Me too.
Now if I could only figure out how to get 50% power on my microwave. A question for the ages. The idea of cleaning exploded egg off of all 6 surfaces of the interior of the microwave is daunting.
Me too.

Given the existence of turntables, a microwave has 8, not just 6, interior surfaces. Don’t ask how I’ve learned this miracle of geometry. Just don’t.
Jeebus. You did say she’s quite formal … dude, you were not lyin’!
Thank you for the instructions. I wanna say QtheM the good dr. posted a similar microwave-poached egg recipe a while ago. Just the egg part, though; your full breakfast embellishment is inspired!
… oh, I remember now. When I first tried it, I glossed over the “50% power” part.
Whoops.
Were there flags waving in the background? Solemn montage of bald eagles soaring majestically?
Spot’s eyes perfectly match the thinnest, lightest stripe on the blanket.
Whelp, it’s almost 1 p.m. so I suppose I should start my day. (Don’t judge!)
I have achieved one (1) of the items on my list. Considering it was “plug in vapes” (yes, plural, I have a plethora) I wouldn’t go breaking out the cheerleader pom-poms just yet.
But at least I can cross something off the list, which is always a nice feeling.
I knew there was something I liked about you!!!
We’re done with boat stuff for the day. Pics with masking tape removed:
The bottom should be painted later this week. No one was doing any work on our boat today - not sure if they’ll be there this afternoon. FCD and I walked around on deck (I hate ladders, but I climbed up there) and discussed the next phase of work. We’ll wash and wax the superstructure, then I’ll do the teak around the flybridge, then paint the window frames. Then some more teak work. And other washing and waxing as we go along. I won’t be back there till Firday and I doubt we’ll go in the water this week, so I see a weekend of washing and waxing.
FCD has headed to Annapolis for some boat stuff shopping. I’m just finishing lunch and I’m about to go get gasoline so I can mow. So that’ll be my afternoon. Exciting, huh?
I’ll do laundry that can be hung out tomorrow. We’re promised a sunful, if cool, week. I’ll take advantage of not having to run the dryer. But for now, time to fill the gas cans so I can fill the mower and cut the grass. Onward!!
Happy Moonday!
No park today.
I slept in.
I feel guilty because I want to get Echo back to a normal schedule.
I don’t want to deal with park drama anymore though.
I was going to put my plants outside yesterday. It’s a good thing I didn’t as we had a freeze last night and frost on the ground this morning.
I’ve decided that Echo will be okay with a new puppy. She was happy when Cerby came, and I know she is lonely.
Now I have to convince my son.
I hope you find Darci soon, Doggio
I’ll have to talk with Barky mom, because if y’all remember, she had had Barky (Ruby) for only a few days when she got loose and they couldn’t find her. There was a volunteer group that helped her. Maybe there is a group like that near you.
I don’t have a favorite dessert.
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I want ooey and gooey, other times I want something clean and simple. Being allergic to peanuts and lactose intolerant puts limits on my dessert choices.
Chocolate is good most of the time, but anything with cinnamon is going to get my attention too.
Wheelie, I agree, never mix chocolate and fruit.
Actually, don’t mix anything with fruit. Don’t even mix fruit with fruit.
Unless it’s apples. I like apple pie and apple cake.
My poor neighbor, who put his house up for sale.
He has been coming out twice a week to mow the lawn and straighten things up a bit.
I am letting the wild violets and clover take over in the back yard.
The neighbor on the other side is fixing up the house. That house just sold, and from the pics it is a mess. He has set up a tent in the backyard, along with a small fire pit. I’m not sure if he is living in the tent, but it’s a bit of a mess over there. The people on the other side of him have chickens.
So much for curb appeal and making your yard look nice for a sale.
We’re heading for the park soon, some of the morning crew is going now.
I exaggerate ever so slightly for effect. But yes, everything I mentioned applies as stated to most meals most times, but not every item every time. After all, she has made some accommodations to my deep-seated efficiency that she would term my “unwashed heathen nature.”
