(Old, thankfully.) Just call it pee-pee ‘cause it’s all your’n MMP

Mornin’ all. Just predawn here. Only 80/27 right now. Feels cooler than that. High today 88/31. Overnight lows in the mid 70s/24-ish upcoming this week. Brrr! No pre-dawn balconatin’ for me. I go outside in the dark to escape the air conditioning and warm up, not to freeze.

Dressed for beach and will go in another hour-ish. The puffies are dense enough that there won’t be good snoozing sun until the sun angle is higher. Skippin’ mah caffinatin’ to encourage sun snoozing.

The rest of my day is empty. As Calvin once said to Hobbes: “The possibilities are endless!!1!”

Sari I think it’s excellent, not scary, that you slept through the routine commotion of Son’s return. Awakening at every little noise or bump is a sign of restless mostly useless sleep.

And as others said, your attitude to the move is just right. It’ll get done when it’s done.

Well, you have to admit it’s the only Georgia state fair in the nation, so it stands to reason they’d go for top billing.

County and state fairs are great fun in a throwback sense. A hokey sign of a simpler time. I enjoyed them with late first wife. Her Ladyship is unimpressed.

That’s the best thing I’ve read all week. Hold them all up to collective ridicule and embarrasment every time they do something stupid or procrastinate themselves into a crack. It’s a terrible management technique, but an excellent way to herd toddlers and to get losers fired. And to clear your own mind of any silly notion to do it for them.

Yaay!!

We see this as a chance to get MIL out of the apartment, plus it’s a hoot with the kids. If not for them, we wouldn’t bother. In fact, most of the years we’ve lived here, we didn’t go. I never went to the state fair when we were kids - it never occurred to my folks to take us, even tho it wasn’t very far from where we lived. My first fair was the Clay County Fair in Florida - we went there several times when Daughter was a kid.

And good for you for not doing everyone else’s work! I’m betting you don’t get paid nearly enough for that crap!

I hear FCD in the shower - I’m next - off to get clean!!

I like fairs because I love farms and farming. I like to see the animals and the prize vegetables and flowers. Sometimes I think I was a farmer in another life, both because of this and because I get up with (and often before) the chickens. The rides, food, and carny stuff don’t interest me.

I haven’t been to one in years, but maybe this year I’ll try to go to the San Benito County Fair. It’s a small, manageable one down in the next county. In past years, we’ve gone early, before the fair opens for the day, and I see all I want to see without fighting crowds.

Oh no! I don’t call them out publicly! That’s just tacky. I have a direct conversation with the offenders, outline when I sent out info, where it can be accessed, and finally what my expectations are going forward. I also let them know that repeat requests from them will need to be routed through their supervisors. Our performance standards have a personal accountability clause as it relates to maintaining access to systems, vehicles, and travel cards.

I am not completely heartless. We are all human and slip up. But, if someone is a repeat offender, I become a little tetchy.

Well, the goddamned knee started leaking again, at a new spot just south of the previous two spots. Had blood running down my shin. I noticed a red area a couple of days ago and thought “ah, crap”, and it turns out I was right. Got a bandaid on it now with antibiotic goo, and a message into the doc. Another setback to the PT program, as the knee just gets stiffer and stiffer.

Cloudy and kinda hoomid. This morning is the dentist to get a new brux appliance. My dentist retired but her husband and daughter are still with the practice. The office is kinda far, 20 miles, so I’m thinking about going to a closer dentist. This evening is the condo board meeting. Yesterday I scored the perfect cherry console table for my entry way. My house is shaping up. I’ve only lived here 18 years……

Morning all. Woke at 6:30am, just said no, and rolled back over until 7:30. Not much on the agenda, gym and bringing in the cans once the trash/recycles get picked up, and soccer practice for the 10-11 year olds should be the most obvious. Still only 70F outside so I’ll leave the windows open for awhile yet (supposed to reach 85F, so eventually the AC will get some work). Did finish paying off all the credit card billings, so my now-miniscule checking account will be happy for the first of the month.

Cookie, sorry to hear about the knee issues, sounds like you needed hippie or FCM in there to do a good sewing-up job. Hope PT can start soon.

Taters, sounds like an exhausting week ahead. And your plan of ‘document and accoutn to their superiors’ sounds like a plan to me. Good luck.

As for County/State fairs, haven’t been to one for probably 20+ years, might drop by one someday if I’m in the area and in the mood for it, but not going to seek one out. Hope the kids love it, FCM. Is MIL able to walk around at it OK?

Sari, I concur with you, sometimes you body says ‘hold it’ and makes you get the rest you need. Hope things continue to keep being less stressful (tell Son he need to be noisoer coming home…

JtC, it is amazing the human race has survived this long, most people get ‘fluffy’ with each other now and then; I love my brother and would give him one of my kidneys if he needed it without hesitation, but 2-3 days at the holidays is enough time together…

OK, fast has been broken, so relaxation and sloth for the balance of the morning and then onto the gym for pedaling quickly to nowhere. Take care all.

i say “skip to the loo”, or “room of water” the former could get an earworm going, the later makes my literal side happy.

Shaggy did slightly better today, thank God. When I got called over to clean up the 100 slide yesterday, he got to run the belt. He’s now mad with power. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
I haven’t been to the State Fair since the early 80s.

“I’m not heartless, just cruel” - dogbutler
At this point, if you went full R. Lee Ermy on a substantial portion of your staff, it would be understandable

Sorry the knee won’t stay together, Cookie

 :birthday: :champagne: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Oopsie!!! :champagne: :birthday:

On the plus side, I think my physician’s assistant may not be there any longer. I had some trust issues with her, and I’m probably not the only one. She no longer appears under my “care team” on my online dashboard, so perhaps she was sent down the road.

