(Old) The Joy of Brain Farts in the MMP

:people_hugging: right back. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

{{{{JtC}}}}
They do worm their way into our hearts(and laps), don’t they?

I resisted upgrading to 11 on my PC, and I downloaded an app so the home screen emulates earlier versions of Windows because I don’t like the newest interface. It’s not that I’m against change, but I don’t like the changes they made, so I do what’s comfortable. And I agree about Chrome - NO! No to Edge also. I like Firefox.

heh - apart from many of the parents being to the right of us, this school doesn’t sanitize. Unlike a local Christian school whose Job Vacancy announcement I saw, seeking a science teacher who taught Biblical science, whatever the heck that is.

Preach it! I find I stumble over my feet lately when I wear certain shoes. I try to be especially aware when I’ve got an armful of toddler. I don’t need to be falling on top of him…

A little ancient history here that I don’t think I’ve ever shared. When I was a senior in high school (class of '72 - Go Knights!!) I was in the A Capella Choir and we were invited to participate in a choral competition in Rome that Christmas. We raised over $30K in 10 weeks and the whole choir got to go for free (chaperones had to pay.) Anyway, yesterday I saw a post on FB that there’s going to be a reunion of that specific choir next month. They call it a 50-year reunion, but the trip was December 1971… Still, I’m thinking about it.

Several concerns - the post mentions singing again. Not only am I no longer a first soprano, I haven’t sung much more that Wheels on the Bus and Baby Shark for decades. When I try to sing along with the radio, it becomes painful in short order - my voice is out of shape. Also, the reunion concert is about 2 hours long. I live 2+ hours away. And it’s being held in a small church, so I don’t know if family is invited. I guess first step is to email the address in the post and get some answers.

I’m still in touch with one of the other first sopranos but I don’t remember many other members. I know at least one has died, likely more than just her. Very mixed feelings - it was an amazing trip, but apart from Mary, I don’t think I’ve seen or heard from any of the others in decades, not that I was close to many of them even then. Decisions, decisions…

And that post must have led to the dream last night about me hosting a reunion at my palatial estate, complete with swimming pool. It’s so weird when my “home” in a dream is absolutely nothing like any place I’ve ever lived.

OK, that’s enough from me. Happy Thursday! (Even if it is starting in the stoopit 40s!!!)

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 68 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 81 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse throughout the day. We shall see. As we have no where we want or need to go I say let it storm all day. Sloth and general overall uselessness shall rule the day here at da cave. Sup shall be chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs and oven fries. Fartfest to follow.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLEARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY DEEEAAARRR SSSAAARRRIII!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAYYY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f with a predicted high of 19c/65f and cloudy today. That fits with that I can see from the office window. Weather app says “Calm your tits. It’s not that fucking bad outside!”

Happy birthday, sari - hope you have a good day.

Moooom that kind of reunion would not tempt me at all, partly because of the content/duration/distance and also because of the absence of contact with other members of the group over such a long time.

{{{{{Sunny}}}}} just 'cos.

I have read much but retained little because I am tired. It’s going to be a long day as I was out late last night, didn’t sleep too well, got up early and have to be on campus all day. Rental Cat is returning to her own home this evening and since it’s ‘im indoors’ birthday, we are going out for curry so another late-ish night is in my future.

At least lunchtime has arrived and I can take a break from spreadsheets and assessment submission chasing.

I just found out it’s on the same day as the multi-class reunion. I went to one of those once. It was horrible. I’m pretty sure my decision has been made.

Time to haul the dirty clothes downstairs before Tobias arrives. It’ll be laundry day!!

Morning all. Slept in all the way to 6:15am, so should be able to avoid nappage. Rain is expected this afternoon so soccer practice is in doubt, we’ll just have to see what the weather does. Gym is definitely on the schedule, we’ll just see what time.

Oh, and that deserted bird nest I cleaned out? The bird (or another just like it) is working on rebuilding it–I guess they have an extra breeding season I didn’t know about. I’m tempted to leave them alone, but I really do like using my front door at times, so we’ll see.

boo fae, hang in there, you’re a young person so you can do things like that…   Glad Rental cat is heading home, you done good to take care of her for this time.

Sari, a most Happy Birthday. It hasn’t been the greatest of years, I know, but you have your Son and your life and you have us to lend an ear when you need it. Take care.

OK, need to break my fast and be about the day. All y’all take care.

FCM, I doubt many of the voices will be much like what you remember. If you want to just be with those folks again, go for it even if you have to lip-synch the words. Hope it includes spouses. And yeah, I remember many years ago (like 50) applying at a Christian school, when you still did that with pen and paper, and one of the questions was “When were you saved?”. Being a good Catholic at the time, it was a poser…obviously I didn’t get the job.

Sunny, as a friend, albeit electronically, I don’t like the sound of that. Be it physical or emotional, you might consider professional help. Just worrying as a friend.

OK, need to break my fast and be about the day. Take care all.

Good morning.

