Could be, although he seems able enough. And this particular problem is about as basic as it gets in plumbing. If there is a drip happening past the valve, then the valve is faulty.

Oh joy. The furnace guy wasn’t able to fix the problem last firday, he called and said that the manufacturer said replacing the burners is the only option, but they no longer have those burners. New furnace is the recommendation. I don’t have $5k sitting around for a furnace. When I get home I’m going to look for the model # and see if I can find aftermarket parts.

I’m at Daughter’s house. Tobias is napping. FCD is probably sitting in his new car playing with all the new features. I’ll miss the seat position memory feature of the Caddy, but I won’t miss having a 2-door car.

Just wish he did this before we spent a fortune on new tires. Oh well…

fishy, I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. Sending you great big hugs.

FCM, I’m so sorry to hear about the BIL - I hope FCD is doing okay. And that sucks about the Caddy.

I just stuck my head in briefly because I disappeared for a while and kind of fell off the face of the earth. More layoffs at work, combined with a fairly catastrophic closure of a vendor = me working 16-hour days with no additional resources to fix things, so I’ve had time for work, sleep and kid stuff.

Funny story, though (sort of) - I drunk purchased a ham the other day. Of all the things I could’ve bought…we eat mostly vegetarian, but overlyboy had commented that he missed his grandmother’s food, particularly Honeybaked Hams. I was at a friend’s house in the neighborhood and she kindly got me and all her friends somewhat tipsy on Sunday; I toddled home 'round the corner and apparently ordered a ham. Now I’ve got another reason why I shouldn’t drink. So I’m going to pick up my drunken ham this afternoon and have that and some potatoes and maybe green beans before overlygirl’s soccer game.

Thanks for saying this so well, much better than I could have. So many people don’t understand how painful and judgmental these little micro aggressions are.

Happy Hump Day!

It was a cool 40 degrees at the park this morning. Echo was being a bitch again; she went after Coco while the treat lady was handing treats out. Coco dad was standing next to her and grabbed her. We don’t see Coco very often anymore; they usually go down to the creek in the mornings. Coco used to be part of our morning group though, and I’m surprised Echo went after her.
If she keeps acting this way, we may stop going to the park.

I left to get my son last night before he called. I got there at 1215, and he wasn’t out yet. I saw a few people come out at 1230, but they were eating lunch in their cars. I left to go back home a little after 1, and about 5 minutes after I left my son called to tell me he was done. It was close to 2 when I got home and I only got 4 hours of sleep. I took a little nap, but I am still tired and grumpy.

The dogs are making me crazy today. They want outside because the neighbor’s dogs are out and all it will do is create a bark fest. Then the neighbor will make his dogs go inside, which I think is unfair to them.
I say let them bark and run the fence a bit and eventually they will get tired and shut up. There are no other neighbors nearby to be disturbed.

Other than napping and irking, I haven’t done much else today.

The new car is likely taking his mind off the current situation and bringing him a small amount of joy.

He definitely likes his new toy. He’s done some setup to personalize his preferences. Then I’ll do the same. Guess I can deal with adjusting my seat manually. I will miss that part of the old car…

FCD spoke with the psychiatrist evaluating his brother. The doc thinks he should be in a facility of some sort. The assigned social worker is supposed to help work that out. The trick is getting him to agree. The doc also said he shouldn’t be driving. Anyway, since this is the third time in the last month that he’s been in that unit, maybe something can finally happen.

In happier news, I get both kids on Firday. Daughter and SIL will be cleaning the house for Tobias’ b-day party on Sunday. He turns 2 on the 15th. They grow up so fast!

Meanwhile, chillage.

I’m taking a break after walking to and from PT. Not a great PT day. I erred by trying to hurry–I had to get Old Flame off the phone–and it turns out hurrying isn’t good for the knee. The therapist was appalled when she saw me, grabbed a cane, and gave me a lecture. Then she noticed my left foot turns in quite a bit when I walk. I asked a doc about this years ago, and he shrugged it off. The PT said it’s a hip issue and needs to be addressed now. (I have zero hip pain.) She also said my left leg quads are very weak. I’m giving myself a D+ for today. I need a 4.0 if I’m going to get into an Ivy League PT place.

