors is Too Scary.

When I had cats, one was a prima donna pet shop baby (I inherited her) and the other was a rescued barn kitty (his mom and sibs were killed by a wildcat). Guess which one would escape to the great outdoors whenever she got the chance? And which one who had absolutely zero interest in what was outside of the walls of home?

rocker, glad that the chicken soup seemed to be medicinal for both of you.

Wow, I won’t even try using my phone to post. I can barely see anything and it takes soo long to scroll through the thread.

We have a bat house that has moved house with us and also travels around the yard. No bats have even taken temporary residence in it. I suspect that while they are happy to visit and drink from the hummer feeders or the night blooming 4 o’clocks I plant, they don’t want to actually live around people. We are so noisy they can’t hear themselves talk.

We really haven’t had any issues with escape artists, but we have always had catios so the cats can go out whenever they want. Our last one was the size of flyboy’s, our current one is four lattice sheets long and one sheet wide. They don’t really need a big floor area as long as they have plenty of up high perches.

Is that maybe a possibility for you?

Yeppers! Cats can be pretty smart when it comes to comfort, LOL!

@Paintcharge I would suggest that you post your eclipse viewers in the eclipse thread : USA TSE, total solar eclipse: April 2024 (was "three years away for USA" when started) - #364 by Ulf_the_Unwashed

You might be able to drum up more business, plus maybe get an idea about how non-Mumpers will react to them.

I am sad.
I have a clever title for tomorrows MMP, but while I’m sleeping, someone will beat me to it.
I will post it in the thread though.
Must get up early and get my yearly gyno exam.
I should be fine, now I’m abstinate. And obstinant.
(Sp?)
See youse peeps tomorrow!:shamrock:

Will your doctor sing :notes: I’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places that this heart of mine embraces… :notes: ?

Happy Sunday!

It was foggy this morning.
We went to the park. I couldn’t take it anymore. The GR were running around the house slamming into each other.
We were there for 45 minutes and the GR didn’t want to leave.
I missed seeing it, but Petey dad told me Rayleigh slammed into Misiu and Misiu rolled twice. Then Misiu ran past me with Rayleigh hot on his heels. Misiu jumped onto the bench seat, then onto the back of the bench, then onto the ground without breaking a stride.
So much for keeping them quiet.

I’m going to try resetting the check engine light and see if that irks. It’s not blinking and the check ESC message hasn’t come back on. If that doesn’t irk, then into the shop it goes.

Well, dang. One of the burners on our electric stove turned on by itself. Hubs yanked the hot burner out of the socket with some plyers and put it back in after it cooled down. It heated right back up again.

This doesn’t fill us with confidence and it is an 17 year old stove so we are going to replace it. I don’t want a fancy-pants programable smart stove so we aren’t looking at that much money. I do want a self-cleaning, glass top WHITE stove and they are running around 8-9 hundred which isn’t as much as I was afraid it would be.

NF is replacing her very nice BLACK electric stove with a gas one because she likes the instant on and off feature. I briefly considered asking for her used stove until we can get a new one delivered, but then realized that if we put a black one in there, it will stay until it dies and I will get minorly grumbly every time I look at it.

I didn’t use to be this picky, I promise.

So, I would like opinions. Hubs thinks that the chances of the other three burner switches or the stove controls failing now is super low. I agree, but also know that electrical fires can spontaneously happen at very bad times so want to keep pans of water on the burners. Hubs says that keeping pots of water on the burners is fine as long as we can keep GG out of them.

GG knows to stay off the counters when the people are around, but he is a water loving cat and we don’t want to wake up to water all over the kitchen because he’s figured out how to take lids off pots.

So…what do you all think?

I clean, recycled, napped. Drinking a Guinness. Not a bad day off.

Keep the elements out of the switches when not using? Sounds less risky than trusting GG.

{{{{Coppertone}}}}

Also, it was meatloaf tonight. Spot is one dude who’s not missing Sunday dinner for nothin’.

It is obvious which one of us hasn’t been smoking weed tonight. /goes to the kitchen and pulls elements out/

Happily stoves aren’t as hard to get as dishwashers were last year, our new one is scheduled to be delivered Wednesday.

All the more reason to be sure he doesn’t accidently get yeeted outside!

doggio is a wise one. Yes pull all the burners out. I’d say get the BLACK stove from your friend and stuff it into your kitchen. Better working stove than runaway burners.

I got a black stove (gas) a couple years ago, and it is waaay harder to keep looking clean than the white stove I had before. The black is less forgiving. But I love the cook top. Essentially one big grate, over 5 burners.

See y’all on the morrow.

If you’ve got it handy, do you have a link to the recipe?

Everything you didn’t like, I can handle. Except the cayenne, but I’d have taken one look at the directions and done exactly what you did.

I can’t follow a recipe to the exact letter for shit, anyway. Improvise and improve, as I go.
“One … single clove of garlic? Psssh. Let’s start with four o’dem suckers …”

I worry you won’t remind me.

You hush yo’ filthy mouth, young lady. I can barely keep up with this one.

This made me smile.

Well, since you asked.

I’ve had electric; I’ve had gas; I’ve had glass top.

Fuck electric. Lived in a few places that had 'em, and they tend to universally suck, or at best, not suck too badly.

But the only one I ever hated more was the one year I rented a place with a snazzy new glass-top. Gawd, was I ever glad that thing was in my rear view mirror.

I was supposed to work about 4, maybe 5 hours today

Last thing Sweet Manager said to me before she went home, looking like absolute death warmed over, was “Do NOT cover for Crankypants. He’s trying to get out of closing.”

… soooooooooo …

… guess who got home super late after a rough close?

Covering manager really had no choice. One crew already called out a-pukin’ and Carless Co-worker was deep into overtime pay before he even walked into yesterday’s shift, because he’s been covering for everyone, including me. Crankypants was a-barfin, too, and the only other crew members are both minors - there are strict laws governing how many hours they can work per week.

… so, I did kinda volunteer. Sorta. By which I mean, I said, "Look, I reeeeeally don’t wanna do this, but … " to Covering Manager.

What a shitty night, to cap off a shitty week. And tomorrow, there may or may not be a Zoom call with my lovely  mother & a 3rd party mediator.

I wish I had the energy to hit the shit outta something. Maybe that would make me feel better.

the most thing this weekend is i set the microwave on fire trying to make popcorn again and i broke my 3-month-old tablet by dropping it on the way to my uncle’s truck …oh and it rained just long enough to ruin a bunch of stuff in the back yard again …

Like, actual flames? If so, I’m impressed.

yes for the second time in 2 or 3 months … two different brands …

Ruble’s favorite food was meatloaf. I am starting to suspect that he has been reincarnated as Spot. However, he would not have approved of having his manly parts removed.
