(Old) Time Is On My Side (?) - A Daylight Savings MMP

GennieJ That is one lovely pupper! Has she always been white around the face or is she getting up there in age? Regardless, some skritches from upstate NY.

The wires come into the house in a spot where the dog travels don’t reach. Fenced back yard, wires in the front.

The dog is now staring at a ball on the floor, wondering why it isn’t bouncing. I’m too tired to explain that to her.

Mrs Magill 's birthday cupcakes are done, frosted with whipped ganache, and are in the fridge (I’m afraid of the ganache melting. The cupcakes were a bit touch and go. Whoever had brought up the last carton of eggs from the downstairs fridge didn’t add them to the grocery list. Thank goodness the Publix across the street opened last month.

I grew up in a small town with old buildings. Well intentioned and necessary as the ADA was / is, it failed to provide for very small shops in old buildings. A barber in my hometown used to go out to the sidewalk in front of his shop to cut several older gentlemens’ hair because there wasn’t a ramp and the door wasn’t wide enough for a wheelchair. He was semi-retired and couldn’t justify the expense, so he fully retired and sold the building, leaving the town of 1K without a barber.

And does this lovely member of royalty have a name?

Doing a little reading before bed. Nelson just alerted to my neighbor taking Kirby and the KS out, but didn’t get excited enough to hop down.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/42f with a predicted high of 8c/47f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “I’m sorry, but the sky can’t fucking stand you today.” That’ll be why it’s bright and shiny out there!

Ouchie! I hope he heals quickly and pays more attention in future!

Have a fabulous time, I really hope you get good weather for some hiking too.

It might be spendy, but I would think it’s probably good advice given the fact you keep having to get bits of your house pulled apart every time something leaks :frowning:

I saw some stuff about that, it looks like a very exciting event.

Hurrah! Much happy dancing will be going on

I prefer it when people use something other than Imgur because it’s banned in the UK, or at least inaccessible so I miss out on all the pretty pics unless they’re on FB as well and I’m your friend.

Perfect….beautiful kitteh!

Just a quick posting today as I’m in a bit of a rush. Yesterday’s gym session was very good, Amrit and I got through a lot of shoulder and upper arm exercises designed to help my injury not be such a nuisance. Came home and did a couple of quick chores, had dinner and was in bed before 11pm.

Up early today, showered, sheveled, cat stuff done, clothes and essentials packed and we are about to summon an Uber to the station. Off to Antwerp for the weekend so I might not be posting much until we’re back home again. We travel to London, walk from our station to the Eurostar terminal (via a couple of back streets and a very nice little pub), get off in Brussels, and get a local service through to Antwerp, then a tram to the centre of town and our hotel. Back home late Monday night

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 72 and sunny for the day. It’s cooler than it has been, but really, this is the usual weather for this time of year. I get to see the doc and vampire at eight-thirty. After that I shall have a McBreakfast, go by the pharmacy and head over to the church house. Today is veggie prep day. The carrots and N.O.T. will be cooked and the cabbage and rutabagas get chopped (cabbage) and pealed and cut in hunks (rutabagas). Both of those will get cooked tomorrow. Oh and the corned beast will get sliced. My inner seven year old wants fish sticks and mac & cheese. Thus that will be sup. There will be peas and carrots as well. My inner seven year old will be made to eat his veggies.

GenJ the princess is a pretty doggy! Skritches from her Unca swampy. Glad you got the visit from Granny Gossip.

JtC hope all goes well with the passport application.

Now I need more caffeine and to purtify for the day. Once again I have to forgo nappage. The inhumanity of it all!

Happy FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH Y’all!

My late FIL lost the tip of one finger as a boy. He built a small cannon - back in those days, kids did lots of less-than-safe stuff. Anyway, when he lit it and covered the fuse hole, he didn’t know he was supposed to use a bit of leather under his finger. Maybe FCD inherited that gene?

And this reminds me of the time my dad almost cut 2 fingers off when using a circular saw. Luckily, one of our neighbors was a nurse and with her help and a trip to the ER, he retained the digits and most of the dexterity.

There are no Publix in Merrylande, but I knew there was one near Fredericksburg, VA - in fact there are 3. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how far a drive they are.
The website says the first is 38.4 miles - Google maps says 60.7
Next is 46.7 vs 62.1. Finally 43.8 vs 59.5. Surely the shorter distances aren’t as the crow flies? In any case, not much chance of me going to any of them.

