… I’ll see myself out.
OH! That’s another thing that happened this weekend! I bought a wok! And made really good pad thai!

Howdy, y’all! Slow morning in the shop. Starting up a little new project, but the geometry isn’t lining up. I’ll need to build a prototype, cuz my brain isn’t braining its way around the corners.
Last year, I was driving up to our favorite custard place and actually asked for a “Small Brain Fart, please.” Luckily the guy taking our order had a sense of humor. He asked if I wanted whipped cream on that.
It’s grey and I can’t tell if it’s going to rain or not. I waddled and was very pleased not to get rained on. Mom is ok for now - still very, very weak and tired. I am so very glad my sister visited and stayed with her. I went over every day and will continue to do so, but mom originally was not able to get around without holding on to someone. Fortunately, she is marginally more energetic now. I’d like to have someone come to her place and help her, but so far she’s refused. I guess she’s an adult, too, but knowing someone was there to make sure she was fine was immensely helpful.
Anyway, it took me about 45 minutes to be able to log on to work. It was very annoying but I was able to get in eventually, which made me happy since I had a meeting cancel, which was lovely. I apparently get new boss #5 tomorrow since July. I like the lady who will be my new boss but I sure am tired of breaking one in only to have them switch it up on me. I’m sure my team is over it, too.
Ugh. Laundry day in the hizzle. Someone was annoyed with us because we were using two washers. Fuck off; first come, first use, and it’s not our fault that one of the washers has been broken for the last two months because some moron put a quilt in it and fried the motor.
Lovely day outside: sun, no wind, 70s. A great day to go. . .grocery shopping.
Wait, is this a thing? I’ve been putting quilts (and sheets and comforters (not all at once)) in the washer for my entire life.
Brain fart? Sometimes I think my brain has been eating beans non-stop for a week! Where is that stupid remote? On my chest is most likely.
Finally Spring in my part of SoCal - temps in the 80s all week with threatened thunderstorms over the mountains. My just planted last month pomegranate is showing fruit already. I really wasn’t expecting it to do that for at least a year! 3 weeks left for my seniors and they are all seriously down with Senioritis. Me, too for that matter.
Fly low, stay safe and stay hydrated. Fever Tree makes the best tonic water, for those inclined to gin & tonics to fight the warmth (and malaria!)
Happy Moonday!
It’s a nice N.O.S. 66 degrees outside. Supposed to get up into the low 70s, so a pretty day.
I screwed up thinking my doctor appt was a 1, but it is a 2.
I have a little time to kill.
I’ve leaving myself plenty of time because of how slow I am right now.
We’ll take the walker and my cane, just in case I need one of them. I don’t trust my ankle not to give out on me again.
I’m probably just being a big baby.
We use our wok for making tacos.
I like it better than a skillet because the sides are higher and I’m less likely to flip something out when I’m stirring the meat.
Congrats on new job Wheelie, I hope it all goes well for you.
I have so many brain farts, that my brain farts have brain farts.
It is betting better though.
A lot of my stress is gone, just the settling of the estate to get through.
I’ve just accepted the fact that I am going to get fucked over.
I’ve pretty much gone NC with all of them.
My cousin surprised me the other day though. She was talking about my aunt going into the hospital and who was letting who know. I said don’t count on me to tell my sister or nieces, and she said screw them anyway. They don’t care about anybody but themselves.
Of course, then there will come the stress of either moving or making renovations to this house to make it more senior friendly.
Probably cheaper and easier to move.
I’m getting more excited about my new puppy too.
I wonder how long until I start cussing his existence lol.
Fortunately, Shar Pei just laugh at you when you cuss. They don’t give a damn.
It was a quilty-type thing, VERY thick, which means it soaked up a lot of water until it was about a 50 pound weight sitting in there (off balance, of course). I’m at the point now where I’m really pissed about all this. On top of the washer being dead, one of the dryers is dead, and another one’s door won’t stay shut unless you brace something against it. Add to that the aggravation of people removing your laundry before it’s completely dry and I’m ready to strangle someone. And for this “convenience” we’re paying $4000/mo. in rent. Shit’s about to get real between me and management.
Hello all. I have finally returned.
Zorro hates it when I use the computer. And like the cat in a dog’s body that he is, he was walking across the computer keyboard. I think he’s finally over that, so I hope to be around a bit more.
