(Old) Thank God It's Frood Day - A Hoopy MMP

Yay! Although it does puzzle me that a) why the new gig would require a physical diploma from someone MusicMan’s age and b) why the high school hasn’t made it to the 21rst century and deal with things online.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels / grocery bagd in the dryer and a load of clothes in the wash. Shortly, I’ll move my carcass to do KP and the rest of the houseirk. Such excitement.

Yesterday at irk, I got notification that beginning Monday, I get a raise. It still won’t bring me up to my former pay, but still, another $90 a pay period will help.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

i’ve been looking for a nifty new globe… they do have those really cool bar globes. would that work for your glassware?

Brown Vintage Globe Rolling Wine Bar Kitchen Cart With Extra Shelf (homedepot.com)

I go for (paid) orientation tomorrow.
Today, library mission as libraries are closed Sunday and Monday.
Just read Poisoned Heart by Dee Dee Ramone.
Don’t. Its one of the most depressing books I’ve read in a long time. 1 2 3 4!

My grandfather (who helped raise me) routinely went through several names to get to the right person. In my case, he’d try my mother, then my two aunts (grandfather’s step-daughters), possibly even other family members.

DFIL would run through his wife, his daughter, his granddaughter, me, and possibly the dog they had at the time, who had a human-plausible name.

These things happen. With my three pets, it’s far from unheard of to use the wrong name/pronoun, and since the two of the same species are different genders and the two of the same gender are different species…

Another drawn out heaving, but light volume. The Teamsters ratified a new contract with Molson/Coors, so I am no longer boycotting them for not giving a good contract. Now I’m boycotting them because the sell awful beer.

But chicks dig a swanky bar cabinet!

Yay!

Tres weird.

also the “catch on fire” and “no internal door handles in back” bits.

Yay!

For once my timing worked, did all my shopping and got back home just as the first thunder boomed. Also dropped off my plastic bags and old glasses (two generations old) at the appropriate places at Wal-Mart, so I’m feeling slightly virtuous, too. It’s raining now and looks to remain wet for several hours, so quite happy to be inside with no particular reason to go out. Made an appointment for Tuesday to get my biopsy stitches removed (don’t think I mentioned it before and can’t be bothered to look it up) and need to do some soccer stuff on-line and a rainy day is just the ticket for that.

red, hooray for the raise, might not be a lot, but these days every little bit will help.

Coppertone, happy orientation and thanks for the book (non)-recommendation.

Onward!

Interesting development on the MIL/hospice front. They will not authorize transfer of care for her to go to Indy. They don’t think she should travel, and if she does, she’ll have to drop out of hospice. So no road trip for us. FCD is investigating flights to Indy and back for him and his mom for a short visit, but he needs to talk to hospice and AuntB about it, so we shall see. I’m wondering if what I said to the nurse last week about it being a bad idea may have made its way to the doctor…

Last load in the washer. T-boomers just went thru. Waiting for the shower aide. Much chillage abounds here.

It’s cloudy here and cool here with a 50% chance of rain. I think I’m going to walk to the falls. I suppose that’ll guarantee it’ll rain, but I won’t melt.

Maybe they’re happy that they’re full of rain?

That’s hysterical!

Congrats to MusicMan! That is so weird about the diploma, though. What if someone has moved to Mongolia?

My parents occasionally called me by the dog’s name. I never understood it because we were easily distinguished by the fact she actually obeyed commands.

red, congrats on the raise!

Do you still make the drive to get liverwurst?

You had me at “bar.” Or maybe it was “swanky.” Or “dig.”

Not that I’m arguing that she should travel, but that seems harsh. They can’t just pause her care while she’s out of town?

No, because of the way it’s funded, you’re either in or out.

i can’t think that flying would be better.

Jeez, what have you all been gassing on about? Too much for my attention span to delve into.

Went to lunch yesterday with some of the other walking dead inmates. Had some sort of fried chicken sandwich.

Got all involved with the crossword puzzles this morning and almost missed exercise, but made it down there in time.

A gray, thundery morning which now seems to be clearing up a bit. I think we’re in for some strong winds tomorrow. Looks like my kids are getting together on Memorial Day, but I just can’t see driving clear out there on a holiday to eat a sandwich and have to make nice with my ex-wife. Also I-94 is under construction and it takes forever to get there. Color me uninterested. Besides which, we’re all getting together next Saturday for a grandson’s graduation celebration, weather permitting.

We have a few small tomatoes forming on our cherry plant, but nothing on the medium plant as yet. The herbs are holding up well despite being flooded in the heavy rains a few days ago.

