Yuck. Sorry!
Just commenting. This getting old business seems to come with lots of pills, and I don’t count the vitamins.
I’ve got my bike, but no thanks to FedEx. I got a call a bit after 7 from a man who lives about 2 anna half miles from me. My bike was in his driveway, in a box with the “This End Up” arrows pointing not up. FCD and I retrieved it and as we drove home, I gave FedEx a scathing one-star review. I also emailed Lectric Bike - dunno if they have any pull with FedEx, but I thought they should know how their product was handled here.
Anyway, we got it put together, mostly. The tires need more air and I need to peruse the owner’s manual and obtain the aforementioned helmet before I take it on the road. Plus the garage now needs to be cleaned and I need to make space to park it. So, lots of fun ahead.
We hates FedEx, we does!!! Thank goodness the guy called me to retrieve my bike.
OK, I need to chill before bedtime…
Up from naptime, watching hockey. the Canes are playing like they are still napping. Dinner tonight is a Monte Cassino, Smoked Paprika Chicken with lemon butter orzo and asparagus with [Bobby Flay]Calabrian chilies[/Bobby Flay].
It literally might have been. ![]()
Sounds like Onan’s hillbilly cousin.
I don’t, which is why Spot has permanent Resting Tux Face.
Oy, I thought mine was bad.
Heh. Her mother is the General Manager.
I overheard part of their convo & she pieced it together.
The best part?
Mom/GM: “Well, why can’t the crew maybe deep clean while we wait for the power company?”
AMS: “Because we CAN’T SEE.”
(Power company: “Probably 1:30 am?”)
We got the
outta there.
I would feel naked without mine too.
Date night tonight. We went to Paso del Norte, and I had my usual shredded beef taco salad, fried jalapeños, and grande Cadillac margaritas. I’d stuffed like a demon.
We had a great after work beers in the science park with dogs this afternoon. Here’s Ms Peach having fun chasing geysers of water from our new thing, and her buddy Echo not into the whole water flying thing. Peach figured out that the person on the seesaw controlled the water pretty quick. I think there were 5 dogs and about a dozen coworkers.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 63 degrees Ferret Height(17.222 Centipedes) and raining.
Glad Ms. Peach is enjoying science.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 25c/76f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Each fucking cloud in the sky is calling you fucking dirty, dirty names.”
When we were told about our office move, I did ask if I could have a portakabin in the car park but that was turned down ![]()
Moooom a helmet with dino spikes on it sounds perfect! I hope the bikes and the other bits and pieces arrive safely.
Sounds like you need some relaxing Monkey snuggles and a quite night!
I bet the dogs had more fun than the humans!
Yesterday ended up being reasonably quiet for a change, no great work drama to deal with. I logged out a bit later than usual, then had some sofa time with Blossom while we waited for 'im indoors to provide dinner. I’m working from home again today because there’s industrial action from one of the rail unions which means lots of delayed and cancelled services on the routes I use. I decided not to tempt the wrath of the Travel Gods so I stayed at home.
We have a gig at the Giffard tonight, and I have a gym session at 10am tomorrow so can’t be out late. No other plans for the long weekend yet, there were rumours that something was happening at the pet store involving Little Paws but I’ve not heard a call for volunteers yet. LPHQ is often somewhat disorganised so I expect there will be a message later, in a panic.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and mostly cloudy with rain/tstorms/apocalypse expected around six p.m. The forecast is for an ick Memorial Day weekend in these parts. Fine by me as we have no plans to do anything Memorial Day related. I shall take care of candle and other duties over to the church house this mornin’. OYKW will go with me and we shall go to the hog trough GC afterwards for today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS sloth as is our wont.
shoe I trust the power is back by now. Also, hope Bitchy Teen is OK.
MOOOOOOM I would be beyond GRRR if FedEx did that to me. I think it’s good you let Lectric Bike know what happened.
VanGo I am glad Ms. Peach enjoyed learnin’ about science. She looks like she was havin’ a blast!
BooFae good call to not tempt the Travel Gods today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify and don acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Even GC has some standards, low though they may be.

Happy Firday Y’all!
Much rain fell overnight - HUZZAH!!! - and it continues to be drizzly this morning. Only 55 Ferrets to start and it will stay in the 50s all day. So odd, after starting the week in the 90s.
It’s laundry day and I’m going to take the kitteh water fountain to BIL - apparently his cat is a brat about her water. And we haven’t used it since getting Otis - it doesn’t hold nearly enough water for him. I’ll also talk money with BIL since I kinda manage his.
Daughter and her crew are coming over later so the kids can get playtime in the basement. And they’ll be wanting supper - I’m thinking I’ll make a big meatloaf, instant smashed, and some manner of veggie matter. I’ll pass Food Lion on the way back from BIL’s so I can get what I need there.
How goes it with the anti-social feline (whose name is currently a blank to me…) My poor girl just gets along. I discovered yesterday she’s not totally deaf - she did hear when I turned on the rollsuck. Unless the machine vibrates and that’s what caused her to turn her head. She still enjoys being brushed and all her bodily functions function. But she rarely leaves the confines of our bedroom - that’s become her world.
Here, too. This is one of the three weekends when stupid proliferates on the water (the other 2 being 4th of July and Labor day.) For whatever reason, people who don’t care about boating come out in swarms on those holidays and it’s dangerous to be a safe and sane boater. We avoid them anyway, but with nothing but rain forecast thru Moanday, methinks the bay may be safe.
Happy Firday and HAPPY HIPPIE DAY!!!
Happy birthday, Hippie!
VanGo, that looks like fun.
Swampy, I envy your cee-mint pond.
Hey, it’s Friday! Yesterday was allergy shot day, and the clinic was unusually busy. People probably had moved their appointments from the other end of the holiday weekend. Science Friday is on today, on your Public Radio station.
