(Old, thankfully.) Just call it pee-pee ‘cause it’s all your’n MMP

I’ve been mulling that over. The pharmacy we used up north was part of the same large chain and they usually has 3 or 4 people behind the counter. Our pharmacy we use now usually has 5 or 6 people working.
The differences I’ve observed is that the pharmacy assistants seem to call the pharmacist over to okay almost every drug dispensed, whereas the old pharmacy would only do that if it was something you hadn’t taken before. Also this new pharmacist talks on the phone with customers a lot. I don’t recall our old pharmacist doing that so much. Perhaps rules have changed at a corporate level. Or maybe the customers around here require more hand holding. Or the moon is in the seventh house.
There is only one other pharmacy in town that I know of and they don’t get very good reviews and cost more. That could also be part of it.
I dunno. Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

Howdy Y’all! Mowage did not occur. Instead both of us spent the day pretty much just laid up and nappin’. For me I feel like it’s been a combo of ragweed and residual ick from yestiddy’s covid jab. OYKW has beed dealin’ with residual ick from the jab. Both of us are pretty much over it all right now. Mayhaps an early bedtime will be just the thing to get over it for both of us. We et grilled brats and oven fries for sup, so appetite has definitely not been a problem.

I’m sorry about your friend, baker.

Happy birthday oopsie!

Yay for the new skill shoe!

{{{cookie}}} I know that you’ll be glad when your knee is completely healed.

Stay safe from the hurricane doggio, Moooooooom and oopsie.

Irked, came home, et, napped and am now up for another couple or three hours. TGIT! :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Home from the fair. Roxy was overtired and spent most of the time crying, so that was fun…

When FCD dropped his mom off, they found out that BIL gave out ALL of his personal information to a scammer who claimed to be from Medicare. So now he’s freaking out. We were going to set up freezes on all 3 credit bureaus for him, but we don’t have answers to all the questions they ask. We’ll have to sit with him tomorrow and go thru it, I guess. Dammit.

So much for a pleasant evening. Blech.

Evening all. Got 750 calories pedaled off and coached soccer for an hour, so rewarded myself with a Whopper from Burger King…which they got completely wrong, but I was able to do the repairs and it is now assimilating in my belly. Got the tackleball game on my computer and am catching up with my evening internettin’, and the temperature is down to 71F so another cool night.

FCM, damn scammers; but BIL should have known better (but he obviously doesn’t). Hope the damage is minor.

Swampy, hope you feel better soon.

Flyboy, nothing ventured, nothing gainer; hope it works out favorably.

Bumba, glad you are selling your place to friends…just hope they remain friends after they move in, you never know how satisfied they will be in the long run…

Oopsie, considering how the Yanks are doing this year, maybe not having to watch them so much will be better for you…

OK, back to the tackleball (Giants are tied 3-3 with the 49ers). Take care all.

Well, it’s not your problem to fix. But it is your problem to put up with.

Which suggests talking to them at an off-peak time to see what you can learn about how you can maximize their performance for you. The model I use for those conversations is: “How can I best help you to best help me?”.

I wonder if the actual pharmacist is a micromanager or perfectionist who ends up stymying production because only they can talk to customers correctly and only they can do insurance correctly and only they …

Or maybe everybody else there really is an idiot and the poor beleaguered pharm is just trying to defend their license from the random predations of their clueless untrainable underlings.

I live in dense suburbia and have my choice of several CVS and several Walgreens. Some of each brand is painful to deal with and some of each brand are magic. They all have the same company procedures and computers and … The only thing I can figure is it’s down to hiring and the store & pharm dept. management at that store and their approach to doing the job.

I also think that a store in an area with lots of crappy customers works much less well than one with better customers. There’s a sorta inverted bell curve there. The stores with lots of shoplifting and lots of uneducated nearly broke customers are bad. The stores loaded with demanding entitled Chads and Karens in their new Lexuses are also bad. Somewhere in the middle are the nice decent folks with a brain who can read and follow directions, use the website, have insurance and non-maxed credit cards, etc. That middle group is the happy place. IME IMO YMMV.

Any day an IT guy can chase moles on the company’s nickel is … strange. Unless you’re an exterminator. Lotsa IT folks squash bugs for a living.

