Silly me, I have both.
The 3 year old keeps me up at night. The cat wakes me up (relentlessly) at the earliest glimmers of day light. Stands outside my closed bedroom door and meows piteously because she is bored? Lonely?

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 15c/59f, and cloudy. Weather app says “The fucking sun is hiding. Ollie, ollie, oxen free, fucker!” It’s definitely cloudy out there, and also quite cool so the heating has decided we need a little bit of warmth just to take the edge off.
That’s fabulous news, even better if it lets you plan a trip that sounds like it will do you a world of good.
{{{{{shoe}}}}} I read your blurry post in the other place, it’s rough being both angry and sad at the same time.
Get yourself a padded seat cover
Cookie congrats on getting some heat!
That’s very good news for you and Mrs LA. I hope she gets to rest for a while after that experience.
He just needed to be reminded that inside is warm as well as safe and cosy, outside much less so. I hope his brother turns up and demands to be reunited!
nellie that was indeed a very weird phone call but it does sound very much like a scammer who made some lucky guesses about hair and height, and wasn’t quite prepared for someone who didn’t cave in immediately. Also, very strange about the noises from upstairs - could the old tenants have returned to finish emptying the place? It does seem odd that the locks haven’t been changed, so it’s worth noting the times you’ve seen and heard things and mentioning it to the building managers.
JtC put your bins out!
Nothing much exciting in my day so far - last night I emptied all the bins and hauled the biiiiig recycling bin out for collection. I have to do it the night before they’re due to come because there’s no telling what time they’ll show up. This morning the dustcart came up the street before I was even out of bed so it’s a good thing my bin was ready and waiting. It looks like the idiot neighbours got their bin emptied too, and I couldn’t see anything sitting on their front path so they’ve either learned to hide stuff in the middle of the bin or they actually didn’t have any kettles or frying pans to get rid of this week. Biiiiiig bin has been returned to where it lives until next time.
Logged into irk, had a quick poke through the inboxes - we have a student who’s gone missing (well, not missing, just hasn’t registered for year 2 so we think he’s not going to) and someone is looking for an academic to translate a 10th century document that’s in Latin. Nothing that resembles a skip fire there. The incoming head of dept for half my job sent a long-winded email with a detailed reasoning for a request instead of just asking to be added to all of our module pages…bless her…
Today I have to log into a College forum thing for professional services staff. We were hoping to ignore it because they’re never very exciting but apparently attendance is mandatory although that wasn’t specified. So I shall log in and amuse myself doing other things while the worthies drone away in the background. I have campus food to prep later as I’m fit enough to be amongst the travelling public again, and tonight we have grocery shopping to do. That’s more than enough excitement for one day.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN Also feelin’ a lot less sinusy. Yay for that. ‘Tis 49 (BRRR!) Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 77 and N.O.S. Temps will be droppin’ tomorrow, so looks like we may need to crank up some heat at least in the mornin’. Then we’ll probably have second Summer. The big item on today’s agenda is a doc appointment at eight-thirty this mornin’. On the plus side, I won’t see the vampires today. After that, since I will be out, I shall do a few errandy things. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy. Good thing we don’t mind leftovers.
BooFae glad you feel better. Not glad that you must once again be amongst the great unwashed. That’s the right way to do one of those on-line forum/trainin’ thingys.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe! Oh bother!
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Zoiks!
I have never ever done that before!
I had to take Annie to the vet yesterday because of her incessant itching. They gave her an anti-itch shot. I don’t know how long it’s supposed to take to work, because she’s still itching this morning.
Later today I’ll be heading back to the mall again. They’ve got my price tags ready, so I can take my new resin stuff that I’ve made in. I got the sales report from them and I’ve sold two items - one of which was no surprise. I’m not allowed to sell my possibly offensive ‘diet forks’ at the other art place, so I’ve got them for sale at the new one and I already sold one in the first two week period since I’ve been there!
Ok, off to find some work to do, hopefully. The freelance site I’ve been on lately was acting wonky yesterday.
On this day in 1960, two young lovers who would eventually become my parents got married. They made it just six weeks short of a half century. I miss them both.
The job site here in “Stinkadena” is quite an anomaly. It is clean, will-lit, quiet, and climate-controlled. I’ve worked in places that are none of those things, and I usually feel lucky if I get two of them. Should be a relatively pleasant couple of weeks.
Good morning.
It’s 56F and cloudy, but rain is expected at any moment. We’ll have showers this morning, but the afternoon will be overcast, and our expected high temperature will be 60F. I still haven’t turned on the heat, but my husband keeps making noise about doing so. I plan to hold off as long as I can. He’ll just have to wear a sweater.
Sticky Buns, I hope the meds start to work for Annie. I was told to put Maisie on hydrolyzed food to help with skin issues. Honestly, I didn’t think she had any, but this type of food is supposed to help with itchy skin.
My husband took the garbage and recycling bins down last night. The garbage will be emptied early in the morning, but for some reason, the recycle guys don’t come until the afternoon now.
Swampy, yay for feeling less sinusy. I have been fighting a cold for the last several days. I hope it doesn’t become an actual cold because I need to go to the office tomorrow.
BooFae, I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Nellie, I agree with all the others: a scammer. As to the apartment noises, I’d keep notes on times and hand them over to management. You don’t want squatters up there.
Flyboy, I’m glad things went well for SWMBO.
Welp, I need to finish the coffee and get the last few dishes in the dishwasher. These dishes are dirtied after I load the dinner dishes, so it’s just a couple. Then it’s upstairs to work to deal with many emails and continue working on a SharePoint site.
