(Old) Trying To Reason with Hurricane Season - A Hockey MMP

Sounds like you both married well.

Pound for pound, that’s likely three times more dog than these yahoos put together. :stuck_out_tongue:

All’s good nellie.

Especially Spot.

Whew! I’d hate to have you think ill of me, as I think you’re the cat’s pajamas.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 54 degrees Ferret Height(12.222 Centipedes). the high today is supposed to be 90 Ferrets.

He does not like change at all.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and cloudy. Weather app says “Serge King once said “Revelations are found in the clouds”. Yeah. How about the fucking revelation that clouds fucking suck?”

Cookie sorry to hear about the AC, that is getting to be a far too regular occurrence. Also, yay for the healthier diet, I hope you find lots of variety to keep those salads interesting.

There was some serious goose business to be done there!

She must be getting commission from the pill providers! I would have expected her to want to wean you off the medication if you’ve had no more seizures and there isn’t a good reason not to look at reducing the dose.

How exciting for you! I hope the move is as stress-free as possible and you enjoy unpacking all your stuff at the other end.

She is exhausting - the fact that she’s in a snit means she’s very quiet (which is good) but also means next time we have a 1-1 meeting, whatever’s causing the snit will come out and she’ll have had a week for it to fester.

VanGo good luck with the big doings today, it looks like an exhausting list!

That is always so annoying, getting a referral and then getting stuck in the system on a waiting list. It isn’t much better here, some people are very lucky and get dealt with quickly whereas others can be waiting for many months for something quite routine.

Yesterday was fun, and not in the best way either. We had a delivery of some bags of human treats (Maltesers, chocolate buttons and M&Ms). At one point in the morning, my team went to a meeting which Troublesome Minion didn’t want to go to so she stayed in the office, and a couple of the guys from the English Lit team were here too. By the time we came back from our meeting, the entire large bag of M&Ms had disappeared! Nobody knows what happened to it, and I suspect TM is firm in her belief that the person she has a serious grudge against in the office is quietly blaming her for it. TM is diabetic and can’t eat sweet stuff, so a bag of M&Ms is no good to her or her family as they’re all diabetic. That will be more fun for me to deal with later.

I got out of the office a little early and was home at a reasonable time. I tended to the needs of cats and had some dinner before going to the pub with my friends. One of them has a birthday today so I passed over her gifts, and I also had some legal paperwork to sign with them as part of their PoA process. A fun evening was had, and I was in bed before midnight so that’s a win.

I got to work without incident today and was greeted with the inevitable news that Extremely Difficult Student has made an extenuating circumstances appeal about the exam earlier this week. She did not complain about the heat in the room we’d booked, despite hinting to someone else that it would be part of an appeal. Instead, she has chosen to appeal on the grounds that the laptop provided for her did not have spellchecking software enabled.

Tricky situation, since her reasonably adjustments document does mention enabling spellcheck “where core competencies allow” but doesn’t give any definition of what that means. I put it in my request to the team who provide the laptops, and was told by their deputy director that exam laptops don’t have spellcheck enabled, and they don’t have admin rights to change that. Our Welbeing Officer is on the case and we’re pulling together as much info as we can to see where this goes next. The student does also have a right to abandon an exam so she could have refused to continue and would have an automatic first sit in August if she had taken that route. More fun and games.

Gig night at the Giffard for us, it’s unusual to have a gig on a school night but circumstances mean I am able to work at home tomorrow so I shall go to the ball!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 83 and mostly sunny. This is decidedly cooler than usual. Not that I am complainin’. TWPTB say the current temp breaks the record for coolest temp on June 4th. My day started out with the wifi bein’ wonky for about half an hour. How weird! The big plan of the day is quality cee-mint pond time and RDOS sloth. Sup will be a sorta kinda version of Philly cheesesteaks in which I shall use ground beast, peppers, onions, cream cheese and some other kind of cheese TBD and oven fries.

Oopsie hope the move is as stress free as possible. Just think, soon you will be in your new and more spacious digs!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Or it’s just easier to say “OK, keep taking the pills and come back in a year.” Unfortunately, neurologists in this county are greatly overbooked so finding another is no easy task. We’ll see how things go come September.

FCD has just dealt with this. He needs an MRI. Our local imaging center is booked thru Sept. He got an appointment for Tuesday in the next county over. Not a huge deal, but it’s a 45 minute drive vs. maybe 10 minutes.

I’m not looking forward to booking my EEG in Sept - with luck, it’s not a procedure that has a big demand. We shall see.

She sounds like a Drama Queen at the very least. What a joy for some future employer!

Today is starting with 54 Ferrets, going up to at least 88. Temps will top out in the low 90s thru the weekend, then get more reasonable on Moanday.

