(Old) The Heat Is On - A Heat Wave MMP

i wore contacts for quite some time before allergies made it impossible. i knew from having them rip on occasion and only wearing one, that i could deal with the difference. some people can’t. it can cause motion sick feelings.

most people go for distance as they drive, i don’t drive and didn’t want to lose my near vision. most of what i do is in arm distance. i did lose some of my near vision… i do have to have magnifiers for some very tiny things.

i have distance glasses for when i’m at a sporting event, movie, theatr, that sort of thing. i got them in clear (for inside things), amber (for glare-y conditions), and dark grey/black for bright sunny days.

most of the time i’m in soft focus. i put on the distance glasses and i’m in hd focus. the differece between a 1980’s tv show and a 2000 tv show.

I listen to my local stations via Alexa 'cause I’m all hip to technology and stuff!

Breaking down the bike box was easier than I expected. It’s all ready to go to the convenience center in a nice, flat pile. Now back to the garage to clear a parking space for the bike. Busy busy…

Mornin’ all.

It’s 53F and sunny outside. The forecast calls for mostly sunny conditions with a daytime high of around 75F.

Happy Birthday, Hippie! I hope you have a wonderful day.

Shoe, that does sound like quite a shift. I hope Bitchy Teenager is okay.

VanGo, Ms. Peach looks quite happy!

FCM, wow, I’d be pissed off, too! I had our bikes shipped to a bike shop and had them put together. That way, if there were any issues, someone better qualified than me could deal with them, including any warranty issues. There were issues with delivery, though. Confusion on the part of the delivery driver, if I recall correctly. The bikes and extras all made it, though.

My son arrived around two in the afternoon yesterday, and Zeus and my pups were overjoyed to see him. We ate a late lunch, and then my son packed up Zeus and took him home. Upon arrival at home, they went for a nice, long walk, and then Zeus sacked out and seemed very content to be home. My son also bought him a cooling mat Arf Cooling Mat. We used to buy the same mats for Polar, and he loved them!

I’m going to run down to Lowe’s and/or Home Depot in a little bit. I need to pick up some pavers and a couple of other items. Then I can get to planting. That’s about the extent of my plans today.

You all take care of yourselves, please.

Happy birthday hippy! :birthday_cake:

Ms Peach looks like she’s enjoying herself, VanGo,

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, KP done and floors swept. Wifi was out in my area this morning for upgrades, so I read. I will be leaving shortly for the much mis-scheduled MRI. After that, RDOS time.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Metal_Mouse, I was itchy as “a man on a fuzzy tree” yesterday, but I feel fine today. I never did find out what kind of tree Elvis was singing about, but I’m less shook up now.

I am typing as I listen to podcasts of the radio show A Way With Words. It plays on public radio stations, but it’s not a part of NPR. My local station plays it at 5:00 am Sunday. I don’t get up that early for anybody.

May the MRI go well!

No bone infection! NONE!!!

Happy birthday Hippy. You made the world a better place just by being born

The storm system is still hanging on and we are getting more magical sky water as I type. Not much less than an inch so far, but it will help.

A pileated woodpecker has found the suet hanger much to my delight. They are BIG birds, the ones in AZ were only half their size.

While I had a lot of birds show up at my bird bath and feeders in AZ, they were small and drab looking. Cardinals were greatly prized for their color but everything else was desert colored. Go figure, right? The birds here have colors and are so much fun to watch.

As shoe mentioned, its Starling fledgling season and the moms have been bringing their chicks to our back yard for feeding. Poor mamas, the fledglings are as big as she is and she has problems keeping up!

Afternoon all. Managed to sneak out among the raindrops and do my shopping (Kroger had 12-packs of Pepsi on a “buy 2, get 3 free” deal I just couldn’t miss so now I’m stocked up until July) and acquire a couple toner cartridges for the printer, so no more spending money today. Rain is supposed to depart the area around 2:30pm so will probably go to the gym late and do my sweating stuff. No soccer tomorrow for the first time in weeks, so probably will be my laundry day as more rain is expected tomorrow. Only 71F outside but the house is staying nice and warm so the HVAC is having most of the day off.

FCM, I can remember going to school after Memorial Day too, they start early here and end the same way.

Mollie, nice flag, wonder if the neighbors will take note… Best wishes to Ms. Magill.

I usually send a once-a-year contribution to the local NPR and Alabama Public TV, may have to increase it this year.

red, may the MRI be negative (for you) and positive (for you)…

JtC, good news indeed!

And it’s after 1pm and I’ve been eyeing the refrigerator so best get my stuff together and head over to the gym. More later.

