(Old) Sleepover in the MMP

You just described children, but people still insist on having those for reasons that flummox me, so … { shrug }

Helluva story about your trip there. I wonder if the “disaster” hotel had a computer meltdown and/or someone high enough up to leave them in the lurch quit abruptly.

Afternoon all. No morning report since soccer uniform work was from 8-Noon and I slept until 7:30am, so… Pretty steady level of customers, they can order uniforms on-line when they register but for some reason (I gather the system is hard to deal with or it takes to long to get the jersey) folks come here to the locals.

Rain has disappeared (may make an appearance tomorrow morning) and it’s nearing 90F, so may head over to the gym here shortly, since they close at 6pm on the weekend.

Pilot, quite an adventure; wonder how much you’ll miss it once retirement starts.

yankers, don’t blame you for crying; I am not a violent man but stories like that make me want to punch the perpetrator very, very hard several times…

doggio, enjoy the 192 hours of sloth and hope the contract is worth approving.

Seven-point-Eight on the Wussy Scale…

shoe, glad you’re eating something.

hippy, I don’t have dentures and I doubt I would have the nerve to do what you did, but I applaud it loudly.

boo fae, thanks for the kind words, I may add weights back in once I get to a weight I’m happy with, but your mention of structure is most gratifying.

JtC, you reminded me I have to get over to the local used book store (The Booklegger) one of these days, even if just for browsing the shelves.

Sari, kid is being a pain; you just keep on keepin’ on.

OK, need to put the swimsuit on and go backstroking for a bit. Take care all.

Oh, you have extra ventilation in your bathroom, too, huh?

Helps with air circulation, which removes excess moisture & reduces mildew. It’s so GOOD of our furry overlords to look out for us like this, isn’t it?

(My magnetic screen door is in tatters due to fly season. Matter of fact, it’s so shredded it looks like 1a.) a mountain lion tried to get in, and 2b.) it probably ain’t doin’ jack shit to keep out the sky raisins.

… which may have been Monkey’s plan all along. :face_with_monocle:

Home. We got the network connections completed between the office and the block of classrooms. We installed 3 of the wifi hotspots. Tomorrow, the first order of business will be gathering all our tools, etc, which are spread all over the school. And maybe I can persuade FCD that we can take some of the crap home.

Then we’ll install the rest of the wifi/network switch panels in the other 4 classrooms. Then, I’m not sure. But we’re getting closer to being done.

The rest of today is for slothage.

Have a great vacation doggio! Hope that the contract is satisfactory.

It rained this afternoon, so no dog park for Nelson. :frowning: I did get some bargains at Goodwill though. I found a pair of khaki capris, one of olive ones, two short sleeved cotton knit tops that will work under my uniform smock (they still had the Kohl’s store tags on them and one was even the color of the day, so half price!), a couple of heavy Land End tee shirts for sleeping (again, both half price) and a pair of flannel PJ pants. I got out of there for $26 and change, so I think that was a successful outing.

I’m going through every bit of clothing I own this weekend. Up to 5 or 6 donations bags. Anything that doesn’t fit, whether too large or too small, goes away this time around. The dresser and closet are looking nominally more spacious.

Buddy has decided to mess with DH’s mind a bit. Example: the cat decided he needed to go outside. Within minutes, he was asking to come back in, then within seconds he doubled back and headed back out the door DH had not had time to close.

Howdy Y’all! A good time was had by all today. So much so, we’re doin’ it again tomorrow. I do not have to serve tomorrow, so the executive decision was made to be heathens tomorrow. Tomorrow is also first Sunday brunch and we had intended to take some ham (which is bakin’ as I post) and a cabbage casserole. Instead we will have the ham, cabbage casserole, and a pineapple casserole for N.O.L. and then have an afternoon of quality cee-mint pond. We’ll be able to send JDD and Partner home with leftovers and have some for ourselves. Sometimes ya just gotta let your inner heathen have some fun.

We went to the marina, and we fish & chips, and we each had a beer. We walked down to Lady Washington, but there was a line and we’ve been aboard several times before; so we came home.

I tried my first attempt at poke earlier, and it’s good.

The afternoon had a lot of sun, some biking, a bit of beaching & swimming (brr!!), a few interesting convos w random folks, a couple of tourist purchases, and a fine bubba-tastic beachfront meal of a frou-frou rum/coconut cocktail, a pound of broiled Cajun shrimp with new red potatoes, scruffy green beans, a generic salad, and a martini for low-carb dessert. The meal was appropriately basic and rustic, the help was college-aged and cute, the passing two-legged scenery endlessly interesting, and all is right with the world.

I eventually turned in my rented bike, and moved to the swanky hotel down the road.