When we lived in FL, there was one a couple of miles from home. They used to sell a pumpernickel-raisin bread that was amazing!! But the last time I was in one of their stores, they didn’t have any - dunno if they even sell it any longer. Ah, memories…

Meant to ask - are you twins or do you just have birthdays close to each other? (Two of my sisters are May 7 and May 9, but 10 years apart.)

Woke to 26 Ferrets, so there’s still some evil white stuff on the ground. We’re promised sun and mid-50s, which should induce much meltage. It’s laundry day - rah - and I’ll attempt to finish the sewing I avoided yesterday. I also noticed the bathroom needs some attention, so I should tend to that. FCD plans to work in his shop - I hope there’s more finger-awareness.

I already declared that today is clean out the fridge day (for foraging, not scrubbing) since leftovers are accumulating. Not a whole lot else going on. At least not yet. We’ll see how the day progresses.

Happy 13th of Firday!!

You can also successfully freeze them, but I never remember to to that.

Didn’t do my late-night final and boy howdy, it was a busy night for the Mumpers. Up, pilled and dressed for the Firday shopping, just waiting for the school buses (and parents) to deliver the kids to school before heading out. It’s 35F outside right now but due to get to 68F, so a nice warming trend. Getting the ceiling fan installed this morning (JtC, I probably have the skills but mounting a unwieldy and large fan above my head to attach it 10 feet above the floor…nah, I’ll let a pro handle it). Other than that not much excitement today (I hope).

wet one, nice pic of Cheeto (reminds me to pick some up at Kroger-the snack, not the cat).

rocky, had the heater on yesterday, may not need it by the weekend. Hey, March weather is crazy all over.

VanGo, good luck with the internet.

Pavo, great news! Spring break for the kids here is next week.

red, thanks for the ice cream suggestion, I’ll try to remember to have a look today.

JtC, good luck on the passport that the Government is doing it’s best to foul up for you.

Nettie, another great shot of the dynaminc duo.

flyboy, don’t think I’ve ever drank Johnnie Walker (or any strong alcohol), never developed a taste for it, but really nice of the owner to do that.

GenJ, great you had a nice visit, and mosquitos haven’t shown up here yet, but their time is coming. More worried about the fire ants…and everybody has great pet pictures, including yours.

boo fae, enjoy Antwerp, a city I have never seen but is on my bucket list.

FCM, I find the Publix here in N. Ali-bama plentiful, but a bit pricier than Kroger albeit they are cleaner and carry some items Kroger doesn’t..but not worth an hour’s drive.

And it’s 7:40am so school has started and I’m off to do the Firday shopping. Have a good one all.

philly is at 33f this morning. no rain until monday, just partly cloudy.

i got notification that “the chair” has been shipped. looks like there will be clearing and cleaning in my future.

cheeto is adorable.

buddy and kasya are looking so good! keeping the house safe.

what a good pupper girl!

onward to shred day. i will keep all appendages away from the blades.

Happy Friday the thirteenth! Last night, we had a lovely dinner at a Korean hot-pot place called Kpot. We were celebrating 47 years of marriage.

Outdoors, it’s 44 degrees F, and very windy. They’re talking 25-30 mph all day, not counting the gusts. Trees may be blown over, and high-profile vehicles (such as I) may be blown over. I don’t think I’m going anywhere today.

Flyboy, my wife worked for a few years as a bank teller at a drive-up branch. Often, customers would drive up and make a writing gesture to ask for a pen so they could endorse a check. One day, a customer did that, got the pen, and drove away without another word. The tellers laughed about that one for weeks.

The bank had a program to pay for employees’ classes if they were going to school. Mrs. Nott was studying to be an accountant. Here comes the really stupid part. Once she got her degree and passed the CPA exam, they couldn’t afford her. At that time, at that bank, all the supervisory jobs were done by men. Too much knowledge, boom!

We have a new printer, still in its box. Mrs. Nott has a love/hate/hate/hate relationship with printers, so the install will be…interesting. Rolleyes emoji.

I don’t know what the temp is, but the wind is ferocious with gusts up to 60mph. Guess what I get to do today? That’s right, another doctor! And her office is about an hour’s drive! Hopefully today will be my last visit with her. Later this afternoon I’m going to a friend’s barn to see her horse. Her barn is heated. How the other half lives….