And yes, I totally cadged this egg recipe from QtM then simplified it further through experience. I had forgotten that you were the person who fessed up to skipping the 50% part. And quite a mess it was IIRC
You forgot the crack of the bat at a baseball game while eating a hot dog… But no, although IMHO it deserved it. She took the time to slice the applies rather than just chunk them so the layers were thin and melt-in-your-mouth good…
Blessed quiet reigns as the blowers and humidifiers are out of the house after 3 days. Now waiting for tomorrow to have the wall and baseboards repaired. Will head out for swimming and sauna here in a few minutes.
FCM, you must really love being on the water, I can’t imagine doing all that.
OK, onward!
No hurry. I’m still in my robe, sipping my first (cat on my lap delayed my morning brew by several hours. Can’t disturb a sleeping cat yah know). No judgement here, I’m enjoying that I’m not the only one.
Mostly been reading the news on-line (waaay enjoying Tucker Carlson’s abrupt fall from fame) and texting with my Iowa sister.
If cat-lapping allows will go out and get a pair of glasses repaired for my friend in assisted living and drop them off to her. Otherwise it would be $25 worth of cab rides for her to get a tiny teeny screw put back in and I need reasons to get out and about in the world with people. My Friday literacy teaching was cancelled because it was the Eid holiday for most of my students and my Sunday with the grandbabies was cancelled because their upstart other grandparents are here from Montana. The nerve!
So I need to definitely get out among people even if it’s for a screw ( an eyeglass screw, get yer mind out of the gutter) and a few quickly grabbed basic groceries. Yep, that’s it-a screw and some bread.
Recall (I’m sure I’ve mentioned it) that FCD was my sailing instructor - that’s how we met. So yeah, a bit of a love affair with being afloat.
I put some gas in the truck - didn’t fill it - plus put gas in 3 6-gallon cans, and it was just shy of $100!! But it should get us thru a few months of mowage at least, and a few more trips to the boat yard and back.
Remember in the mid-70s when people lost their minds thinking gas would hit $1/gallon?? Good times.
I also ran to the dollar store, which is now called DG Market. Dollar General is now a mini-grocery store with other stuff. I had to check it out - they’re still not all set up, but it’s almost there. Wonder if this will be for all Dollar General stores?
OK, break time over. Time to fire up ol’ John Deere.
Daaaaaarcy! Where are you hiding? I’m betting you’re under or inside something so you feel more secure and are probably mooching food left out for meandering cats. You’ll never get treated better or have a happier, healthier life than you will with doggio, though, so please go home!
I’m walking Ms. Dog this afternoon. I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately for…well, nobody wants to hear that, even me. A very long walk with a very funny, energetic dog cures all ills, though.
Favorite desserts… I think this should be in categories. My favorite cake is German chocolate, and I like to make it myself, which is why swampy and I should be neighbors. Pies: Dutch apple or peach streusel. Pastry: cannoli or sfogliatelle. Ice cream: coffee, butter pecan, or French vanilla. Other: tiramisu or trifle.
Totally random remark: It makes me wince to hear people say “cannolis.” Cannoli is both the singular and the plural form. Adding the “s” is like saying “two pairs of scissorses.”
Boo, on my microwave, you hit Power once, and it shows 100%. Then you hit it again, and it says 10%. Keep hitting until you get to the desired power level, then hit Time. YMMV and probably does. How kind of you to do the favor for your neighbor! And as much as I hate Swanson Boy, I think he got axed for saying he passionately hates Trump. Telling the truth is enough to get someone fired in some places.
Pilot, thanks for the recipe!
One of my favorites, especially with homemade vanilla ice cream:
Blackberry pie / Angel food cake / chocolate mousse (not pudding!) are contenders for second place.
Or maybe strawberry pie with a graham cracker crust.
It is time for pie?
Work was work. Coworker got put between a rock and a hard place, and tomorrow will be the decision.
