(Old) Thank God It's Frood Day - A Hoopy MMP

Hemingway daiquiris, and a charcuterie style of thing: Thick-sliced deli roast beef, salami, brie, and slices of provolone, Swiss, and Muenster.

Howdy Y’all! We et at the hog trough GC and then accomplished nappage and day drinkin’. That pretty much sums up the day at da cave.

Pilot I am sure you have completed the required assemblage by now. Hope it was not too much of PITA.

Sticky_Buns yay for MusicMan! How weird about the hs diploma though. My folks had five kids. I got used to “roll call” until one or both of the 'rents figured out who it was they needed.

red yay for the pay raise!

rocker gotta say that globe cart is tres cool.

doggio our likker cabinet has doors that we keep closed. That way company does not see the amount of likker in there and assume we are the county drunks. Of course, they’d think the same thing if’n the looked in the beerator.

MOOOOOOM I am sure FCD and you are somewhat relieved over what hospice had to say.

Cookie I say smart move about Memorial Day. The graduation celebration seems like a so much better reason for a get together.

Dicey happy furniture movin’. Also, better thee than me.l

FlyBoy daquiris and an adult Lunchable sounds like a nice Firday evenin’.

The only thing is that the drinks are too small. The glasses are just under five ounces, and have only have two ounces of rum.

I think that hospice gave you and FCD an out Moooom. Hiring a sitter for respite care is an excellent idea though. When my mom was legally blind, walked with a walker and dealing with dementia, Dad was fortunate that he had some good neighbors in their small town who volunteered to give him a break to go play cards, to a tractor show or whatever he wanted to do for downtime.

GG and I are leaving in less than two weeks, we are running out of time.

We hate moving, our first move was from my studio apartment to the one bedroom next door. Even that was a total PITA.

This will be the last time we move house, I’m totally over it.

I’m not sure that I really want you to move, where would I go for the weekly bin reports?

Yeah, I keep wondering about that myself. Who cares if someone actually graduated high school more than 20 years ago, surely everything they learned back then has been overwritten by how things are today.

Hurray for more money, anything helps nowadays.

Thank you for the very cute card, I’m glad Nelson is enjoying his treats

Oh boo! I know you are so disappointed

I am pretty sure that flying is just right out as well. The changes in altitude are enough be concerning, and the small bathrooms wouldn’t be helpful either.

Our company is always impressed when they see the insides of our beerator. That’s probably because most of them have their own beerators but they have to settle for sto bought beers while ours is full of home made stuff.

Or it usually is, we are eating and drinking out of our stash and hubs is out of his beer now and has to settle for sto bought stuff as well.

So today we got the word that we were cleared to close on the 7th. Hubs was all ??? because we thought we were closing on the 3rd, but that got straightened out so GG and I will still be leaving on the 4th.

The mama cat we were planning on trying to adopt has been taken off the market. It seems she was so sweet that her foster family wants to keep her. I’m very happy for her and know that there will be other homeless kitties when we get there. GG is still depressed and grieving, he needs a buddy.

Confused. Isn’t the cee-mint pond outside?

What a day. Well, SOS. Walked to work, which was nightmarish, was there 5+ hrs twice this week due to the change softwarewise and credit card processor. One of the guys gave me a ride home; it’s not that far, basically six-tenths of a mile but I was beat. Then had to rest up and make grocery list. Received a text from friend inquiring if I wanted to walk but I had to beg off. So, we’ve decided to walk tomorrow morning.

Went to Kroger and had to call Hubs twice to ensure that digital coupons were downloaded; one was not which gave an extra $2 off on that product. My plan since getting the circular on Wednesday was to make stuffed peppers since bell peppers were on sale for 99 cents apiece. But too tired when got home and unpacked and put everything away. So, I had the half of my crepe that I brought home yesterday. Hubs is experiencing some abdominal cramps so he just had yogurt and later some cereal. Breyers was BOGO and normally I get lactose free vanilla and chocolate for Hubs but there was still some chocolate in the freezer and darn it, sometimes I like to get normal ice cream for self so I bought LF vanilla for Hubs and Reese’s Chocolate with chunks of Reese’s PB cups and Reese’s PB swirl for self. Have had a BIG bowl. YUM. Looking forward to the watermelon over the weekend; it’s chilling in the frig as I type.

Excellent; that’s great news

oh heck, our reusable grocery bags haven’t been washed in quite a while. Thanks for mentioning, I’ll be sure to do it this week before I go to Kroger next Friday. As a matter of fact, I’m getting out of the chair this second to take them downstairs otherwise, I’d likely forget. BRB.

