(Old) Summarize your work in the MMP

I miss Bo-hongles from my days in the south. The best we’ve got up here is Krispy Krunchy chicken, which, while pretty ok, is sold out of a seedy gas station.

cat glove You’ve reminded me that I need to go visit the cider mill. The name always cracked me up. Sounded like that old Gwen Stefani song “Hollenbeck’s girl.” Maybe we’ll go tomorrow after dog play date with boss’s dog. Maybe not, it is almost an hour drive from home. This smokeless solo stove sounds interesting…indoor or outdoor?

Was a lovely day here in upstate NY. Got back yard/side yard mowage completed today. No doggie escapes, after some hole patching. She is still not to be trusted, despite tons of being underfoot all day. You know, following from in front.

I’m extremely partial to their coffee, but I don’t know that I’ve ever had their pistachio. Or seen it, for that matter.

{ one moment plz, updating grocery list }

I have a new minor side quest! :crossed_swords:

Someone’s got a fan club!

WHAT?!?! This exists and I’m just now learning of it?

… sometimes I weep for what the world has become. Other times, I learn there is still good in this world.

{ updates list again }

That woman needs hobbies.

I’m proud of them. They really scared the beejebus out of Indiana. We were in the lead for 3 1/2 quarters. Can’t remember when last it wasn’t so bad losing a game.

Plus swampy’s dawgs won their game. I watched the last quarter of that game too and whooped and hollered in solidarity with you. *Go Dawgs!!

She seemed to really enjoy being part of a neighborly watch party and likes the bar. We’ll probably go back next Saturday when we play yet another highly ranked team. Thank you for cheering us on from afar.

I miss Bojangles too.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and sunny. This counts as a Fall day in these parts. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I get to plop in a pew. Since doggio has caused a gnawin’ and a cravin’, we shall get fried chikin from Bojangle’s for today’s main need to feed. I also have my group at three p.m.

My DAWGS beat the Alabammy Pachyderms by the score of 20-17. WOOF!WOOF!WOOF! I admit I qualify for extra speshul double seekret confession today. I had lots of not nice things to say durin’ the game.

red glad maintenance was so responsive and even replaced both smoke detectors.

doggio I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for Bojangles now. I foresee it as our Sunday repast.

Cat_Glove glad you had such a nice day with daughter and DG. The dinner sounds tres nummy! The NC woman really needs to find a hobby IMO.

VanGo I’ve had some pretty good fried chikin from seedy gas stations in my day. Glad you had a day of no Ms. Peach escapes.

BBBoo thanks for the support. Your extra whoopin’ and hollerin’ is what made the difference. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! Glad your friend from Ukraine enjoyed the watch party and the bar.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

My Ducks were… not so hot.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. The up part was briefly delayed, as 16 pounds of Small Egyptian God planted themselves on my chest and wanted earwax and snuggles. The usual morning cleaning and afternoon sloth and sports are on tap for today. It’s currently 70 degrees Ferret Height(21.111 Centipedes) and cloudy. Isaias is scheduled to rain on my parade today.

But the best 'que is sold out of a seedy cinder block shack.

Take that, other chicken chain!

Neither was the Wolfpack. At least Incarnate Word lost.

Good morning everyone. We are getting the last of the storm, and the rain is starting to taper off. We’ve gotten over an inch of magical sky water so far and are hoping for another by the end of the day. The river is rising, but not near the banks yet so all is good on that front.

Back when we lived in the desert and worried about water every day, I took 5-7 minute showers. Now they last about ten minutes. I spent a lot more time in the shower when I was doing PT because I needed the hot water pounding on my shoulder after a torture session.

Yanno…I haven’t had a life for most of mine and I’ve never been so bored that I felt the need to brood over someone taking a longer shower than I think they needed. Wow, that’s some kind of nutz IMO.

So, I don’t know that much about dogs, but couldn’t you put hobbles on her or something? She’d still be able to get around, but running wouldn’t happen.

:rolled_up_newspaper: :rolled_up_newspaper:

That works well for a lot of things

I stopped watching TV during the “all war, all the time” 911 reactions. We do have one, it is in the living room and I think it is plugged in. Or maybe I unplugged it, I don’t like to leave “instant on” devices plugged in when not in use.

