(Old) The Heat Is On - A Heat Wave MMP

I was watching the storm coming in at the office, while tracking the shuttle. Wondering which would arrive first.

The shuttle won! The storm started 4 blocks away from the condo. Whew!

Should be a dark and stormy night…

Howdy Y’all! I did accomplish mowage, so we are no longer in danger of bein’ the worst yahd in the ‘hood. OYKW procured provisions and swears that pound of shrimp steamed in cajun spices jumped in the buggy when he wasn’t lookin’. So, tomorrow night we will have shrimpies ‘n grits. I had a nice dip in the cee-mint pond after mowage. I hosed myself down first and jumped in nekkid. Now y’all have that mental image to deal with. Privacy fences are our friend. Showerage and nappage then ensues. OYKW grilled the chikin and I fixed the sallits and bread. Sup was good. I was watchin’ stoopid teevee but got tired of it. I think I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit. I may have an early bedtime cause I’s tahrd after all my hard labor.

Since we’re talkin’ tags, I have the generic Jawja tag. This is not my tag but it looks like this.. I am far too cheap thrifty to buy specialized plates.

Tonight’s dinner was an experiment with a new recipe from the Silver Palate Cookbook. Tomatoes stuffed with ricotta, parmesan, onion, egg yolks, pine nuts, parsley and spinach, then baked for 20 minutes. Pretty good, although the recipe was annoying. An instruction of “nutmeg to taste” is NOT helpful.

Whelp, guess I’m a slacker.

(Also  for the fox pics!)

Headed out for a break just as I heard Blondie, “Shoulda known, I had a heart of glass ..” :musical_note:

:musical_notes: "… now Imma go, sit on my ass .. "

Remember me mentioning finding pizza sauce in my eyebrow the other day?

Tied on a pretty green kerchief for today, checked the mirror to make sure it was on straight, and for a second wondered why there was a series of small red blotches … am I bleedi- nope, pizza sauce.

Came in with a big Bag O’Snax ™ so I’d be fortified for closing. Even asked about the weather (am I going to need this cardigan, or is it just taking up space in my locker at this point?)

At 7:59 S.M. said quietly to me, “Before I let you go, imma step out for a quick smoke.”

Me: “Let me go .. where?”

Her: “Did you think you were closing tonight?”

Me: "Uh, yeah. It’s not that I don’t believe you, but .. " { stomps over to schedule } HUH. WELL.

Turns out she thought I was closing tonight, too, when I 1st came in, so we both had a good laff.

We have starlings nesting on the roof. They do this every spring, but this is the 1st time any of us have seen them pillaging the dumpster presumably for old dough we toss.

Even the seagulls have better manners.

Today, when I headed out for my lil’ break, one of the :angry_face_with_horns: was RIGHT by the door and I seriously thought it was fixin’ to fly inside.

I mentioned it to S.M. and she was like, “They are getting too bold.”

My car is a 2012 so I guess that’s why when we bought it, these were the tags. Mine is kinda sad looking after 14 years, but I have no plans to change it.

Nearly 9 and still no rain. Dammit. I need to hang around home tomorrow for the oil delivery, so I suppose I can (brace yourself) clean… So I have that to look forward to. Rah.

Up from naptime, having a martini, and teriyaki stirfry chicken with asparagus. Watching the Western Conference Finals in hockey.

But jeez, you get bad management and bad maintenance.

Well, I need to collect the Benjamins so I can afford Spot’s gin.

That’s what she said!

It’s like Jurassic Park, except the score is done on a kazoo band.

In MOAR bird related news … !

I decided to celebrate “unexpected short shift” day (my new favorite holiday) by running to Ye Olde Corner Store for some liquid supplies.

Saw something out of the corner of my eye, nearly drove off the road.

“Is that a … BALD EAGLE?!”

Sure 'nuff.

Soaring over Muskegon’s less-than-desirable neighborhood, looking all majestic { cue trumpets and violins } last year we had a friggin’ peacock roaming with the local wild turkeys, and now this.

Go, nature!

Wait, one more!

Lady pulled up with a toddler in a diaper & two rambunctious 4-ish year old boys, adds something to the order, pulls off to wait.

I look out, she’s wrangling the toddler while the two older boys are doing that combination of nuclear energy and zero survival skills, running laps in the grass by the lot.

One of them ABSOLUTELY FACE PLANTS into the grass. Other kid immediately does the “point and laugh” while I’m at the drive-thru giggling, but watching in case, and to his credit the kid stood up and started chasing the other kid like nothing happened - both laughing merrily - and I guess Momma just figured it was a good idea to let them burn off some steam.

Young boys. Made of rubber and no sense.

The word young doesn’t need to be there. We don’t get better as we get older. Slower, but no better.

True that. We had a kid just sitting on the spot where water burbles into the water feature today. Soaking wet and ready to get back on the school bus.

10 year old boys are weird.

Part of me wants to see what A.I. can do with that.

Part of me is terrified.

I tried the J.P./kazoo thing on CHAPTGPT.

I have regrets.

Evening all. Have exercised and eaten, so it is with the circle of life (and calories…). We got a few drops of rain here and there but nothing serious, but there is a better than 50% chance of rain for the next 4-5 days, so we’ll get it somewhere along the line. Almost picked up a pecan roll at Kroger (had gone to get trash bags) but was able to (barely) avoid temptation. Garbage and recyclables are at the curb so no worries if I hear the trucks early tomorrow.

wet one, I keep the house at 68F during the cold months, albeit I also wear sweatshirts and sweatpants most of the time I’m inside.