I picked up fresh eggs from my BFF yesterday. Even though the ones I have been buying over the winter (when her hens don’t lay) have said Free Range, her hens’ eggs taste much better.

I napped. There was a thunderstorm. Spot licked my head. Now I’m having salmon with wild and brown rice blend with peas and mushrooms. And a Cuba Libré. The complex cee-ment pond is now open, and I have Monday off.

The Luxardo Maraschino liquor is worse. I have to stick it on on a wine bottle holder to fit it in.

Understandable

Evening all. Did get to the gym this afternoon to discover I hadn’t packed my gym shorts so came home and sulked until after my Big Bowl O’Salad was consumed and went back over this evening for about 60+ minutes of pedaling and a little sauna sweat time. Inside now and don’t plan on going anywhere until tomorrow.

Has a small sad. The Pest control people left a couple glue traps in my garage after I mentioned my mouse problem (they were here for a regular service). Pretty much ignored them, they were deep in the corners, but looked this evening…no mice but a dead little bird, not sure if it was one of the small species or a youngster, but it had apparently flown inside and got caught. Will toss it in the trash but not happy, I don’t like death and have nothing against birds (or even mice, I use catch and release traps) and I could have prevented this one if I had just removed them when I saw them lying there. Guess I’ll live and learn.

FCM, glad you/FCD don’t have to make an exhausting drive. Flying is the easy part–getting her through the airports might be much tougher.

Dicey, been to the VLA a couple of times, it’s out of the way but quite an impressive site, with a little museum/gift shop. And when all the radio telescopes re-orient themselves in unison…very cool.

Cat Glove, sounds like you piled up some impressive Kroger points; and I can’t keep Ice Cream in the house, like potato chips I have no will-power when it comes to eating it. And you can wash the reuseable bags? It never once occured to me to do that but come next laundry day they go in the machine.

Never say never, but hopefully the last major relocation. I’m waiting until I’m 75-76 to give up my house and look for an apartment/retired living site, and hopefully that will be my last move.

It’s moving close to 10Pm and I did not nap today, so will be heading off to slumberland soon. Catch y’all on Sattiday.

They are fresher. Store bought eggs are usually at least two weeks old.

I’m going to miss our fresh eggs and am hoping to find a new source soon.

We are not going to do that. That would involve sharing walls with strangers and we both agreed that we would not do that again, once was enough. One of the reasons we picked our new home was because of the near-by services. We will take care of each other until we can’t, and then we will be carted off one by one.

Aaaaaaaagh. I walked to the falls and back. Total miles: 8.95. Of course, I expect to be sore after walking that far, but my legs are killing me–much worse than when I’ve made that hike before. I have no idea why. What was weird was how deserted the streets and the park were. It was like that old song, “Everyone’s Gone to the Moon.” I guess they all left town yesterday.

The city buses all say, “Remember and Honor,” which I think is nice.

I forgot to mention that I ventured into the discount grocery store yesterday. It was…odd. It seemed like half the store was tchotchkes. The food selection wasn’t great. Some items were cheaper, some not so much. What lured me in was the sign advertising Chateau St. Michelle Essences for $2.99 a bottle. I’ve seen Essences on sale for $10.99. So I got a few. Why do I keep buying wine that I seldom drink? I’m going to have to get my daughter out here and send some home with her. (Son an wife are practically teetotalers. Maybe once a year, they’ll split a cocktail. Where did I go wrong? Where?)

I also stopped at the dollar store and stocked up on sunglasses. I wear them even on cloudy days. My pupils are hyuuuge due to surgeries and such, so my eyes are light-sensitive, and eye docs have recommended sunnies even on overcast days.

Cat Glove, I’m glad you had some medicinal ice cream. I hope hub’s tummy is no longer crummy.

MetalMouse, that IS sad, but how could you have known? You’re a kind soul. Sending you some comforting back-pats.

I don’t like glue traps either. They’re inhumane. Something that causes instant termination is much less unkind. My last complex put glue traps on the landing by my door and my SIL’s chihuahua got stuck on it (pets weren’t permitted there, so no resident’s pets were endangered). He was a panicked little guy and it took a bath and using vegetable oil on the two feet that had gotten stuck to get him cleaned up. Poor baby.

I just saw something today about glue traps around trees to catch caterpillars. The image was of a bird caught in one band, and there was another image of motherless chicks;

Touch wood, we are over our mouse problem. Perhaps cat-smell keeps them away. But I used snap traps in the attic years ago. One time, the trap didn’t kill the mouse instantly. I had to take it outside and kill it. I have a .22 caliber Harrington & Richardson 999, and I happened to have some snakeshot. I put it out of its misery.

