(Old) The Apocalyptic MMP

Not a ceiling fan.  That would be mounted and wired in a permanent way.

I guess I don’t really know, then, other than that at some point in the design of this hotel, someone surely anticipated that there would be something to be mounted there that would need power.

A television, perhaps? Is this near a place where it might have ever made sense to mount a TV?

I had a slightly better brunch than Spot

(and I’m sure Monkey has had the odd “protein supplement” on his outdoor adventures. :stuck_out_tongue: )

That makes the most sense.

Having watched him nail a dragonfly in 4-D like it was nuthin’, I have no doubt.

Howdy Y’all! I actually did do sump’n that could count as productive today. I was on a call with our sorta kinda Interim Priest (he actually retired as Priest in 2008, but is helpin’ us out), and our Administrative Assistant/Other Verger for an hour this mornin’ to discuss an up comin’ book study group (of which I have agreed to facilitate bein’ as I recommended the book we will use) and some other church related stuff. That was followed by a sammich N.O.L. and nappage. Wore me out it did! Then I downloaded the book from Amazon to my ipad and have read two chapters. Not too bad so far for a religious type book. Day drinkin’ (bourbon and ginger ale) also got accomplished. 'Tis windy out, but the weather is pleasant so we day drank out by the cee-mint pond and I read out there as well. So nice to click on the kindle app on my ipad and voila! book appears!

Sticky_Buns hope you’ve been able to resolve the terlet dilemna. ICK!

Red yay on gettin’ your ride back!

Taters Buster sounds like a trip. I love the description of how he feels so proud of himself. Yay on the approval for a new position.

sari hope you can convince your son to go to the doc. None of us likes to do that, but seems like he needs just that right now.

BooFae veggin’ out until food is provided sounds like a fun way to lead life.

MOOOOOOM here’s hopin’ MIL and FCD can come to understand the wisdom of hospice. Hospice was truly a wonderful thing for my own mom in her last weeks. Truthfully, we should have started that a few months sooner than we did. Hospice folk are some of the most compassionate, understandin’, and helpful people for both the person in Hospice and the family. Hard to believe RoxStar is almost six!

Cookie yay for a pain free night of sleep!

So you went landfill diving? (no shame, I have pieces that came from beside the dumpster in various residences).

Perhaps something like this could be used (no giggling like a 9 year old). My sister used to keep several of these in her classroom to blow up a lot of balloons.

I hope that the terlit isn’t too expensive to fix sticky buns.

Irked, came home in the rain, so no dog park trip for Nelson until tomorrow. TGIT!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

And a good late afternoon all. Been to the gym and watched some soccer on TV and…that’s about it (oh, did get the mail and brought the garbage can in). Will be fixing ham-n-cheesers here in a little bit, but been snacking so not really hungry yet. Rain has been on-and-off, soccer got cancelled for the 4th day in a row, so more time at home with temptations abounding. Back into the 50’sF, so hopefully the better weather predicted for tomorrow will materialize.

verwirrt, normally we get to choose the MMP name for you, but I’m amenable if everyone else is. And worrying about it ain’t going to get it done; sleep will help you work things out. But look forward to that long nap, anyway.

Well, as long as he doesn’t try to take on a pack of Reavers… reference to a movie I love, “Serenity” based on the series I love “Firefly”

shoe, I don’t have a pollen allergy, hope you can take something to ease it.

FCM, that’s quite a workspace you and FCD have there; I remember a couple years ago when it was just getting built.

swampy, hope the book study group turns into a worthwhile endeavor.

All right then, need to look into the evenin repast, take care all.

Feeling depressed for no reason. Making dorito salad for supper.
Thinking of you mumpers.

Hello. I’m on my new computer.

I saw the eclipse from my yard.

Choose away! I’m easy.

Believe me, if I could make my brain shut up, I would. It’s not even worry so much as amplifying the complexity of things. Which is annoying enough when it’s not that complex, but when it’s already a little complex, my stupid brain dials it up (this one goes to 11).

I’m sorry to hear this. And I am not trying to make a joke at your expense, but I mean both parts.

I hope that you feel better soon, truly. Depression sucks.

:waving excitedly:

Hello!!!

Well, the good news here is that I got the knob to turn and the water is off to the toilet upstairs. The bad news is that the plumber can’t make it here until Monday. In other, better news, I ran a little art group this afternoon and they did a really nice job. We played with clay and most of us made dogs while one of us made an elephant. Since then I’ve been home and had a nap. Now I’m thinking about doing some work whilst the poodle and I watch The Amazing Spider-Man or maybe Matlock if my mom decides to stay in the room.

Welcome back, I’ve been thinking about you.

So lucky to see it from your own back yard, I drove two days (one way) to see it.

Lets focus on the good news, hurray for that. I hope the repair isn’t too costly.

Our water went out just as hubs was getting into the shower this morning. He was still adjusting the water when it went off which I thought was great timing. A minute later and he would have been covered with soap. It came back on half an hour later, so he had time to get his shower before having his beard trimmed.