The washer repairman is said to be en route.
I have the dryer in the kitchen so he has rom to work. The dryer had nylon ‘pegs’ for feet. They were awful. Always bending over. I replaced them with wheels. Unfortunately, the hardware store didn’t have any castering wheels of the right size. I could move the dryer in and out, but couldn’t turn it – which makes it hard to move into the kitchen. Maybe now that it’s out, I can see if the hardware stores has the right sized casters.
ETA:
‘Speak of the Devil, and his horns will appear.’
Ah, as long as we’re sharing recipies, I supposs I could share a pie I made recently: graham cracker crust raspberry pie.
Here’s the recipe I used for the crust (I added the cinnamon): Graham Cracker Crust Recipe
And here’s the raspberry pie filling recipe I used (I used 2 tablespoons of the lemon juice): Homemade Raspberry Pie Filling: Perfect For Any Dessert
I recommend trying it out. The process of making it was fun and it tasted really good. It ended up being more of a crisp than a pie, but I didn’t mind, it was delicious.
I have achieved a few things. Go, me!
Paid off a Big Important Time-Sensitive Bill/Fee, so that was the main biggie for today.
Folded/sorted/put away a decent amount of laundry, freeing up a whole basket so I can … do another batch of laundry. But that’s merrily laundering away.
Got all the clean dishes put away, freeing up the drying rack so I can … wash more dishes.
… waitaminnit, I’m sensing a pattern here. The more work I do, the more work there IS to do.
What. The. HELL. What a scam!
I never did figure out breakfast. The Affordable Diner closes at 2 and by the time I figured out what I even wanted it was quarter till, and I may be a lot of things but I’m not an asshole.
But I have at least successfully achieved some of the things, I have a reminder set to move my stuff into the dryer, and I’m eyeballing a few easy-to-put-away items on the top of the remainder of Mt. Clean Laundry, which would push my productivity into the relative stratosphere.
… oh look, a half-killed joint!
Me too. And I have no cat to use as an excuse. Still in my sorta-PJs in my chair and as yet unbreakfasted at the crack of 3pm. Coffee’s long cold and I’ve lost interest in it.
Pilot, thanks for the recipe!
For anyone trying the recipe … If you find that late in the cooking you get one “pop” and some water, not egg, is splattered around the oven, and the egg is cooked about right overall, that’s your clue you used a bit too little water at the outset. It’s counterintuitive but that’s the fix: a bit more water to start.
And I have no cat to use as an excuse…
So, what you’re saying is … you need to adopt a cat.
Got it.
Howdy Y’all! Got a copy of the police report and took it to insurance guy who is makin’ contact with the other insurance guy. My guy said he is lettin’ them know I will need a rental. He said since one headlight is out that makes twuck undriveable. So hopefully in a day or two that’ll get sorted out. It’s the same insurance company, but two different agents, but I am hopin’ since it’s the same company stuff will speed things up. I did accomplish nappage, so there’s that.
MOOOOOOM what I call the fancy DG is a DG Market. The fancy part is because it’s bigger and claims to have a bigger and better selection of stuff.
i would think doggios doggy could be found bt its chip?
AFAIK chips don’t find dogs. Chips identify dogs that humans have found. When such humans bother to contact animal control about their find.
So a dog running lose in a rural area, or even non-dense exurbia, and especially one shy of human contact, may be doing everything it can to avoid being seen, and especially to avoid being taken prisoner by strange humans.
If the dog is taken prisoner it may or may not make itself very desirable to the humans. Which humans may want to keep the dog or return the dog, and may or may not know anything about dog ID chips.
Yes, a chip won’t find a dog, but once found the chip will identify the owner.
There are tags you can attach to the collar which will track your dog.
Ruby has one of those.
Met the afternoon small dog crowd at the park.
Echo is so much better behaved on the small side.
A chiweenie went after her and she got out of its way.
If it had been a big dog, she would have fought back.