I used to have one of those that was part of my winterizing of the RV. It didn’t drop below freezing in Portland very often, but when it did I’d plug that in to keep things from freezing inside. Yeah, they’re pretty safe, as there is no exposed heating element.
Tobias is going thru the same phase, but he’s not quite 3 - surely he’s an advanced child! My opinion - Daughter lets her kids get away with too much. But that doesn’t happen here - my house, my rules! So there!
I need to get a bedroom clock with a bigger display. When I wake at stoopit o’clock, I sometimes need to grab my glasses to see if it’s 2, 3, or 5-something. This morning, it was 3-something. But I did fall back to sleep before dragging out around 6:30 to do my shoulder exercises and tread the mill.
Shortly I’ll head to Aldi for food and Staples for printer ink. Then home to empty the dishwasher and change the sheets on our bed and drag out the 'lectric blanket. So a majorly full day ahead…
Guess I’ll slurp down the last of my diet coke and find a jacket - it’s 46° at the moment and not supposed to hit even 60 today!! But 70s predicted this weekend.
Anyways, Happy Tuesday!
Morning all. Up right at 8am according to the alarm clock, so a good nights sleep. Just waiting for another 30 minutes before breaking my fast (my thyroid pill requires an empty stomach and 30-60 minutes after taking it before eating). It’s 49F and only getting to 68F today, but next week is due to get back into the 80’s so will resist bringing out the heavy comforter until November. Nothing much on the schedule today, more gym time and might actually do some house-irk.
boo fae, I may do that. No problems with it yesterday, maybe I was just riding too long (try to do it in 20-20 minute shifts). Glad you got your bin out in time, mine heads to the curb tomorrow night along with the recyclables one.
Just curious, is that ‘bless her’ because she did things right or more like the Southern sardonic ‘well, bless her heart’ thing?
Sticky Buns, hope the shot works for Annie, itching is no fun. And Yea! for the sales.
Wheelie, sounds like a great place to be working; enjoy.
Alrighty then, need to finish up mt Dope-reading and then get a Red Delicious apple out to break my fast (two apples/day Tue/Fri and two banana/day Sat/Mon…health conscious, I iz… Have a good 2sDay all.
The nights are getting cold, but the low temps are supposed to go back up into the 40s starting Friday night. Our real worry is the bobcat that’s known to be in the area.
I slept til almost 8:30. That is the middle of the day for me.
JtC the honey was still good. It now lives in its official place in the spice cabinet.
No plans for today except to ride Ariel. It’s chilly and windy though. She may be spicy…
Aldi run done, printer cartridges acquired, pot roast in the slow cooker for supper, dishwasher emptied, everyone has been lunched, Jessica has been here, showered MIL, then departed with a sack of 5 lap blankets. I’m about to settle in to work on #6.
After only 2 days of shoulder exercises, it’s already feeling better. I should have been doing them for months now, but, yanno, unmotivated.
Major brain fart - I thought my SS payment was late. Nope - I was looking for it a week early. Duh. OK, on to my recliner.
I’m sitting the grocery store parking lot waiting for my mom to get a vaccine of some sort. I’m also unfortunately anxiously waiting for the mail to get to my house. There’s 3 letters from my insurance and I’m guessing one is the response to my appeal about gel injections. I have remarkably low expectations.
After this we’re heading over to the mall to add more of my stuff.
I forgot to mention earlier that I’m somewhat conflicted about the cleaners who were there yesterday. I think I said before that they were a group of women in recovery from drugs and alcohol. They were all very nice and I’m glad we could be a part of helping them grow and continue to recover. However, they didn’t do that great of a job. Overall the house looks better than it did before, but they were not very detail oriented. Like, the person that cleaned upstairs did a much better job than the people who cleaned on the first floor. Even so, as I went to turn the light off after admiring the art room, the light was dusty and covered in cobwebs. I don’t know. I doubt I’ll say anything, but I just keep thinking about it.
Thanks, Taters for the food suggestion.
Reasonable heaving for a Tuesday. I did my Aldi run, now it’s naptime.
The junk people came today, so the pile of questionable mattresses, assorted broken furniture, and the kitchen sink is no more.

I once had a coworker who passed two days before the 50th anniversary. I found out the planned party became the wake, to celebrate a life.
I have this one in my living room. Large numbers so I can see it from across the room.
Got in a 16 block walk today. No idea how far that is, as city blocks vary widely. I was gone about 25 minutes, so I’m guessing about a mile or a bit more. Nice brisk day with the leaves turning and falling. Got to walk through a couple of piles, which made me smile.
My ceiling is dripping.
They shut the a/c off. They used to wait a week before turning the heat on to let the pipes drain.
Not this time.
A lot of damage ceiling.
DENIED
That looks like it might do the job - and I see it comes in different colors of lights. Must discuss with my bedmate.
MIL’s conversations are all over the place today. Within about 30 minutes, she started out asking where in Aldi I got the pot roast (um, next to the hamburger and steaks…) then told me (again) about her first cruise and the dancing waiters, then something about her electric blanket, then back to the pot roast, asking how I was cooking it (in the crock pot that she went to the kitchen to look at.)
We’ve both noticed how she’s getting more vague and confused, and she’s constantly freezing - I just covered her with the electric blanket and an afghan on top.
I just ordered some more yarn - apparently there’s quite a need for blankets in Hospice, so I’m going to make as many as I can. I need to organize the yarn, tho - the bags are too random. I wish I had a spare shelf or rack. I guess I can do something with a few of the Amazon boxes in the garage. Must consider…
