Where I’m confused is how the calls are making it through your blocking. Can your phone provider shed any light on that?
Going to ask them
Clearly, it’s not.
There are different ways to “block” numbers, depending on your phone service provider (plus external apps, IIRC) so you may want to start a thread asking for advice or help from others who may have more tech savvy.
Let us know how that goes! He is harassing you.
Congratulations! You have your very own stalker. An “award” an unfortunate number of us are familiar with.
They have a surprising amount of supplies at Wal-Mart.
I also did the thing where I bought more blunt needles, then later found my existing blunt needles, so I am SET on those.
Do WHAT now?
I LOL’d, sorry.
Kind of the key ingredient, though …
That sounds really cool.
I got a big smile at this.
Hippo burpday, Brian, wherever you are out there.
It’s amazing what you see when you’re looking at the exact same thing from a different perspective.
You just made me realize: the main thing I fold is not-clothes. Towels, sheets, dishcloths, that sort of thing.
As soon as I made my little (bad) joke, I thought of that thread.
… and went, “Oh, gawd, now I’m one of THOSE people.”
Alright, I gotta get m’self somewhat sheveled.
I offered Carless Co-worker a ride in since we both start at the same time, and now of COURSE he needs to make a stop somewhere on the way first, so I can’t pull off my “slide out the door at the last possible minute” trick.
It’s probably gonna be another slow-ass night, too; I’m bored just thinking about it.
The one thing I’m maybe sorta looking forward to is trying to make heart-shaped pizzas. We had a whole conversation at work about this the other night (Sweet Manager was all, “We don’t have a mold to make the right shape!” and I was like, “I will MAKE them the right shape m’damn self!”) and I straight-up informed her that if I’m on the line (rather than fryers or window) I WILL be making heart shaped pizzas, and that’s just all there is to it.
Also, Carless Co-worker is notorious for producing odd-shaped crusts when he works the dough roller (they’re not supposed to be egg-shaped, dude) so there was a running joke behind his back about just swapping him out as dough roller for tonight, since the crusts won’t come out neatly round anyway.
Gotta remember to be mindful coming home tonight, so Monks can’t pull the same stunt again.
Hurtigruten has smaller ships and better ecological practices. When I went to Antarctica with them, there were under 400 passengers. Celebrity Xpedition ships are also generally small; our Galapagos trip had under 100 passengers. Riverboats are another option for a smaller ship–we used Tauck for a Lower Danube tour and enjoyed it a lot.
And the Improbability Drive must be in operation, I just finished re-reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and am almost through The Restaurant at the end of the Universe.
shoe, hooray for finding the blanket; give me hope my brain isn’t failing too bad if you can forget stuff like that. And the occasional $6.66 on the register has never bothered me but has weirded out some folks seeing it.
Spicy, you may still be learning to have fun, but the picture put a grin on my face. And I hope this motley crew brings you some community too.
BBBoo, been on the Zephyr before to Denver (from Chi-town). Too bad he doesn;t live a few stops to the West, the scenery west of Denver on the train is awesome.
FCM, glad the knee is operating properly again.
Pilot, sounds like you had better weather than I did, and I got to swim in a sinkhole, would have loved the caving trip better. Keep on sailing’
Coppertone, hope the harassment is stopped, one way or another.
Have done my swimming and am now headed to the couch to watch soccer. Catch up with you all this evening
When I block a number the first choice is to send directly to voicemail. I have to specify if I do not want them to be able to leave a voicemail. That maybe what is happening.
Yes, there are ways to keep certain numbers from ringing your phone, but still allow voice mails.
I agree with Shoe; ask around on line about your specific phone model - or call tech support - and make sure you’ve got the settings right. Get that #%!@&$ blocked blocked!
Oh, I noticed it shortly after we got married; maybe a littlebit before then.
It just took 2 more years for the pain to build to the point I was willing to pay whatever it took to make it stop. And I mean “pay” in lots more ways than dollars; that’s almost the least of it.
What’s even worse, I was standing in front of the display of various spuds - red, yukon gold, russet, little bitty ones… Brain fart, plain and simple.
Speaking of which, I came to the computer to look up… something… No clue what it was. I’ll probably remember about 3AM. Back to the kitchen - gotta put the wings in the air fryer!
Well, I got my Hamilton Ventura watch back from Swatch. They didn’t do anything, saying that they no longer have the parts. Come on. It’s not like it’s a 1950s vintage one. I’m sure any number of their movements would fit into the case. I suspect they just looked on their system, found it’s out of production, and quit. I guess I’ll take it back to Fred Meyer. At least their jeweller down in Everett will open it up and see if there’s anything he can do.
Hi all!
CtE thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. I basically told them, “I know a lot of strange… strangers on the internet and they all wish you a happy birthday.” And, gentleperson that they are, they just said, “Tell them I said thank you.” Good adult, that one. (Can I say good kid anymore? Since they’re now an adult? But they are still my kid… I’m so confused! )
We had a scare where we thought I wasn’t going to have my surgery tomorrow after all, thanks to insurance shenanigans. But the doctor was forceful and insurance agreed to pay for what was necessary and tomorrow morning I’ll be at the hospital at 0530. Hubby isn’t keen on the arrival time but I’m just glad that I have an arrival time!
If anyone that has me on FB wants to give updates here (since Hubby will be doing the updating while I’m still a bit loopy and I won’t be up for posting), I give free and clear permission to do so.
