(Old) Summarize your work in the MMP

Welcome back Lilly, I’m glad you had a great time.

I don’t have a life, so not much to report for three weeks time:

  1. I’m still protesting at the capital every Sunday.
  2. I had a new wimple made because my old one sags in the humidity.
  3. I thought I was going to die of an Oregon Trail disease, but am now starting to think that isn’t the case.
  4. I filled out and submitted 78 parade permits and will start following up on Wednesday. If I’m not ded, that is.
  5. I’ve sent postcards to three grade school classes in three different states. I wanna help raise the next generation right so I’ve stocked up on Mothman and Flatwoods monster postcards, this happens every year.

And the real sad news is about Hub’s cousin-in-law. He’s no longer able to live on his own so his daughter is having him move to a memory care facility about four miles from her home in GA. They plan to allow family to take whatever things they want, then an estate sale and then sell the house and close that chapter of the family history.

I suspect they are going to want me to handle the house sale and I really do not want to do it. Ronald built that house by hand back in the 1970’s and every nail has a story. Its going to be a lose-lose situation because no matter what I do, someone is going to be upset.

I’m now a firearms background investigator, having ditched my previous gig because of the toxicity. I’m also trying to spin up a mobile notary business. Between the need to earn a living and the rest of the stuff I do, I’m not horribly busy but I’m busy enough.

Good morning all. Late to the party this week, slept in until nearly 8:30am, then had to fill out some information for my Dr. appointment on Wednesday, and other usual (spider solitaire and webcomics) before doing the shop and sammich run so just getting here. Another nice day, high of 82F and I’m letting the overhead fan keep me cool rather than the HVAC. No soccer today, it is Fall Break and lots of kids (and parents) are out of town, so should be a quiet week.

Last 3 weeks, eh? Most work was either at the gym, on the treadmill or stationary bikes, then 3 nights a week coaching soccer and most of Saturday coaching and refereeing it. Also got the lawn mowed, the dishes done, and the laundry washed/dried/put away. And lots of time internettin’.

Lily, sounds like a lovely walk/bus/train trip, never done something quite like that, but did get to see Lisbon and Barcelona earlier this year and did a fair amount of walking there.

Boo fae, you have a…liberal…definition of what you find fun…

swampy, no rain here until the weekend (of course) but at least the Weather Wizards are predicting we won’t see 90F again. We’ll see.

FCM, safe travels.

Mollie, hope the itch stays under control with the meds.

JohnT, sounds like a fairly active time was had. And a trip to Ukraine is…interesting.

JtC, for someone that was feeling poorly as you were for a time, that is a heck of a lot accomplished. And duck the house sale if you can, I concur that nothing good (for you) can come of it.

Rockin’, that’s a rather interesting career(s). Hope they both work out for you.

And it’s late in the morning and things still must be done (Tradition!). Take care all and have a good week.

Am in the confusing stage between submitting the pee aich dee thesis and waiting for a viva date.

I actually went in today, to start clearing out my lab bench, but didn’t get much done except gossip with random people. I did get some tidying done, but I’ll need to drop in again in a couple of days to do the rest I think.

Sort of a busy day, between all the first of the month futures going out, and doing all the address corrections piled in front of The Senior Shouting Officer’s office(Hey Montressor, it works better if she’s in there before tryign to wall her up). I thought I’d be out early, but I had to help the HazMat guy, since he got locked out of ETT and the Exception Resolution programs. After work I gassed up carmen, and did my Aldi run. I’ve had my dry, flavorless bits(and an Asiago bagel with cream cheese), so naptime!

Well, there’s Cathedrals and relics(There are something like 18 Fingers of St. James. Dude must have been popular with the ladies back in the day.), and you can’t swing a stick in Spain and France without hitting some spot where the BVD popped up to chat with a peasant or 3.

You have quite the life. Feeling better today, though?

Worked, cooked, gardened, cleaned, start a gym membership (13 months for the price of 12), baked.

Speaking of baking, tonight I baked the cookie dough I mixed yesterday. Hubby cleared the kitchen and now it’s full of drying pans again.

For one of the recipes I made yesterday I had to zest some lemons, and didn’t feel like freezing the lemon juice. So tonight I mixed it with cane sugar syrup and tequila. Oh, and I bought a book about Tequila. Need to study.

At the gym (welcome to the club, Dicey) and since I plan to get dinner tonight at 5 Guys need to sweat a lot of calories this afternoon. Glad I’m checking my weight before then, probably would not be happy weighting myself after those 5 guys fries.

More later when I get home.