Back. It isn’t plugged in.

So yesterday I thought I would like to stitch for a while and forgot to set my timer. My shoulder is sure telling me about it today which sucks. Today is a perfect day to sit by a window and stitch while watching the water. I might be able to get a little in later, I’m not sure.

Cool, there are some Starlings in front of the french doors. The fuzzbutts are fully engaged, so now is a good time to change the sheets. Back later, have a great day everyone.

Plus there’s the water bill to consider. OK, we’re on a well, but still, I hate waste in all its forms.

I guess I should have mentioned that the time was from entering to leaving the bath chamber, so in included shedding robe, actual shower, drying off, deodorizing pits/moisturizing face/combing hair, and re-donning robe. Actual time in the water was probably 5-7 minutes. I didn’t consider it to be a particularly speedy process.

I slept with Mel again last night. Woke to rain and 60 Ferrets. It’s been raining some time and is forecast to continue on and off into tomorrow morning. I foresee studio time today and definitely no garden time. I’d have stayed in bed longer but I hate for Otis to be crated past 8 and FCD needs all the sleep he can get, so I do dog duty in the morning, which consists of freeing the canine and opening his dog door. FCD preps his food the night before.

Otis seems happy to be home, but I bet he misses his kennel buds. (He’s the one with the scraggly beard.) They posted pics of all the dogs every day, and he was obviously having a good time in the big dog yard. Now he just has us, poor pup…

When I was getting out his flea and heartworm meds, I rediscovered the cordless critter shaver thingie. So last night, FCD and I had a go at Ziva’s mats. The shaver barely hums and with her deafness, she wasn’t scared by the sound. I did a lot of skritching while FCD did his best on one of the clumps. Her right side looks raggedy in the back, but most of the mat is gone. We’ll have a go at the left side tonight. And once we de-mat her, I’ll do my best to stay on top of keeping her brushed. If I ever decide to get a cat again (which is highly unlikely) it will be a short hair.

And so begins a soggy day in southern Merrylande. Happy Sunday!

Good morning! We had a good time at the show last night. Getting there and home… not so much. The drive to the Ryman was just a reminder of how much we hate downtown Nashville.

We had a good conversation on the way home last night. She talked about how much she likes her counselor. She was telling me about a dark joke she had made, which her counselor appreciated, when she mentioned that her counselor could see the love between us.

She also pointed out that my physical changes are progressing pretty quickly, and I’d probably start coming up with a social transition plan.

Anyhow. The coffee just beeped.

Mmmm… Coffee…

My leg cramps woke me rudely about an hour and a half early. So I am grumpy about that. I’m also dreading the HOA’s chili party and business meeting at 1:00 pm. I am socially awkward, and I’ve been imagining myself trying to make polite conversation with strangers while wanting to run away.

I just now told my wife I can’t do it. I said, “I’m sick. I can’t help it.” She told me she thinks I’m not as socially awkward as I think I am. I said, “That’s nice,” and I walked away.

I haven’t timed my showers. However, I turn off the water for part of it. We don’t live in a water-shortage area. We have a small shower stall, and there’s not enough room to soap and scrub my torso without the spray-head interfering.

Hey, hey, it’s Pumpkin Spice season. So far, I’ve had PS Frosted Mini-Wheats for breakfast, and Mrs. Nott says she’s going to put PS coffee into the flavored-coffee bin. Last year, I saw a sign at an oil-change place claiming, “Yes, we have PS motor oil.” What’s next, PS sushi?

There’s a sparkling wine made just for consoling Cold Ducks. That’s pretty special. Most teams don’t have such a brand.

VanGogh The solo stove is used outdoors. When my daughter told me about it last year, I was skeptical but seeing it in action, it really is smokeless. It has an inner ring with holes that draws the flames in and back out to the middle. Don’t know why it works, it just does. If it’s a nice day there in New England, I certainly would take the drive and enjoy all the colors of nature and perhaps some fauna that you’re sure to see. Although, is the cider mill open during the week? Being a Sunday, it likely will be packed, perhaps a day this week when you’re off and it’s open and there’s nice weather might be better.