We’re going to install the mast on the boat today - at least we’ll try. FCD seems to think it’s no biggie. I’m less optimistic. I guess we’ll see. If all goes according to his optimistic plans, once it’s in place, I can tend to other chores and he’ll stay at the boat doing electrical stuff that doesn’t require my presence. I don’t see that happening, but stranger things have occurred.

Happy Thursday!!

Taters, you can make country gravy at home, but first you have to decide which country to roast to get the drippings.

This is my day to go to Mishawaka for my allergy shot and a trip to the ice cream place. It’s June, so they’ll probably have a new flavor or two.

Morning all. Woke up a bit ‘dizzy’ (when I stand up my balance feels ‘off’, not like I’m falling or staggering or anything, just ‘off’). Will see if it continues or not, may be a good breakfast is what is needed. 67F heading to 84F today a 4% chance of rain, so nice day all around. Have to get my Firday shopping list together and see what coupons I can use, so that will be my major adulting thing for the day. Also will mop the library and the bathrooms so some cleaning will happen. Otherwise should be a quiet day.

Flyboy, sounds like you had a ‘doggio’ day, outside of being in a totally different workplace…

BBBoo, think the Wisconsin branch is theirs.

Boofae, Student complaint to research and the case of the missing M&M’s…ah, life in Academia…enjoy the Giffard.

FCM, happy masting!

Knots, so, a day with both pain (allergy shot) and pleasure (ice cream). Hope the pleasure outdoes the pain.

And time for a big bowl of Cheerios and see if that helps, then onward into the day.

Good morning.

It’s 53F and partly cloudy outside. Today will feature a mix of clouds and sun, with a daytime high of 67°F.

Metal Mouse, please be careful. I hope breakfast fixes the problem, but please do see a doc if the balance issues continue.

Flyboy, that sounds like quite a day. I hope today is much better.

Nellie, how frustrating for your son (and you!). I hope they call him soon. Sending you hugs.

Oopsie, I hope all goes smoothly with the move.

Boofae, good luck with both TM and Extremely Difficult Student.

My husband and I rode our bikes 34 miles yesterday. We had an occasional sprinkle while riding, and the skies were mostly cloudy. However, the temperature was pleasant, and the ride was very nice. We rode from Orting to Enumclaw and back. This ride features three rivers: the Puyallup, the White, and the Carbon. There is also South Prairie Creek. We saw hawks, and many other types of birds, numerous wildflowers, wetlands restoration efforts in Enumclaw, and very few people. I posted some pics on the book of faces.

However, by the time we got home, my knees were not doing well. I feel better today, though, so that’s good.

I’ll have to cut this short because I need to hop into the shower. My husband has his appointment with his optometrist at 0815, so I need to get ready to go.

You all take care.

last night i enjoyed a nice quiet night with cats and no humans. today there is an office event to celebrate the end of busy season. more human contact, le sigh…

Good morning, everyone! It was a little warmer than yesterday, so jackets were removed about halfway through our walk. I hit snooze on the walking alarm, so we got started a little later. No sunrise pictures this morning.
Here’s Chloé after her first haircut three years ago:

None can withstand the wee puppy cuteness!

Errands were run last night. We decided that we need to eat from the deep freeze for a while, so we only picked up essentials, like cupcake cups and a doorknob, which I’ll have to replace this weekend sometime.

Mrs Magill and I talked a little about Pride Fest this morning. She was assuming that I would present for it. I reminded her that that would necessitate coming out at church, and my moneky sphere[1] is most definitely not that big yet. Besides, I can’t think of a quicker way to lose my tier 3 volunteer certification with the school system.

The Woxers underwear I mentioned upthread came in yesterday - apparently their warehouse is up the road. Holy Moley, they are super soft. I mentioned that to Mrs Magill this morning. She smiled and said, “Welcome to you new underwear.” I think she’s definitely on this roller coaster with me. Oh, great - now I have the Chili Peppers in my head now.

I also got some cute Pride shoes to wear on Saturday.

I’ll have to borrow some no-show socks.

I’ve got my dads gaming group tonight. I was going to bring 7 Wonders and a new game I picked up, Deep Regrets. I really like the dynamics of my friends group, and I’ll miss it in a few months when things get awkward and weird.

I keep seeing facebook ads for puppy yoga. I should sign up for one.

Cliff Burton’s headbanging was my inspiration for growing out my hair thirty-five years ago.

You’re half right. :person_with_veil: :woman_with_veil:

I’ve never met a cat who does.

taters - sounds like a good ride.

  1. Dunbar’s Number ↩︎

So Spot’s a leopard then? :d&r:

Is Vic’s Ice Cream still around in Middlebury? If it is, it’s worth a field trip just for the butter pecan.