Cookie, those eyes can see for miles and miles and miles and miles and miles…

Mollie, best of luck with the eye doc, hope you and Coppertone can both get to seeing better.

JtC, goggled Tudor’s and clicked on the biscuits and now I’m Pavlov’s dog–salivating… Hope the pre-op workup isn’t to onerous.

Hooray on the mowage completion, swampy. And swimming naked in your own pool is quite alright…unless the neighbors have a drone aircraft with a camera…

FCM, looks like the rain will be around while your asleep, so hopefully stuff you want to be wet will be wet tomorrow.

shoe, neat sighting, haven’t seen any eagles lately but then again I don’t look for them often. And kids… And somewhere John Williams is crying in his beer…

OK, 9:15 in the P of M, so be off to bed in a little bit, talk with y’all on Thorsday.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 69 degrees Ferret Height(20.556 Centipedes). Today is International Tea Day. And it falls on a Thursday this year, so Arthur Dent would be pleased.

Morning.

It’s currently drizzling a little after raining half the night. We’re probably going to get rain on-and-off for the next few hours as well, but the rest of the week looks like really nice weather; 20 sunny centipedes max every day, which should make for some happy plants after this rain.

I had a jolly nice skive yesterday afternoon; the gardens were absolutely gorgeous and floriferous and as I didn’t have to pay the entry fee I splashed out on coffee and cake, as the cafe is ridiculously cute and has a great view. They have twee patterned china cups and teapots with hand-knitted cozies all with different designs on.

Afetr sitting in the sun and strolling round looking at purty plants, I then went round to visit my former landlady, to borrow her pressure washer and have a gossip, as I’ve not seen her in a while. Also I’d called in at the goood strawberry place on the way, to get some for her and some for me, as the season is well underway now.

I did make it to the tip, and the post office, but didn’t make it to hand in the pay form, cos I need to check the instructions for one part. It just needs to be there by the end of the month, and it’s not much out the way, so no biggie. I may get round to doing it today, or I may do puppy eyes at one of the other students who lives really close to the place it needs to be handed in to and ask if they can drop mine off as well, so I can avoid the roadwork chaos.

Morning, mumpers! it’s currently 14c/57f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s fucking black over Bill’s mother’s fucking house today.”

We keep a patch of our outside space to grow whatever it wants, just to keep our local bees happy.

We don’t actually have “permanent records” here, unless something goes through a formal HR process. I do have two very large paper files on Troublesome Minion that were from the time when she was on a Performance Improvement Plan, and another folder of stuff about various incidents that led to her being moved to where she is now. She doesn’t know I’ve seen those, so when she bitches about events from that era, I have yet to point out that she’s glossing over the truth.

I am sure that nellie will have brought her daughter up to know that she’s not responsible for him or the trouble he’s getting himself into. Hopefully once the settlement is complete, they can all sit back and watch things implode.

I am sorry to hear that, having a shower at least gets you feeling clean again but there’s nothing quite like a long soak in a hot bath. It will be all the sweeter when it finally arrives!

Taters you seem to be doing a great job with Zeus, I hope he settles soon, or finds himself the right kind of home.

Yesterday was a busy one after I’d had to sort out the mess TM made and make sure everyone was happy with the outcome. I had some sofa time with Blossom which was nice, then I had to get up and make dinner (chicken curry). We’ve been watching The Boys so we got through another two episodes of that.

Today I have a webinar for a neurodiversity training programme. I haven’t had time to do the associated tasks for it, and I find the webinars very dry. There are a couple of participants who have an opinion about every last thing, and tend to dominate the chat function. I’ll be turning that off and ignoring it because it’s far too distracting. Fortunately it’s only an hour, any more than that, and I’d be climbing the walls.

I need to get some cat litter today so I will probably pop out at lunchtime to do that, then leave my car out on the street so I can go to the gym after I log out of work. The bonus of working at home! I may have to go to campus tomorrow, there is industrial action coming from one of the transport unions that will affect train services so I’m going to have a look at that later and see whether it’s going to be worth the hassle.

Bill’s mother’s house?

“It’s a bit black over Bill’s mother’s” usually means incoming storm clouds

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 90 and cloudy. TWPTB say we have chances of rain for the entire next week. We shall see. We shall hone our RDOS inactivities skills today. There’s nowhere we want or need to be. Besides, I was productive yestiddy so I must work on my RDOS cred today. Sup will be shrimpies 'n grits, roasted spareguts, and rolls.

shoe neat about the bald eagle! I grew up near a state park where bald eagles liked to hang out. We’d drive down there sometimes just to watch 'em soar. The best thing a boy mom can do at times is just let 'em wear themselves out.

nuts that sounds like a nice visit to the gardens, especially the coffee and cake part. Glad you had a good visit with your former landlady. I say go with sad puppy dawg eyes. OYKW and I do that to each other at times. It always works.

BooFae my eyes glazed over when I read you have a webinar today. It’s all I can do to deal with quarterly zoom meetin’s with our local Diocesan convocation council. I get to deal with it until November of next year. They’re only about an hour long, but just the thought that I have to sit through ‘em makes me twitchy. I use my tablet cause I can at least walk around with it if I want to do so. May whatever is goin’ on with the train services effect your ability to go to campus tomorrow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Latw to the discussion about license tagsm but here are mine:
