Howdy Y’all! Been a sinusy day at da cave. Both of us are feelin’ it. Must be sump’n in the air. Anywho, we both napped with Ben, which has helped. I fixed sup and we et and got the kitchen cleanded up. I have semi-read all, but my sinusy haid prevents the ability to respond, so I shall catch up later.
I had a to do list this morning, which included going to the bank and doing early voting. Since it’s a federal holiday, neither of those happened. I cleaned out my pantry looking for honey. I found the honey in a cabinet that is not part of the pantry, but at least my pantry no longer has any expired fuds.
I know what it is without looking. The heat is ::bumbumbumbum:: ON! ::cue sax solo::
I did, too.
Thx for the earworm, all y’all
Got the recycling taken back, did some roaming, then DH and I could not agree on where to go for lunch-ish (not really the usual time of day for either lunch or dinner). He wanted Weinerschnitzel, which I don’t really care for, so I had him drop me at the Subway near our apartment, then go off on his own. Nice walk back from Subway, very good weather for it. Got home to a fair amount of feline commentary, apparently trying to get their canned goo early (not happening, they can wait until the usual time).
Dude. C’mon. Chili Cheese Dogs. They’re like crack.
I don’t like their chili.
I’m thinking that I would have called CPS. Child endangerment is letting your little kid remain standing in a moving vehicle.
Yay!
The City Mouse / Country Mouse?
Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian Mumpers!
A lot of the locals refer to it as Stinkadena.
Irked and was tired all day. Last night, I had a broken night’s sleep. I had been in bed for about an hour and a half and asleep for about an hour when I awoke to a rattling outside and Nelson barking his little head off. I began to think and figured out that the printer ink that was supposed to be delivered hadn’t come. I got up, turned on the porch light, looked through the peephole at the stoop and didn’t see anything. Then I opened the door and there it was. WTH Jungle?!?! It was 9:30 on a Sunday night!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Last week someone opened the window with the hole in the screen a bit too far and our youngest two cats went out. We’ve seen them on the back porch several times, and one actually followed our daughter into the house, but ran back outside before she could shut the door. This evening I refilled the dish of kibble we’ve been putting out for them, and one came up on the porch and started eating while I was still standing there. He let me pet him a few times, so I scooped him up, brought him inside, and shut the door. He was very unhappy for a few minutes, but is now sitting on the bed beside me. Now if we can just get hold of his brother…
It means you don’t have to put shoes on to go and fetch the mail.
Waves at you. Be careful out there, TX traffic is like none other.
Good for you. You can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself as well.
I still have to force myself to get out of the car at the gym. Swimming laps is boring and trying to keep up with a skinny-minny aerobics teacher is frustrating. I’m not going to renew my class pass but I’ll keep doing laps.
Today’s swim got cut short because someone came in with their toddler. Children need to learn how to swim and I was probably that age when I learned. I don’t remember learning how to walk or swim. I remember watching my folks teaching my sisters so I assume they did the same things with me.
The lady with the child didn’t do anything I remember my folks doing. The kid started melting down when they came out of the dressing room. It never got better, that kid did NOT want to be in the water and did NOT want to learn how to put her face in the water. The lifeguard got involved and the kid stopped screaming as loudly but I couldn’t take listening to the echoing screams of terror so I gave up and left.
Why did that have to happen? Do they think 90+ year old people start getting younger and healthier? Or is it just another money grab…like my MMJ card is?
Way back in the day, I knocked a glass of soda over a friend’s needlework. That learned me to always use a covered glass or mug.
I since married Hubs and have bought him many covered drinking vessels. He never uses them, he just argues unsuccessfully with the cats while amusing his wife.
I have a small oil filled radiant space heater that is perfectly safe to use overnight as long as it is used properly. It doesn’t get hot enough to burn fur or skin and doesn’t heat up a room enough to make it hot. Have you considered getting one of those?
You just made a joke, right? AZ drivers are aggressive and TX drivers are mean, but Albuquerque drivers are all of that and unpredictable.
I don’t get it. Everyone I’ve interacted with in NM, including Albuquerque have been delightful, lovely people and the drivers outside of Albuquerque have been considerate and predictable.
I hope you have a great trip and I’m sure that things will be fine at home. I really hope that your airport is nicer than Sky Harbor AZ and that you won’t be sat next to a tobacco junky on your flight. (I used to be one of those and we stink)
I’ve given up trying to remember and just have notepads in the areas of our home that I usually occupy. I write notes as I think of things and then the next morning I wander around and gather up all my notes to plan my day. If I happen to miss the notes in one room, it’s no big deal. I’ll find it the next day.
Don’t you just love that sort of thing. Happy Moanday indeed!
You are SUCH a good doggy mommy!
I’m so sorry about your families loss. Cancer sucks.
I love your LEGO nook
Of course the first thing I did was go to the Pit, but then I remembered how much I respect your opinion and did not look. Reading forward, I see that I am glad that I did not, but do know that I have sent many bad thoughts at your neighbor just on your word alone.
You have no clue. This isn’t new btw. Sometimes one of us will look at the other and ask “How come we always end up with the spoiled pets?” because neither of us have any clue how that happens.
I was going to post here after dinner, but Jolene managed to rip a seam out of her favorite mousie so I had to deal with that first. I pushed the stuffing to the sides and filled the hole with catnip (and of course gave the bogart a pile) then used some sparkly thick wool to sew the wound together. Watching them play distracted me so much that I forgot who was being spoiled.
HURRAY!!! I’m so happy for both of you. Such a handsome kittah!
The war was lost before the first shot was fired. She has him convinced that she can’t get to the 6 ft tall platform on their tree. She will meow and rub and circle and beg until he picks her up and puts her in the crow nest. She will give herself a little face wash and then jump down the staggered platforms to follow him into his room for a drink of water.
Bring food, that always works!
Cats can use human insulin because they were the ones it was tested on. Nowadays pet insulin is super expensive which is how I learned to buy human insulin instead. The needles are hair fine, kitty doesn’t notice and I sometimes didn’t notice if I stuck myself by mistake.
Bless her heart!
I’m so happy you had a good moment
We are reaching out to the swing voters, Hubs has a red sign with white letters that says “Kamala Harris is a Poopyhead”. So far the neighbors are still talking to us and our home hasn’t been egged.
Can’t be worse than Sacramento.
As for the to-do I was trying to remember, I’m pretty sure it was the recycling, which has been handled (another $21 in the wallet is always nice).
Haven’t gotten as far as I would like on the Closet From Hell, but there’s been some progress. DH is currently trying to sort out how to manage the shop he really wants the Jeep to go to not wanting to deal with our insurance company due to past problems with them. This surprised me, because USAA’s always been quite good to deal with on the policyholder side. My preferred strategy, since it is doable, is to pay the shop ourselves then file for reimbursement (our insurance then goes after the at-fault guy who rear-ended DH and his insurance for repayment of that money), which has been confirmed acceptable to USAA.
JtC - the video call (or an actual dr visit) is a Medicare requirement. The nurse said sometimes people get well enough that they don’t need Hospice. Then there’s MIL.
Tahred. Nighty-night!
I love you, but why are you answering numbers you don’t know. Let them go to voice mail, if it is important, they will leave a message.
I do agree that it was a scammers, they lie better than cats.
Go you! I get my best work done when I’m trying to do other things. Was the honey still good?
Ya wanna know about grudges? Back around 40 years ago, we walked into a Weinerschnitzel and ordered enough food to feed three teenagers and two adults. I don’t remember how much it was but after we ordered, I asked where the restroom was. It was outside and had a coin slot.
I went back in and asked for the key because paying customers shouldn’t need to pay to pee. The worker assured me that yes, nobody got to pee for free.
We cancelled our order and demanded our money back because we couldn’t wait for the food to be done before finding another place with a restroom their customer could use.
Never been back to one since.
I do like Culvers. I haven’t seen any here but the one in AZ had great cheese curds.

