(Old) Time Is On My Side (?) - A Daylight Savings MMP

It took less than a year, but we’ve had yet another credit card compromised. Lucky for us, our credit union has a very on-the-ball fraud dept. Unlucky for us, we’ll be without our cards for 3-5 days at a cost to expedite of $25 (otherwise it would have been 7-10 days.) So in the interim, we have a backup card.

Wonder which of the accounts where we made purchases let our info out? Dammit.

Kids and Trevor have gone home, dishes are loaded, and Otis is crashed big time. I got my feet tangled in a hunk of vine that Otis had dragged into the yard and I fell as I was rushing to the shop to get FCD’s phone (for the verification code from the credit union.) My jeans have muddy knees and I expect to be hurting tomorrow. Not my day.

And then there’s this for tomorrow. Dammit. I need to get all my erranding done before noon and hope like heck that we don’t lose power.

I had iced Bustelo this morning. I’m still buzzing too.

:star:

Hope that you aren’t too sore tomorrow, Mooooom.

I made Ethiopian berebere lentil stew for supper. ‘Twas good and had lotsa fiber. It will go on the make again list.

Evening all. Have dined at Texas Roadhouse (only ate two of their dinner rolls, one without butter, a superb bit of self-discipline for me…) and exercised at the gym, so back home, caloried up and ready to brace myself for the bad weather due to hit around 11pm. It’s 73F right now, but the Weather Wizards say we won’t reach 40F tomorrow afternoon, so quite a drop. 45mph winds are possible, with the way things are going this month it’ll probably knock some of my wood fence over and I’ll have to pay to get it fixed/replaced–the joys of home ownership…

Cookie, just a slight change there… :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

FCM, I have listened to some K-pop and am OK with it, but will go for my 70’s station if I have any choice in the matter. And you have all the bad luck with the credit cards…I had one replaced last year (only have 2) and check it on-line about twice a week just to be careful. ANd hope the owies don’t interrupt your beauty sleep.

red, that’s the only thing I worry about re-locating to an apartment; I have lived quietly on my own for nearly 30 years and to suddenly have people all around me with relatively thin walls…

Wet one, sounds like the miserable weather started early for you, us folks in the East are having to wait until tomorrow. Glad you and Ariel had some quality time.

GenJ, I can sympathize. I take on a lot of stuff for the soccer organization, and at 73 I’m just not as motivated as I once was. I plan to keep coaching and refereeing until I am 75 and the re-evaluate if I want to continue and how much I am willing to do.

I’ve done that several times with Amtrak, you don’t have to travel west, there are several trains from New York/Washington to Chicago that have overnight service, along with the route from New York south to Washington DC and onward to Miami. Never took an overnight train in Europe, but will be riding a daytime one from Nice to Barcelona in April.

-Pastes sticker on Nut’s chart-
Hope you survive the birthdays and wedding. Can’t remember the last time I dressed up fancy. And a hotel is probably a good idea, there will be enough pre-wedding chaos that avoiding it is worth the cost.

VanGo, it’s new and things are flying around…so the kids will be attracted. Give it a couple weeks and things will settle down. Glad the H.S, stuff is coming along and hooray for the munchkin-students helping out.

And if I don’t get back over here tonight, everyone take care and hopefully the next 36 hours or so will be the last bad weather we have before spring is truly sprung. Take care all.

Howdy Y’all! OYKW rousted himself up and went with me to the nine a.m. service. He is not a fan of Rite I, so this was a true Lenten discipline for him. Afterwards it was back to da cave for a nosh and nappage. We day drank and et the feast leftovers for sup. Tomorrow night is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. The biiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Tomorrow mornin’ we will awake to a temp of 68 Amurrkin with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted. Tuesday mornin’ the low will be 40 ferrets and we will have freezin’ temps on Hump Day. Mother Nature is out drunk and staggerin’ around in the yahd again.

Nuts you deserve a :glowing_star:! A hotel room is a reasonable choice for your own sanity IMO.

VanGo no big surprise the ping pong ball machine is a big hit. Good to know Brian is doin’ well for himself.

MOOOOOOM hope you’re not too owie tomorrow. Hope the weather is not too bad.

Cookie that’s quite a weather change within twenty-four hours.

GenJ my idea of campin’ is a hotel room with no room service and a view of the woods.

It’s after 9pm and the nasty weather is due in about 2 hours, so think I will head off to bed to read awhile (and maybe solve the rest of the NY Times crossword) before things get bad.

swampy, I’ve wondered for awhile, do you buy the steaks for men’s night or is that a collective effort or from Church funds?

And that’s all, folks. Catch all y’all on the next MMP.

If you go for a senior complex, you should be okay.

Sharing a bowl of popcorn with Nelson and doing my evening internettin’.

Our nasty weather will hit after noon. I’ll fill the tub for flushing, just in case we lose power. There’s a gale warning of 35 MPH gusts and possible tornados. This is ahead of front that will plunge us sub-freezing for a few days until normal returns.

So it’ll be CVS and Food Lion first thing, then hunkering down. Here’s hoping no wires come down.

Leg one of Operation Mandatory Florida Retirement is done. On my trip to God’s waiting room, I left Portland, Oregon at about nine this morning and I’m now somewhere in Utah, about an hour north o f SLC in a Motel 6. Eleven hour drive that by ten hours I’d wished was a nine hour drive, but it was a pretty smooth drive. Not too much construction, not too much traffic, only a couple hours in the dark.

I’ll most likely leave earlier tomorrow so an eleven-ish hour drive won’t include so much night driving. The only problem is that eleven hours east of here is basically the middle of nowhere Nebraska, so I’ll have to figure that out.

Me and Bob are none the worse for wear and on our way.

That would be Kearney, Nebraska. It’s the 5th largest city in the state, a nice town, friendly, you and Bob will be welcomed there. Go a couple miles into town (north) to get away from the interstate sameness. There is a Motel 6 there that accepts pets. Lots of good Mexican restaurants and local bars that make great burgers. People will be “Nebraska Nice”.

Look for the Runza fast casual drive through restaurant if you want easy and inexpensive. It’s a local chain-very good burgers and fries, onion rings and salads. Try a Runza-handmade bread around ground beef, cabbage and spices.

In the morning get your coffee from Scooters-vastly better than Starbucks and a huge cup of fresh brewed from beans roasted in Nebraska can be had for $3 (just a large is $2).. There’ll be a pup cup for Bob if you let them know he’s riding shotgun.

Two hours later wave at me as you drive by Lincoln. I’ll be sitting on my couch drinking coffee with a cat on my lap and reading the MMP.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 67 degrees Ferret Height(19.444 Centipedes)

Yay!

Two weeks ago at this time it was an hour earlier. - Fake Yogi Berra quote I made up.

If we must have alternate savings and standard time, I really wish the switch to savings time would happen at the end of April the way it used to. In that case at least it would be light out when I got up.

I do appreciate how my phones, TV, and computers now automatically make the changes. My car isn’t automatic but it only takes a couple of button pushes to manage. The microwave and the stove are the only ones that require some mental effort on my part.

On BippityBoppityBoo’s recommendation, I have made it all the way to Kearney, NE. I did not partake of the Runza feast only because I don’t eat red meat, but they look pretty amazing. Straight shot, eleven hours, crossed another time zone so I lost another hour, but the five day plan is right on track.

Hell, if I really pressed it, I could make it in four. It’s only another 22 or so hours.