Slow day at the orifice. I did just receive a notification of a representative change at one of our member companies. We don’t get their commercial accounts receivable data, but I thought ‘Hm. May as well give it a shot!’ They’re local to me (Bellingham, not Birch Bay), and I’ve been to their store often. I also look to see what they have outside when I go to the Mac store, which is across the street from them. I opened the email with a variant of ‘Hi, neighbour! I know who you are!’ then pasted my form letter about data contribution. Fingers crossed!

Now that’s some good news to (partly) salve the bad.

This. Anyone can make a mistake or become overwhelmed with their own in-basket whose input they do not fully control.

But the people who have learned helplessness with you as their designated savior need to be re-educated mercilously or shown the door. You know which tactics best achieve that goal with the least effort from you. And that is your measure of merit for them. Not best outcome for their in-basket, Not best for their customers, etc., It’s least effort for you in strict compliance with the regs/procedures.

For me, today is a day where I’ve made 4 sets of plans, soon to be 5, and zero of them have survived first contact with reality. It’s all frustrating, but nothing of any real consequence; not even a mini-rant. More of a mini-whine. So I’ll spare you the tiresome details.

If a man was ever to decide to take up day mornin’ drinkin’ in lieu of doing anything today, today was that trigger day.

Happy Birthday Butters!

Happy Birthday Nellie!

Happy Birthday Oopsie!

I’m wearing long pants today! And shoes! Not that I enjoy that sort of thing, but it’s 54f outside. and trying to rain.

Our friends are moving ahead with buying our little house. She was/is a little concerned about our next door neighbor, who is an odd duck, but basically harmless. We just hope the place passes the appraisal. It’s worth more than we’re asking because there’s only one or two other places for sale up there and demand is very high, but the neighbors on the other side sold their essentially identical house for a lot less this year, and a lot less than they originally asked for it, and that may affect the appraisal. We’ll just have to wait and see. We can’t afford to take much less for it. Le sigh.

I have to go to the grocery/pharmacy again this morning and pick up some meds that have been languishing there. I was waiting for a MyChart reply from my PCP. I don’t know if I told you this, but he prescribed Semaglutide (Ozempic) and my co-pay was gonna be $74.00 for, I assume, a month’s supply of injectables. (Dammit, that is too a word.) Well, I’ve been conducting an experiment for the last 4 days of going back on my Glipizide that he took me off of. (He said it didn’t do very much.) It does. My blood glucose is back down where it belongs. I told him what I was doing 2 days ago by MyChart and asked him to renew my Glipizide, but he hasn’t replied yet. I feel that I have to go get that other stuff before it goes back on the shelf.
I went yesterday, but when I went back to the pharmacy counter there was about 20 people waiting in line. The longest line I’ve ever seen there. So I went ahead and got my groceries and went back about 15 minutes later and the line was even longer. So I gave up and came home.

Whew! That was a lot. Now it’s time to hitch up the horses and get to wrangling, or whatever.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

52 is starting out busy (work is slammed today; I’m actually slacking pretty hard right now) but not bad. I’ll be logging off a little early, and I’m looking forward to going out tonight: jazz, friends, chili, sweet potato tots, and cake! :cake:

Actors Luke Wilson and Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) are also 52 today. We share a month and day of birth with some other cool folks:

As feared, the Yankee Entertainment and Sports (YES) network and DirecTV conspired to make last night’s Yankees game unwatchable outside the NY area to those unwilling to pay $100/mo. Luckily, my love for The Wire tempered my disappointment. There is only one more Yankees game on Amazon Prime Video this season, this coming Wednesday evening…I should be able to watch it. :crossed_fingers:

The weather is lovely and I’ve had the windows open all day, but the afternoon sun has started its daily assault on the left-front of the house (it’s mostly sunny and 77°F at just after 2pm) and I’ve had to close some curtains/blinds and turn the fan on in the home office. So far, so good…I don’t want to turn the AC on if I can avoid it!

OK, time for a few comments and then I need to get back to the salt mines…

Niiiiice! And I love those stockings!

Awww, I’m so sorry.

Ugh. :people_hugging:

We’re taking the wheelchair - she can’t walk for long.

Tobias has been asleep about 90 minutes. He was kinda droopy all day, so not a big surprise. Daughter should be here within an hour. Meanwhile, Roxy and I are chilling.

Dafuq? It’s my day off. What’d I do now?

Nuthin’ Darlin’, you’re perfect just the way you are.

Just back from the pharmacy/grocery. Only 2 people in line in front of me this time. Then I got a couple of tamales and some Korean noodle salad from their deli for lunch. I loves me some tamales, although they tend to be variable depending on who made them that day. Not enough chilies today. I put some hatch chili salsa on top. The noodles were just average.

Trying to decide what I want for dinner. Wifey is outta town and prolly won’t be home 'til about 9, so I’m on my own. Maybe a salmon burger and some oven fries?

That’s what everyone says … until the dismembered bodies are discovered.

Congrats on eventual success w the pharmacy. Clearly they have severe staffing problems. Or there’s simply not enough of those stores around vs. your local population.

Good luck w salmonburgers or whatever.

As I said earlier, it’s a slow day at irk. So… I went out and gathered the dirt the mole dug up. Got about ⅓ of a wheelbarrow full of it. (And the mole is not operating in a large area!) Then I mowed the lawn so it will be easier to see when it digs up again. Next, I cut down the seven-or eight-foot tall holly bush next to the house. (Also, the large blackberry bush that was growing under it.) I’ll remove the debris later, as I’m still technically on the clock. Now I’m having a Trader Joe’s mahi-mahi patty sandwich, with cheese, and some Baken-ets.
