(Old) Sleepover in the MMP

Afternoon all. Made it to the gym and pedaled away 625 calories, but as I headed for the door the heavens let loose (40% chance of rain my Big Irish Ass…), thunder, lightning, downpour of Noachian size, everything but hail. Waited in the gym for an extra 40 minutes until it settled down a bit and came home. Looks like it has about stopped now, but no plans to go out for the rest of the day. Sammiches are the plan for the evening.

swampy, sounds like a fun day. And yeah, you might not get as much, but rain is probably in your forecast.

Cookie, great picture, looks like they’re not really happy about it…

We have a guy at the gym like that, don’t know when he exercises cause if he catches you he’ll talk your ear off.

My kind of guy. That’s what I’ll be eating here shortly.

Oopsie, y’all be careful! And good luck on the new contract (hey, it’s next year, but some early luck never hurts…).

OK, need to forage for some calories to replace those I cycled/sauna’ed off. Take care all.

Q’itih, actually. You can’t see her white goatee and bib in that photo.

Home, exhausted! The heat was really too much for MIL (and almost too much for me), but FCD was able to get her on a golf cart to take her to the shuttle stop, then we were the last ones on the shuttle. So yay!

The pic he took (once Daughter joined us) I’m sure you can figure out who is who.

Lunch break:

It was crazy crowded and HOT HOT HOT!! We stayed there maybe an hour, then went to DQ to cool down. We dropped off MIL, then I left FCD at home and took the kids to pick up Daughter where she was dropping off her car to get the A/C checked/fixed(?) and I took the 3 of them home. On my way home, I stopped at Food Lion for Diet Cokes on sale, and now chillage is in order.

Yeah, chillage.

Quoting myself for context from this morning. Not so fast, Batman!

My first ride from spoke to a hub went smoothly. Had a relaxing break at the Club with good snax & coffees. Next ride was to MIA to pick up my planned irk. But that plan already had me with a too-tight connection, so the irk would leave 30-40 minutes late and get us back home equally late. Sigh.

But then my second ride to MIA left the gate 40 minutes late after a plane swap and maintenance efforts on the new one, then we sat another hour out on the taxiway while lightning boomed everywhere and gusty winds shook the plane. Finally we launched. So now with all that, I’m getting there 2 hours late for my already too-tight irk.

So HQ in their most excellent wisdom gave my irk to somebody else, and gave me different irk that is scheduled to leave about an hour later. Which still means I’ll be 90+ minutes late to that revised irk. Yaay HQ! Way to pay attention to detail! Not.

If nothing else changes, I’ll get done irking more like midnight and home by 130am. Sigh2.

How long till retirement???

Not quite 40 days. Of which I’ll probably only irk 15 to 20. Repent! The End is Nigh!!!1!1!!

Happy Saturday!

So far, it’s nice, 70 degrees, outside, supposed to get up to 88 later today.
Probably about the time we go to pick up groceries at 2.

I fell asleep posting yesterday. I know I slept for at least 2 hours, possibly 3. The rain beating on the windows woke me up. I think I need a day of sleep.

Today is going to be busy with paperirk stuff.
We need to sign the estate stuff and mail it back today.
I want to make copies of everything before we mail them back.
Both of us need to sign all the contract stuff for the offer on the house. That is all digital, and I haven’t even told my son we’re doing it. He’s sleeping right now, and I’ll let him sleep a bit longer.
I have to open a TD Ameritrade account for myself. My son already has one. Then that info needs to be sent to NIece1 so she can transfer the funds. I do NOT want my niece to have our account information, but I think there is no way around giving it to her.
The real estate agent was going to make closing in 14 days. I said I don’t think we can do it that fast. We have to send in the forms, receive our checks, deposit the checks which will probably have a 10 day hold on them. I will dip into my stock for the additional cash needed and leave my son’s account alone. I’m not sure how long it will take to receive that money. I’m debating taking from his annuity. He has to take something out this year, or pay a penalty.
If our offer is accepted, closing will be around the 31st.
If it’s not accepted, then back to looking. Or still looking, because this morning I was out looking to see what is out there.
A few of the houses I was interested in already are pending.

