As I am not British, I can only assume that “high tea” involves getting high & drinking tea.
I can do that.
You married a wise woman.
Maybe not, but it’s sweet of you to do this.
That’s awesome! I saw a live Beatles tribute band years ago, outdoors at a botanical garden, and it was super fun.
Replacement vape is safely stowed in my apron pocket with my Sharpies. (Get it? All my pens?) I may or may not have taken one or two hits, to verify for sure that it works. Yeah, that’s it; that’s totally why.
My earlier chicken boobie → three MOAR hours of deep sleep. I wanted to sleep longer, but when nature calls, you answer!
I’m already yawning again; this whole “getting caught up on sleep” thing is time-consuming, yo!
PSA for those who have unopened commemorative cans of soda: The seal will last approximately 14 years, 1 month, 23 days. Also, aged Mountain Dew will support an ecosystem.
I cleaned the janitor closet somewhat - at least it’s more organized. I also cleaned up the insulation that we dislodged from the ceiling yesterday. And I helped FCD identify a couple of circuit breakers.
Break time over - time to find something else to do. Unless we’re ready to quit. Whatever.
Outdoor lazy lunch with pal on Sat went well. Plenty of sun, sand, bikinis, and good conversation. A pleasant buzz was had, but no blottosity. Got fuel, carwash, & a bit of groc on the way home. Got back just in time for a big thunderstorm to wash everything except my car that was already indoors. Neener neener Mr. Storm! Ka-BOOM over and over was his frustrated reply.
Later Her Ladyship and I had simple dinner of leftovers. Reheated Korean beef noodle veg soup for me and a half-sandwich from ??? for her.
As is normal, I went to bed a bit after 9pm expecting Her Ladyship to join me much later as suits her nocturnal nature. I awoke at 5am today = Sun and she hadn’t yet come to bed. Color me concerned. Yup; she’d spent all night sleeping on the floor in the other bathroom alternating with barfing. Poor thing! Anyhow, she’s now spending a lazy day in bed “I don’t nap! Not EVAR!!!” and she had to cancel a planned dinner date tonight w a BFF of hers.
Meantime I’m hanging out here and catching up on other reading. In doggio’s honor I made a couple of Amazon purchases. They don’t weight but a couple ounces each, so they’ll be easy to heave. Although I expect the sissy white/gray USPS will get the honor, not the brawnier brown-themed folks.
There’s been no overtime over my off days that kinda matched the weekend this time. Normal irk starts tomorrow Mon at 4am. Might skate the day, might not. Depends on how badly afternoon thunderstorms snarl everything, but the early omens are few storms and little snarling. Go meee!
It’s good to read a couple days of everyone’s activity that’re more upbeat. Fewer great sufferings and more fun. Although poor shoe’s double and lack of food sounded pretty awful for her. Self-care is the best care.
Cheers to all, and to all a good day with plenty of self-care of whatever nature.
Turning into a lovely day - not too hot, low humidity, which unfortunately for me means the beach will be packed and so will we be.
Meanwhile, I dozed even more (told y’all I waz tahred!) and am now grazing on both food and the Dope.
Already rounded up the trash & rolled the bin out, so Future Shoe won’t hafta deal with it.
It’s only in the 70s (!! man, I friggin’ love being north of Texas) so I shut off Coolio to give the motor a break.
Monkey is monkeying around in the yard with occasional breaks to cool off inside. Black cat + bright sunshine = toasty warm!
And then, feted you’ve adequate self-care, you can launch out and take care of your priority others who need it. Win-win.
(P.s. boo isn’t very good at practicing what she preaches here, but I’m trying, especially after my little sister in sylvan Iowa reminds me to~you’all can nag me about it too.)
Oh man, that sucks. You are also making me worry about only having one vape pen in Utah. I should probably stop somewhere civilized and buy a spare just in case.
I see them open briefly in Prescott Valley as well. I’ve never had any interest in hookah smoking while I was smoking tobacco, and don’t know anyone who does. I’m guessing its too much of a nitch market to make it in the wrong place.
Great that it didn’t turn into a two day job like so many DIY projects do.
Good to know!
Oh that poor woman, didn’t this also happen a few months ago? She has my sincere sympathy.
Today I’m getting ready to leave. Mostly I’m rounding stuff up and doing laundry. I want to change the sheets as well, hubs isn’t likely to do it while I’m gone.
This afternoon I will be going to the Mogollon Vineyards to get Mom a bottle of wine. I wasn’t sure about bringing it with me in the car, but hubs reminded me that when I had some shipped to her, it was not in an air conditioned car but she still liked it, so I hope it will be OK.
She claims it’s a stomach that’s very sensitive to the slightest spoilage. Which could well be. I wonder if there’s not also an element of migraine involved, although she says not. She apparently did suffer a bit from migraine headaches years before we were together, so she ought to be well informed about how they feel from the inside. I also know they manifest in several different ways in different people. Barfing but headache-less migraine doesn’t seem too outré.
I find her continued willingness and in fact desire to eat restaurant leftovers to be a bit puzzling; yes, it’s the habit of years, and yes, it’s easy. We don’t need to economize that much. If I was the one barfing over what I thought was spoilage I sure wouldn’t be bringing anything home after a meal out.
Anyhow, now at 3pm she’s napping or nearly so. Comfy and unmoving in a silent bed in a darkened room in any case.
I wondered about that myself, but then remembered that her last bout didn’t involve leftovers, it was a lovely sounding dinner that did her in. Personally, I wouldn’t be eating at restaurants at all if I kept getting sick from their food, but we already agreed that I’m a weenie after the sun on skin discussion!
The dawter came by for a nice visit today. Always good to catch up on family stuff, and particularly on her son, who got himself in a bit of a scrape with the law recently. His father is the worst example a young person could have, as he’s always blaming “woke people and the damned liberals” for everything under the sun. I wish the state would remove the boy from that house permanently, but apparently the state considers someone who is 12 years or older to be mentally able to make rational decisions about who he lives with.
Migraines often shape-shift over the years they afflict people. Abdominal migraines for some reason hide in plain sight and remain obscure. Untold numbers of sufferers attribute them to noroviruses or ‘bad food’.
Might be worth keeping a journal and consulting a neurologist, a headache specialist one if you can find one.
Back in 1976, when I was on an Army base in South Korea, the gals in my barracks were collecting special cans of 7-UP that were printed for the Bicentennial. There were 51 different cans, one for the USA as a whole and one for each state. Then, if stacked in a certain pattern there was a picture of Uncle Sam. We had all but two cans collected when one gal for some reason got mad and knocked them all down. No problem, the could have been restacked, but it was late in the evening and for then we left them. In the morning we found they were all gone, a cleaning lady had picked them up. Believe it or not we started over and finally got them all.
But speaking of soda cans and Korea I remember when a group of us went on a picnic. We had a lot of goodies, of which the chicken was the best. But outside the fence around the park area there were several local residents watching us, rather poorly dressed. When we left, after putting the trash in a bin, these folks came in and got the aluminum cans out of the trash, presumably to redeem them for the metal. If we had known they wanted them that badly we would have let them have them filled I think. Damn, I was glad to be an American.
FCD had a hankerin’ for Texas Roadhouse so we had late lunch/early supper and we’s stuffded!!! We dropped off a bag of 'maters for MIL and now we’re done for the day.
Daughter asked me to weed the beds in front of her school. I’m going to divide some of my liriope and maybe some black eyed susans and some hostas and take them over - the beds are really pathetic. FCD will continue some electrical work. Only about 4 weeks till students return - still a lot of work to do.