Dinner is now being had on the 23rd-floor snazzy “Asian fusion-plus-American-or-something” eatery. Lotta comfy class folks here tonight. Lotta casual dressing too. While waiting for the elevator up, I invited a nice looking ~50yo lady to join me, but she had to demur as her gaggle of lady-pals was meeting her downstairs to go someplace tacky. She was not dressed for tacky and seemed pretty interesting as a potential dinner companion. Oh well, her loss. Which is your gain.

The first course of oysters and a South African Chardonnay have been duly despatched. I prefer to dine slowly when I can, so the next course was just ordered and will eventually arrive.

Just stopping by to say I approve of the beauties you bought. Especially that ammonite lid. I love small bowls, too.

Tiring day, busy tomorrow, see you all on Moanday.

Keep this in mind – I read months ago that every hotel room in and anywhere near Erie was already booked up for the eclipse.

Up from naptime, I Mai Tai one on tonight

How could you say no to this face?

(the cuddly mommets do make up for the times they smash something, or blow up the litter box.)

looks good( a little more for everybody, and no givebacks like the company wanted). Most of the questions were about how driver seniority will shake out.

But better work views than I get when I get vexed(and roasted).
And hope you have a good contract

It oughta be pretty nice.

It will have nearly zero impact on my work life since I only have about 5 weeks left. It does contain a nice back-pay provision I’ll benefit from whether it’s voted in before or after I’m retired. And a smaller send-off retirement provision that would only be effective if it ratifies before I retire.

So although I’m not strictly indifferent to pass or fail, the net difference of yeah or nay right now is pretty small compared to a lifetime of getting the shortish end of what was supposed to be a very long stick. If it does not pass this time, there isn’t time for another round of negotiation then ratification before my personal fuze burns out. So now or never for me on that last minor provision.

Back to present tense …
Shortly after my last post, the entree arrived. Lamb rib chops w hoisin sauce, weird Chinese veggies, and a vinegary gingery potato salad as a base. Yaay for Asian fusion. Well-prepared but more weird than wonderful. However the staff was great, the Cab I had with it was great, and overall I can recommend.

Now a couple hours later I’m wrapping up a decaf espresso and a fascinating Hungarian Muscat. would have enjoyed a desert, but everything on offer was too sweet for me. All told, dinner took 4 hours. About right. A man could get used to this treatment.

Bedtime soon.

Cheers all. Happy Saturday night and best of luck on Sun!

I simply couldn’t. Wouldn’t even try.

Besides, those whiskers, those paws! Feline perfection.

Evening all. Made it to the gym and also got the dishwasher emptied, so I consider the afternoon a success. Will head off to bed here in a bit, thunder is rumbling around but supposed to depart in an hour or so (we’ll see).

Envious of all the good meals reported on…had Lean Cuisine Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner tonight, was good but nothing like some of the other repasts.

Screwed up my post so have to get this in before the edit window closes.

doggio, glad the contract seems favorable to you folks.

suzie, I’m getting a nice pile of stuff together for the next Purple Heart stop.

OK, onward into the night.

This is what I was going to say.

I left the unfired red one on the coffee table and GG started licking it so much that his tongue turned red and hubs made worried sounds when he emptied the litter robot. The bowl is safely on a shelf out of cat reach now.

Today all is good. Actually, COC figured out who I was when I gave him second lunch but GG wasn’t really sure until he had time to sleep on it. He came running over to say good morning when I opened the baby gate and I’m kinda doubting that he remembers that I was gone.

We will be able to survive the Zombie Apocalypse with clean dentures. Looking good while fighting off zombies is very important nowadays!

Holy cow, I am so sorry for her and for you.

We used to volunteer with a biker group who would meet abused children through the courts, befriend them and then go to court on the horrible day that the child had to relive the horror. Those burly tattooed bikers spent many hours crying their eyes out and would be more than willing to gather you into their embrace as they cried for that destroyed life.

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I sure wish I was clever like that!!!

Good to know. I wonder why Spot will deal when I go on an away vacation. which is looking like Nashville next year. < waves at red >

Home. Tahred. (But that’s to be expected.) However, I still feel better - even after mostly running the fryers all damn night, and y’all, we were slammed including several multiple-pizza orders in a row and just endless orders in general - but yeah, I feel less run down than I have in days.

Guess that whole “eat every day & take your vitamins” thing isn’t such a bad idea after all.

Ye gods, though, I have to keep this shit up every single damn day for the rest of my life?! There aren’t enough eyerolls.

For now, though, it’s time to kill some zombies, smoke some … stuff, snuggle with a certain cat, and, yes, eat.