But speaking of collateral damage (re: the caterpillar glue traps), our Creamsicle died of sudden kidney failure. We think the mighty huntress died from eating a poisoned mouse.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Today’s my Firday, and a two day weekend.

Sorry about the bird, Metalmouse.

Hope the legs feel better, Nellie

Buddy really needs to get his fuzzy rump home. He’s been roaming for about sixteen hours now, and he has two worried humans waiting for him. His sisters are, of course, indifferent to the matter. Misty doesn’t seem terribly interested in household goings-on in general, and about Allie really cares about regarding Buddy is whether he’s bugging her (she defines being aware of his presence as him bugging her some days).

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and mostly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 89 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. JDD and Partner are comin’ over around elevenish to hang at the cee-mint pond. Much silliness shall ensue. At some point we shall also grill burgers for today’s main need to feed. Should be a fun day.

Cat_Glove the sentence should have read “plus the plan is to spend a lot of time at the cee-mint pond tomorrow.” That’s what happens when one posts before the caffeine kicks in. Or maybe it was me takin’ another giant step closer to the home.

MetalMouse sorry about the birdie. I would have had a sad as well.

JtC wow this is gettin’ real for sure! I am sure there will be somebody nearby who raises chikins. After all you are movin’ to West Virginny.

Nettie hope Buddy has shown up or shows up soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I think so, too, and I suspect when he calls the caseworker next week, that’s what he’ll be told. But for now, I’m staying out of the discussion. And for those keeping score - I goofed in my last post. MIL will be 93, not 90. Sheesh.

Slept with Mel and got close to 8 hours, so huzzah! It’s a gloriously cool morning (62°) and theoretically, there will be no rain till tomorrow night, followed by a soggy Moanday holiday, not that we had and special plans. I need to run to Food Lion for a few things, but that’s about it. Maybe some yard work later.

FCD is trying to figure a way to get his brother more involved in his mother’s care - like having him take her twice a week back to the old apartment to visit the friends she made. The problem is BIL refuses to talk to FCD - drama I can’t possibly explain here, but all tied to BIL’s mental issues. Anyway, we might get 2 respite days out of that.

I also need to plan for the week of June 10 (at least Tues thru Firday) when I’ll have Roxy. If the weather permits, I’ll take her to the pool at the marina a couple of times. She’s easier to entertain now that she’s a bit older, and that will help. Plus no diapers!! That’s always a plus!!

And so begins the holiday weekend. Happy Saturday!

:crossed_fingers:

I am up and I’ve been working for an hour. I applied for another similar online gig and I need to take a test for it. I’m going to get situated and do that soon. To everyone who can’t figure out why he needed the diploma…. Yes, it’s ridiculous! Especially because he was in the army and already gave them a copy of his DD214. Oh well. I just hope that he really loves the job. He deserves to be happy.

Ok, the poodle is telling me it’s time to get back to work!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a precited high of 18c/64f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Are you tired of talking about the fucking weather? I’d be happy to tell you about my fucking weird rash.” No, thanks, let’s stick to the weather! It’s a bit overcast out there but there’s no rain in the forecast until later tonight so I’m fine with that.

Moooom sounds like hospice have made the decision for you, taking MIL out of the plan is not going to work for you at all. It would be good if BIL could take a bit of the load off you both, and have MIL for a couple of days here and there just to give you a break.

Sticky Buns I’m so glad MusicMan got the job, but I am also surprised by the requirement for the diploma. When I started my job, I was asked to produce evidence of two specific qualifications (maths and English) which I gained well over 30 years ago. I have them a copy of my university degree certificate and said they’d have to make do with that. They’ve never asked for the others since then

JtC fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for the move now, I know you’re worried and stressed, but I am very excited for you! If we ever move house, there will still be a bin report because I can’t imagine we’d manage to find somewhere with neighbours who actually think for themselves…

MetalMouse I am sorry about the birdie, it’s unpleasant when you find things like that. I would definitely have a sad too.

Nettie I hope Buddy comes home soon, hopefully when his tum starts to rumble, he’ll decide it’s time to call it a day on his perambulations.

Yesterday was a really grotty day. I had two rounds of utter commuter hell, my farcebook friends will have seen all of that. One of my minions wasn’t speaking to us for most of Friday, I know she’s got some family stuff going on because she told me about it before, but I also know she’s got a right bag on about having to attend an hour-long meeting last Thursday. The sulk isn’t about the meeting itself, it’s about the fact she asked if she could skip it and I said no to that - one of our operations team is leaving, this was her last meeting with us, we had a card and gift for her and I wanted as many people as possible to be there as it would be nice for her. My minion was not impressed and sat through the meeting with a face like a wet weekend in Blackpool, and refused to speak to anyone for the rest of the day. She was still sulking through most of Friday, which is really the last thing anyone needed.