But good on ya’ for having the ambition to do something useful besides chew the fat here like I (over)do.

That is a darn shame. Pook kid. And poor you & the rest of the adults!

But did Tobias bleat at the sheep or goats, moo at the cows, or do other adorable kid stuff? You primed us, so you can’t make us wait all night for more cute kidlet news.

Ouch! No good answer to that one. Best of luck. There ought to be a bounty on those folks and no bag limit.

Is BIL getting senile? Time to take away his phone or install a blocker so it never rings except from trusted contacts?

I think that was a net loss for your efforts at weight reduction, but I can sure understand the motivation.

Notwithstanding that uncalled-for and snide crack, I actually came in to say how much I admire the amount of exercise you do get. You do more physical in a day than I’ve been getting in a week for sure, and maybe even in some months. That is a real fountain of youth you’ve tapped into. Good on ya!!1!

If I ever get a backbone transplant so I actually have some, I’ll hope to be doing close to the same thing. At least some.

As to me:
Lazy afternoon here after all my plans went weirdball. I did get our post-retirement dental insurance straightened out. I’ve had all the cosmetic work I need and other than that my teeth are trouble-free. So far. Her Ladyship has weak choppers so crowns, tooth replacements, and whatnot are a regular issue for her. So I got the high-end insurance for both of us, expecting I won’t get much mileage out of mine. Oh well.

Once Her Ladyship returned from her afternoon embroidery class at the library and her retail peregrinations it was soon time to go downstairs for a BBQ food truck event. I got a smoked pastrami sandwich that was amazing. Two great tastes that taste great together. Her Ladyship chose chopped brisket with coleslaw that was good quality & good flavor, but nothing much unique or exciting. Still, them cooking meant we didn’t have to. Yaay!

While I was administrating earlier today I emailed the guy in charge of pilot administration in MIA. To remind him that per our multiple convos before I retired, I need to send them all my issued equipment and they were supposed to send out a FedEx label to drive that shipment. Got a reply an hour later that they’d sent that out late last week. To my company email address that, like all retirees, shuts off at midnight of my last day. Which last day was already two days ago when they sent it to me. They forgot. Oops.

Anyhow they sent me a fresh one to my personal email and all is now well. It was a bit wistful gathering up various keys, badges, computers, etc. that I had carried for years or decades and packing them all up. An advantage of living in a big apartment building is we get a couple hundred amazon, etc., deliveries a day so down in the recycle room is a very nice supply of every possible size & shape of almost new box, padded shipping envelope, bubble wrap, etc. Just take what you need and there’ll be another fresh dumpster load for the taking tomorrow.

Tomorrow I have my quarterly checkup with my PCP and along the way to or fro I’ll hit the local FedEx office and launch that box of goodies back to irk. All that remains after that is to watch the last couple of payroll direct deposits and then it’s over, over, period over, period.

Bedtime soon and so far successfully resisting the urge for a late evening drink. One sleeps better if that’s all done an hour-plus before bed, and one doesn’t want to be up that long. One sleeps even better with zero drinks, and that’s the present score, making any late sip even less good.

The temp has dropped severely, to 74/23 here a bit after 9pm. The first cold snap of Fall has landed. Beaching will be switching to an afternoon activity for the next few months, less a few above-average reprieves in the next 4-6 weeks max.

Cheers all!!

It was on my lunch break. I dug dirt, mowed a lawn, and attacked a holly bush instead of taking my 3-mile walk.

Sounds fun in any case. So many humdrum irk days; it’s the ones with mole battles, an invasion of crickets, or maybe extra cat-shenanigans that we remember.

BIL is mentally handicapped. 'Nuff said.

No, but he did pet a pig and a Clydesdale.

We’ll have to go to the marina and prep the boat for the incoming storm. Glad our slip is in a fairly sheltered inlet.

I started to I had my appointment with the PA. The nurse removed the stitches, so that was good. PA ordered PT, so THAT was good. He also said I got a bone bruise when I fell, and it’ll take another 6-7 weeks to heal. I’m not surprised, as I knew something was up. I return in 6 weeks to see the surgeon this time. Oh, and my range of motion has improved, so yay for those #!@%&* exercises. I then walked to the store to get apples. Not gonna lie: walking hurts, but the only way out of this misery is via the Marquis de Sade Freeway.