It’s currently 59 degrees and supposedly partly cloudy outside. The expected high will be around 79 and we’ll have cloudy to partly cloudy skies all day. On top of that, things will look a bit hazy because wildfire smoke has drifted down from Canada due to a very strong high-pressure ridge. The air quality isn’t affected on this side of the Cascades, but it has impacted Eastern Washington.

Sunny, I know I’m just an internet being, but I am sending you hugs. I’m worried about you too!

sari, Happy Birthday! On this day in 1980, Mt. St. Helen’s blew and coated the state and the world with ash and shut down flights.

Today is my last day of work for the week. I was back at the office yesterday takin’ care of bidness. The day was much like others have been this year, so no need to go into it. I was glad to get home.

Tomorrow, I’ll treat myself to a pedicure and then head to the mall to pick up a few things. After that, I’ll come home, run the roll-suck, dust and wash the floors. I may change my mind and run the roll-suck tonight because I want to get the lawn mowed and flowers in the ground and planter boxes.

Alright, time to finish my coffee and ready myself for another long day. Thankfully, I’ll be working from home.

Happy birthday, Sari!

FCM, I had a good time at my 50-year reunions last year, though I’d only seen one of the people at the Illinois school since our 10-year, and had only seen one from the Michigan school since seventh grade. And I was far from popular at the former.

Up and dressed before 0800 – what a horrible notion! But I wanted to go out and water the gardens before the sun was too high. 49 and NOS out now; high 60, low 45.

Freeze warning last night, though it only got down to 34 (in mid-May!). We found Fluff and five kittens (three black, one black with a little white, one grey and white) in our shed. Lady SCAdian wanted to bring the kittens inside where it’s warm; Fluff just sat and ate kibble while the first two came in, but got hostile when milady tried to pick up a third one, so we set up the big pet carrier with a towel and a bowl of kibble, put it in the shed, and took the two kittens back out. Haven’t checked on them yet this morning, but Fluff sat in the doorway and watched me walk past with the watering can.

Morning. Got a haircut last night, which felt nice. Graduation for me is coming up real soon.

Morning, kids! Yesterday I took all the books off one of my big shelving units here at the library. Today I will get the custodian to help me move the shelf, then reload it. Rinse and repeat for the other three big shelving units. At the end of the laborious process we will have made room for the new study carrels and research computers.

The entire area here is shrouded in a campfire-smelling haze courtesy the inferno engulfing our Canadian neighbors. My lungs are unhappy with this development. I think we’re supposed to have some thunderstorms soon, maybe that will help…

G’morning, Sunny! Nice ta meet you too. The shiny math rocks are… Well not the best part, but certainly a very good part. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a hard time. I very much feel you, and I know intimately how little words help. I hope things get brighter soon for both our sakes.

Metal Mouse, I also think giving it a shot might be worth your while! The most important bit of imagination required is simply: “What would I (or the character I’m playing, who can certainly just be “me but with a sword”) do in this situation?” If you’re the kind of person who enjoys thinking about the moral or practical implications of a scenario (which I think most of us here are) then I think you’re a good fit for TTRPGs. The level of detail I described in my post is more what’s expected of the DM, the person running the show and “telling the story,” as it were. As a player, your job is just to respond to the situation the DM presents to you.

I knew you were my kind of folk, FCM.

Happy birthday to Sari and happy graduation to GodBod!!!

Once again I was over on the 100 Sort Table, but this time TPTB was watching. So of course 3/4 of the time there was nothing but red boxes when the Red cage was nowhere near. And he wandered off when the table got down to 30% full. Of course a huge wad of stuff came down the belt right before he came back. One of my coworkers said, “Be he thinks we aren’t doing anything”.
Congrats on the graduation, GodBod!

:partying_face::birthday: :champagne:HAPPY BIRTHDAY sari!!! :champagne: :birthday:: :partying_face:

MIL called FCD to tell him that she didn’t have any towels. I checked the bags stored at our house - no towels. So FCD went over there and found all her towels in the linen closet that she’d forgotten she had. Not a good sign. :frowning:

And BIL in Texas, the one with diabetes and heart problems, has been diagnosed with Alzheimers. We don’t expect him to live much longer.

On a happier note, Tobias is clean - he played in a bubble bath after lunch. Now, can I get him to nap??

I’ve lived in my current apartment for about 9 months now. The two bathrooms are almost identical with a linen closet in each. Her Ladyship handles most domestic tasks; her choice, not mine. The second bathroom linen closet has beach towels, placemats & cloth napkins, etc. Stuff I use all the time. Plus our backup / guest bathroom towels, which I don’t much mess with. Conversely the master bathroom linen closet has our normal use bathroom towels, bed sheets, etc. So far pretty logical. She’s very good at logical.

About 3 weeks ago I wanted a fresh shower towel and went to the only linen closet I ever use: the secondary one. Add found only our old back-up emergency towels, guest towels, beach towels, placements etc. Color me baffled. Absolutely baffled. Wracked my brain on where my towels might be hidden.