Gotta make a grocery run because I can’t think of any excuses not to. Things get ugly when we run out of eggs.

Yep, but (1) found a place a little closer and (2) am stocked up until my vacation ends around 4 July.

Rain is gone, so on to the gym!

Don’t tell the Very Large Array.

:astonished: Why does the Campari and Cynar bottles have to be so tall? I can’t fit them in my cabinet, unless I move a shelf up. And to do that I need a bunch of short stuff to go on the upper shelf.

Painter came today and did the touch up work. So now we can move furniture back to the two rooms. Hubby can’t decide if he wants to move stuff tomorrow and go to a trade show on Sunday, or vice versa. If we go on Saturday, at least other shops will be open, which makes a bit more useful, if we’re going to travel more than an hour for a trade show. But we probably won’t have much time for other shopping anyway. Guess we’ll figure something out.

Laundry is done. Shower aide has come and gone. It’s clouding over again.

Oh, so exciting!

Preach it! I have no idea. But, nonetheless the deed is done.

Hooray!

That’s good.

I don’t suppose any sandwich is that good.

Nah, I’m an only child. So it was a bit jarring.

We are home now and I’ve had a nap, so I am mostly approachable. MusicMan is in fixing a very early dinner. Annie (the real Annie) and I are sitting on the couch.

Had a customer service go-around with an insurance company (3 actually) and a credit card company and all’s well that ends well but it ate a big chunk of day.

My “some assembly required” project took much longer than expected, but with no particular vexation, just lots of fiddly steps. Naturally Amazon is taking their time delivering something I ordered late which is needed now to continue past assembly into loading. Sigh. So my disarray is reduced but not yet eliminated. Maybe by late Sat or Sun for sure I’ll have the part. Hah!

And the other project that needed to dry came out nicely as well.

I’ve been staring vexedly at the glassware but am enjoying doing nothing instead. Thought about going to a baseball game this lovely evening, but the Marlins are away and the minors are having a bring-your-doggie night promotion and you know what I think of pets in public. Not gonna do it. Sat’s game sounds more promising.

Somehow tapas and temperanillo is calling my name instead. Although I probably ought to eat something more substantial.

As to y’all …

Sorry so many of you are enjoying wet and noisy weather today. With luck it’ll use up its energy before the 3-day weekend so we can all picnic in peace.

That is a really cool looking piece. Utterly not my style, but thanks for pointing it out.

@missred: congrats on the raise. Every bit helps.

They do indeed. Oh yeah! You’re doin’ it up proud. I can’t touch that display for sheer overwhelming variety. Clearly the work of a connoisseur. Go doggio!

I’ve got a snazzy wine fridge/cellar, one freezer shelf is full of the booze that benefits from being served at -15C, there’s champagne and white wine in the regular refrigerator, and some more booze and all the wine & cocktail tools, coasters, etc., arrayed atop the wine fridge. Makes a pretty but uncrowded display. The other couple dozen bottles live in the “basement” AKA walk-in utility closet.

Then I have all the specialized glassware, 4 each times 7 kinds. A curio cabinet or bookshelf might be just the thing, but I’m hoping to avoid adding more furniture. We shall see.

“Array” is of course a perfectly cromulent word for a mostly-orderly collection of stuff. e.g. “There was an array of hors d’oeuvres set up for the party”, etc. Or in verb form: “The soldiers’ equipment was arrayed in front of them for the commanding officer’s inspection.”

But nobody says “The playroom was in total disarray after the kids left. So I put everything back into array.”

We got our Nick and Nora glasses Tuesday. I was confused and bought two sets of two. One of the glasses came loose in the box and was cracked. Amazon gave me a refund and told me there’s no need to return the glasses. So I got my money back on one pair, and I have an extra/spare glass in case one of the other breaks for free.

Mrs. L.A. just texted me that she bought Bacardi and limes. I bought ‘ruby red’ grapefruit juice Tuesday. I have a little bottle of Luxardo maraschino cherry liqueur. Mrs. L.A. has some pink sugar crystals for herself. And it’s Friday night. Hemmingway daiquiris for everybody! (Everybody who is at our house. Which is we two. The cats are too young for daiquiris.)

No idea what’s for dinner.

Found out part of the reason AuntB wanted MIL to come - she was planning a big 90th birthday party and she’d invited most of the local family. That’s why she wouldn’t discouraged the road trip. Sheesh…

Supper was sketties. Chillage is now underway.

FCM I misread that as supper was Skittles, and was wondering at your dinner choice. Must admit I have had that for lunch a time or two.