I wanted to get my flu shot and Covid dealio tomorrow, but there were no open spots, so I’m going on Monday. swampy, hope you and your honey feel a lot better tomorrow!

cookie, I’m distressed to learn the incision is open and infected AGAIN. You’ve been such a good patient! Do you suppose it’s time to see the surgeon instead of the new PA? Infections are so risky, and it seems to me yours is above even a good PA’s pay grade. Just a thought. It may be little comfort, but I’m cheering you on from here.

FCM, what a shame Roxy was overtired with a 100% chance of rain. Sounds like Tobias had fun, though! I’m also sorry about BIL. Ugh.

Oopsie, I hope your birthday was great! Looks like this was an auspicious day, judging by all those famous people and you.

MetalMouse, I looked up the calories, and subtracting all your gym and soccer calories plus your breathe-and-blink calories, and you probably still came out with a little deficit.

Today I got the email notification that da Jungle was shipping a new tape measure to arrive on Tuesday. I don’t need a new tape measure and I really don’t want a new one, the one I have has worked for me since I was 10 and will continue to do it’s job perfectly until I die and someone throws it out because it is flawed. Le sigh. I’ll put the new one in the tool cabinet for a while and then donate it unopened because I’m sure there is someone out there who really does need a tape measure. (I can’t return it, hubs gets the same notifications and he’s trying to say he’s sorry for doing something wrong yesterday. I know he doesn’t really know just what he did wrong, but he probably won’t mansplain MY tools to me again.)

There were only three of us at Tai Chi today, everyone else was sick. I thought it was interesting that the ones who were there are the only vocal pro-vaxxers in the crowd…

Besides NF (unconfirmed but the symptoms match), I know of three other people in the area who are down with the plague and I understand that the latest version isn’t an easy one. The family next door has measles.

Besides Tai Chi, I spent the day porchinating and noticed that the Grosbeaks are back. They only hang around for a couple of weeks before moving on down the mountain. I’m still seeing Turkey Buzzards which is odd, the nights are getting too cold for them, they should have moved down the mountain by now.

The vet called with the results of VBC’s bloodwork and the results show nothing wrong and everything right. We are baffled, her records show that VBC went from 17.8 lbs to 15.0 lbs in just over a year and cats just don’t do that unless they are sick. She is putting it out in the vet community because this is pretty baffling and our job is to weigh VBC weekly and if the weight loss continues to call the vet and we will find yet another way to spend money on a cat who seems just hunky-dory except for the weight loss.

Damned cats, why the hell did I let myself get hooked on them? All they ever do is worm their way into my heart and then fill it and then get sick and die and leave me with an empty broken heart. Fucking jerks.

Bright Tree, thanks so much for posting the pics, Ollie sure is a cutiepie!

I did notice throw rugs with tassels in one of the pics, those are not recommended for use around cats because some of them (GG) are idiots who will chew the threads off and swallow them and get blocked. I’m hoping that’s not an issue with dogs but I still thought I’d mention it.

I have no doubt that when Harvey comes home, he will think he’s already died and gone to heaven. Have you heard back about the Meet and Greet yet? Will you be able to have Harvey visit Spot’s home before he makes his choice?

LOL!!! It shows that neither of us have a life, you watch kid’s TV and I watch cats

(But if I could have “fluffed” at him while I was walking away, I totally would have done it!)

We used to love to go to the county fair when it was in Prescott, but never got back into the habit when it moved to the new horse race track. I have several blue ribbons from entering the craft show, but then one day I visited my piece and saw that someone had used safety pins through the fancy surface work to hang my blue ribbon and never trusted them with any of my work ever again.

Happy Birthday, oopsie, I hope you got cake!

Well, shit. No advice, but I will continue to swear on your behalf. I hope it gets resolved soon.

At least you have that small consolation.

I hope this doesn’t sound rude, but I think you should not underprice your home because it is a friend. Friends shouldn’t ask friends to lose a significant sum of money due to friendship.

I’m glad you are feeling better but agree that you both should make an early night of it. Picking your own sleep time is one of the best parts of being a retired drain on society!

That sucks mightily. I think it would be a good life lesson for BIL to have to make the phone calls himself while FCD is there to advise him. BIL really does need to know how to do these things himself because you might not always be available to do them for him.

Sounds like you got a much better aerobic workout today!

I’ll bet you will feel SO much better when you can start moving again.

RSV is available as well but I’ve heard that there can be insurance problems. I am going to schedule myself for flu, Covid and RSV next week and hope that I don’t have to lose my shit at the poor medical insurance CSR because they cut my pharmacy coverage off AGAIN. Hubs picked up one of my maintenance meds yesterday and had to pay out of pocket again which has really pissed me off, so I didn’t call about it today. It will be a much more productive call if I wait until tomorrow and smoke a nice fat joint first.

Plus you can now add 2 faster than anyone on the planet!

That has me worried. I’ll have to be extra-cautious. Stupid anti-vaxxers. Sounds like you live next door to some.
if the weight loss continues
Oh, I hope it doesn’t!

I’m not too sure BIL is capable of learning, what with his issues and all.

Happy Thorsday!

Happy Birthday Ooopsie!

My son managed to get in again this morning without waking me. He had to share the cab with two people last night, and it included a stop at a convenience store so one of the riders could get some groceries, and the driver could get some coffee. It kind of cracks me up, it’s so unprofessional. However, this company is very friendly and easy to irk with. You just have to deal with detours to pick up and drop off other people.
He brought me breakfast from his irk, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, and a biscuit.
He even put it all on a plate and nuked it for me after we got home from the park.
His irk encourages them to bring containers to take the leftovers home.

It was very nice at the park this morning. I got there before Barky/Humpy mom so I went on the small side with Lucy/Petey dad. When Barky/Humpy mom got there we went on the big side with her. There was a very nice chow on the big side. Echo tried pushing him around, he ignored her, so she gave up. Later a guy came with a mixed breed that was rescued from being a bait dog. Echo tried her bullshit with him, and he ignored her too. That dog, Charles, was a lot of fun and got the whole pack chasing him. Then they had a bit of a rumble. Poor Misiu rolled over and played dead, so he was at the bottom of the heap. He jumped up and started running to me. I thought he was scared from being at the bottom of the pile on, but he turned around and ran back into the fray.
This is the first time the GR have gotten into a big chase and rumble. They handled it very well.
Echo joined in and that is the first time I’ve seen her get out there and play since Ripple passed.
I hope we see Charlie again, all it takes is the right dog to get in there and get everybody stirred up.

We were there for almost two hours. The GR came home, drank some water, ate some food, and passed out for hours.
They’ve been pretty quiet all day.

Tomorrow is a moving day. I’ve got some stuff packed up and ready to go. I ordered a sectional to be delivered next weekend. I could have gotten one delivered this weekend, but I was back and forth looking at so many. Finally I decided on one and said that this is it, no more looking.
I hope I am doing the right thing. I hate making decisions.

Amazon is so stupid.
The chairs I ordered, that were $438 are now priced at $320. I called and asked if they could refund me the difference. Oh no, they can’t do that! What I have to do is return the chairs and get a refund and then order them again at the new lower price. I said that is really stupid, it is going to cost you money in the shipping fees, it is a waste of time, gas, and resources. Nope, that is their policy, so when I receive the chairs tomorrow, I am to send them back, and reorder them at the lower price.

Sorry about the BIL woes, FCM. That has to be aggravating.
I think phones should come with a button you can push that will send a little bolt of electricity into the ear of the scammer. I suppose that would only irk with landlines though. Maybe a high pitched squeal like fax machines make.
What is this about a storm?
I need to check the news.

Nellie, I am feeling a lot better, thank you.
Getting more sleep, and getting out and about to the park is really helping. Except for pushing the walker through the grass. That is tiring.

Sorry about your knee problems, Cookie.

{{{Cupcakes}}}

Hope you and OYKW feel better soon Swampy

On deaths and important dates.
Poor OAOASO, his grandmother died on his birthday, his mother died on his father’s birthday, and his father died on Father’s Day. His father died from a stroke, in the truck as they were riding home from spending the day on the water. He blamed himself for taking his father out in the heat, but his father had insisted on going out on the water that day. I told him he should be glad his father got to spend his last day doing something he loved, out on the water fishing, with his son and grandsons, rather than sitting home in the AC.
His father’s death was just one of 17 (18 if you count the dog) deaths of family/friends in 19 months time.
That changes a person.