I’m still around and reading. Posting time is too often interrupted with Family Stuff, which is the whole purpose of my visit to my folks, so I’m keeping my eye on that ball instead of the wonderful Mumpers for a few more days until I return home and can do you all justice.

Lily, it’s a joy to see you posting again! Thanks for starting the MMP this week. So glad you enjoyed this segment of the Camino but wish you had enjoyed it more!

In answer to your question, since September 16th:

Mostly trip prep, including flu and COVID vax, getting a propane fill, having the flue cleaned in my wood burner, paying bills, getting Ollie the Dachshund prepped for his stay at the kennel (nail trim, bath, teeth brushing, ear cleaning), mixing his special gruel for meals, packing, traveling, now visiting with Parental Units. That’s about it till I get home later this week.

JtC, I’m so sorry you’re poorly! I hope you feel better very soon! I’m astonished how much work you’ve managed to accomplish while sick. You’re amazing.

< chortle > I’ve been enjoying your Cask of Amontillado references.

Happy baking, dicey! Your freezer sounds like quite the wellspring of goodness! And please report back on all the wonderful things one can do with tequila!

Good luck with calorie control, metal mouse! Enjoy your Five Guys whatever the scale says.

That’s enough for now. More when I return home.

PSA: It’s Banned Books Week. :books: [1]

Welcome back, lily! :globe_showing_europe_africa:

I only put in 5.5 hours of work today: I logged in before 8am, but took three hours off to drive to the county government center and attend two hours of election officer training. It was optional, and specifically for those of us who will be dealing with provisional ballots. I’ve been an election officer for six years and a provisional specialist for three years (ever since they started offering that position; when same-day registration became available in Virginia), and there was nothing new since last year, so I probably could have skipped it…but, I always find that a refresher doesn’t hurt. Especially since I didn’t work the primaries this summer. It was kind of nice to get my head back in that game, and reinforce what I thought I knew. I’m ready for November 3. :ballot_box: I just wish I’d been aware that today is the deadline for county residents to pay their property taxes: parking at the government center was even more of a nightmare than usual! I got very lucky and didn’t have to drive around much at all, but a few of my fellow election officers were 10-15 minutes late because they’d been circling the lots trying to park. I would have picked a different training date, but it worked out.

And, when I got home there was a box from Lego on my doorstep: Wallace & Gromit finally arrived! :two_hearts: I feel the need to give some props to my mail carrier: UPS usually delivers Lego but there had been some kind of issue so they handed the last mile off to the USPS, and when my mailperson put the box on my step they also delivered a magazine there (a big one inside a plastic “jacket”; it comes from the UK every month). Normally they fold it and put it in my mailbox: the folding is never a problem, but it was kinda nice to get a flat magazine for a change!

I’m looking forward to heading downstairs and building Lego for a while – and figuring out what to have for dinner – before moving to the TV room for the rest of the night: game 2 of the Yankees/Rays ALDS starts at 8pm. :baseball:

My bullet points since September 16:

  • Turned 55
  • Bought and built Lego
  • Worked

Those last two are pretty much my life these days.

Nifty! Are you finding there’s a lot of demand for your services? Also, are you an independent contractor or do you work for a manufacturer or a retailer or something?

I say that counts as being productive!

Glad you’re feeling a little better (even if you aren’t 100% sure you won’t die yet :joy:)!

  1. it started yesterday, but I wanted to wait until this week’s MMP ↩︎

These words don’t make sense to me. Down East is northern/eastern coastal Maine, we don’t have many pecans there. We do gots blueberries, though, if’n you still want pie.

Had to leave work early, my back is really barking. I’ve got a doc appointment scheduled for a week from tomorrow.

JtC If you got what I had, sorry. I lost 5lbs in 2 days. Took a while, like 2-3 weeks, but I’m back to what I pretend is normal now.

Howdy Y’all! In lookin’ at all the bullet points, well, some of us are actually busy doin’ stuff! Other of us (moi) are busy not doin’ stuff. Definitely a not doin’ stuff day today! I did manage to drag my neighbor’s and our trash biiiiiig cans all the way back up the the road to where they stay all week and get the mail. OK, I also made sup which was dang good if’n I do say so myself. Nappage, day drinkin’ and stoopid teevee took up the rest of the day. It’s rained pretty much all day and is rainin’ as I post.

I had it once about the same time as you did and this is round two. It truly bites. Ain’t nobody got time for this.

I am SO happy that you finally have health insurance, it sucked you couldn’t get treated for your Lyme disease because of the disaster that pretends to be 'merikan health care.

I don’t think Ida made it without our bidets!

Awwww! Thank you for your kind words, but I just make it sound like a lot, copy and paste is a good friend of mine!

