(Old) Thank God It's Frood Day - A Hoopy MMP

Back from a quick grocery run. FCD has taken the trash and recycling to the convenience center, then he’s off to the marina. MIL is still abed. I’m gonna read a while till she gets up.

Speaking of reading, you know I divert myself with trashy historical romance novels - shut up - I need the diversion! They’re all pretty much utterly predictable - the first man and the first woman described in any detail will end up married at the end, but only after certain obstacles/secrets/misunderstandings are overcome. They amuse me and provide an escape for a bit. EXCEPT when the author resorts to some hokey Deus-ex-machina plot twist to tie up loose ends. The one I just finished had such an ending and it wasn’t even remotely credible. I suspect she started writing the book not knowing how to resolve it. Whatever. At least I didn’t spend any money on that particular book.

OK, off to see if the next one on my list is at least somewhat believable.

Missing cat post on FB:

she’s been gone since wednesday night and she usually stays outside at night and comes inside in the morning. wednesday night was the last time i saw her. i’ve been out tonight and last night around the bay looking for her.

This, a couple/few weeks after I posted a coyote warning, after I saved a neighbour’s cat from being eaten. I looked at the guy’s page, and he looks like he’s in his 20s. I’m sure I’ve seen him riding his sportbike along the beach. If he lives here, he must hear the coyotes from time to time. As a member of our local group, I can’t believe he didn’t see my much-‘liked’ warning post. And yet he let his cat out at night! That’s the worst time for pets to be outside! He says:

i’m scared that she’s lost, hungry and cold :sob: :broken_heart:

If she’s lost, hungry, and cold, that would be a good thing because that would mean she’s not a pile of coyote scat.

What do these people think? ‘Oh, I know there are coyotes and bald eagles and owls around here; but there’s no way they’ll catch my pet!’?

:crying_cat_face:

Morning all. Thunder Boomers woke me up about 6am, but I managed to get back to sleep and stayed in until 8am, since soccer is over there is no reason for an early Satttiday wake-up. By then the rain had left the area and it is drying out nicely, supposed to get to 85F today and a 60% chance of the rain returning tonight. No plans for the day, maybe another gym run but might try to do something else, what, I don’t know yet but give me a little time to think… Do have a coupon for a free cookie at a new cookie place nearby (they have taken an old farm and are completely developing it into shops, restaurants, apartments, etc.) so might sample their wares; at least I would have a good excuse for exercising.

FCM, I have been hauling old Science Fiction short story collections (we’re talking 50’s-70’s here) off my shelf and taking them with me to read while I’m pedaling my way to nowhere. Given their age, some are woefully out of date, but some are still pretty damn good. At least they divert me from all the sweating I’m doing. Hope your next book has something resembling a reasonable plot.

flyboy, it may just be the conceit that ‘it would never happen to me or mine’. Hope cat does show up for him, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

Nettie, doubt Buddy has been gobbled by a coyote in your neck of the woods, but here’s hoping the wandering feline gets his butt home soon.

Pilot, as the comedian George Carlin said, all homes are just a place for our stuff, and we always are moving it around and changing it’s makeup. Glad things are settling down for you.

boo fae, minion needs to grow up a bit, some disappointment can be expected, but 2 days of it is ridiculous.

JtC, I truly hope your plan works out.

OK, need to do a couple of kitchen chores and then see what needs to be done about the house. Have a good Sattiday all.

Yesterday I took one Tylenol right after I got up – no oxycodone or goop. So far I’ve been up five hours, and not a twinge. Lovely warm, sunny days yesterday and today, so I’m wondering if it was all the rain that set my knee off.

No Buddy yet, and it’s been about 24 hours since I last saw him  . Worried about the boy. When he gets home, he is SO grounded! DH thinks he may be visiting with another tenant. I hope so, because that would mean he’s OK.

Well, filled out the onboarding, thankfully it didn’t take long.
Because last night I went to bed at 10 and woke at 1.30 and 5 with bad urgency to pee.
My dr. Not in today so went to Urgent care, where it turns out I do have a uti, high levels of all the bad stuff.
I had one in April. What is wrong with me?
Don’t answer that.
Now I am headed to the pharmacy and then library.
The grocery store was busy, why do people wait til the Holiday is almost upon them?