If we weren’t getting groceries today, I would be taking my son back to Sonic. I was very disappointed with my sandwich yesterday. It was much smaller than it used to be and pretty tasteless. I wanted lemonade and was thinking about driving across town to Chickfila, but I found out that Sonic’s lemonade is pretty good.

Happy Sunday!

It was 70 degrees and muggy at the park this morning.
We were the only ones there until the man with the dobie showed up. He went on the small side though.
I shouldn’t laugh, but I kind of laugh because so many people bring their dogs to the park and expect to have a nice walk down the ramp from the parking lot, make their dogs sit before crossing the path to the gate. Then another sit at the gate, a nice sit inside the cage while they remove the leash, a dog who sits quietly while they open the second gate, and only enters the park when they give the release command.
Yeah, that works. LOL

Instead, you have lunging dogs, dragging their owners the entire way down the ramp, across the path, and to the gate. The owners who decide to come down the grassy hill instead of the ramp usually end up on their asses.
The whole time the owners are yelling SIT! SIT! WAIT! STOP THAT! SIT! SIT! WAIT! DAMNIT! STOP!

Of course, dogs can be trained to walk nicely, sit, and wait.
The dog park just isn’t the place to do it, train them in a quiet place first and work up to the park. Still be prepared, because even the best trained dogs can get a little wild when they get to the park.

On a more serious note, today a woman was walking her very large, very young, very out of control puppy past the park and she ended up being pulled down and dragged to the fence. I felt bad because my dogs were standing at the fence, they weren’t barking or anything, just watching, but maybe if they hadn’t been there, her dog wouldn’t have been so excited.
Then again, I simply don’t understand why people walk their dogs on the path that goes past the front and down one side of the dog park. If I were walking a strong dog that I know is going to get excited, I would avoid that path. I would avoid it anyway. There are lots of paths through the park, all of them have benches and litter stations.
I hope the poor woman is okay. I called my son to help her get up, but she was up and headed for her car before he could get there.

In exciting? news, we put in an offer for the house. We aren’t the only offer though. The seller is supposed to make a decision this morning. Weird how the house has been on the market for over 80 days, and then a bunch of offers come in on one weekend.

My son is… weird. He doesn’t want to move, but he signed the contract, and now is talking about the logistics of getting everything moved. He’s making a plan. But he still doesn’t want to move.

When we went to look at the house on Friday, we took the dogs with us. It was cool enough for them to wait in the truck, but the owner said to bring them in. She has two chihuahuas, that she crated. The GR acted like they were home; Echo explored a bit. I hadn’t noticed before that there is a doggie door and my son got Echo and Misiu to use it.
Maybe it was a good thing I took them. They were impressed with how nice and well behaved the dogs are.

I guess I’ll hear something in a few hours.
I told my realtor I am not getting into a price war, if they accept a different offer, then I’ll keep looking.
In the meantime, I am already shopping for a washer/dryer, pricing awnings and riding mowers, and looking at different ways to add a shower to a soaker tub.

I never cared about having a deck, but now that I have had one for 9 years, I am going to miss it.

Yesterday we got a postcard with a coupon for adult-use cannabis. My son handed it to me and said this is for you. I flipped it over and saw the name, and said, no, actually this is for you. LOL
He was not amused.
This kid has had exactly one sip of beer in his life, when he was a kid and he didn’t like it. He has had one bourbon ball in his life. My grandmother’s recipe. That is it, no cigarettes, no alcohol, no drugs stronger than Aleve or aspirin.
I often wonder where I went wrong.
We can get 20% off in August.

Those are very pretty rocks and bowls, JtC
I like rocks and bowls; I just don’t collect them because collections have to be cleaned and dusted.
I’m glad you made it home safely, and I hope you do get to see the eclipse with your mom. Cats are weird. Adam is not a cuddly cat, and he never sleeps in bed with me, but when I got home from the hospital last year, he slept at the foot of my bed with me every night for over a week.
I don’t know if he missed me, or was concerned because I was still ill, or maybe both.