Is there a dog park in the near vicinity that you or rather FCD can take him to where he can make friends and run and play fight? Speaking of dog parks, whatever happened to the lady from Merryland with the son who didn’t drive and took her dogs to a dog park? Anyone know?

Well, I have concerns, kinda scared tbh, Hubs was having chills last night. He put on about 3 layers of clothes to go to bed. Then during the night he got hotter and hotter and had to take off layers, one at a time. Around 6am, he told me he thinks he’s sick. I had him take his temp. I had to read the thermometer because he left his glasses at daughter’s last night. 99.5 so not too much of a fever.

I’m getting ready to leave for mass, need to take the curlers out of my hair. I’m lectoring this morning. Then our St Vincent de Paul Society is having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. I made chocolate chip cookie brownie bars last night. I said I’d come in at noon to help set up and sell tickets from 1-2 as that’s when daughter and DG are coming.

Enjoy your day. :maple_leaf:

Good morning.

It’s 39F, dark, and mostly clear outside. It’ll be sunny by late morning, with a daytime high of 62F. I heard some rain falling late last night, and it was 37F a couple of hours ago.

My son and Zeus drove up Friday evening, so we’ve been hanging out with them. My son is designing a computer game and wanted to give my husband the opportunity to play it and provide input. B has really put quite a lot of work and time into this, and it’s an ongoing evolution. B and my husband had a lot of fun this weekend, and Zeus has been very happy to be with the rest of the “pack.”

I haven’t been able to use my computer since Friday because my son had his plugged in, which is fine. However, late Friday night, we learned that my computer needed a new motherboard battery because we got the dreaded BitLocker recovery notification. It was easy to fix, and my son did that yesterday.

Cat Glove, I hope your husband is feeling better soon.

Knotty, I am basically shy and uncomfortable around people. I always feel like the odd man out. My former workmates were surprised to discover this because I put on a good front, especially when I had to speak to a group. It was very difficult for me, and I was always exhausted afterward.

My hair is thick, and it’s past my shoulders in length now. It always takes forever for stuff to rinse out. As a result, drying and styling my hair take longer, especially drying. I’ve noticed I can’t get ready as quickly as I used to, but I’m out of practice. I don’t have to rush anymore, so I’ve lost speed. This also increases shower/bathroom time.

I have to admit that I watch a lot of TV. I find I’m more often frustrated by what’s available to watch, so I’ve been on my tablet more than watching TV. I do have my trash TV days, and I look forward to some shows (The Great British Baking Show). But now, even series or movies I’ve marked as interesting in the upcoming queue often turn out to be disappointing. When a good series does pop up and it’s on Netflix, I end up binge-watching it. I still prefer most non-US shows or movies to American offerings.

Well, I suppose I had better finish tidying the kitchen. The pups have all had breakfast and have wandered off to finish their morning nap with my son or husband. So, it’s extra quiet down here this morning, and I’m enjoying it.

Please take care of yourselves.

Love the two having a friendly tug’o’war!

The atheist in me giggled.

At work, our empty boxes are stacked on a rather high-up shelf, and sometimes the stacks get a bit higgledy-piggledy. The brooms are conveniently stored a coupla feet away …

May I ask why? (I learn all kinds of “stuff I shoulda known years/decades ago” from random minor little comments like this sometimes.)

I barely watch my TV anymore, is why I’m curious. And not in that “hipper than thou” sort of way, I just find Dopers to be more educational and entertaining.

I’ve had forgotten leftovers nearly become sentient, but not to the point of audible communication.

Afternoon.

Another sunny day. The wind’s dropped, so it’s warm in the sun- it feels a lot warmer than the 12C the weather guessers claim. Supplies have been obtained from the local shop, now not sure what to do with the remaining day. I still need to do some defilthifying of the place, but *whines* I don’t wannnt to…

I also do need to go play in the mud- almost literally, I’m moving soil around to try level stuff off- but that also does feel like irk if I do much of it. I plan to go in to my former irk tomorrow to clear more stuff away, unless my new handrail for the stairs is being delivered, as they haven’t given me a firm date for that yet. Maybe I’ll just have a cup of tea or something and sit in the sun for a bit, make the most of it.