Hubby had to take BtY to the doctor today. They’ve been having problems with spasmodic limbs that’s prevented them from being in school on two separate days. The doctor is stumped but had given us a referral to neuro and ordered blood work. So we’ll just have to see what we see.
pilot, it’s nice to know that I’ve got a sort-of doppelganger on the ship! I’ll admit that I wouldn’t mind changing places with the lady, me enjoying the cruise and her enjoying the surgery, but I really do want to get my feeling and rhythm back, so it’s all for the best.
I’ll check in when I can!
Yes, you can say my kid.
Re: the police, I explained everything. He didn’t seem to think wishing me valentines day was very harrassing, but said they would tell him to stop.
Howdy y’all. Un-fun end to the day at the school. After making sawdust all day I blew my nose and had a gusher of a nosebleed. It is so dry in there. 20 minutes of that nonsense.
fishy Best wishes for successful procedure tomorrow!
FCM I did a similar brain fart the other day at TJ’s, but fortunately I un-farted as I was walking out the door. It is kinda hard to make au gratin potatoes without the cheese. The guy at the register thought it was funny.
spicy Add me to the list of folks who like your paintings. The two blending together is very cool.
What is this white stuff coming out of the sky? Angel dandruff?
Your kid is always your kid. It might be iffy saying “my baby” tho…
FCD really likes the wings I make in the air fryer. Except all I do is put a little salt and pepper on them, then 8 minutes, turn them over, 8 more minutes. It almost feels like cheating, it’s so easy. I also make cauliflower parmesan - soooooo good!
Guess it’s time to assume the knit position!
Jeez, those storms in Australia are no joke! I’ve spent a lot of my time sucked into the fresh hell that is American politics, to the exclusion of all other news, I had no idea they’d done so much damage. I need to stop: it’s doing no one any good and I miss everything else.
Today is beautiful outside. Bright, sunny and around 65F. There have been too many meetings today, but there are too many meetings every day. I took the girl out last night on a mother/daughter night out with some of my mom friends and their 14 yo daughters. We saw Mama Mia (the musical) after going out to dinner. It was a lot of fun. The girl and I got in a little argument on the way home because seeing the show was agreed to so long as she’d be up and ready for school as usual, even though we were out about a half hour later than she’d normally be in bed. On the ride home, she told me that skipping two hours of school in the morning should be fine because, “Mom, sleep is really important to children, especially school-aged kids.” When I commented that she was right and we should consider not staying out that late for a while if she was so tired she’d need to skip school, she got really upset because, “I’m not a baby and having to stay home is really embarrassing.” Got it.
It was a really fun evening regardless - the performers were amazing, music was good and the girls had fun. I’m glad we went. And she did make it to school on time and asked to stay after and play volleyball, so I’m assuming she’s not going to need the fainting couch. As a bonus, she has a 4.5-day weekend starting mid-day tomorrow when she gets let out of school early.
I’m hoping to go for a waddle this afternoon while it’s still sunny - my legs could use to movement and I could use the wakeup. I was wide awake until 1 a.m. and had to be up at 6. Oh, well. Guess I could use an early night, too.
I’m just popping in to say hi. Hi! I’ve been busy and my son is supposed to stop in today, maybe. He and my DIL are super-organized and make up spreadsheet schedules, but of course, you have to stay flexible. (Also, son has ADHD, so schedules are necessary.) With the move happening in stages, their lives are so complicated that I can’t keep track, so he’s either en route to Seattle or Vancouver . And he couldn’t give me an arrival time. I made cheese-bacon-and-chives mini-muffins and will put together a fruit tray. If he’s here for dinner, I’ll throw something else together.
I started reading all the posts I missed, but there are so many, it’ll take time to catch up.

There are also breast fluffers …
Years ago, an actress at a colonial event was a rather buxom young lady portraying Lady Hamilton (wife of Gov. Henry Hamilton). Her dress showed a LOT of cleavage. It will probably surprise no one here to learn that Ruble offered to be “The Royal Bosom Fluffer”.
Happy anniversary!
QFT. Both Nelson and his mother have that instinct and if you ever saw them kill a rat or mouse or even shake the ever lovin’ shit out of a toy, you know that they’re efficiant at the job.
LoL. I think that I may not have been the only one who took him to task. He’s giving a bit more respect to a number of us from my observation. He may grow up to be somebody.
Try swabbing your nostrils with some vaporub.
I hope that round 3 of the water issue is resolved soonest, with the least money and inconvenience metal mouse.
Irked, came home, walked the dog and et. Not much shaking at CasaRoja tonight.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Thanks! That’s funny because it’s the first thing either of us ever painted and I don’t hold it in high esteem. I just hadn’t seen the picture they took of us until today and I got a kick out of the silliness. Nice date night memory. We’ve been trying to do date nights for several months now, once a month but sometimes it’s once every two months. I told him next time we’ve gotta go to an arcade. I’m just trying to think of things we don’t normally do.
I am indeed left handed. It’s been a pain in my ass my whole life, but apparently it makes me extra creative, or likely to be President, or something.
I did actually enjoy my time cross stitching today now that I’ve introduced more vibrant colors. I had to start with white and beige. I am all about colors. I also watched a couple videos about how to fix mistakes and educated myself a bit so I don’t feel quite as lost.