Have you considered taking up handwork of some sort? You can’t snack when your hands are busy and most textile arts require clean hands so you can’t even have a bowl of salted nuts at hand.

People used to dump all sorts of large items in the work dumpster over the weekend, so a co-worker and I would always go out and check out the latest offerings on Mondays. The dumpster was only ever used for “clean” trash and not food waste or stuff like that, so I had no concerns about jumping in.

It does indeed. It isn’t in a place where I would hang a TV, but I’m not a mega-corp hotel decorator.

One of the very first things I learned when I started riding motorcycles was that just the act of throwing my leg over the saddle was enough to turn me invisible. I was a very defensive driver before cell phones happened, my paranoia jumped to higher levels when that happened.

Spring is here! There are some 50ft pines in the yard behind us and when the wind blows, the clouds of pollen look like smoke. Every state I’ve been in this last month is showing color, it’s the sufferin’ time of year again :sob:

I got that reference!

Got quite a bit done tonight, I moved the couch and cleared the temporary folding table. There is always danger that a temporary table could become a permanent table. It has been up for nearly 2 months after it finished its original unfolded task.

Had an Old Cuban for evening cocktails(got to use up that champagne somehow). Having Smoked Paprika Chicken with cheesy potatoes with green beans.

: waves back :

Well, the towels and stand were from Tar-Jay. But I freely grab from the local Freecycle zone.

“I never shot anyone before.”
" I was there, son. I’m fair sure you haven’t shot anyone yet."

I learned the same thing with both bicycles and motorcycles. When I ride, I always assume that people in 4+ wheels don’t even know I’m there.

Any time that the trees are doing something glorious, chances are that a lot of us are sneezing, wheezing and generally miserable. shoe, we just finished pine, fir and cedar season here, so it’s likely going on ~500 miles north of here now. Gesundheit!

Yay on the new computer emily!

I finished up this year’s edition of the family cookbook this evening. They will go to my niece Ana (hence a title change) and my cousin’s granddaughter Anna, who both established post college households this year. Tomorrow, I’ll do the bookplates and a nice card to go with each, then package Ana’s up for mailing and plan a lunch date with Anna (she’s local) to give her hers.

I just misread a marquee that read ‘The Subterraneans’ as ‘The Super Hyenas’. Wine may have been involved.

Are you going to use squirrel or rabbit or pheasant? Or possibly possum might work. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Bella sure has: firefly, fly, cicada, probably some others that I’m not sure of. She’s tried for a honeybee but our daughter ran interference for the bee.

Marathon at the hospital today: left at 9am for weekly appt at the Stem Cell Transplant Clinic where they drew blood for labs then walked close to 1/4 mile to get to the Inhalation Therapy Clinic (huge hospital). I’ve had a lot of friends text me, particularly on Easter, that I hadn’t yet replied to. So, while Hubs was undergoing inhalation therapy, I texted almost everyone back. I was so intent on doing so that I hadn’t heard anything on the tv that was on. When Hubs came out of the inhalation booth, he asked me what The Juice had died from. I had no idea that OJ had died but I had wondered why the therapist had brought up the Bronco chase to me. Well, now it all made sense. We had an hour before we had to be to the next appt which was at Nuclear Medicine. (I had brought a lot of food so we had sandwiches and mandarin oranges in the hallway.) This time we only had to walk about 1/8 mile. This walk took us past the Hospital Main entrance so I got a wheelchair for Hubs; up to this point he had been using his walker but had reached his limit. At Nuclear Medicine they drew some blood, made it radioactive, reinjected it then took a lot of images of his heart, ventricles and whatever else is cardiac related. Then we were back to the Stem Cell Transplant Clinic where all of his lab results were finally in. Only one of his meds changed dosage. We finally returned home shortly after 4pm.

Mrs. L.A. and I have separate bedrooms. We have different schedules, and one of us snores. Goo usually sleeps with me, and Abbey has been sleeping with ‘Mom’. Abbey’s been sleeping in the living room lately. Mrs. L.A. said she hopes that that doesn’t mean one of her patients is going to die. See, the patient has a female cat named Fluffy, and she wants Mrs. L.A. (and me) to adopt her when she dies. (Adopt the cat when the patient dies; not adopt the patient when the cat dies.) Fluffy apparently likes men; but if we adopt her, I’ll be sharing a house with four females!

Well, I do have to do a few hand jobs now and then…(I’m a baaaaaaaaad boy…)

cat glove, well, at least you got your aerobic exercise in. Hope all the testing is only good news.

MG!!! Long time no see! A most gentlemanly and heartfelt tacklehug.

Sticky Buns, plumbing problems, I know them. Hope it’s a simple (read: cheap) fix.

Outside of dinner and watching a lot of European soccer highlights, nothing much has been accomplished. Off to bed here in a little bit. Catch you all on Firday.

You! To the corner right now!

Me or him?
