(Old) Trip Planning in the MMP

Been doing mammos for 40 years. The ‘new’ digital ones are much, much easier than the early, horror story ones. I recommend going to an imaging center that specializes in mammos. They do so many that they get very good (and fast) at it.

Never hurts to take some ibuprofen just before you leave just in case, so you don’t have to worry about it.

The weird thing is they don’t want deodorant or powder on your upper torso so don’t put any on after your shower. They’ll have little deodorant wipes there for you to use after your mammo is over.

Just do it. A baseline at your age is great to have.

Sent an imaging center specializing in mammograms to your Dope message box.

The city of Melbourne suffered a huge storm yesterday, knocking out power across the city, including me. An inconvenience that wasn’t helped by it being the tail end of a heatwave, so it was quite uncomfortably hot still with no aircon to fend it off. So, early to bed, early to rise, and now it’s all back on here, but not everywhere. Still a lot of clean up from the storms to be done, and interruptions to catch up on.

OMG - that was a heck of a storm to destroy those towers so thoroughly! Just a reminder to respect Nature!

The sketty sauce I made today was an exceptionally good batch! I have 4 meal-size bags in the freezer, and I mixed some tri-color rotini in what remained, adding some mozzarella and parm to make a yummerrific pasta bake! I’m sending some of the leftovers to MIL - should be 2 meals worth.

We were unanimously in agreement that $13K is too much for gutters with guards. We can get someone out here twice a year for at least 25 years to clean the gutters for that much. So I’ve put out some inquiries about having that done. Bummer that Bob, our old gutter guy, got out of the business, but it happens.

OK, back to my knitting needles.

I will knit someday!
Odd, my skin feels warmer than usual when I touch my neck, etc. I wonder if I have a small fever. I feel ok, few days ago I had a slight sore throat but I think it was from my sinuses.
I will take a tylenol and go to bed early tonight. No, I don’t have any covid tests and can’t afford them right now.

And a late but happy afternoon to all. Have pedaled and sauna’ed and will shortly add back some of those calories, but right now just getting into sloth mode. Still about 50F outside, so that’s pretty good. What isn’t good is that my periodic checks of my water meter just are not adding up to what should be my regular usage. I’ll do some more checks, mostly from times I am not using water or have a very low rate and see if I have to get the plumbers back. Don’t want to accuse them of a bad job, but…

BatBoy, that looks like some of the damage that was done around here by a level 4 tornado some years ago, so I’m glad they were able to restore power to you so quickly.

FCM, that’s a wise choice, I think. I remember getting my windows replaced about 4-5 years ago, most companies (IIRC) were in the $3-4,000 range but one came in with an estimate of nearly $18,000! Suffice it to say they did not get my business. And that’s a nice house, but a little to big for just little Ol’ me.

Wheelie, glad most of the family is going to be able to make it out to your place, Have a good time!

shoe, glad G.C. was by and helped you…rel;ax…and that you had that conversation.

Spicy, glad the Wee one is feeling better and having more fun in your life should be a requisite for all of us.

JtC, those are some nice items.

And now it’s calorie replacement time, so everyone take care.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got done and put where it stays until it gets dirty again. I made a Sam’s run (heh!) so we’re all re-stocked on tp. We got back from the church house a little big ago and are stuffded full of pancakes, bacon, snausage, and oj. Plus, I got the ashes ready for tomorrow’s service and schmutzing.

We made paczki (Polish jelly donuts) today, which is a traditional Fat Tuesday thing to do. We don’t observe religious holidays other than in a superficial way (food), and these are holdovers from the wife’s childhood.

We’re actually supposed to get a bit of snow tomorrow evening after virtually nothing since last Halloween.

On to tonight’s TV fare.

Tomorrow is the dreaded laundry day.

Would using MS Word and a printer be too much tech? Scrapbooking (and you have pics of Wee Weasel, I’m sure) can be done somewhat inexpensively, the initial costs being cardstock, some printed paper (check out FB MarketPlace for some of it fer cheap) and a trimmer. If you find that you like it, you can add tools and other stuff to get fancy. The same tools and paper are also good for making cards.

While I’m not the expert that JtC and shoe are, when I’ve done needle point and counted cross stitch, with those scattered different color stitches are done, I slide the needle under the backs of the stitches in between until I get to the part of the grid for the next contrast stitch, then lather, rinse and repeat.

My grandmother used to make those for Fat Tuesday too. I haven’t had them in years.

Wishing CtE a happy birthday fishy. Best of luck on your surgery.

I had a talk with my new lead this morning when he tried to put me on another station that was standing all day. I flat out told him that he could plan on replacing me at lunch if he did that and pointed out that I’ve been on restrictions for that for 18 years (I can easily handle a couple of hours or something that’s sit for a while, move around for a bit, sit for a while, etc). I found myself doing a more suitable station intermittently with some drop off / pick up type stuff, kind of like what my usual job is physically. I got along much better. Now if the little twit (he’s all of 24 and thinks he has all of the answers) remembers what we talked about. :stuck_out_tongue: I also addressed his attitude of talking down to women in the department old enough to be his mom or grandma (IOW, most of us) in a very diplomatic way. He did seem like he was trying harder thjs afternoon.

