(Old) The Apocalyptic MMP

There were a buncha funnies tonight, but I didn’t write 'em down, so the only one I remember is:

SHE called in the order: pepperoni and bacon.
HE was driving when they came to pick up; she was riding shotgun.
I confirmed the order, as she was handing her card over to him.

The guy turns to her and says, “Babe, you didn’t get no mushrooms on it?”

She said, with the sternest most no-nonsense voice I’ve heard in a long time, “I ordered what I wanted, now give her the card!!”

I didn’t say it, but inside, I was like, “Dude. Gimme the card. She ain’t playin’ tonight.”

And I don’t know what he did wrong earlier, but guessing by her voice, he is not getting any fun time tonight. He’ll be lucky to get a slice of cold pizza.
Without mushrooms.

Well, hey there, sugarplum!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and cloudy. Weather app says “There are a fucking shit ton of clouds in the sky. That’s about fucking it.” Yes, definitely cloudy here but there’s a glimmer of sun too, and no rain in the forecast which is fine by me.

My commute home wasn’t too bad, the train from campus was late but not by enough that I missed my connection in the Big City Station. Got home and washed up my food tubs, fed the cats, cleaned the litter trays, then made my breakfast for today so it could sit in the fridge overnight and do its thing.

This morning’s trip to campus was not too bad either. The bus was on time, the roads were fairly quiet, saw the nice train pulling into the station as I was walking over the road bridge so I walked a bit faster and was able to get on said nice train which then obligingly pulled out of the station a couple of minutes late. Connecting train at Big City Station was already at the platform when I arrived after a quick scuttle from the opposite side of the station, today it was 3 carriages instead of 6. Full of schoolies too, so not a pleasant journey but thankfully it’s only 10 minutes until I can escape the uncaged troupe of circus monkeys.

Good morning! Annie and I are just chilling here on the couch. It’s a bit too early for breakfast yet. I’ve got PT at 8:30 and I don’t want to eat now and be starving by the time that I get there. Otherwise today I MUST put away laundry. My wardrobe choices are getting increasingly creative.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74. We have no need or desire to be anywhere today. YAY! Sup shall be BLTs and oven fries due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’. There will be no fryin’ of bacon while nekkid.

shoe hope you are less sneezy today.

MG howdy! Yay for new 'puter. Glad you got to see the eclipse from your yahd. I got to do that in 2017. 'Twas nice to just stand outside.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

It’s Friday evening here. New school year. This is the end of the first week of classes. There were all pretty good. This is my second year at this school and I’ve got a better feel for the students now.

The other English teacher told me that my new sixth grade class was wild and out of control, but my reputation must have proceeded me because they have been nothing but angels. In fact, we could play a game today and they were well behaved.

That teacher had taught the whole school before I came and their English level is terrible. I’m trying to turn this around. It’s a good challenge.

SenWife and SenSon are still in Taiwan and will return Sunday. SenGirl and I have had fun while we’ve been alone.

No, she intends to blow them up old school. I’m thinking I’ll end up blowing them up, but we shall see.

It is a nice shop, but with the addition of FIL’s woodshop, it’s gotten crowded. I know my daughter looks in there and wonders what she’s going to do when we’re gone… In fact, I wonder the same thing should FCD predecease me.

Welcome back!!! Where ya been hiding?!?!?

Similar assumption when you drive a small car in the land of pick-up trucks. When I still had my Scion, I often felt invisible to the good ol’ boys in the duallies.

I woke not hearing rain and I thought the storm passed us by. Nope - apparently Mel really knocked me out because it’s definitely wet out there. So yay for rain!

Before Mel did his job, I watched My Favorite Year on TCM. I do love that movie!! And it’s not just because it takes place in my birth year. Can’t believe it’s 42 years old!!! Anyway, if you haven’t seen it, I think you should.

It’s laundry day. Not sure what else. For a brief moment yesterday, FCD wanted to go to the Bay Bridge boat show this weekend. Then he bemoaned the lack of a spring sailboat show in Annapolis. Well, he was mistaken so we’ll go there instead. It’s a shorter drive with more emphasis on boat stuff and less on fishing, so even tho we no longer have a sailboat, much still applies. MIL will go visit BIL while we’re gone.

Maybe I’ll have some clay time this afternoon. We shall see.

Happy Firday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. No plans on the agenda apart from laundry.

Nap with Spot

Good morning!

It’s 47 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and it’s dark and cloudy. The expected high temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and later, we’ll see partial clearing. Kind of a dull day, weatherwise.

FCM, some lucky person will want to purchase all those tools. My son-in-law bought many expensive wood shop tools from a lady whose husband had passed. High-quality tools are always in demand, especially because some are very expensive.

Also, I’m glad you and FCD are getting another outing and a bit of a break.

kitten mitten, that sounds like a really long day of trudging. I hope all the test results are good!

To me, it seems people aren’t paying attention in general, no matter the size of their vehicle or the vehicles around them. I see dumbassery every day and drive very defensively. Out my way, running solid red lights (like five cars into green for opposing traffic) is an everyday thing. I was nearly creamed by a semi who ran a red light, and I was the seventh car to drive across the intersection. I would have been toast if the guy before me had not sped up. Had to pull over for a minute after that close call.

