(Old) Summer camp in the MMP

It’s the All Hog and Small Dog Drum Corps!

Ms. Dog says thanks for the birthday wishes, and would you care to throw a slobbery tennis ball?

Another warm one today. Got the AC on full fan. Went down to the ground floor terrace and did some minor gardening, but ran out of steam pretty quickly. Whenever I try to do stoop work, the arthritis in my back starts going into meltdown mode.

Cool and raining here.

Naturally, this is the only day I can get the motorcycle to the shop. Fortunately, they’re open until 1800.

I mentally reached for one of the boxes (and boxes, and boxes, and … ) of disposable gloves at work when I read this.

Speaking of … even though S.M. orders more of them than any other size, we always run low on Mediums. That’s what all the girls wear – ah, I’d forgotten, one night the all girls ganged up on Car(e)less Co-worker (the lone dude on staff that night) and semi-good-naturedly fussed at him if he so much as looked at the Mediums box.

We were like, “You’re a guy. You can wear the Larges!”

“I haven’t been trained on that.”

^ ^ ^ This. ^ ^ ^

Piña coladas?

Four weeks of dealing with this pain now. Scheduled for an MRI of my hip on 6 June, to see if there’s a problem with soft tissue that the x-rays don’t catch. If not, we may start talking knee replacement.

The weather cleared, and I got the bike to the shop. The roads were still wet. If we’d waited another hour they would have been dry. It was nice riding in the passenger seat on the way home. I was looking around like Edward Scissorhands on his first car ride.

The womens conference was great. 8-3. Preaching, praise, great lunch. A blessing.
Except it keeps feeling like tomorrow is Monday.

Mrs. L.A. wants me to go to church with her tomorrow. I think if I’m going to start going to church, I want to go to an Episcopal one because they’re liberal. She ditched the last church she went to (on Easter, where the pastor bashed Biden). The last straw was when some old guy (possibly with age-related mental decline) started fondling her shoulder. The new church is closer, and so far she likes it. But I like the trappings of ‘kneeler’ churches, and find Baptist churches to be too Conservative.

I have a ship’s bell clock. It hasn’t run in years, so I was going to have it fixed. I took it off the wall and shook it, and it started ticking. It just struck five bells… but it’s only four bells now. I guess I’ll have to have it looked at anyway. We’ll see if it rings six bells in half an hour.

Your neighbors sound irresponsible about their cat.

I’ve lost several toenails; each time it was after a backpacking trip.

Yay! Congrats to FCDaughter!

Happy Birthday Sari :birthday:

I agree with you wholeheartedly. When I signed on today, I was 80 some odd posts behind. I nominate the slothful one. swampy

Same with me. le sigh

Went to store to purchase birthday card for nephew, paid the iStorage bill and watched the Italian Open Women’s Final (Yay for Iga Swiatek) and 3rd round of PGA Championship (Yay Jordan for a 67 and moving to -8). I’ve read 40 some odd posts with 40 more to go but need to get about the business of fixing dinner. So, I’ll have to sign off for now.

I’ve thought the same thing. One good thing is that two of them (at least) follow them around so they kind of stick close to home. (I’ve seen them in our front yard though.) I hollered at the neighbour a little bit ago. He said Blue is home and safe. I told him Blue had almost been eaten yesterday, and he said he saw a coyote in his yard this morning. I really hope they take the hint.

Since it’s such a sunny day, I mowed the lawns. I did get bitten by a blackberry vine. Just got out of the shower, where I washed it, and I think I’ll wipe it with an alcohol prep. Maybe I should wear long pants in the yard.

SWMBO wants to go to Smuggler’s Tunnel today.

Okay, what kinda of psycho tears open the side of a bag of apples rather than undo the twist tie? TX SIL, that’s who! I opened the fruit drawer to get some blueberries and saw a gaping hole in the bag of galas. There are no words!!

Maybe a bit of an overreaction, but criminy!

Yikes! You may want to keep a close eye on how the consumption of red meat for a few months. I don’t know if you’re in the Lone Star tick’s range, but they are around here.