Happy National Coming Out Day to those who recently have or are about to…and “it’s ok if you need more time” to those who aren’t ready yet. :people_hugging: :rainbow_flag:

Yesterday afternoon with WifeBFF was very nice, as anticipated. She did, in fact, need to vent a little about HusbandBFF…heh. She also made a fresh batch of her chocolate chip cookies, which came out of the oven shortly after I got there! I had two during my visit, and was sent home with some. Her oldest friend’s daughter will be visiting with her today (HusbandBFF won’t get home until around midnight), and she made the cookies for both of us. They are definitely her love language. :cookie:

Today is rainy and dark and chilly and I don’t wanna go anywhere, but I know that I’ll be glad to be at my “niece’s” baby shower once I’m there. On the bright side, I’d assumed it was being held at my friend’s home, which is 54 miles away, but I looked more closely at the invitation last night and discovered that it’s actually being held at a restaurant that’s only 45 miles away. I’m dreading the drive a little less now, plus a restaurant thing is better than a house thing because it’s likely to be shorter. I’ll want to leave around noon, which gives me a couple more hours to putz around.

I saw her once, in the spring of 1994. I was a fan until her 2001 arrest, when she was charged with three counts of performing lewd and lascivious acts on a 12-year-old girl and felony child endangerment involving her foster children.[1]

Just one of the reasons why I use a 2-in-1. [Pauses while pearls are clutched/fainting couches are collapsed upon.] I know they’re generally sneered at, but (a) they save time and (b) I don’t like how my very fine hair feels or looks after using a separate conditioner.

To each their own! Not everyone would enjoy building Lego for hours, either. I’m always multitasking when the TV is on, but it’s still a primary form of entertainment for me.

She sounds like a keeper.

(And I don’t mean an English football goalie!)

I have a small one of those: I bought it almost 2 years ago, as a possible Christmas gift for WifeBFF. Luckily I realized in time that she wouldn’t ever use it, but I hung onto it thinking that I might use it myself – on my old house’s concrete patio – the following spring. I never took it out of the box. I tried to sell it before I moved, but got no takers. Even though I know the flame is safe and contained, I don’t think I could bring myself to use it on a wood deck (assuming mine ever gets fixed). Hmm, this might be a good time of year to try to sell it again!

That’s kind of awesome.

  1. She pleaded no contest to one count of felony child endangerment and a misdemeanor count of inflicting injury upon a child; in exchange, prosecutors dropped the “lewd acts” charges. Among other penalties, she was barred from ever taking in foster children again. ↩︎

I came out over 50 years ago, way before things like Coming Out Day. The cultural progress still makes me happy.

Went for a 9 km (5.6 miles) walk, ate soup and cherry cheese pie from yesterday and got through the stack of paper on the table. Then I sorted through my 3 dresser drawers and created some semblance of order in there, plus decided to put some items in a box on the shelf in the wardrobe for the winter.. Am now delaying working on the wardrobe itself, which I should do today, as the temperatures are slowly dropping.

I walk out of our ensuite bathroom (which has a tub, no shower), go down the hall to the bathroom with the shower, turn on the light and fan, go to the kitchen and turn on the light and espresso machine, tilt open the kitchen window, plug in my phone, return to the shower, take shower, (I also turn off the water during my shower), dry off, and then go back to the bedroom in 15 minutes. The only shaving I do in the shower is underarms.

When I first met my husband, he took rather long showers, and he used the snooze button on his alarm. He’s changed a bit over the years.

If I take more than 15 minutes, hubby gets in the shower later that expected, breakfast is delayed, and then going out the door gets hectic. Swiss trains tend to be on time (within 3 minutes), so no dilly-dallying around.

That and I just like shouting “Go dawgs!!!. Cussing I save for the Huskers and the KC Chiefs. In honor of our metal mouse I don’t holler at the refs.

Everyone needs friends like that!

Perfectly good reason to use a product. If it works for you, then the sneering pearl-clutchers can go … do things.

It’s taking longer than we thought.

Yeah, y’all are kinda known for that.