What a horrible experience, Yanks.

Interruptions and a nap!

I was getting a bit worried that I hadn’t heard from the realtor. I thought the seller was meeting up with her realtor at 10am. I thought I should have heard something by noon.
Then I saw on FB that the realtor’s granddaughter got baptized this morning, so I figured I wouldn’t be hearing from her anytime soon. I saw that the status of the house had changed to 'Under Contract", and figured I didn’t get it and went looking online to see what else was available.

I found a house I like in Hancock, but that is a half hour commute each way for my son and I’m thinking, no, that’s a little farther out than I want to be,
When my realtor finally called… and
the seller accepted our contract and
WE ARE BUYING A NEW HOUSE!

Of course, I won’t relax until I have the key in my hand, anything could go wrong.

I am going to miss this house. There are things I love about it. I’m already feeling sad about leaving it.

Then I saw on FB that my Aunt G turned 90 today. She is really my mother’s cousin but I called her Aunt because she is older than my mother. Then I saw that GUncle D turned 90 as well. G Uncle D is married to G Aunt ML, who also turned 90 a few weeks ago. G Aunt ML is G’s aunt
Aunt G and her late husband Uncle B introduced my parents to each other.

Pilot, your job makes my head spin

FCM congrats on 50-year anniversary, and Happy Ducking!

You sure know how to sloth it up, Swampy

Sounds like Spot keeps you busy, Doggio.
He is a cutie!
Adam is fairly well behaved for a cat. He annoys the hell out of me with the whole let me in the back door so I can walk through the house and go out the front door, and then walk round back bullshit.
I worry about moving him. I hope he doesn’t try to come back here.
I’m a little worried about coyotes at the new place. The seller told me they have never seen any around, and that a lot of the neighbors have outdoor cats.

Happy Vacationing Doggio and Taters.

I know I am missing responses, but the GR have the zoomies and I am going crazy.

Congrats on the new house sari!

Congrats!!!

Evening all. Talked to brother and booked my return tickets from LA in November so I can make Thanksgiving. Still some things to work out, but it should go fine. OtherwIse a quiet night and between the 5am wakeup and the exercise I’ll probably head off to bed early. At least the rain cooled us down some, 74F right now and may make it to the 60’s later, so AC off and windows open tonight.

Sari, happy for you and your new house. I hope the paperwork and moving doesn’t add more stress to an already complicated life, but you know what you can handle better than any of us, so have at it!!

I could get along OK with Sah-son, sounds a lot like me in terms of drinking, drugging and smoking…I do agree, he does have to develop some bad habit, though…

Glad the woman at the park is (hopefully) OK, and had a good laugh at the people who think their dogs are ‘trained’…

Pilot, long days indeed.

FCM, great pics and stay cool!

OK, need to do my reading and head off to bed. Catch y’all on the next MMP.

@Sahirrnee

:confetti_ball::champagne::clinking_glasses::tada::house:Mazel tov!:house:on the new house! :house::confetti_ball::champagne::tada:

I cleaned, I napped. Certain felines were zonked out for much of the afternoon due to over zoomie-ness. Having a Daiquiri.(yeah, I bought a 144 pack of cocktail umbrellas off of da Jungle).

Just don’t bite my goatee when I give you banana, and you’ll be fine.

But you can tell her House has much honor

OMFG YAY!

Sounds like we need to lock Spot and the GR in a room for a couple of hours.
.

Sweet! I could only afford a used house.

Ya gots to remember that Spot is much smarter than GG. I once had a smart cat who figured out that the open suitcase on the bed meant that one or both of his slaves were planning on being gone forever or at least overnight, and would wait until the suitcase was packed, then pee all over everything. Despite liking Mom and enjoying having a spare slave and lap around, he never peed in her suitcase when she was leaving.