Is Harvey yours now, Doggio?

I’m glad the vet visit put your mind at ease JtC. I hope the blood irk shows nothing serious. Adam has lost a lot of weight since he has gotten older, but he is fine. He kind of needed to lose the weight though.
I thought Swampy would be more like Justin Wilson than Graham Kerr. Although I suspect Swampy is a bit more sophisticated than Justin was.

I don’t know how you stand your job Taters.
I don’t like political stuff in the MMP, but I will add, If Congress is going to shut everything down, they should not get paid during the shutdown. Actions should have consquences, and they should not be exempt from the consequences of their actions. If anything, they should be held more accountable, and should have to suffer more. Like for every day of the shutdown they lose three days pay.
Or tarred and feathered and run out of town.
I’d pay to watch that.

That last time I was at a state (or county) fair was the year I turned 30. My then BF asked me to gt him a beer and when I tried to get it, the barmaid wouldn’s serve me because I looked too young and I didn’t have my ID on me. I said, Lady, I could come across that bar and kiss you. She asked why?, and I said because I just turned 30 and I feel so old.
She let me buy the beer.

Any news on the kitty, BooFae

I feel like I need to go to the top and reread everything, because I feel like I missed a lot.

I live in a state full of them. Us pro-vaxxers are the minority. I usually wait to get DTaP until I get injured enough to think I need a tetanus shot because who would think they needed a whooping cough shot? Apparently that’s a thing as well so I got mine when I got my last Covid jab.

I agree, but there is going to come a time when he has to go it alone and even just having some familiarity about the process could help.

I like his irk culture and think he is a very good son.

I’m really happy for you, happy pets make happy owners and you deserve and work for happy pets.

And maybe some really pricey dining room chairs

I have had the same issue with Amazon over clothing (pants with decent pockets to be specific). It is such a waste of shipping materials, but at least our friends in brown will keep getting paid.

Pay per view could save the Country’s budget!

Up, cafffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

If your neighbor has more than 3 new sheds in their backyard, it’s a dead giveaway that they are a serial killer.

I still wait. I hope Harvey gets to visit.
< waits impatiently >

So far it looks like TD16 will just give me light rain.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 and N.O.S. for the day. Feelin’ much better today. We went to bed early and I woke up a bit ago feelin’ like my usual slothful self. Thus, mowage will occur today. Then sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, day drinkin’ and other slothful activities shall resume. I assume that OYKW will be feelin’ much better as well when he awakes. Awake by nine a.m. is his usual wont. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit, just cause.

Everyone in the path of the tropical storm take care.

sari good luck with the movin’ this weekend. Glad the youngun’s had a good time at the park. Glad you enjoyed it as well.

MOOOOOOM hope FCD is able to walk BIL through whatever is needed and that the damage is minimal.

Nellie glad a plan is in place for PT and that your ROM has improved.

JtC hope the vet can figure out what is wrong with VBC soonest.

doggio hope you get the visit with Harvey soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly day. Then, onward to mowage and into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Unfortunately, his parents coddled and shielded him for most of his life, and now at 63, and with his mental and emotional issues (and frequent refusal to take his meds) there’s no way he’ll learn to do important things for himself. So the choice is to help him or let him screw himself for the rest of his life. He will never function on his own.

Granted, in the 60s, medical and education professionals were less knowledgeable about what mentally disabled folks could and couldn’t do or learn to do, so he started at a disadvantage anyway. But the damage is done and we deal with what we must. My big fear is that FCD will die before his brother and I’ll be left to deal - there is literally no one else. I will find someone else, in the county or otherwise - I can’t do it.

sari - will you be close enough to be able to continue at the dog park after you move?

That was my reaction when we got the email from the marina about securing all boats. #16 kinda snuck up on me. Now I know why the channel 7 weather guessers were saying we could get 3-4" of rain this weekend.

First plan for today is installing the mailbox/table assembly at the school, followed by a trip to the marina. Then to the apartment to help BIL sort out the mess, if he’ll cooperate. Then when we get home, I really should mow the back yard before the rain arrives.