In today’s exciting animal tales with Sunny, we are adopting another dog. A few days ago, whilst driving to an appointment, we saw a beautiful German Shepherd wandering around a freeway junction. Over the on ramps and so on. So I pulled over, and Beamette hopped out and got the dog. The dog just walked right up to her, which was a relief considering where we were.
Long story shorter, the dog is in really bad condition. Very underweight, both ears very infected. Missing fur. We found the owner, but it’s clear that the owner is not caring for her. He has agreed that we can take her for a small fee. So today, we go and get her. This could be exciting. Akiko didn’t care at all about Zorro joining the household, but every once in a while she decides that a random dog should DIE, DIE, DIE and loses her mind completely. Fingers crossed that the introduction goes smoothly.
Other than that my life is pretty much as it was: dr’s appointments, reading, etc.
Hugs to you all. Happy Monday!
I finally found my coffee cup this morning.
In the microwave.
Where I left it yesterday.
Half full of coffee.
In what universe? I have never in my life gotten a deposit back. And I’m not that messy a person.
NinthAcolyte, (I don’t remember your nick, sorry) Your pad thai looks delish!
Congrats on the new doggo, Sunny! Pics?
Happy Moanday!
So you share this with us every so often which makes me wonder: Is there a women’s night over to the church house? The men seem to have steaks and beer. What do the women have? Quiche and wine?
I’ll let this one slide if you will acknowledge that you measure distance incorrectly.
When I was in Dale Carnegie, they gave us pins that said attitUde. Of course we asked why the U was big and the answer is because YOU control your attitude. You have the qualifications and as you said present yourself well. You need to be prepared to share how you would handle management duties. I think you GOT this!
At my parents’ church, they have quilting and knitting groups. My mom refers to them as “stitch and bitch” and attends religiously (heh). She says they occasionally have men come, but not many.
Before my very acrimonious exit from the Catholic Church I went to the men’s club meetings. I was always pizza, beer and a sportsball game of some sort on video. There was a pretty good poker game every month though. I am not a sports fan, but I did like playing poker against a group of guys who were paying more attention to the game on TV than the game on the table.
Whoa, throwdown in Minnehaha. Can you livestream it?
All kidding aside, you have a very legitimate complaint. They need to fix those machines pronto.
I agree. Unfortunately, since some moron broke the (new) washer, it’s not covered under warranty, so they have to wait for a part that is apparently coming from somewhere in Ukraine.
{ re-emerges at TWO P.M. }
{ blinks }
Damn.
Niner that is a damn fine Pad Thai.
In the pic of the pan on the stove I mistook the pot holder / towel hanging from the oven door for a moment, thinking it was big blob of Pad Thai that had escaped the pan and gone down the front of the stove, sticking to everything in it’s path. At which point I thought “Oh goodie! Someone who cooks like I do.”
I’m pretty darn good in the kitchen, and clean as I go. But that cleaning is 100% necessary because I move faster than is safe and use too much heat; my cooking is usually kinda violent and stuff goes flying sometimes most times. Wheee!
Sunny! Welcome back; you wuz missed.
My brain fart today was to order up my ride to the car shop, get into the Lyft, then contact the shop to ensure all was well for the pick-up. Much smarter to do that in the opposite order. The owner & I are good pals. We had texted on Sun and he had said it was ready, so I thought I was safe. Turns out I thought wrong. Anyhow, off I go in the Lyft when the answer comes back: give us an extra hour t double-check something. … Crap.
So I have the Lyft guy stop where I was going to get breakfast after the car pickup and instead I got breakfast before getting my car. Made for a better schedule for my stomach, but an extra ~$10 in Lyft fares & tips. Sigh.
Anyhow Latin-style breakfast was yummy, car was ready, we had an excellent yak for 45 minutes, & subsequent erranding was nominal.
Would this Monkey be your dog/cat or your BF? Both provide Monkey snuggles, but different kinds of Monkey snuggles. At least I hope they’re different kinds of snuggles
Hah! Yes Pilot, we are of a kind there. I don’t think I necessarily move too quickly, I’m just an inveterate klutz. My dad used to just sigh and say “don’t join the bomb squad, kid…” I’m also pretty fastidious about cleaning as I go, though.
The thing on the oven is indeed a towel. My grandma makes them, taking a tea towel and crocheting a strip and a button on top so you can fasten it to the oven or fridge handle. I have a dozen or so that she’s made for me over the years.

Monkey is always and exclusively my cat.
Kindly get yer mind outta the gutter, good sir!
