That’s a little different than having two opened bottles in the same door shelf, LOL!
I’m usually pretty good about keeping track of what’s where but Hubs has been in charge of the kitchen for the last 14 weeks and I need to take it back.
So, about the trees…
We have known that they were in danger for a few months, and have been pushing back, but we only learned about the Nov. 1 deadline two days ago.
Back before the 1900’s American Chestnuts covered the eastern part of the US and were used for wood and food by humans and wildlife alike. They were a pretty important part of the environment tbh.
Humans carelessly introduced a fungus that covered the mature trees and killed them, so instead of doing anything constructive about it…they just cut them all down so they could at least use the wood.
Some of the rootstock survived, a few of trunks sprouted and some of those sprouts didn’t die at once. Conservation efforts included cloning the sprouts and breeding for resistance. The grove we are upset about are saplings and trees grown from those cuttings. They are pretty resistant to the fungus and are 100% American Chestnuts.
Other conservation efforts include cross breeding with Chinese Chestnuts (90% American to 10% Chinese seems fairly viable) and protecting individual trees and groves where they are found.
I don’t go deep into the forest, and spend my nature time on the edges. I don’t know how to safely get around back there and would probably get lost and die of respiratory distress after using poison oak to make a rescue fire.
Harry was born and raised in the forest, he spent his adult life studying and protecting it. Harry has twice warned me to not try to find the trees, he says its dangerous out there and he wouldn’t go alone now.
I’m not going to say that humans have anything to do with the danger, but will mention that a lot of folks still do subsistence hunting and trapping, plus the military was a popular way to get out of the mines. Its assumed here that any male over thirty was in the military, the only question was “which branch”.
So, I’m going to just leave that there and move on.
So, yesterday was not the best. I got to the dispensary and learned that my MMJ card expired last week. Damnit! I didn’t get an email because they had my old addy so now I have to deal with that again. Plus it is the weekend and I can’t complete the application because I need help changing my email address - they want to send something to my old address for verification and I don’t have access to it anymore.
I’ve got vape carts and infused drinks, but I wants my flower, dangit!!!
Our fav mexican place isn’t fav anymore, the food isn’t nearly as good with cooks that weren’t raised on it.
The yarn shop was just what I would imagine a knitter would dream of and while I was able to find wool in the gauge I wanted, it was all colored and I need ecru. The owner said he would ask his suppliers if any were willing to do a small batch for me, but they all use natural dyes and lots of color.
So now I’m sitting in my room waiting for the rain and feeling very directionless. I can’t work on the permits, I can’t work on my MMJ card, I still can’t pull weeds and even if I could, I don’t like playing in the mud anymore.
It’s so nice to hear that your job actually got food that you could eat this time! Your last job wasn’t as nice about it as they could have been.
The Sun will burn out first, its time for the French solution now.
It must be nice to be such a big fish in your small pond!!! How nice was that?

You can get the rolled up newspaper too yanno!
So I think I’m going to go off and do things for a while, I’ll check back laters. Stay dry and have a great day.