That was my wishes to Red

Well, no reason you can’t be happy too…

I was doing the 100/200 Slide thing again, and once again, I got stuck on the Sort Table for a bit. Apparently the day was FUBAR thought the building. But oddly enough no Home Despot damages today. Of course since I couldn’t do last night’s stuff till after the sort, I was there till almost noon. Oh no, I made money.
FT Sup: “You want to take a layoff day for Tuesday?”
Me: “Nah, my cat needs gin money.”

That makes it sound like the rail union was forming a Nine Inch Nails tribute band. But good for them either way.

In that case, load the starboard 18 pounders with grape shot, and to quote Admiral Farragut, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”

:bottle_with_popping_cork: :birthday_cake: :partying_face:HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIPPIE!!! :birthday_cake: :bottle_with_popping_cork:

Both good flag choices.
{{{{Mollie and Mrs. Magil}}}}

Good luck on the MRI, red!

Tina was the name of my childhood dog! My Tina was a mini poodle, and the Smartest Dog ™ my mom still keeps a photo of her by her phone/desk.

Lil Ms Bitchy texted me an apology (for not telling me not to come pick her up) and I feel some types of ways about someone saying “I’m sorry” for going to the hospital.

She may be a cold cunt sometimes, but she does know her manners.

Alright, bringing my Bag O’Snax AGAIN and let’s see what today brings.

Yep, he certainly did. I just wish we’d met 50 years ago when we were both at the same music venues listening to the same band. Much better late than never, at least for me.

Happy, happy birthday hippie!

Evenin’.

The promised warmth has indeed arrived. It’s more humid and overcast than sunny at the moment, but I’ll take it.

Happy birthday Hippie!

The plans for the weekend are s’posed to be pressure washing the drive and the back patio area and generally pissing off the neighbours with loud machinery, but the forecast looks almost too nice, and I can hear some plant nurseries calling my name from the lil seaside town up the road. I need some potting compost for citrus and some horticultural grit, which is absolutely not a shameless excuse to go buy plants at all…

Love your new flag! I gave the same one to my son and new daughter in law as a housewarming present when they moved into their first house together in Denver.

This is a fun company for flags, stickers, hats, etc in case you haven’t found it already. An amazing variety, something for everyone (well, almost anyone you’d want to be around).

I think we got out a week or so after Memorial Day when I was in grade school. We definitely started the day after Labour Day each year.

Oy, what a day!

Right before I left, I knocked my travel mug of coffee off my desk and wound up cleaning up best as I could in a hurry with a bath towel. Initially, Google maps wanted to take me the Bugs Bunny route getting on and off the freeway and round about city streets. Right after I got off my street, it rerouted me straight through. Come to find out, my main drag was the cross street of the strip. I got to see more of Houston that way.

I’ve had MRIs before, but never one that made me ditch my clothes and exchange them for a hospital gown. Once home, I did a proper coffee clean up and walked Nelson. Now for chillage.

Visit to BIL went well. Poor guy is so lonely, but I couldn’t stay, mostly because I had things but partly because hus apartment stinks. He lost his sense of smell so he doesn’t notice it. He did ask me and I told him it smells of cat pee. Dunno if he doesn’t clean her box enough or if she marked the place.

I did help him out with a few things, then went by Food Lion for supper fixings. By the time I got home, they had all arrived. We had a nice visit and a good supper. Daughter took her spawn out on the back deck to see the babby birds in the nest among my snapdragons. We’re pretty sure it’s a Carolina Wren.

Chillage time, once I make the bed. Always something.

Howdy Y’all! Duties got did and we had geezer lunch (10:45 a.m.) at the hog trough GC. Nappage was then achieved along with day drinkin’. A hyuuuuge tstorm came through around three p.m. It was fun to sit and watch it on the back porch. Now another line of storms are comin’ through. I am sure Precious is beside himself! He’ll need his clutchin’ pearls, faintin’ couch and smellin’ salts to get through this. It’s rainin’ all around and there are big ka*booms all around.

MetalMouse skools are out here as well. Tomorrow is the big grajooashun day for the local high skools. We shall not be out and about at all.

MOOOOOOM not just boat idiots, but road idiots are out in force this weekend. Our only venture out will be church on Sunday. No goin’ out to a restaurant either except for maybe stoner food but that just involves a drive thru.

Mollie one would think Spike and Squeaky would know enough not to make the Angry Eyetalian Woman mad. I hope they get there requisite chores done. The threat of no stromboli and wifi would def motivate me! Love the flag!

Nuts plants and the seaside sound like a good idea. Go for it!

red you are due for some chill after all that!