Happy birthday Ms Dog!

Has she never reused produce bags? The kind pre-bagged apples come in are especially sturdy.

Had lunch with SIL at an El Salvadoran place in her town. She had a traditional Salvadoran breakfast and I had pasteles with curtido. 'Twas yum. After, we went to Goodwill and another thrift store, then stopped at Bruster’s for ice cream. I’s stuffed and home now.

Howdy Y’all! After a rainy morn and early afternoon, the sun came out, so we decided to go to Jack’s and grab a burger. I had not eaten at a Jack’s in years and neither had OYKW, who grew up in Alabammy, the home of Jack’s. Good burgers, so we’ll remember that for future purposes. Plus, shorts, tshirt, and sandals are perfect wear. Other than that we slothed, we napped, and we day drank.

Sensei hope SenWife’s father is better soonest.

MOOOOOOM Hooray for guest free home!

Sticky_Buns I think havin’ some snacks such as you have now will be fine for the memorial service. No need to go all out buffet IMO.

Shoe I, too, would be wantin’ to do a drive-by just to see. I see you did and now there is raggedy pickup truck intrigue!

Nellie enjoy (or hope you enjoyed) your day with Ms Dog. Also Happy Birthday Ms. Dog!

VanGo sorry about your truck. Hope you are all better soonest.

FlyBoy I recommend hangin’ with the Whiskypalians, but I am kinda biased.

Cat_Glove that sounds like it might interfere with sloth, nappage, and/or day drinkin’.

Maybe a retired priest?

Ms. Dog and I walked down to another d around the lake. It was a windy day, so we didn’t get overheated. She met many nice dogs and kind humans and received birthday scritches with aplomb and the occasional prance. So far today, we’ve done 7 miles and have one (short) walk to go.

Who puts the ass in Texas? (Sorry. Is that too mean?)

Cookie, I forgot to tell you I loved the photo of the patch.

Today I found a new cover for my bed. It is very exciting. I’ve been looking for a new one for a few years. The old one sparked joy as soon as I saw it. This one sparked like. There were 3 that sparked like. This one goes best with the paint colour in the bedroom.

The bedroom is now going to lean more nautical now.

I ordered the taco salad as usual (this time with chicken – I prefer the ground beef or pulled pork) and was served the ‘beer cheese nachos’ (I don’t know if it had meat). Since I’d touched it (taking out tortilla chips until I caught on) they couldn’t serve it to the intended recipient. So we got a free batch of nachos. I won’t eat the chips, so The Missus gets it.

Good evening all. Been a busy day, soccer started at 7:30am and coached 2 games (we tied both of them) and refereeing two more after that it was after 1pm before I got home, just in time for the tunder-boomers to start. Ended up sleeping about 2 hours and been slothing since then. Internet is still down, ATT has someone coming over tomorrow, so hopefully I can resume regular communication. Have read all and love the snik and drive-in stories, but don’t have the ambition to write more.

Take care all and hopefully I can get back to my regular scheduled program.

Pineapple upside down cake

Well you’ll be in good company with swampy and our daughter. The in-laws were Episcopalian and that’s what Hubs was raised so I’ve been a number of times. A nice service.

Well after washing a bunch of dishes, I decided I didn’t want to make dinner so ordered Thai Pad Pak with beef. Yum.

Well, I’m caught up now so time to get busy with nighttime hygiene then off to bed. Night all.

That, indeed, is a perfect idea. I’m not gonna do it because I’m going to bed soon, but not the less, great idea!

I am so very tired. I spent most of the day getting bits and pieces together here and there. I didn’t make anything else. One of my cousins is making cupcakes or something.

The big excitement of the day was when I opened up the refrigerator and a (fortunately cold) kettle of matzo ball soup jumped out baptizing my feet and quite a bit of the floor. No idea how that happened.

ETA: I do appreciate everyone’s ideas. I’m still on the fence about cutting up fresh pineapple. We shall see how I feel tomorrow morning.