I suspect this will be a stay-at-home-and-crochet weekend. Hope we don’t lose power - then we lose water. I should fill the bathtub with water for flushing, just in case. Stoopit storm.

All righty then - Happy Firday. Dammit.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 16c/60f here with rain showers. Weather app says “Hey, assbutt! It’s just a little fucking drizzle. Nothing to freak thh fuck out about.” It was bright and shiny when I went out earlier, and now it’s just dull but no sign of any rain yet.

Happy birthday, Oopsie!

sari I hope the move goes smoothly and everything gets to where it needs to be. Your son’s irkplace sounds good, especially if they are encouraging staff to take leftovers home!

Moooom fingers crossed FCD manages to sort things out with BIL, and damage can be kept to a minimum.

JtC we have no news on the stray kitty, I don’t really expect to hear anything back from the vet since it’s not our cat and we have already said we can’t take it on. Hopefully they will be able to treat him, and eventually find somewhere for him to go. I hope yours can find out what’s happening with VBC too, our Shadow lost weight steadily although a lot of that was attributed to his age and relative lack of activity, now he’s been diagnosed with thyroid stuff and his meds have caused him to gain a little bit.

Swampy glad to hear that you and OYKW are feeling better after being shot! I found out that the covid boosters aren’t being offered in my age group this year, neither will we get free flu shots from the NHS. It looks like I can have both jabs if I pay for them, and one of our big pharmacy chains has a vaccination clinic in-store now so I can book to get them both done.

Doggio any news on Harvey yet? We are keeping fingers, toes and paws crossed!

Taters good for you on the irk situation - you can’t keep doing everyone’s work for them and clearing up after them, especially not if you’ve already gone to the trouble of documenting everything so that they can do it themselves.

Another day off for me, we are on our second strike day so I am not at irk and also not going to campus to stand on a picket line. I could, but then again it will cost me to get there and back, and I can support the strike just as easily with the withdrawal of labour for two days. Our strikers made it on to the local news yesterday so hopefully that will shame the university into coming back to negotiations.

I have spent my morning on the intertoobz, now it’s time to finish my cuppa and get to the gym!

Mornin’ all!!

Read everything and as usual I really can’t say it better than Dear Swampy has.

Nellie’s progress on the knee is the most heartening, since there’s been so little good news on that front recently. And Sari may not have noticed how much brighter things are for her than 2 weeks ago but the difference in your tone of post is night and day. Hooray!!

You both get huge awards for having plugged along gamely for seemingly no result until you got the immovable obstacles moving your way.

I’m not @Bumbazine, but I took that rather as their area doesn’t have a lot of sales, and the last one or two have been at knockdown prices, which is hurting their comps. Not that they were selling to their friends at a sweetheart price.

I dealt with that in my condo building. One bad sale by a lazy or desperate seller to a vulture speculator buyer could trash the comps for the next 10 sales and cost those sellers 100K each or more until they collectively dragged the comps upwards again. Then somebody else would die or get in a financial crack and have a lazy or distress sale. Holding up the comps around there was like Sisyphus.

Although I certainly agree with Jane’s contention. I’d never sell sweetheart to friends. Family maybe. I’ve certainly given good but unneeded cars for free to young extended family members in need . “One dollar and other good and valuable consideration” as the lawyers say. Houses, even modest ones, are a big hunk of people’s assets and ought not be sweethearted without a clear eyed understanding of just how much value is being given to who from whom. (to whom from who? English is hard).

As to me:
Went to bed timely, got up 8+ hours later right at dawn, slipped on clothes and went downstairs to retrieve some padding for my equipment box. The janitorial crew was already hauling out the trash but hadn’t gotten to the stash I’d been coveting since last night. Score! Anyhow, box is now padded, sealed and labeled, needing only to be dropped off at FedEx later.

Balconatin’, caffinatin’ and MMPin’ be the next order of the day. As predicted it’s 75/24 and just slightly cool feeling. I was surprised it didn’t feel cooler to me. Glad I’m wearing my sweatpants over my shorts, but don’t need the top over my t-shirt. Now 90 minutes post dawn the sun is blinding reflecting off the sea, which is a pretty blue with silver sparkles where it’s not molten glowing gold. Puffies here and there over the ocean, but inland is clear & blue. I see gathering thunderstorms in the distant south. Another tropical day in a tropical place.

