Never put an oatmeal cookie in a salad!
I laundered, beered, beagled, napped. I also grabbed a few things I needed from the rich people’s Aldi.
I made sure I petted all of them there. Also, a wheelchair beagle causes all sort of hilarious tripping chaos.
I’d just like to find a dog that doesn’t run off/foster fail out from under me/ go batshit insane and eat my mattress.
.
That’s not ideal.
Well that will startle the neighbors less than a Navy Colt.
Interesting mental image, I admit.
Dinner has been dined. We had rib-eye steaks on the barbie, and we shared a baked potato (margarine, salt, & pepper – we’re surprisingly out of sour cream). We had cabernet sauvignon with dinner, and now we’re having Evan Williams 100 Proof Kentucky Bourbon.
Mrs. L.A. discovered that after she cut the barn door, it didn’t fit on the rail. I could have told her to measure, then cut the door, and then put up the rail, but she put the rail up first. Now she’s (we’re) going to have to move the rail up an inch or so.
Just finished making me cake at my neighbors.
About to have my spaghetti for supper.
I found some good books at a different library.
Debunked by Casey Lytle.
The Maga Diaries by Tina Nguyen.
Go Home for Dinner-Mike Pence…
Cool Food by Robert Downey Jr.
One of my doctors taught me to make slush bag with water and rubbing alcohol which I like better than ice. Mix two parts water to one part rubbing alcohol in a freezer bag. Seal the bag. Put the sealed bag into another bag and seal that one as well. Freeze for a couple of hours and always wrap in a towel before use.
I used to like the State Fair here, but like yours…it has become too overpriced and crowded. Local community fairs are more my speed nowadays.
Ya got any updated pics???
I’m so sorry Mr. Brown is in pain. Would it maybe help if he switched to brandy? (Distilled wine instead of a grain liquor?)
Back to the corner, you!

One down, 5 to go.
Very nice and they will match your carpet now

We got back, exhausted and ready to collapse, Wednesday night.
This whole getting old thing really sucks doesn’t it? I’m still recovering too.
Coming home to cat pee isn’t the greatest thing, but at least she uses the mat instead of finding random places through the house.

I feel this in my soul. When Mr. L was comparing Medicare plans, he set up a TV tray in the living room two inches in front of our existing side table, which is nestled between our chairs. Two. Years. Ago. Now it’s where we sort the mail.
I sympathize so much. Hubs keeps trying to turn half of our largish dining table into a storage area. In years past, I would sigh and ignore it. Now I put everything on his desk so he has to deal with it before getting to his keyboard.
Our yard is looking very unkempt as well. I’ve gotten the side of the house I can’t see weeded and next I will outside the fence to the side I can’t see. I’ve learned that I have to leave the places I can see until last because if I do them first, I “forget” to deal with the places I can’t see.
I have designated one of the places I can’t see as “back to nature” but I will probably clean that up when we put this place up for sale.

It now looks like the load in will go better than expected.
Oh hurray! It’s so much nicer to have someone else do the lifting!
Grandpa taught me how to re-cane chairs way back when. Is it even possible to buy the cane nowadays? It seems like such a lost skill.

I have a sinus infection.
I am so sorry. It truly is the sufferin’ time of year.

On tax day. Good job, me.
The post office is ready for crowds, they know that almost everyone procrastinates so put extra staff in place. You should be fine. Try to get there early because many of the serious procrastinators will just be panicking then.

I thought you meant the girls were the miscreants you were trying to get into humane mouse traps. Man, they play soccer ROUGH down there!
12 years old is just about when puberty starts for many girls. I can understand wanting to trap them and relocate them somewhere quieter.

JtC, I’m not swampy but I’ve thought about a air fryer at times, but I just don’t cook enough to make it worth my while.
Do be sure to look at the reviews before impulse buying one, we weren’t happy with our first one but this one is great.

Let’s see you hold totally still when you have 13 pounds of cat digging 4 square inches of paws into you.
VBC was bad about that. She had itty bitty paws and she was overweight. She could hit my hip bursa every time she walked on me.
And…now I’m weepy again. Dang.

Shoot, he’s an artisan, he could make his own splits. One of the *Foxfire * books (I’m thinking the OG or #2, but my set’s in Texas right now) gives instructions for making splits and caning chairs as well as making baskets. You could likely get a copy at da jungle or see if you can find something on YT or Pinterest.

They do leave a hole in our hearts. I still miss the big weirdo

They do leave a hole in our hearts. I still miss the big weirdo
Hubs left to go back to WV this morning. I didn’t know how quiet it would be until the silence woke me up from a dead sleep.
GG is NOT a good bed cat, he walks all over us and then starts making biskits on one of us until we push him away to share with the other person in the bed. He’s strong and very enthusiastic, if only we could convince him to work on our backs instead of our arms or heads.
Happy still Saturday!
So hard to keep up with y’all.
No park today as Petey dad wasn’t going. I wish we would have as Urban went this morning. We haven’t seen him in a long time, ever since he got a human brother.
I had a painful night and it was windy, so I didn’t care about going, but I would have gone if I had known.
I would love for the GR to meet Urban. He is good at playing with other dogs.
He and Ripple were best friends when Urban was a puppy. Both of them played rough and loved it.
One time when I got to the park, Urban was already there. He saw Ripple coming and charged up to the gate. He was barking and growling and snarling and acting crazy on one side of the gate and Ripple was acting crazy on the other side. As soon as I opened the gate they took off and looked like a tumbleweed rolling across the park. Everybody at the park had looks of horror on their faces except for Urban dad and me.
I still miss Ripple.
{{{JtC}}} I know it gets better with time, but it never goes away.
Doggio, Petey is a Jackabea, beagle and Jack Russell. He is very cute and surprisingly, low energy. Very clingy though, and can go just about anywhere without a leash. Of course, all dogs are different, but maybe that would be a good fit for you. There’s a lot of them around up here.
I saw the pain doctor yesterday, and she paid attention to me this time. Probably because I had gotten only two hours of sleep and it showed.
Although I did fall asleep sitting in a chair and almost missed my appointment.
Sleeping in the chair is not a good option though as my feet swell and propping them up or sleeping in the recliner doesn’t work either.
The doctor upped my pain meds, and told me to spread out taking them so I’m not taking them at the same time.
I’m trying to figure out a schedule to take three different pain meds three times a day without taking them at the same time while also taking two other meds that have to be taken on an empty stomach in the morning at least a half hour apart and can’t be taken with any other meds.
I’m going in to get a shot in my back on the 22nd. I can’t think about it or I start feeling sick.
I am such a wuss!
The procedure involves:
Using fluoroscopy (X-ray) to guide the needle’s insertion path
Inserting the injection into the epidural space in the spine
Administering the medication directly to the treatment area
Then, if needed, I can have another procedure done on my back in August. I have to wait until then because Medicare will only cover one procedure a year.
At least my BP is good 111/65.
I always pay attention to traffic when crossing at lights.
I trust nobody.
Last week the two cars in front of me made it through the light and the truck was slowing down. Just not fast enough and the driver really had to slam on the brakes hard and still went partially through the light.
Same thing a few days ago. The pickup was slowing down, just not fast enough and it went partially through the light.
I think the problem is, they probably just got off of 81, where the speed limit is 65. They merge onto 40, where the speed limit is 50, but it drops quickly to 25 as you come into the city limits. I think the light catches people off guard. They are probably still at highway speeds and then they have to stop.
I see them slowing down, but they aren’t slowing down fast enough.
My son got the back yard mowed, finally. It took him two days.
The front yard is smaller and flatter, so he should be able to get it done in one day.
He’s still not 100% better but he refuses to go to the doctor.
I told him he would probably be better by now if he had gone when he was first sick.
He doesn’t like the ginger chews I got for him but he eats them anyway. I also got him turmeric/ginger gummies, which he does like.
I like them and turmeric helps with inflammation. They seem to help with sciatica.
It’s past 1230 and I haven’t even gotten through a quarter of the posts.
Way past time for bed.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 83 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization wherein I get to plop in a pew. Then we shall get a McN.O.L. to bring back to da cave. Sloth, nappage, and day drinkin’ shall comprise the rest of the day. I did remember to take two steaks outta da freezer last night to thaw as Moanday is men’s night over to the church house.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!

Is it even possible to buy the cane nowadays?
Here in Amish country, one can have it done, but I don’t have caned furniture any longer, so it doesn’t apply.
My bestest buddy Mel gave me 10 hours of unconsciousness last night! I feel almost human again!
Forgot to mention yesterday (because I know you can’t get enough news about my grands) that Roxy has a second loose tooth already! I don’t remember them happening in such rapid succession, but it has been a few years. She and her brother both have monster feet - she wears size 13 already, and he’s in 8!! If kids are puppy equivalents, they’re gonna be big 'uns - then again , their daddy is 5’13"… Before long, I’ll be the shortest one in the family!
Roxy was so sweet yesterday - MIL was coming from her bedroom back to her chair and Roxy followed just behind her, lightly touching her back, then taking her arm when she went to sit in her recliner. Daughter was the same way as a kidlet. Pause to aaaawwwwwww!
I’m going into seedling mode for a bit today - everything I transplanted up and died, and I think it’s because I exposed the roots to air. Dummy - I know better than that! So I’ll do better this time and still have veggies this summer, by golly! And speaking of veggies, we’ll do Cracker Barrel today, since MIL has been hankerin’ for their veggie plate. Probably go for late lunch/early dinner. Other than that, no real plans for today.
SIL’s brother flew into town from Colorado yesterday - he’ll be coming to Roxy’s b-day party tomorrow. I look forward to seeing him again - nice kid (if you can call a corrections officer a kid!) Which reminds me - I have to put the leaf in the dining room table and get out the longer tablecloth. And bring 2 more chairs. So maybe I do know what else will be done today. Oh, and bake some brownies.
But first, it’s intrarwebs time.
Happy Sunday!!