Aren’t leftovers great? I hated 'em when I was a kid. Mom used to cheerfully call leftovers night “smorgasbord,” but we groaned anyway. As an adult, I hated leftovers night because it meant washing the storage containers AND pans. Microwaves are da bomb.

I’m sure otters get pretty gassy and that it’s a real turn-off to other otters.

This made me laugh out loud. And you’re a gem for helping your coworker.

Oopsie, you make me miss in-person voting. I’m glad turnout was good.

FCM, if anyone can yum some healthy weight back on MIL, it’s you. Also, it’s probably my confused little brain, but I thought YOUR car was the one on its last legs. No?

Every drunken ham should have a designated driver.

Sari, glad you got some naps in. Do you think Echo’s behavior is due to Ripple’s absence?

Flyboy, surely the faint line means Covid is retreating.

Welcome home nellie. Take it a little easier on that knee though.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, et and worked on a project in the studio. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Sari, sweetie, I say this out of love:
Make that boy get his damn drivers license!!!

You have far too much to deal with as it is, without having to be a private chauffeur on top of it all.

I worked on a music arrangement today. I just published one a few days ago.

I realized I forgot to say thank you for all the welcome backs! You folks are the best.

Congratulations on the publication! That’s wonderful! I so admire musicians and composers. My only talent in that field is applauding.

My car has 211k miles and is in the shop for fuel injectors. But I don’t think it’s on its last legs. FCD’s car was approaching 100k miles and he was getting nervous. He’s weird that way. Plus he really wanted a Santa Cruz and, frankly, he gets crazy when it comes to cars. After 40 years, I quit trying to understand him and cars. My goal is still 250k on my car.

Chillage continues!

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and we got shorn. That was the big excitatement of the day. Nappage, day drinkin’ (martinis out by the cee-mint pond, so a drink and a snack), and leftovers got et up and the kitchen cleanded.

Nellie fortunately both of us have no qualm eatin’ leftovers. As primary cook, I am glad to make a meal that will suffice for a couple of days. A lot of the time the leftovers are not eaten the very next day, but the day after. That adds variety. Plus we like to eat out a couple of times a week.

wordy I now have an urge to add drunken ham buyin’ to my bucket list. Hope the irk situation settles down soonest.

realfish hope your nephew and bonus sister can help you out. Maybe wheelie’s suggestion is worth lookin’ into as well.

cookie Maybe it’s more like rocket surgery or brain science. Those drippy shower heads can be tricky.

VanGo hope you find a less expensive fix for the furnace.

Oopsie thank you very much for your service!!! Very important in service of our democracy. I think I previously mentioned that I worked the absentee ballots for the 2022 primary and I just can’t do it again. Too long of a day for me. So, kudos to you and thanks again!

I have wanted to get my hair done (colored and cut) for a week and a half but my hairdresser has COVID and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. I’m concerned about her.

I hear you Wheelie
and my son is hearing it too!

I don’t know what it will take.

It is a little bit easier from here. It’s a longer drive, but when I get home, I pull into the garage, close the door, take the leashes off the dogs, and let them out.
It’s a shorter and better lit walk from the garage door to the back door here, than it was from the parking pad to the back door there.
In the spring I’ll get a sidewalk put in and it will be even easier.

I’m debating going to bed now and let it be a surprise when my son calls, or wait until 10 when he’ll let me know. I’m tired.

Up from naptime, having a martini and meatballs and tortellini with homemade sauce.

Looks cool, anyways I prefer to drive my cars until the wheels fall off.

That’s something I would do.

Time for my favorite road sign to come out:

:heartbeat:

A hard deadline?(that’s what works for me.)

I think the problem there is he has no other way to get home, so if Sari says, “Get your license by 12/31 because I’m not picking you up any more,” and he doesn’t get his license, he’d be stuck there with no place to sleep. Whatever is keeping him from getting his license, it’s more powerful than his guilt and sympathy about Sari having to pick him up at all hours. And he seems like a good son, so we’re talking VERY powerful.