I managed to have a day without a single meeting yesterday. They were all canceled for various reasons. I didn’t even have to talk to anyone via Teams or phone yesterday. Of course, there were numerous emails and Teams messages, but overall, there was no talking. I managed to finish some work, but the day was still long. Today is my supposed short day, but we’ll see what happens.

Other than weekend chores, I don’t have any plans for the weekend. I may or may not visit the nursery for some plants, but it’s pretty much weather-dependent. I need to visit the mall to purchase some new boulder holders. I hate trying on and purchasing those things. They all fit differently and it’s just a PITA.

Well, I should finish my coffee and finish loading the dishwasher. I hope everyone has a good, or at least smooth day.

Oh yeah, that is a goodie: “I’m not an actor, I’m a movie star!!” Just perfect casting with Peter O’Toole.

Enjoy the boats, looks like a pretty easy drive, not having to go through DC.

Taters, it’s actually fairly safe driving around here, I was worried when they put in a roundabout/circle near me that there would be accidents every day but the folks adapted to it quickly and haven’t had a problem yet.

Yes, Ma’am…

shoe, loved that story.

boo fae, glad your train timing was good. And a carriage full of school kids…around here it’s the school bus drivers I feel for.

Sensei, sometimes having a reputation can be worth a lot; hope you can make a difference.

Up at 7am, the weather is nice for a change and hopefully will dry out the soccer fields for Saturday. On the bad side, my last two apples have been raided and signs point to a rodent incursion, so I guess I need to look for some mouse traps and put the foodstuffs out of reach for awhile. First ones I’ve had in 5-6 years, so not so bad. If only a MMP’er with cats lived closer…

OK, onward into the day. Have a good Firday all.

Please tell me that’s not your personal home workshop or I’ll just kill myself now.

Hooray!!!

Sounds like it would be safer if I confirmed that for ya…

Ok, I’ve been to Pt for my foot/feet and now I have come straight back home skipping all of my other errands because my knee hurts like hell so I’m sitting here with ice on it while Annie and I sample some string cheese.

I’m not even in your time zone (I don’t think), unfortunately. If you were in range, I’m sure Buddy would enjoy some hunting. IIRC, you do prefer dogs. Know anyone with a dachshund or small terrier?

Maybe a rat terrier.

Don’t be rash. It was my husband’s business until he retired. Now it’s his playroom.

Ok, someone try to explain this to me. It’s laundry day and I changed the sheets on MIL’s bed. We talked about it and I told her which sheets I put on the bed. She decided to lie down for a bit and went back to her room. She saw the newly made bed and decided she couldn’t mess it up so she came back out to nap on the couch.

Honest to goodness I don’t understand…

Anyway, first load in the dryer, second in the washer.

Taters, days without meetings are heaven on earth. I’ve put myself on out of office all day today and so far have just 3 meetings, two of which were scheduled well before today, so I don’t mind going and one of which is with my boss, who is ineffective but likeable. I’m trying not to get too excited about the prospect of eating lunch before 3 today.

I’ve been voluntold at work to go schmooze at a conference with clients next month. As a lifelong introvert, I hate talking with people I don’t know in person and as an added “bonus,” there will be politicians there whose views I strongly disagree with. I guess it’s good practice doing…something.

Speaking of lunch, I’m really hungry. I’ve been trying to cut out as much saturated fat as possible (i.e., cheese, cream, most animal products) in favor of plants and it turns out, saturated fats are very filling. I’m told that plant-based diets are even moreso, but I’ve yet to experience that. Hopefully that will change.

Going to Lowe’s or TSC for some plants is on the agenda this weekend for me too, now that I have my car back.

A visit from Nelson may be in order. :stuck_out_tongue:

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels laundered and put away, a load of jeans in the dryer, a load of clothes in the wash and about half of the houseirk complete. Fixing to do the sweeping / vacuuming and make the week’s menu / grocery list. After grocery shopping, Nelson will get some dog park time.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up and caffeinating. Going into town today to hopefully look at an apartment.

‘Boobytrap’ spelled backwards is ‘partyboob’.

That is all.

:thinking::joy::laughing:

Nice!

And a good afternoon all. Shopping is done, have three no-kill traps ready to bait (I’ve used glue traps before and call me an old softy, but I don’t like see dead rodents having nearly torn themselves apart on glue traps, so we’ll try a humane solution at first). Crackers and peanut butter will be the bait. I only saw the signs in one location so it may have been a quick in-and-out raid, but precautions will be taken.

Also bought wieners and hot dog buns for the first time in a while, turns out the calorie count is not as bad as I thought (the other bad stuff like fat and sodium are present, but then they are in all my edibles) so I’ll see how it goes. About an hour from now and I’ll head off to the gym to get my backstroking done, then soccer (hopefully) will take up time tomorrow.

FCM, I occasionally don;t want to mess up clean sheets and a made-up bed before the evening, just doesn’t look right to me. OF course I avoid this never making up my bed in the first place…

talkie, been at a few of those conferences, just smile politely and say as little as possible and you’ll make it through just fine.

Emily, good luck on the apartment.

OK, do a couple more things and then on to swimming time.