Laissez le bon temps roulez!

(and stay safe and healthy y’all!)

Orthodox types have 4 more weeks before lent begins (sundown mar.17th). Let the meatful times roll!

We have blini for the wild time before the vegan times roll.

I was looking at purses at Da Jungle, and saw more than a few claiming to be “vegan leather.” Um, would that, perhaps, be the hyde of the elusive Nauga? No, I didn’t order one. Vegan leather??:laughing::laughing:

I think I want an apple. Off to the kitchen…

I enjoy apples as a snack! So much better than chips.

Both! As well as the Chicago Dogs (in Rosemont), Joliet Slammers, Peoria Chiefs, Springfield Lucky Horseshoes, and St. Louis Cardinals.

Seven ballparks in one trip is a good total these days. We used to do nine to eleven, but our pace has slowed a bit!

What?!?! No South Bend Cubs game?

I’ve been meaning to tell you that after reading your comments over the past months, I recently joined a Tai Chi class at a local church (today was my fourth class). You can take 1-2 classes free to see if you like it, then it’s $40/month if you’re under 65, $30/month for 65+, which seemed pretty reasonable. I really like the fact that it’s quiet and slow - unlike the aerobics class I took about 100 years ago.

The beginners stay upstairs and the more experienced people go downstairs, and we were told that they were going to do the full set after our class. I went down and watched that - it was fascinating but a bit overwhelming, and totally silent.

I’ve also been standing on one foot to brush my teeth (alternating every 30 seconds when my toothbrush pauses).

I’m starting to notice some improvement in my balance and flexibility, so thanks for the inspiration!

Reasonable heaving, and I hit Aldi for my meats.
Me: < attempts to make bed >
Spot: < appears on bed >
Me: < sits quietly on bed >
Spot: < becomes bored, wanders off >
Me: < restarts bed making >
< Repeat 4 more times, till bed is made >
But I got a Manhattan and some hockey tonight.

Even Mother Teresa could find some sin in Vegas on a Saturday night.

:heartbeat:

 :birthday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CtE!!! :birthday:

Ouch!

Plus discount Easter candy, as well!

OK, Daniel-san. :stuck_out_tongue:

I want to take self defense classes. Peter Dinklage could take me in a fight.

You might want to search for a “breast care center”. My local hospital has one and that’s all they do. When I needed to have something looked at more closely after a mammogram, they took me to another room & did an ultrasound & then took me down the hall to see a breast surgeon for a hands-on exam & follow-up.

They also have an all-female staff for their patients’ comfort, although I personally would have no problem with a male doctor.

Rooms. They have doors. Which humans can close and cats cannot open. I remain mystified at this human behavior. The cat behavior surprises me not in the least.

Truefish: There is a lady here on the ship who is about your age, body shape, and face style. Her hair is about your length as well. Except it’s all died Day-Glo green. So about the color of anti-freeze.

Every time I see her I do a double take: “Wait a minute, I didn’t know truefish was on this ship?! And she hasn’t told the MMPers about changing her hair color either; I’m sooo confused!”

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I really hope you are wrong, you have done way too many plumbing repairs recently.

What did you burn for the ashes? Our priest was known to burn leaves if he thought he wouldn’t have enough palm fronds. I thought that ash was ash, but some people lost their minds over it.

Are there any fluff and fold laundromats close enough to visit? It might be worth the money to avoid the weekly aggravation.

Thanks for the kind words, but I am not an expert. I just know how to hide my mistakes better than most. Shoe can design on the fly, that is a talent I admire so much!

I am SO happy it is helping. I really didn’t think TC would do anything for me, I only started going to support the teacher. I also like the slow, meditative part of TC, I tried a couple of other exercise classes that were run by overly hyper skinny-mini’s and didn’t stick with it because they were just too fast and too loud for my old body.

Today was our 34th wedding anniversary so we drove to the valley for seafood. Hubs got surf and turf and shared his lobster tail with me, he’s not a big seafood fan. I had the crab and shrimp special. It came on a bed of crispy fried potato skins that low-carb hubs just couldn’t help sharing, they were really good. He had his usual boring Cadillac Margarita and I had a chocolate, expresso martini.

I was sad to see the landscape plants all budding out and growing leaves. There will be a couple more hard freezes before winter is over, it will be sad.

The mountain between the north and south bound lanes of the I17 is totally gone now and they are working on the one by Black Canyon City now. It should be gone by next year if all goes as planned. That road really does need to be widened, I’ve spent many unhappy hours stuck in Friday traffic while I was working and I can’t imagine that things got any better or less congested after I retired.

Cats wail and claw the carpet and wood around closed doors.

GG can open doors accidently, Spot could probably figure out how to open doors on purpose if challenged. Ain’t nobody really wants a cat who knows how to open doors when they want, so it is like stiles on ranches. If people start jumping fences in front of horses, the horses figure out that they can also jump the fence. As long as they don’t know they can do it, they don’t get motivated to try.

I’m glad you are having fun on your cruise. Back in my floozy days, I would have had so much fun on one of those, but now it sounds just too peopley. I’m thinking about a week cruise to Hawaii this winter, but it probably won’t happen cause I am getting really people avoidant in my dotage.