No Panamanian Vince today, but reasonable heaving and cleanup on the 200 Slide.
Happy Towel Day! I’m having an afternoon gin&tonic, since I’m out of fixin’s for Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters :cup_with_straw:

Buddy, get your butt home!

Which mainly shows he has a better than average chance of being able to field strip an M-16.

I have the same bin issues, plus Colors Outside the Lines guy.

Yay! and
:birthday:  :champagne:HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERALD!!!:champagne:  :birthday:

FCM, the Bil doing MiL sitting situation sounds like a way to simultaneously decrease and increase the stress in your life

Glad the onboarding went well, but sucks about the UTI, Coppertone.

:crying_cat_face: :people_hugging:

Greetings from Safe Harbor Zahniser! Just connected to the marina wifi. Taking a break from figuring out the AC circuitry. MIL is in an Adirondack chair listening to her audiobook. It’s a gorgeous day here. Life is good!

I’ve dismembered a chicken.

I cut the breasts in half, so there are four breast pieces; plus two legs, two wings, and two thighs. Later, I’m going to sprinkle a little salt, pepper, and paprika on them and bake them in a 350ºF oven for 45 minutes or an hour, then put BBQ sauce on them and finish them on the grill. I’ll have to go to the market or supermarket to get a couple of ears of corn. Meanwhile, I put the internal organs into a zip-top bag with flour, kosher salt, freshly-ground black pepper, and paprika. I’ll fry those up for a snack later. I cut the spine into three or four pieces, and put them on the simmer with the neck bones and some salt to make a stock. I don’t know what I’ll use it for, but hey, free bones! Gotta make stock!

Mrs. L.A. has been working on the bathroom. (As she has off-and-on for a while.) She told me she gave up. She’ll sand the mud when it dries, and probably just paint over everything tomorrow. She’s out right now, getting more propane for the catio heater.

She’s taking next week off. I get Memorial Day off, and I’m taking Friday off. I’ll go to Burien Tuesday as usual, which she’ll probably appreciate since I won’t be underfoot.

ETA: Mrs. L.A. just got back. She says there’s no corn at the corner market. I asked her, ‘Why do they call it a corner, then?’

I slept in today. I was surprised to find it was 9 a.m.! I showered, chatted with Old Flame, and am about to start housework. Then I’ll walk to the store to get some fresh produce. I decided maybe I should ease up today since I was in so much pain I couldn’t sleep last night. I have no idea what that was about. Tomorrow is my day off from walking, but I might go for a short one anyway, as I don’t feel right on days I don’t get much exercise.

Seanette, I am WILLING Buddy home. I said a prayer to St. Francis on the couldn’t-hurt-might-help theory.

Boo, I owe you a huge apology and a thank you. I tend to miss posts now and then, and somehow I missed your very kind one of a few days ago. I’m sorry and thanks a bunch!

flyboy, I think it’s hard for people with outside cats to keep them in all night. At least, I’m guessing that’t the explanation. A few years ago, we had a cat torturer and murderer on the loose here. His MO was so sickening and twisted, I won’t post it here, but “horrific” hardly does it justice. I think eventually he (or she) got something like 15 cats. There was a special police investigative team formed and warnings all over the place to keep cats in at night. Despite all that, some people still let their cats out, and some of those cats became victims.

Also, your corny joke was a dad joke if ever there was one. Nice work!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HERALD! :notes: :birthday:

You’re welcome, of course, but if has been more than 20 minutes you are going to need to help me out and remind me what the topic was😂

Curious, how old is your minion? Her behavior was unprofessional and frankly juvenile. (or perhaps pathologically narcissistic-sorry her behavior reminded of the Orange Guy from Florida currently indicted in 4 different jurisdictions, on trial in one of them)

Herald Very glad to hear that you’re painfree today. Truly hope you continue being painfree. Also:
Happy Birthday!!! :birthday: :balloon: :balloon:

Finished planting marigolds along the walkway to the backdoor. Planted 1/2 of the tomatoes, I’ll hopefully plant the rest when it gets cooler in the evening or tomorrow morning. Then I walked 3-1/4 miles with a friend.

 It just popped in and shot outta my mouth. (My filter is defective.)