I just finished breakfast after Chloé and I got in a walk before we spend five hours in the car. I am looking forward to getting away. I love the Appalachians.

I am all packed. I also packed a few things, in case they want to meet Mollie. Jeez - just typing that made me nervous. I’ll report back how the meeting goes, if it happens.

FCM my sister is four years and three-hundred and sixty-four days younger than me. Mrs Magill is four years and three days younger then me. March gets busy around here.

Off to the shower and to finish packing. Have a lucky Friday the thirteenth.

I miss having access to a Pubic Sto’. I agree that they tend to be pricier than Kroger, but some things they cost less (spices) and have a better variety. Plus there’s their fried chicken.

Happy anniversary knotty!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ll do a load of laundry this afternoon, but otherwise, RDOS.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Yeah, it’s not a bargain grocery store, but it always seemed to be cleaner and better stocked than other stores in my old neighborhood. Still, I mostly just went there for sales, and the bakery.

Elementary schools here don’t start till 9 - after that we’re bus-free till 1:30-ish when the high schools are done.

My credit union keeps pens in the cylinders. I wonder how many disappear weekly…

First load is in the washer. FCD is doing the trash and recycling run. It’s taking a while - I’m wondering if he’s looking for his phone, which he dropped on the garage floor…

Time to empty the dishwasher.

And he just got home - he didn’t even realize his phone was missing.

It really was nice of him. He’s a nice guy. We’ve been going to this restaurant for years, through several iterations. It’s been Bay Breeze since Hun (Hoon?) and his family got it. He’ll come and sit at our table, chat, show us pictures of his little boy, etc.

When I read ‘never developed a taste’, I get this image in my head of my old friend, whom I call BeelzeBob. I believe he has narcissistic personality disorder or something similar. (Once, he ‘deduced’ something to impress me with how smart and clever he is. I’m like, ‘Dude. First, you got that from a Sherlock Holmes story, out of a book that I own, and that you have been reading. Also, you can’t ‘deduce’ where the bathroom window is, when you already know where the bathroom window is.) Anyway, I get this image of a bunch of partying BeelzeBobs throwing back shots of very nice spirits. ‘Why do you throw them back instead of sipping?’ ‘Never developed a taste for it.’ :stuck_out_tongue: Not to compare you to BeelzeBob. It’s just that phrase that reminded me.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 35F and a very sloppy rain is falling. The expected daytime high is only 38F, and rain or a rain/snow mix is expected to last all day. Overnight, there will be some snowfall, but it’ll mostly be rain/snow. It became downright sloppy yesterday, so I never left the house.

Flyboy, congrats on the new job! I’m so relieved for you.

JtC, best of luck with the passport thing. I’m dreading trying to apply for one myself. My last passport expired when I was 18, so it’s been way more than a minute for me.

Loved the pets pics, especially Ms. Sugar-Face. Buddy is quite the handsome kitty! I had an orange kitty named Felix when I first moved out of my childhood home. He was a handsome boy, too.

Mollie, I hope you and the family enjoy the trip. I love the mountains, and out here, they are quite stunning. Mt. Rainier (on non-cloudy days) is always present when I look south.

I spent yesterday doing laundry and tidying up areas that had accumulated some clutter. My husband likes to leave stuff on surfaces, and it drives me crazy. So, every few days, I do a surface purge.

I slept in a bit today, but the last couple hours were filled with disturbing dreams. I woke up from a dream where my kitchen great room was overrun with nightmarishly large scorpions of varying colors and big black spiders. At first, someone was trying to shoot them. Then my husband picked up a big, black scorpion to dispose of it, and I told him to mind the stinger and drop it in the toilet to flush it away. The thing is, that scorpion was huge and wouldn’t easily flush if he tried. The next thing I know, we’re at the door or counter of some new restaurant/market where I’ve been chatting with a staff member. My husband walks up to ask about menu prices, and when the staff member tells him, he turns all assholish. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed, and woke up that way, too.

Well, I need some more coffee. You all take care.

Greetings from the ER. Same saw, same finger. More later.

If at first you don’t succeed…

High winds today will blow in a snow storm tomorrow sometime, carrying over into Sunday. Temps are hanging right at freezing and we could get 8". We haven’t had a real blizzard all winter, so this should be fun.

Got my new hydroponic planter this morning, so I’ll be getting that set up in a bit. Very exciting.