Remember, public radio is no longer getting any money from the government. It is 100% listener-funded now. It is up to you!
how fun!
fcm, i do see families in matching bike helmets. i have seen dino, cat, and unicorn.
not as rainy today. for the weekend my only plan is a movie on saturday. there will be reading and cats, other than that not much.
Happy Birthday Hippy!!
Up to meet the Termite Inspector at 8am, had put some stuff away so I do not look totally irresponsible. According to the weather Wizards rain is coming in about an hour, so I’ll either have to do my Firday shopping in the wet or hope the WIzards are right and it’ll end about 2pm so I can do it then. Probably the latter. I also have to get a new toner cartridge for my printer, I compared prices at Staples and Wal-Mart and surprise, they were the same price. So just depends which direction I’m pointed when I leave here. School ended yesterday so traffic should be less crazy (or maybe more so with a few hundred teenagers released upon the roadways…).
Would have sworn I posted last night but can’t see it, so 17 hours later…
FCM, glad the bike did make it in working (one hopes) order, but I’d be doing the same thing you did; and writing back to the original producer is a great idea, too. Hope FCD’s box is treated rather more gently.
Mollie, glad the eye will hopefully improve with time.
Herald, those days of multiple pills have already come for my brother and Sis-in-Law and I’m sure they will for me too. I’ve spent a couple nights sleeping in airports and having 6-7 hour connections, so I feel for you.
Our dachshund Tina, when I was growing up, would do the same thing.
JtC , have worn glasses since I was 7 years old and never been interested in contacts, I don’t know how I would feel without them. And while no squirrel wars around here, I have noticed that ‘survival of the fittest’ seems to have developed a squirrel that has learned to run away from cars and not in front of them, I seldom if ever see a dead squirrel around here anymore.
Shoe, had my TV on yesterday while some storms moved through, the signal from Direct TV was already degraded when there was a loud ‘BAM’ from behind my TV and while it didn’t shut down, I did shut it down. Working today, but the startle factor was high. Hope Bitchy Teen is ok.
Van GO, looks like it was an enjoyable day for both humans and canines.
Boo fae, hope things are quiet and go as planned…(HA!) But the great Lord Murphy may have other ideas…
swampy, Golden Corral is on my Sunday Dinner list so need to get there early before the holiday crowds show up.
Knots, hope the shots work for you.
And the Termite guy has pronounced the inside of the house termite-free and is checking the outside. Might be able to do the store run before the rains come. Have a good Firday and stay dry all.
Happy birthday, hippie!

That would be Muffin
She’s a bit less anti-social with me, I get to fuss her a bit more before she tries to bite me. She spends more time on her little bed under the window instead of hiding in the bookcase, and she also comes out to rub around my legs when I’m working in here. She has ventured out onto the landing a couple of times, and has wandered round to the bathroom but she soon scuttles back to safety.
She’s no more friendly towards the other cats though, she’s done some proper growling when she sees Cherry and has chased her off a few times. She really does need to be by herself but sadly, we haven’t been able to make any progress on the fostering side of things.
She’s content enough for now, she gets attention and plenty of food (and treats every day) so at least she’s safe and warm.
I’d set up an automatic monthly donation. Go me!!! ![]()
Wow - our kids go till June 16.
I hope he has a different delivery driver, else who knows where it’ll end up…
You’re so patient and kind. Poor kitteh deserves her own domain. I hope she gets it soon.
First load is in the washer. When I get the second load going, I’ll clean up the bike packaging mess in the garage plus try to find a place to park the bike. I need to move a metric buttload of FCD’s dust-collector stuff out to his shop. It’s a big pile of boxes that he’s just left in the garage till he can get to it… some day… Anyway, that’s the plan.
FedEx is still saying the bike will be here tomorrow. Today it’s in Texas. I’m still guessing Tuesday.
Good morning, all! It’s Friday and rainy, and my tomatoes are very happy. Spike and Squeaky are on Mrs Magill’s shit list. They did not do the requisite cleaning yesterday. They have until eleven o’clock to dust, vacuum, and clean two toilets if they wish to partake in Friday strombolis. Also, I’ll cut off their wifi access.
I got a new garden flag yesterday. It’ll fly proudly next to my Wolfpack one for June.
Since I bought new frames earlier this year, and I’m okay without my glasses, I’m going to take my newer sets of frames to the Costco to get new lenses. One of them is a clear set that I think are actually women’s that had been put on the men’s wall. Those will be my non-computer evening glasses.
After taking big strides over the last couple of weeks, I am going back to taking baby steps, so Mrs Magill can hopefully catch up. She’s going to lunch next week with a couple of her friends I had confided in. She’s also starting counselling, which I hope will help her process her feelings. I really don’t want to go forward without her. That prospect frightens me more than ICE concentration camps.
VanGo Ms Peach looks like she’s having a big time. I think Chloé identifies flying water with a B-A-T-H, so she get anxious when wet.
I have a $20/mo sustaining membership, but since I no longer commute, I don’t listen to the radio much anymore. I’m thinking of dropping it to $10/mo and upping my PBS membership to $20. The amount of each service I use seems to have reversed in the last couple of years.
She does, but as a totally home-based rescue, we are full of mothers and kittens. Rehoming is a long and slow process because every potential place has to be home-checked and we only have a couple of people able to do that at the moment. I’d love Muffin to have a home of her own, I think she’d really flourish but so far, that seems like it’s a long way off.
That sounds as if it would take a deal of getting used to.
I had mine set to distance (I don’t recall being given the option), so, yes, I need reading glasses. They only have to magnify, so I buy them from Amazon (ultimately from Hong Kong) at £18 for four pairs. At this price they are pretty much disposable.
