(Old) Top O' the Mundane To Ya- A St. Patrick's Day MMP

Illinois plays tonight starting approximately 9:45pm on CBS. They’re playing Xavier, who won their play-in game, in Milwaukee. They play 25 minutes after the conclusion of the KY vs Troy game, so in just a little over an hour.

Holy crap, I’m able to sleep in tomorrow. I fully expect to be up at like 6.

That’s how I take them off. :stuck_out_tongue:

Almost any infection has the potential to cause heart issues with her. She had rheumatic fever as a child and has to be very careful, even with dental work.

I finished up the assembly of the set of holiday cards this evening. I kind of like them.

I napped. I dreamed a bear broke into the apartment and crawled into bed with me. Then Spot jumped into bed, and tried to sleep on my larynx. There was something on the floor when I woke up, and I assumed Spot had killed a bug. Nimrod actually killed a piece of dryer lint. I’m watching F1 practice, where the one engineer described the shape of the Shanghai track as “A bunny on skis”.

Blackmail files.

You guys need to hire Glen Frey

Ouch! {{{JtC}}}

A Triceratops.

Especially the one on the left.

Wow! That was some excitement. I hope you heal quickly.

I wanted a tiger or lion.

And it’s time for the late-evening report. Spent a fair amount of time at the gym, swimming, exercising, and doing weight training with the personal trainer, so should be in better shape. Home for a little bit then off to the soccer fields to help train 9 year olds (keeping track of a dozen 9-10 year old boys is a handful). Then home to a big bowl O’Sallit and signed up to referee a 10U game at 4:30pm tomorrow about 7 miles up the road. So a fairly constructive day. Supposed to reach 71F tomorrow, so should be a comfortable day to be out.

And I’m sort of signed up for a trip in April 2026 on a large 7-mast sailing ship to Portugal and Spain, so I have a year to get ready for that. Not as expensive as I thought it would be, but if anyone wants to room with me…(but you have to pay your own way).

Hehehehehehe…

red, glad the gasket is now working, now as long as the doohickey doesn’t jam or the whatchamacallit doesn’t break, you should be good to go…and I hope SIL is doing some long-term planning for nephew, sounds like he will need it someday.

Oopsie, yeah, that sounded like a bad deal on the cyber program; best be good at your new jobfrst and foremost. Have fun assembling.

Cookie, between my plumbing woes and your heating horrors, life could stand some improvement; hope your heat is coming back soon.

flyboy, enjoy the party.

JtC, Oh No! :scream: You take care of yourself and even if you can’t write here, we’ll be thinking about you.

Nellie, always good to see you around these parts. As for pets, we had a hard enough time convincing my dad to get us a puppy, so we know anything else was a pipe dream.

And that’s all for tonight. Given the workout today and about 5-6 hours with soccer tomorrow, sleepage will be soon tonight. Take care all.

JtC, I’m so sorry!

FCM, any update on BIL?

Illinois won. They play Kentucky on Sunday.

You’re asking the chick who grew up reading wildlife guidebooks & currently goes to sleep via nature documentaries if she wanted her very own snow leopard?!?

Oh, you floozy, you.

This had to be the quietest Friday night on record. I’m not saying I misssss the drunk assholes, but, like, not even one? to liven things up a bit?

So to brighten the day, I burned my lunch break going to the pet store, to spend money buying crickets, to feed Car(e)less Co-worker’s former roommates’ pet bearded dragon, who is currently taking up a shitload of space in my damn living room, mostly so I could loudly announce when I got back, “There are crickets in my car!!! How was your lunch break?” cuz I’m an obnoxious bitch like that.

Oh no! I hope the pain is not too bad and that you heal quickly.

Hugs to you, SIL and nephew.

Hope you can see them from inside the house / on the porch. Watch out for groundhog holes if you go wandering about.

I woke up at 5 to use the bathroom and didn’t get back to sleep. Hope you managed to sleep in.

I like them too. Very cheery. The green snowman really draws my attention.

Starting from the U.S.? Wow. Sounds cool, but we’re supposed to cruise to Norway in summer 2026, so that’ll fulfill our big trip requirement for 2026.

I’m presuming you just got crickets as a response. :cricket:

Today’s going to be very warm today (16°C/61°F) for this time of year, so there will be some gardening/lawn work done. After we go for a walk and watch a section the train bridge get replaced.

Lunch is tacos and we need to remember to eat the raspberry ice cream I made 2 weeks ago.

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 72 and N.O.S. As I already mentioned, I shall be chef for my workin’ co-parishioners today. I’ll head over around ten-thirtyish to do so. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS mode. Any need to feed today will be via forage as we have plenty of sammich makin’s, chips and so forth.

{{{JtC}}} Oh no! Hope you heal soonest. I can understand bein’ mad at yourself. On the other hand you provided entertainment for the neighbors which is not a bad thing in a rural area.

WetOne I thought chikin a la king was soooooo fancy when I was a wee cub. I really like the plate. Tres chic!

Nellie growin’ up I never wanted an exotic pet. We had quite the menagerie of dawgs, cats, rabbits, and gerbils. My oldest bro once had a garden snake kept in a shoe box under his bed for a few days. Mom was less than amused when she found it. I think I would like a miniature dragon, but as doggio pointed out, it would be all fun and games until the neighbor’s shih tzu got incinerated.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ chef de cuisine for my co-parishioners.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

JtC, I hope you can forgive yourself for not being clairvoyant and I hope you heal quickly.

I’m currently sitting with a poodle on my lap. And trying to figure out what’s the order of operations today. I am going to make two kinds of meatloaf for dinner and appropriate side dishes. I also need to straighten up the kitchen and work on some laundry.

First, though, I need the motivation to start!

We’re operating under “no news is good news” and we haven’t heard anything in quite a while. All things considered, it’s best for us to maintain our distance rather than contact him. And so it goes…

No, I never wanted a unique pet. I did want to be an only child, tho. 4 younger sibs is 4 too many!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I woke around 6:30 when FCD came back to bed. He was hurting pretty bad yesterday - I’m guessing he more than overdid working on the boat. For a smart man…

To be fair, I didn’t wake entirely because of him. I was having a super bizarre dream - that I was in WalMart and was able to walk right up to a manned checkout without waiting in line. Can you imagine???

I was going to ask if it was Star Clipper, but their biggest is only 5 masts. We looked into their cruises some years back. I might look again. We did a cruise on a schooner thru Maine back in 2010, but, sadly, we picked a crappy boat with a crappy captain. The saving grace was the cook - he was amazing!!!

Sketty sauce is out to thaw. I’m thinking I’ll cook up some rotini, then make a big pasta bake because it’s easy to serve, and with Tobias, there should be multiple servings. I’ve also got a loaf of italian bread that I’m thinking I’ll slather with garlic butter and warm in the oven. Plus there’s fruit and some cuke salad. I think that’s a good lunch option. Daughter said they’d be here late morning and I’m aiming for lunch around 12:30.

I’m hoping to get her to go thru the toys in the basement. Some of them are definitely baby toys that need to be gone. Not sure where they’ll go to - my favorite thrift store has tons of toys already. Maybe Daughter knows someone with littles.

I figure after their visit, I’ll be ready to collapse. My grands are a delight, but they do wear me out.

Later today, FCD and I have to decide on the next BritBox series. We finished The Bay last night. Lucky for us, there are a gazillion police procedurals to choose from. I tried a couple of comedy series, but I couldn’t get into them. I’m sure we’ll find something.

We’re supposed to get close to 70° today, but dropping to 35° overnight. I was going to move some plants outside, but I’m going to wait till it no longer goes under 40° at night. Maybe next week? Anyway, there’s my day. I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

Happy Saturday!!

Happy Saturday! We might get as high as 37F today, with a slim chance of ostriches.

Well, actually Libson, Portugal will be the point of Departure. And I’ll let you know how Norway goes (as will FCM who is going earlier than I am).

It’s called the Royal Clipper, so might be the same, and I might have exaggerated on the number of masts, but there is a lot of them…

And a good morning to all. Have Instant-Breakfasted and had a banana to accompany it, so have the morning calories. Soccer starts at 10am with the littles, then at Noontime has the 12u group, and finish things off by refereeing at 4:30pm, so should be a busy day. Only 52F now but due to reach 70F so should be a good day for outdoors activity.

So onward I go. Have a god weekend all.

Pics or it didnt happen.

Illinois won 86 - 72. Their next game is Sunday at 5:15 on CBS against Kentucky.

Ugh I had hoped this week was finally going to be better for you given some of the recent court rulings, etc.

So many red flags - sounds like a bullet dodged on that one!

If y’all weren’t about to be popsicles it would be comical at this point. Did they get the heat back on?

Oh nooooo!! At least it sounds like you managed to find quite an audience to witness your embarrassment

red Those cards are lovely!

That sounds amazing! I find I enjoy time on a sailboat so much more than the motorized variety - the sound of the boat moving through the water and the wind ruffling the canvas is just magical.

My day should be fairly laid back and chill. It will be warm and sunny, so perfect weather to run a few errands. I need to figure out some meals/groceries for the week. So exciting!

Ice cream that lasted 2 weeks? Your self control is much greater than mine.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The agenda today includes putting my tax docs together to go to H&R Block tomorrow and going an hour and change north to see SIL in the hospital. Other than that, not a whole lot happening.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

It was back on this morning. I raised enough hell last night that the building manager called me from home to try to smooth things over. I told her that all I ask for is for someone to tell me what the fuck is going on so I don’t have to stress out about it.