She’s adorable!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, puppers tended to and fixing to do KP.

I may run around the corner to Kabul Market to check out their spice selection, but hanging out with dogs is the main order of the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Nellie, hoping various forms of relief outweigh the forms of annoyance and pain.

Oopsie, sending good moving vibes.

Boofae, In the US, the standard is “reasonable accommodation.” If a laptop with spelling check has been scrounged up for a different student, the accommodation could have been made. If it hasn’t, it may not be considered a reasonable accommodation (the accommodation might be, no penalty for spelling errors).

Molly, Cute shoes indeed!

That face at our drive-thru would absolutely bring the kitchen to a screeching halt.

“OMG!”

“Did you give it a treat?”

“Want a piece of ham?”

(Yes, a few of our regulars have Speshul Snowflakes ™ who won’t accept our usual MilkBones, and get a little slice of ham instead.)

I am so invested in this mystery.

Is this sorta like having preschool kids, and suddenly realizing the house is quiet. (Uh oh.)

Band name.

Home! The mast went up without too much drama. My only frame of reference was 40-ish years ago when we had a Hunter 23 that we’d trailer about, then step the mast once we got to a launch ramp. THAT was a challenge, but the mast was much taller than the one on Sandpiper. On the other hand, we were in our 30s… Anyway, both mast and boom are installed and FCD is currently connecting the wires from the mast lights to their respective circuits. Otis has planted himself close by - guess he missed me.

My plans for the afternoon involve some sewing. Supper will be grab whatever since we had lunch at Salsa’s. I really need to get some yard work done, too, but it’s going to be dang hot!. Maybe after the back yard is in the shade of the house, I can do a few things out there. For now, tho, I’m going to chill a bit. Because I’m worth it!

It seemed like a smooth day, not much coming down the 100 Slide, and the 100 Table was really light. Till it suddenly was 100% full at 0830. God knows where all the work came from, but The Supreme Shouting Officer was going nuclear on the radio. I had to help the 100 Table get it down, then got sent to the 300 table to get that down, then clerking with J on the 300 Slide. They held the drivers till it was all loaded, so the package cars left at 0945, instead of 0845. I’m glad I’m not in the after sort meeting between the full time sups and The Supreme Shouting Officer. It’s probably the most wailing and gnashing of teeth since the Third Reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex Supplicants. The damages and rewraps weren’t too bad, I was out by 11. I stopped and did my Senior Day shopping at Teeter. I guess I’m fine with being thought of as a decrepit geezer if it saves me $3.00 on my bill.

Have you considered acquiring a basement and a cask of Amontillado, and inviting EDS and TM over?

Sounds like a good ride, then.

I like!

Have you lowered the boom yet.

Evenin’.

We finally got a few little torrential downpours and a couple of thundery rumbles today, they’ve been dodging us for the last few days. I got home before the last one and sat in the tunnel during the rain.

I am looking forwards to the weekend- no plans. Maybe I’ll go get some good bread from the next town over, strawberries from the good shop and have lunch out somewhere nice. Or maybe I’ll just slob.

BooFae, good luck dealing with the drama- where I’m invigilating, they seem to have a lot of students who get accommodations who don’t actually use them. Like students with dyslexia can request a reader or a scribe for their exams; a friend (who has legible handwriting, unlike mine) signed up to do that, got allocated a bunch of students in various exams, but not one student this session actually asked him to do it, so he just got paid to sit there and mess about on his phone. Seemed odd.

Anyway, I have some tiny fuzzy things need attention and treats. I should go supply same.

Working from home today, which is doubly nice because it’s slow at work. Until the water shut off at 10 - another water main break. Thankfully the water came back on around 12, but it’s got a dingy color to it. I’m sure it’s safe to use and just needs to be flushed out, but I’m reluctant to cook or clean with it. I’m hoping once more people are home this evening it’ll help clear the line.

Has he looked into a type of drug called biologics? I was super sick two years ago and it sent my asthma crazy - multiple breathing treatments a day and steroids and I could still barely breath (I really should have gone to the hospital). My pulmonologist put me on Dupixent and it was frankly a miracle. I’ve barely touched my rescue inhaler since.

I hope he gets to feeling better, asthma can be a miserable, scary thing.

Good luck with your move today oopsie!

That is freaking criminal, this makes me soooo mad. Shame on them for taking advantage of people that don’t know better. I hope you march the lot of them in to the manager to demand they all get fixed.

knots I laughed, now go sit in time-out

Way more I couldn’t respond to but my boss needs somethings. Toodles!

Might doing things like flushing toilets a few times or just leaving sink faucets running for a few minutes help?