I had utterly forgotten that the almost identical master bathroom had an almost identical linen closet. I walk past it 8 times a day & it’s invisible. I had to ask where my regular towels were hidden & Her Ladyship looked at me like “Gawd I hope I’m not going to have to spoon-feed this drooling idjit his applesauce in another 5 years.”

My point being that forgetting you own a particular closet in a mere 2BR apartment is not necessarily a sign of dementia. Unless I’ve got it too.

Your dear MIL has a lot more excuse having just moved in, somebody else having put everything away for her, and everything about her new life is still semi-unfamiliar and disorienting than I have after ~8 months.

Sorry to hear of BIL; that’s a long walk on a short pier.

Sari; Happy birthday!!!111!!!11! It’s a damn shame that such a fine person is so afflicted of late. We do care. Really.

As to me, we launched right about sunrise, so the mountains were lit, the clouds were few, and the valley was mostly in shade, but not dark. Very pretty. All else was/is uneventful & now I’m home running laundry & assessing the odds on irking tomorrow.

Best of luck to everyone everywhere.

An update: The custodian wasn’t in today so my shelving unit remains unmoved and 25% of my books remain sitting on tables instead of being shelved as they should be. As a result, I mostly just read all day.

That sounds glorious. I love flying and I especially love takeoffs and landings. I’m more than a little bit jealous of pilots and, had I the means for such recreations, I feel like I’d quite enjoy learning to fly and owning a small aeroplane.

Howdy Y’all! This has been a day of high sloth and general over uselessness. I could have done some stuff but chose not to do said stuff. I am retired and can do this if’n I want. Nappage, day drinkin’ and an early sup/N.O.L. were accomplished. That’s quite enough for one day. Have I mentioned lately how much I enjoy bein’ a retired drain on society?

GodBod congrats on the upcomin’ grajooashun! Big plans for the Summer?

Sunny a lot of here are concerned about you. Hope you had a restful evenin’ of peace and quiet.

MOOOOOOM except for the tenth anniversary one, I have never bothered about high skool reunions. I keep in contact with a few folks I’ve wanted to do so with and well, that’s enough for me.

Today I cleaned and cleared a storage unit! Not mine, sadly. Tonight the committee will view the treasures and decide what to do with them.

It was crazy, so many empty boxes! It took me over a half hour to flatten them. The room is cleared and looks rather nice as they do for that brief moment.

That is how you spend a good 5 hours of staycation!

Actually, she declined help putting things away. Both of her older sisters had/have some sort of dementia, so it’s not too surprising. The recent stresses in her life don’t help much. But she’s all unpacked now, so maybe she’ll settle.

No more boat work for me till we’re back in our marina. Tomorrow I will mow and do household chores after visiting the medicinal vampire. Saturday, we empty the old apartment and Sunday, we clean there. Woo-hoo…

Tonight, chillage.

Happy Thorsday!

No park today, my son had to irk a full shift and he was feeling it.
He was hot, sore, and tired.
And all he brought home was a piece of cornbread.
He said the food was really good, and he fixed a plate for me, but he is uncomfortable wrapping it up to take home.
Next time I’m sending a container.
His boss. Lily mom, said to.

Da jungle sent both air mattresses. I may send one back, or maybe it doesn’t hurt to have an extra one around. Nobody ever spends the night here, but you never know.
My son set up the bigger one for me. It’s taking up a lot of space in the living room, but we’ll figure it out later. I think it needs a little more air. The recliner box can be a temporary nightstand for tonight.

{{{JtC}}} I know what you mean. They are all special, but some just grab you a little tighter.

My son is having a rough time today.
He went upstairs and forgot to bring my pillows down, so he had to go back up. We have a stack of boxes and I knocked them over, and he picked them up. He’s still sore from a full night of irk last night. He’s not used to it, and the warehouse is hot already. It isn’t even summer yet.

Thank y’all for the birthday wishes!
You sing so beauteously Swampy

Maybe MIL is just a bit disoriented and will be okay FCM. Stress can make it worse.
I have never been to a reunion, and don’t ever plan to go. I can’t see much point in it.
I used to like Firefox, but it stopped irking. Now I use Chrome. No Edge, No Bing.

Having a volcano blow it’s top in my birthday seems so appropriate, Taters. I can relate.

Cleaning and clearing always makes me feel better, Rocky.
I need to do it around here.

I hope you feel more like yourself soon Sunny

Well, Wifey, RN is on her way to Olympia. She’s taking my Prius because she didn’t trust the Jeep that far. Actually, I think a long drive would be good for it. After she got back from seeing a patient, she said it didn’t occur to her that I would be without a vehicle other than the Jeep. She asked if I really wanted to come down. I didn’t give her an answer yet, but I really don’t want to. It would be like $75 in gas for the round-trip. And… If I don’t go, I can start building her potting table. It would be a nice surprise if I can finish it over the weekend. So I’ll bow out, unless she’s too disappointed. (But she made the offer, so…)
