On the 3rd of November I’ll work clerking a local polling place from 7am to 8:30pm. Should be interesting one way or another. The last time I worked a MAGA got threatening because he wasn’t allowed to open carry his guns into the polling place. Kept screaming at us that he had a lot of guns in his truck and it was his right as a ‘Murican to bring them in. Then threatened 5 middle-aged women working the ballot box, after we’d checked his ID and recorded his name and address and he signed in. I hope he didn’t enjoy the visit he got from the police the next day.
This time I’m working my home precinct, in the Board of Public Health building rather than out on a gravel road in the county boonies. Faster police response I’m sure. I’m thinking of getting red and blue streaks (temporary) put in my white hair.
Ok. Pause in procrastination to post. Im fine and have gotten interested in a man from the church dinners. My friend gave him my number and said I was interested. He came and sat with me at dinner, we talked. He said he was getting an apt and "When I get settled in, Ill invite you over, sound good?
Seems he doesnt have a phone that gets internet so he showed up today at dinner. He said thats my apt there third window in. I was like show me. Me and this lady who lives in building sat there with him then she left. He talks a Lot. It got metaphysical when he starting telling me he can go back in time. Said he was a 5 schizophrenic, not sure what level that is. He wasnt lying. Schizophrenia was in the room with us. Finally he walked me home. I was disappointed he didnt try anything. My ex took 4 days to make a move. Yes, I have issues that I need to know Im desired, right away. He said hed be over to visit. Am hoping but liking wise doper comments. Hes 44.

I’m tired. I got a partial day at work tomorrow, then I’ve got 5 days off in a row. It was kind of funny hearing my coworkers try to figure out how to cover for me opening the museum each morning. I usually get it and have everything going in 45 minutes, for some reason it takes a team of them an hour to do the same. Looking forward to some down time. Might get FCM crazy and wash windows.

The nighttime sky here right now is lovely bits of clouds, with stars peeking out between each puffball. Attempts to get pictures were unsuccessful, but there is some quiet peace in one tiny corner of one tiny bit of Mitten State tonight.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/59f with a predicted high of 17c/63f and a chance of rain. Weather app says “The weather forecast for the next few hours is fucking unacceptable.” Oh, I don’t know, it’s lovely and cool outside, I didn’t need to wear a hoodie today.
swampy the hurricane also got a mention on my local news, mainly because the tail end of hurricanes usually make their way towards us as storms. He was a bit confused over what to call it though 
Mollie I am sure fries will solve the problem, but also ice cream for breakfast sounds like a good plan.

Yesterday was busy but productive, I managed to leave a little earlier than usual (technically I’m owed nearly 7hrs for extra time I’ve worked in the last 3 weeks) so I did have a little bit more time on my sofa before I had to get up and make dinner. I even got to bed before 10pm which was a bonus.
Today’s commute was not great, the Travel Gods know it’s Friday and they like to make a nuisance of themselves. But I got here, have had breakfast and a cup of tea. I also managed to do something yesterday that I have never done before in my entire life! I left my reading glasses at work! Didn’t realise until I was on the train from Big City Station and was momentarily concerned that I’d lost them completely. Fortunately I have a spare pair at home, and a pair with my previous prescription lenses in. What a daft thing to do.

However, I shall go take care of candle and other duties over to the church house this mornin’. I can do that and be back in da cave before the possible bad stuff starts. Another sunny-ish day up here; not warm, and it rained overnight, but nice blue skies.
I’m still wrestling that shrub, as it turned out to be tanglier than I thought, and progress is slow. It’s also partly slow cos I have a new resident robin that’s just shown up. For those unfamiliar, they’re unusually confident around humans in the UK, and often follow gardeners around, so they can pinch worms and stuff when dug up. This one is very nosy about what I’m up to, which is adorable, but does mean I have to be a bit careful what I’m doing so’s I don’t scare him as I’d like to make friends.
Good morning everyone, I don’t think the weather guessers know where WV is because we are getting flood warnings due to the hurricane. We are a days drive from the coast, the most we will see is more rain and we know about rain.
I am very mad today. They are going to build a data center on the grounds of one of the last American Chestnut groves. As far as I know, the trees are still alive today, but tomorrow isn’t guaranteed.
It’s Friday, and thanks for that. The Weather Channel says it’s 49F and cloudy. They predict a rise to 71F at about 4pm, and maybe/possibly rain at 7 or 8pm. Tree leaves are beginning to change colors.