I spent about a year eating Purina Monkey Chow just because I was so sick of the whole “what am I going to eat now” thing. It was super boring, but really easy.

Invite me over!!!

You are amazing!!! I never get my entire list completed the same day because of all of the axillary shit the list causes.

Just reading about what happened worried me, I’m so happy you were wearing proper protective gear, it is so easy to just forget.

When we first got laminate floors, one of ours learned how to burn out and skid/slide around corners. She always looked like she was going to brain herself on the walls, but she knew what she was doing and she was having fun!

I gots a cute pic too.

George just lurves his sissy and can’t sleep without at least a paw on her.

Once she has done what she has to with the information, what is stopping you from pulling everything out of that account and putting it somewhere else?

Ameritrade accounts are pretty easy to navigate and they have really helpful people who are more than willing to explain everything. If you are going to use them for investing in the stock market, do be aware that there are fees involved. I’ve been pretty happy with how they have grown my money and how they have responded to my questions, though. I hope you like them too.

Sonic’s lemonade is almost as good as what I make at home. I used to treat myself to a large one once a week back when I was working.

He’s resigned to moving. Doesn’t mean he has to like it, but he knows it is going to happen and he wants to do it as easy as possible. Here’s hoping that he will be happier once things are unpacked.

That’s why we pay a housekeeper, LOL!

congrats on the new house!!!

Now that I’ve had time to sleep in my comfy bed, I’ve been out to see what sort of damage hubs did while I was gone. I’ve lost two plants due to lack of water and he didn’t put the bamboo blinds back up on the deck like he promised he would. I think the firecracker plant might come back, but the carnations are gone for good.

Castrating the pomegranate didn’t work because other people out this way also grow them and we have a very popular bee watering area that is surrounded by lavender plants. I’ve picked off half a dozen fruits, I’m not going to let it have more than three fruits this year, it’s too young.

Hubs ruined his rotator cuffs (yes, both arms) and depends on his muscles to hold his arms in place near the shoulder joints. Yes, this can be surgically fixed and several of his relatives have had the surgery and say that it was easy and improved their quality of life immensely.

Hubs thinks that doctors are quacks who are just out for the money and can’t lift his arms over his shoulders or pick up more than 20 lbs without a whole lot of pain. He brought the ladder up on the porch and tried to re-hang the blinds but only managed one after hurting himself and damaging a wood table. He went inside and I hung the other one and asked him to put the ladder away. His feelings got hurt because he’s a dumbass who would rather hurt his body than admit that maybe he isn’t able to do the things he could do 10 years ago.

I just miscounted a bit of needlework and said bad words while picking it out. VBC brought me a sock monkey to help me feel better. Sometimes she can be a Very Good Cat. Now I have to pick all of her hairs off my needlework before restarting, but the cuddle session gave me time to recount and figure out where I went wrong.

Pilot, besides being cute and cuddly, cats have no function in human society and they have never had a use except for being decorative and entertaining. Cats weren’t domesticated, they moved in because humans made tasty garbage, not because they wanted to eat the rodents in the grain. Humans didn’t need cats to kill the rats, by that time, they had bred rat terriers for that.

Humans invited cats into their homes because cats are beautiful and entertaining. If it wasn’t for the whole litter box issue, the human race would have died off long ago because taking care of a cat is much easier than taking care of a child, LOL!!!

Congrats, sari Hope the closing isn’t too much of a hastle.

Yeah, that boy can blow up a litterbox like nobody’s business.

Awwwwww.

Oh, get a room, you two!

Why would you go back if you weren’t satisfied the last time?

You’re my kind of people.

Ferrealz? Do you put it in a bowl with milk, like cereal, or just crunch it dry straight outta the bag?

That’s awesome - taught herself Tokyo Drift moves.

I’m convinced the main reason cats were “domesticated” was because they purr.

Early humans must have been like, “WTF is this creature in our hut?”
“Dunno, it just kinda moved in.”
“Well, get rid of it!”
“Yabbut … check out what happens when you scritch its little chin!”
“… awwww.”