I made yummy chicken curry last night for dinner and we had a sofa and film night, so I was in bed by 11pm, and up at about 7am today. One the feline bums and tums were done, I had a cuppa and some breakfast before getting myself together for the gym. I did the usual kettlebells and dumbbells classes, and almost an hour on the cross-trainer in between so there was quite a good calorie burn.

I’m home and showered, just need to get my hair dry and have more restorative tea before we head into town. We’re going for lunch at the Good Chinese Place, then errands before heading back to the car. I usually park in the supermarket car park where I get 3hrs free but today I’ll park on the retail park (2hrs free) because that’s where the pet store is. I need to get cat litter, and we need some more puppy pads as well so it makes more sense to park there.

Tonight is cocktails night, 'im indoors is cooking but I have no idea what he’s planning to do. He made pulled pork tacos earlier in the week and I know there’s leftover meat in the fridge so it might be burritos tonight. Who knows?

Mornin’ all. It’s already 0900 here, and I “slept in” until 0530 this time. Maybe finally coming off the two-week adrenaline high. Sunrise was pretty although it terminated the balconatin’ right quick. My new balcony faces east and, but for cloud, there is just no hiding from the Dazzling Orb between the time it first clears the ocean and about 12 noon when it disappears past the edge of the building. Today is cloudless so far with little breeze and presently 82/28 on the way to 93/34. The overnight low was about 77/25. The thermostat reports my interior temp is 78 which is ideal. I might close up the doors soon and turn the AC on to keep it from getting to 80 in here.

Late afternoon and into last night I knocked off some small tasks that had been way back in the priority list. Best of all the to-do list is now to the place where I’m finishing tasks faster than I think up new ones that need doing. Which is a welcome change from earlier where the opposite was true; the more I did, the longer the list got. Understandable and par for the course, but irritating nevertheless. I have a few more of those small easy ones I’ll tackle today after feedin’ which is my next order of business after I hit [Send]. Shevelin’ can wait until I’m ready to leave for whatever / whenever.

Last night I made the first non-leftover non-breakfast meal here at the new place. A thick ham-and-swiss sandwich accompanied by pimento-ed olives and blueberries. With some brie on whole-wheat crackers for dessert later. And had my healthy gin & tonic with lime to ward off both malaria and scurvy. Being near both an ocean and a swamp, both are risks not to be trifled with.

As to y’all …

I had the same misreading. Although I never got the attraction of Skittles themselves, I’ve certainly lunched on SweeTarts, peanut M&Ms, or Starbursts. Yummy and oh so joyously non-nutritious.

FCM: Yeah, as we all know, MIL isn’t going anywhere. Or if she does, she’ll be de-enrolled from hospice. Which will happen over your dead bodies.

It’s a darn shame the Indy folks had not consulted you before creating a big family party MIL always had near-zero ability to attend. Still, the desire for one last visit is strong in the oldsters, and not unreasonably so.

But then what will you do for respite from the stress of dealing with BIL, his issues, and the post-visit issues he’ll have stirred up with MIL?

From my distant remove that sounds like a net loss for your / FCD’s sanity not a net gain. Best of luck however it sorts out.

I was real happy to have jettisoned so much stuff when HL and I got together and again when we split apart. And happy to have lived very lightly, almost suitcase-in-hotel style, these last three-plus months. Very refreshing and freeing.

Which means I’m now both bemused and concerned at how rapidly and thoroughly I’ve restocked my life with “stuff”. Moving in here was sorta easy done in stages over a couple weeks, but moving out will be quite a production. So much for the idea of decamping to e.g. Thailand. How did I do that to myself? Hmmm.

As to JtC’s comment about hearing the neighbors, last night I heard a neighbor for the very first time. I was out on the balcony getting a moon tan and heard a couple yakking on some other balcony. I couldn’t figure out where though; they might have been directly above or below me or else around the edge of the building. By design I have almost no line of sight to other balconies - late night yoga mat outdoor romps sorta require that. :leer: :rabbit: :rabbit2:.

Enough drivel for one session; past time to feed.

Cheers all and happy weekend to those on traditional schedules!! :sun_with_face:

I hope that Buddy is home, safe and sound this morning.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and protecting a little reddish doggy from the thunderboomers outside. Funny, thunder bothers him, but when the town puts on the annual air show down the street, he’s okay with that.

Sis is on her way from Indiana and should be here early in the afternoon. We’ll go out for dinner and make an early evening of it so’s she can get started on the long leg of the trip tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