Grandpa taught me how to re-cane chairs way back when. Is it even possible to buy the cane nowadays? It seems like such a lost skill.
I stained and re-caned a rocking chair that my wife brought to the marriage. You can buy rolls of cane that’s already woven into different patterns. Not the same as weaving it yourself, of course, but way easier. I say “easier”, but even after soaking the cane for a long time, it was a real bear to handle. I wrestled that chair all over the living room. It’s still in good shape after about 20 years, probably because we never use it.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Last day of vacation. Cleaning and laundry day as well. It’s 45 degrees ferret heigh now, but it’s supposed to be 82 later.
sari, hope the shots work for you.
Woke at 3 with a sore throat and one nostril open. Crappy dream followed.
Awake and looking forward to church.
Its gonna be 70, woot.

look forward to seeing him again - nice kid (if you can call a corrections officer a kid!)
FCM, at our ages, most everybody is a kid, except for those who are as old as us.. And good on Roxy for her bestest manners with MIL Happy seeding..

It’s still in good shape after about 20 years, probably because we never use it.
Best way to be sure you don’t have to do the job again…

Speaking of (potentially) apocalyptic, Iran is attacking Israel with drones, and may follow up with cruise missiles. Just what the world needed, more fighting in the Middle East.
Very next post

Never put an oatmeal cookie in a salad!
And this is why I love the MMP.
Flyboy, better a rail moved than you being in a ‘told you so’ position with your wife. Much safer, IMHO.
Coppertone, Swampy, enjoy your respective church services. I’ll being watching the Premier League Match of the Day thanks to those Hedonists across the pond.
Sari, I really do hope the shot, as much discomfort as it will be, helps you out, constant pain and little sleep does you no favors. And the Urban and Echo story made me smile.
Stayed awake until after 11pm so I’d be good and tired and sleep in; so of course I was up about 6am, will try to stay active today and see if tonight will be like last week (slept in past 8:30am last Moanday). Have to make my Sunday Kroger run a in minute, then except for maybe gym time nothing else is on the agenda. No new mouse sightings/trappings, but I’ll leave the trap out for a couple more days, picking up more apples this AM. Weather is supposed to be near 80F today (54F now) and the week ahead looks like more of the same.
Right, need to put on appropriate clothing and be off. Have a good Sunday all.
Howdy.
Poodle mostly blocking the keyboard. Hard to type. More later.

I must admit, I’m a little sad, too, now that I know I won’t be getting any grandkids, period.
{{{nellie}}} {{{Cat Glove}}}
I’m not sad that I don’t have kids. I am a bit sad that I could never tell my parents that they would be grandparents.
Dogbutler, every time I see a beagle I think of you. Hope your beagle dreams come true.

Is it even possible to buy the cane nowadays? It seems like such a lost skill.
I would expect so. I know my dad’s redone their chairs at least once. I want to say he went to the community college for a course, but it was some years (decades) ago. Youtube might help.
Had lots of yummies at the street food festival, and brought home huge coconut macaroons for dessert later. The did not survive to Sunday.
Today is adulting day. We moved the wardrobe into the living room and now I need to put the clothing back. Also made sugary crispy rice treats and will make a blueberry cake. Today’s high is 26/78 with nary a cloud in the sky and Tuesday’s high is predicted to be 11/52 and rain. Spring is having hot flashes.
All this talk of boulder holders reminded me to order some. Filbert (don’t remember her mumper name) knows the store. It’s in the UK, but I know what suits me, so I’m not worried about ordering online.
Going to chill for a bit more and then get back to adulting.
Happy Sunday!
Morning. Today is a full day. Subbing in for another tenor at a church service this morning. This evening a rehearsal with some other folks on some Verdi. In between is packing, sorting, packing, sorting, packing. I thought the weekends were for relaxing.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 11c/52f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “I know you can’t see it but there’s a fucking cloud. We’ll call the cloud Alistair. Alistair’s a fucking cockwomble.” From where I’m sitting, Alistair is a very large cloud as I can’t see any blue sky at all! I am not concerned about that, I have no need to venture outside the house today.
We had a fabulous night out yesterday, saw some friends and had some good chats with people. Bands were excellent, beer was good, and the loo rolls in the ladies toilets didn’t run out. That’s an all-round win! Afterwards, we decided to go to the Giffard for post-gig drinks, it wasn’t too busy for a change and we stayed there for a couple of hours. Got home, had a cup of tea on the sofa and some snacks, then went to bed.
I got up to feed the fuzzbutts and do the litter trays, then went back to bed for a bit longer. Now I’m up, litter trays have been cleaned again, the girlies have had some extra food (Shadow was snoozing on ‘im indoors’ lap so I decided not to disturb him) and now I have to work out what to do for lunch.
The rest of the day will be full of high slothage, it being Sunday and therefore the Day of Sloth. I have nothing else important to do apart from making dinner tonight which will be chilli because it’s quick, easy and will give me leftovers for Tuesday. Onward, into the Sloth!
Happy Sunday!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, breakfast / lunch prep done and supper (vegetarian tortilla soup) in the crock. Not a whole lot shaking at CasaRoja today, so sloth shall be practiced.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