Now if we can just get hold of his brother…
Can you maybe borrow a live trap? We once had to do that when one of ours escaped.

DH is currently trying to sort out how to manage the shop he really wants the Jeep to go to not wanting to deal with our insurance company due to past problems with them.
Is the poor man maybe hyper focused on the little problem instead of remembering that you two are the ones who get to pick the shop? As long as the shop will accept the payout, the insurance company doesn’t care who does the work.

JtC - the video call (or an actual dr visit) is a Medicare requirement.
So like my MMJ card. I guess that once in a while people do get better, but mostly they just get older.
I had a nice long nap. Spot spent the whole nap with me. Now it’s Mushroom Swiss burgers and Old Fashioned for dinner.
The heat is not on here.

B-b-but then it won’t have his lip prints on it!
Spot doesn’t his own glass, he wants mine, because cat logic.

*Katy Manning, know for being a companion (Jo Grant) to Doctor Who (Jon Pertwee), is one of the few people I miss from quitting Twitter. Such a cheery person
Indeed!

said he’d gotten it all.
Yay!

The nurse said sometimes people get well enough that they don’t need Hospice. Then there’s MIL.

Tahred.
Dad used to say, ‘Tahred. T-U-R-D, tahred.’
Curiouser and curiouser. Will the insanity ever end? When the maintenance guy was here programming the thermostat, I said I guessed from the sounds I heard last night that there were new tenants upstairs. He said no, that apartment was still vacant, and so is the one across the hall from it, that he’d just been up there. He said he did find a men’s jacket there. I said I went outside last night and saw the bedroom overhead light was on. (That’s the room facing the entrance to the building.) He said, “Huh.”
I forgot to tell him I heard adult footsteps both last night and when I got up at 6:30 this morning. The footsteps started again at 5:30, after the office closed. Who the heck is up there? Squatters? How would anybody get in? My sister said maybe the last renters–the people with the kids running and jumping until 1 a.m. came back, but I don’t hear any kids. Besides, surely management changed the locks.
Where is Scooby-Doo when you need him?

I love you, but why are you answering numbers you don’t know. Let them go to voice mail, if it is important, they will leave a message.
I answer because I have so many medical practices calling me, and most of them don’t call from the same number I use to call them. Most won’t leave a VM, and when it’s an appointment maker, I often can’t reach them with a return call. (Medical stuff around here is serious f’d up.) My mistake was in not just hanging up, which is what I do if I do get a scam or spam call, but them knowing my name and looks threw me. I have a good spam filter that identifies robocalls and spam, but it didn’t catch this one.
I know misnomer is right, and my sister agrees, so I’ll venture forth tomorrow.

Now if we can just get hold of his brother…
Oh, I hope you do!

I’m thinking that I would have called CPS. Child endangerment is letting your little kid remain standing in a moving vehicle.
I never thought of that, and you think I would’ve, since I used to be a mandated reporter. The problem is, all I have is a description and the stop where they got off the bus. I don’t think that’s enough to go on. And the buses are free here, so it’s not like she could’ve used her phone to pay a fare or anything.

Not long after Columbus day 1979 we were not married…
Well, I hope there are a few happy memoriesmixed in with the bittersweet.
shoe, I’ll have to find the mini-rants thread. It sounds like whatever happened was really disturbing. Yikes.

He’s a large white shorthaired marshmallow
Aw, what a Very Good Boy! Handsome, too!
swampy, I hope you and your sweetheart are both feeling better by tomorrow.

Are most of the fields lit? What happens if they don’t get a lighted field?
About 20% of the soccer fields are lighted, the rest depend on the sun and with it setting these days by 6:15pm (we usually start practice around 5:30pm), we hardly get started before it gets to dark to see. It’s ok earlier in the Fall, it stay light until 7pm or so, but the days just keep getting shorter. Just glad I could figure it out before someone else grabbed the field.
Can’t leave you folks alone for 10 hours, too much life happening… Me, I did my swimming and then went back after dinner for an encore performance, Sunday and Monday are my high-calorie days (mostly from eating out) so keeping it under control is something I look to do. Must be working, scale says 208.2lbs tonight. Off to bed soon after finishing this message (given the amount of commentary, hopefully I’ll finish before 2sday starts…)
nellie, strange calls and people in an apartment that isn’t occupied…you’re sure your not in a M. Night Shyamalan movie? Concur that the call was probably a scam, but keep a record of the noises/voices from the ‘empty’ apartment and make sure the folks in charge know about it. And hope the heater is working; it’s 49F here and all my open windows from this morning are now shut.
flyboy, glad it was quick and mostly painless for Wifey, RN.
Niner, nice pic and glad the injections are working well.
Shoe, nice living next to the Psycho ward…best wishes to you and Monkey.
Cupcakes, that was quite a trip down memory lane.
Nettie, never been to a Weinerschnitzel, closest one to me is Texas and the times I was near one something else appealed to me first.
red, I can’t recall ever getting something delivered that late; must have been having a doggio type day.
Herald, hope cat #2 gets back home soon.
JtC, I try to daydream while doing my laps, usually something Walter Mitty-like. And I think I learned to swim from the YMCA, at least that is my earliest memory. Kid is probably terrorized for life now. And just looked and no Culvers in W. Virginia, looks like Ohio or Kentucky are the closest.
And it’s after 11pm, I did not get a nap and have been up since 6am, so off to bed. Catch y’all on 2sday.

my chapter of MENSA (Mentally Eclectic Neurotic Smart Asses).
I am sooooo stealing this! [if I can remember it]

Why did that have to happen? Do they think 90+ year old people start getting younger and healthier? Or is it just another money grab…like my MMJ card
Sorry, Jane. After I spent half an hour typing a response discourse refused it because….blah, blah, blah.
Since I just got home at 10:30pm after spending 3 (!!) hours getting a 3 year old to go to sleep and stay asleep, I don’t have it in me to do it all over again.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 49 degrees Ferret Height, so the heat will be on in Carmen.

This is why I have a cat and not a 3 year old.