The temp when I got up was 41F with the high expected to be 69F. Acceptable. Had to put on lightweight merino top and bottom so I could go out and fix the bird bath. The bath top was upside down on the grass so I wiped it out and filled it with fresh water. I had watched Mr. Robin bathing in it yesterday. We’re planning to go walk at a local point of interest this afternoon so it’s good to know that I can be wearing a Tshirt and shorts when we go.

Metal Mouse, he is mostly nice to the checkers, but has thunderclouds on his face. He made a big grocery run yesterday, so no self-checkout. Also, he has feelings about self-checkout because he doesn’t feel like he should be doing someone else’s job at the store.
One of my daughter’s cats has gone missing. He was a stray who ended up on their back porch over a year ago. They got him an insulated cat house, started feeding him, and he’s been there ever since. They also took him to the vet when required. Sadly, he disappeared over the last few days, and everyone there is sad. He is an extremely affectionate orange cat, with a loud motor purr. I met him last year, and he loved climbing into my lap. I hope he comes back and hasn’t been injured. Her other cats are indoor cats, but they occasionally come out to the back porch and hang out with Pumpkin Seed.
I didn’t get to the laundry yesterday, so I’ll need to jump on it today. I also need to dump my weed tub and empty the dog poo container. I have a dahlia that needs trimming and putting in a vase; the kitchen needs sweeping; and other than that, it’ll be RDOS stuff for the day.

Good morning, I guess. Up about 6:45am and decided to get the Firday shopping (and my Firday pecan sticky bun) early and since schools are closed for Fall break, it wasn’t too crowded on the roads. So of course I forgot my receipt and cannot add my bonus fuel points, so that was a pretty dumb start to the day. But the sticky bun was delicious so belly at least is happy. Temperature is 68F heading to 82F later and no rain today, but tomorrow is looking rather damp; might try to mow lawn today or just wait and get it next week.
BBBoo, I hope this voting is not quite as…exciting…as the one you described. Wonder if Mr. Gun Rights will show up to vote again (and I see you’ll be at another precinct, so hopefully a quieter day.

JtC, I just googled and there is a Data Center about 20 miles from where I live, which is still to close but there it is. I hope others protest that location to save the trees. Like the old song from our era:

Taters, usually use the self-serve, the local Krogers have several stations that have the belt and end area for packing, so I can do a lot of shopping and still do it myself, and I don’t feel inconvenienced, but people are different (would be boring otherwise). And hope Pumpkin Seed (that’s a great name) returns home soon.

Oh yes, there is much wailing, but politicians have been paid and the voice of the people ignored. The American Chestnut Foundation and several conservationist organizations are leading the charge, but there are also a lot of proud Appalachians who consider the American Chestnut to be an important part of their heritage who are getting loud.
Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got 'till its gone? 
The data center is being built by Anthropic and they are backed by billionaires. We can do whatever we want to try to stop them, but that really won’t matter. They will bulldoze the trees and then say “Oh, our bad. How much is the fine?” and carry on as usual.
Harry retired from the University of WV ag dept and is getting almost hourly reports and gossip about this. I’m sure that we will be heading there to chain ourselves to trees sometime soon. At least I already know what WV jails are like. I really hate living in this timeline.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I may (or may not) hit the dollar store for a small waste basket for the studio today. I need something other than a hanging bag for the non paper trash that I generate. I have a bin for paper scraps that go to recycling (we don’t have recycling pick up at my complex, so I bag mine and take it to Sis’ for her bin). I will do a load of laundry as well.