The motorcycle shop called, so we went down to Bellingham to pick it up. The fork tubes were pitted, but he ‘stoned’ the high spots. May or may not leak, but OKFN. It’s still a tight fit for my knee that has limited range of motion, but OK. Traffic on the freeway was moving along about 85 mph (indicated). I couldn’t resist, so I hit 100 mph and then backed off.

It’s after 13 o’clock. Might make the chicken early.

We weren’t at the marina too long, but I got some notes to start figuring out the wiring. Then I lost all motivation. Go figure!

TX SIL sent MIL a copy of TX BIL’s obit. She asked me to read it to her. I managed not to laugh at some of the fiction contained therein. But I guess one doesn’t use words like racist, bigot, and right-wing whack job in an obit.

As you might have guessed, I was not fond of that man.

Howdy Y’all! In from quality cee-mint pond time, silliness, grillin’, and eatin’. A good time was had by all. It started to rain around two-thirty which was fine cause we’d about had enough of splashin’ about and so forth. Burgers got grilled and we et out on the back porch cause ‘twas really nice out. JDD and Partner then left and it has sinced rained some more and we are under a tstorm watch until sometime this evenin’. We are all showered and now 'tis chill time.

Sticky_Buns good to know Annie keeps you on task and tells you when it’s time to get back to work.

BooFae I guess your minion showed you! I am sure you will long remember bein’ pouted at for an entire day.

Pilot it always feel good to knock down a todo list. I am also glad you are bein’ proactive in wardin’ off malaria and scurvy. One cannot be too careful.

red enjoy the visit with sis. Also, give Nelson some :: skritches :: from Unca swampy.

MetalMouse I love me some good ol’ timey scifi stuff!

FlyBoy Mrs. L.A. must love you to keep you around after that corny pun.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR HHHEEERRRAAALLLDDD!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Hey – keep it down, there! People trying to sleep, you know!

Hippy Burpday, Herald!

pilot Congrats on gettin the new place into some semblance of order.

nettie Hoping Buddy returns soon.

I’ve been dealing with the Lyme disease thing, so far all I’ve had is I get tired really quickly. The antibiotics have knocked the rash way back, but it still itches. I tried to do yardwork today and managed 20 minutes before I was bushed.

When I took the bike to the shop, I wore a GAP denim jacket that I’ve had since the '90s. Too big, and doesn’t really ‘go’ with a (red!) sportbike. Today I pulled out a blue-and-black leather racing jacket that I wore with my (blue) Seca II. It was… pretty loose. On the way home I could feel it ballooning, and I could feel the drag. Now, motorcycle jackets tend to run small. I’ve lost a ton of weight (not literally), and this jacket is a 4XL. I found my black non-deadcow skin jacket (I thought it was a Joe Rocket, but it isn’t). I put it on, and Mrs. L.A. said, 'No. Still too loose.) It’s a 3XL. So she’s getting me a 2XL black, leather, Joe Rocket jacket for my birthday.

Happy Birthday Herald!! And Yea! for the improving knee.

VanGo, Hope you recover fully from the Lyme disease thing; never have had it but doesn’t sound like much fun. Take care.

FCM, I was taken by the title of “Safe Harbor Zahnisher” and Google-Mapped it. Looks quite impressive, but couldn’t pick you out (guess the resolution isn’t that good yet… ). And sometimes I’m tempted to write my own obituary (not planning to use it for the next 20 years, mind you), just so I can have the pleasure of reading it before I pass…

flyboy, glad the cycle is back home and you’re a braver man than I, 100mph in a car is something I’ve only reached on very long, straight and deserted roads and I was scared most of the time I was at it. And nice dad joke, there.

nellie, they ever catch that creep? I’m not overly fond of cats, but that would make me incredibly angry.

Coppertone, hope your infection gets cleared up quickly.

Nettie, all appendages crossed that Buddy gets home safely.

Well, I stopped at a new place called CookieFix, they had sent me a flyer that gave me one free cookie so I ended up with a half-dozen (those marketeers ain’t dumb), 3 chocolate chip and 3 chocolate chip/M&M. So far, in a remarkable display of self-control, I have only eaten three of them, but the remainder will not survive the rest of the weekend. As penance did some extra cycling at the gym so I don’t feel too bad about it, but damn they are good.

Outside of the cookie binge and pedaling nowhere not much other activity to report. It’s N.O.S. and 85F with lots of sun out, so the AC is on and will remain so into the evening.