I hope you are having a great time with your folks and that the trip home is easy and irritationless.

Sounds like my kind of lemonade, yum!

I am, thanks. I just hope I don’t relapse again. One of the thing my doctor mentioned was cameras up my butt and I’d really like to avoid that if at all possible.

My license is due for renewal the end of next month and I’m seriously thinking about not sending in my check.

I don’t make enough money flipping houses to pay taxes on, mostly I have my license to allow me to gate-crash ritzy open houses.

Speaking of checks, I was very surprised and gratified to see that almost all of the permits I was able to pay online (this is costing a few bucks, not my bucks and I am not being paid to do it) were either in process or were complete.

  • Retired
  • Sold another novel

Down Eastern North Carolina. It’s the region bound by I-95 to the west, I-40 to the north and east, and South Carolina to the south. It’s full of swamps, tobacco farms, Lake Waccamaw, and voter and insurance fraud.

We have arrived. Exhausted. More tomorrow.

Evening all. Probably exercised a bit too much at the gym, in expectation of the 5 Guys meal, but the scale said 202.4lbs so that is better. Dinner has been consumed (just love those 5 Guys fries) and am working hard not to consume anything else, but no odds if the ice cream will remain untouched tonight. Temperature is down to 72F so not a bad evening.

Bright Tree, enjoy the family for now, we’ll be here when you return.

Oopsie, hope November 3rd is a quiet one for you. Enjoy the Lego’s.

VanGo, hope the back stops barking.

Reality Check, that’s quite a twofer!! Conga-rats.

FCM, glad you made it, IIRC your close to Indianapolis, so that was a long push for one day.

And while composing this I polished off 1/3 of a pint of Butter Pecan, only 200 calories so still on the positive side for now. Take care and catch y’all tomorrow.

Oh, Wilmington. I lived there for a couple of years. Met Gonzo the muppet while working on a movie. Never heard it called Down East, but then there was a lot of talk I didn’t quite catch. Yankee ears and southern voices don’t always understand each other.

Up from naptime. Dinner is bacon cheeseburger with Bo seasoned fries, Old Bay corn, and an Old Fashioned.

Yes, you must perform many tests. Because, science!

“Cracking cheese, Gromit!”

Yeah, that would be a shitty situation.

Congrats to both!

I always thought of Down East as North of the Jacksonville/Morehead City line.

So just finished reading the remainder of Sunday’s posts and have 2 comments:

Obviously this speaks to how delicious your food is and what a good chef you are!

JtC so sorry to hear that you have been sick, I hope Doc was able to give you medication that actually works for you.

Today: since it was in the 40’s, maybe low 50’s by the time I walked to work, I wore merino wool tights under my pants, merino wool socks, an undershirt, then turtleneck long sleeve shirt and logo’d work shirt with a very thick sweatshirt on top. I was comfy.

Had to record 4 days of transactions, as well as answer some emails, but everything went smoothly today so I was out in 2.5 hrs. Walked home. Had banana on crunchy peanut butter and nutella covered toast. Sat in lazyboy to watch some tv and ended up falling asleep for an hour or so.

Hubs had leftover chicken enchilada dinner and I had a Hebrew Natl hotdog with mayo, green onions and tomato for dinner.

Lily the most significant that happened during the last 3 weeks was that our daughter asked for our blessing to marry her girlfriend. We also all went to Bark in the Park, I got henna’d during Coffee Week and had a lot of delicious beverages, and Hubs and I went to SeniorFest and won a prize for the Anniversary Waltz of 2 tickets to see the Nutcracker. (sorry for not bulletpointing, doggio gets a prize for his list)

Now back to post 3 so I can peruse what everyone’s been up to today.

Summarise my irk? Today it was very busy. One of the FSRs remarked that I had both lanes full in the drive-up. My manager called me from my teller station, presumably to ask me to help in the lobby; but she saw a car coming to drive-up. I wanted to sell $7,000 in hundreds to the vault, but it was too busy to happen. My cow-orker who ‘owns’ the vault did come and take $5,000 off of my hands. I’d kept $4,000 in bundles in the lower drawer, and another bundle and some loose 100s in the top drawer. Then people drove up wanting hundreds. I’ll have to buy some in the morning.

The Spousal Unit went to Bible study at 18:30, so she wasn’t home when I got home. She did give Goo her medicated gooshy food, and made a portion for the morning. I finished off the chile colorado I made a while ago, with that last ¼ fried jalapeño. from dinner last week. With shredded cheese on top. I’m stuffed like a demon.

Speaking of dinner, SWMBO says we should add the casino to our Date Night rotation.