In an hourish shall be shevelment, food, then off to the PCP for a scolding.

My A1C is up slightly, 5.9 versus 5.7. So now into the pre-diabetic range despite my actual diabetic status. In a glass half-full sense I’m doing a hell of a job controlling it here 11 years after initial diagnosis. In a glass half-empty sense, I’m starting to lose that control. The good news is that I’ve been rather lax with my spoon control these last 3 months and I can easily stuff that genie back in it’s bottle. The bad news is I really need to do that. As the Mumpers all know, will power and ambition have not been much my strong suits of late. We shall see.

My cholesterol is similar. It’s been well controlled for years but jumping around a bit test to test and has now started pushing the boundaries of “needs action”. It’s not real obvious to me how much spoon control can affect that but I’ve certainly been eating a diet high(er) in saturated fat than historically.

She’s a very whole-person (not to say “holistic”, which is quackery) doc, and isn’t just treating the test results. It’s hard to tease out what is age & inevitable wear and tear vs what’s acceptable hedonism vs what it’s medically or behaviorally appropriate to address. The fact that now, for the first time since age 16, I have the FAA’s nose out of my medical care opens fresh avenues.

I’ll also be asking her about the RSV shot. I can’t imagine she’ll say no; she’s a fan of all immunizations. Losing a sizeable fraction of your senior patients to COVID will do that to a doc. But acting after advice is always better to acting before advice. So I expect flu, new COVID, and RSV in my near future, spaced out appropriately. As best I can tell, availability of vax and appointments is unlimited around here. My fellow Floridiots don’t seem too ruffled about this stuff. More for me!

Her Ladyship awoke with a raging case of conjunctivitis yesterday and ended up at her doc as a walk-in. So we’re checking out our new retiree Part D benefits bright and early. Speaking of which, one more task for today’s PCP visit is to have her write new scrips for all my chronic meds to my new mail-in provider. Oh Bother. Though more for her than me.

Happy Firday and to all a good day!

Cheers & hugs all!

Morning all. I have my flu shot at 11:00am today and scheduled my COVID booster for 3:00Pm on Monday, so those are taken care of. Don’t know much about this RSV vaccine, will look into it and maybe add it to the list if necessary. Do some shopping at Kroger while I’m out and try to get the swimming and sauna in, and that should take care of most of my activity for the day. Another nice one, 65F how going to about 82F and none of the storms that FCM and others up in the NE are facing are anywhere close to here. Might have to water the yard one more time this season.

Thank you. My goal for the past two years has been to lose weight, and that has been pretty successful, so I think in 2024 I’ll try to improve my conditioning too, get with the gym folks and try to do something organized rather than just what I’m comfortable with. Don’t know if I’ll follow-through, but hey, living forever is not easy…

Yeah, I tend to forget that; mea culpa. But I think you are wise to look ahead as you and FCD age for options for BIL; are there any group homes or things like that in your area? Hope you and all ride out the storm with minimal hassles.

nellie, good news on your improvement. And I do try counting calories, but I’m not a fanatic about it; dropping regular Pepsi in favor of Diet/Pepsi Zero has probably cut nearly 1,500-2,000 calories out of my weekly diet this year (and I’ve even begun to like it). Stay well, I worry about my brother and SIL (they are both PhD’s but neither believes in the COVID vaccines…weird).

JtC, it is kinda sweet that husband is trying to make amends, clumsy and wrong-headed as it may be. And same advice I gave nellie above, take care of yourself. And extra scritches sent to VBC and a warning that losing too much weight too fast is not good for humans or felines.

Sari, I echo Pilot’s note that things seem to be slowly but increasingly brighter about your place. I hope it continues and the new house and all works great for you and Sah-son and the canines. And wow, never aware the prices could change that fast, and boo on Amazon for not doing the smart thing.

swampy, glad you are feeling better.

boo fae, enjoy your strike day off.

OK, need to finish the Firday internettin’ and then dress appropriately for shots and shopping. Take care all.
